People have unexamined subconscious biases that are affecting the way this discussion about Jokic is happening. Jokic doesn't "look" like a basketball player – so many people are offended by his success. A very similar round of media and cultural backlash happened to the first several African American quarterbacks in the NFL. Lots of talk about what a player couldn't do instead of what he could. Double standards abound and go in all directions. Many of the arguments against Jokic are straw men–the facts are there if you want to find them. All the advanced stats and analytics that people complain about when looked at historically reveal the names you would expect at the top (Jordan, Chamberlain, Jordan, etc). Jokic is on his way to being an all time great and that makes many people uncomfortable for a lot of reasons that are historical, cultural and psychological and they are lashing out.
