Could we have gotten cap space for putting him on LTIR like they can in hockey? Not familiar with NBA rules

This announcement could’ve been made months ago. It was obvious long ago that he wasn’t coming back this year. Too bad, but at least he still gets his $$.

I love Lonzo and when he was playing we were genuinely looking like we could become contenders, but I’m really not confident he’ll ever play consistently for the Bulls again. I really think it’s time to move on.

At this point his career might just be done

It’s a good thing he’s an entertainer, if this happened to a normal person they’d be homeless

    Rip lonzo man. Rip.

Now I’m wondering whether akme and reinsdorf was that stupid to think he could comeback and have the same impact before the injury. We all know a bum knee is a bum knee.

edit: lol lonzo lovers still think he’s coming back

I wish we could cancel the rest of his contract. He’s a good player but, I’ve never seen a mysterious injury like this that no one can figure out and that doesn’t seem to heal.

  8. Please just announce he’s not coming back this year so I can stop reading the same update over and over again like it’s news.

Worst signing, guy only plays if its a contract year.

It will be interesting to see how this will play out. Was it his previous injuries with the Lakers? Was it the BBB shoes? Was it his terrible conditioning when he was younger? Bulls may have addressed the initial surgery incorrectly, as well.

I love how many doctors are in this thread who are happy to explain how this proves his career is done, despite guys coming back *this season* after being out for just as long if not longer and not looking like they’ve missed a step.

  12. This shit sucks so much 😔 I wanna enjoy bulls basketball again

So, basically, he’s officially the new Brandon Roy, and he has a degenerative knee- and the front office likely knew/knows other ugly things about it that they aren’t sharing.

The team’s gonna have to find the most cost effective way of cutting their losses with him and moving on. Considering how badly AKME have fucked up everything else except the DeRozan S&T, I don’t trust them to do so.

  14. SnooCookies2666

He’s finished. Even if he plays again he’ll never be the same; he’ll never be able to play the same minutes etc.

  15. AuraOfChicago

Can we just fucking cut this guy and recoup some money for injury or something? My god. He is DONE

  16. JimmyMcNutty927

man imagine making that much coin to rehab.

    must be nice.

oh BTW, AKME sucks. They might be worse than GarPax.

Even if he is back next year after he’s missed 1.5 years for a 2 month injury I’m not sure how you can count on him to even be 50% of what he was when healthy last year. This sucks, Lonzo is so good at what he does when healthy, but not sure if he ever will be healthy again

  18. jburger921

Why wait? Just fucking announce it. Why the unnecessary secrecy around something we have all known since Christmas

  19. tomche23

Ok great sooooooo now we get rid of him and Vooch and one of Zach and Demar and rebuild!

  20. procouchpotatohere

Finally ripping the band aid off.

Is anyone actually surprised by this? He was out 6-8 weeks a year ago and hasn’t been able to run without pain in over a year at this point. It’s sad to say but I think the man’s career is over. Hope he recovers well enough to be able to enjoy life. I’ll be shocked if he plays basketball at a high level again
