Brooklyn extends head coach Jacque Vaughn. Was this right for Nets future?

The Nets have extended Jacque Vaughn as their head coach for the next four seasons. After taking over for Steve Nash, Vaughn has produced a winning record, but the team looks very different now than when he got the gig. Was this the right move for the Brooklyn Nets in both the short and long term? Is Vaughn the answer for the Nets’ future and does the team’s current outlook make sense to lock a coach in right now for many years? The Locked on Nets guys discuss the extension, what Vaughn has done in Brooklyn, and what the future holds.

  1. That slogan "end of the superstar era" is horrible. Name 2 NBA Champs without superstars or multiple stars. So to run away from superstars represents running away from a championship.

  2. A lot of Nets fans are blaming Kyrie for the current state. Please, understand that you have authoritarian owner and figure-head GM, who are egotistical. You don't tell a superstar that the only way he gets a max deal is, if he wins a championship in a "team" sport. Let's be honest, no player who knows his worth will go for that "go fetch" BS. Kyrie stated a week before the trade, "I want to finish my career as a Net", but little man Joe said no. He will learn though 😂😂😂

  3. I'm glad Jacque Vaughn received a contract extension. I'm sure it was a humbling experience for GM Sean Marks to make all of the positive statements about it considering he passed over him, a few years ago, and hired his inexperienced friend Steve Nash, for the job. JV put in years of work as an assistant coach and head coach, showed loyalty to the Nets by staying with them and deserved the opportunity to get the job before Nash. Because of Nash trying to learn on the job to be a head coach, time in KD's window were lost. The rest is history that most of us fans know. It's been said, "all is well that ends well." Okay but retribution is a moral booster.

  4. Alot of Haters in the comment section. If you got a problem with the Nets, that your problem to have. We're good in Nets 🌎

  5. I’m glad JV got the extension. I think he’s done a great job since he’s taken over under difficult circumstances. I like his character. He will have a challenge trying to figure out the rotations the rest of this season but I am confident that he is up to it. I don’t like the direction that the NBA is going with superstars such as load management, trade demands, ridiculously bad all star game. But I am an old school old timer. I will enjoy the Nets more without Kyrie and KD. I feel like they really didn’t care at all about Nets fans.

  6. I'm not happy with this. JV hasn't proved anything yet…What's wrong with a consistent starting lineup of Spencer, Cam, Bridges, CJ & Claxton…smh. this is a rebuild! All luv LETS GO NETS

  7. I feel like they should’ve waited to see the outcome of this playoff and last year season then decide

  8. Big fan of JV💪👏 man deserves every penny for dealing with the trio of headaches and now stuck trying to make simmons work when he is washed up and useless. Always a smile on his face and gives the most in depth pre/post game interviews!

  9. Bad decision imo. Jacque Vaughn has been okay as a coach, but has done a poor job handling Cam Thomas and Ben Simmons so far. The Nets once again proving that they are incredibly incompetent as an organization.
