People are gonna say the only way we can hope to win a championship down the line is by blowing it up but there are other ways to build a championship team. Being good for a while can eventually lead to becoming a championship team. It’s not always “blow it up blow it up blow it up”

  2. given our lack of tradeable assets and cap space,

this pretty much solidifies that we’re not making any real changes and we have another year of mediocre basketball and “continuity” to look forward to. see y’all in 2025

Usually when people try to build something sustainable their goal is to sustain real playoff success, not sustain play in/first round exits

Bro please why do Chicago sports have to be so mid

Im gonna be honest, this is the right approach for us right now. We have a really good player in Zach Lavine who is just beginning his max contract and is one of the best scorers in the league.

However, we cannot keep going with this current core around him. It is clear that this is not a winning team so significant changes have to be made. If there aren’t major changes then this front office is lying about trying to compete

The only way i see this front office “rebuilding” is if zach requests a trade, but i doubt it would be a full rebuild even then. They would likely want a couple keys players in return instead of just picks.

Imo the best option for us next year is to trade demar and let coby/pat have bigger roles on offense. Everything should get faster and we should take more threes. We get a three point shooter (ideally a PG) in return for demar and maybe a pick as well.

This guy is just Jerry’s lap dog. We don’t have the players right now to focus on winning. They just want to justify raising season tickets 20% so they’ll keep a roster that can win 40 games but has zero chance of actually competing.

I feel like moving DeMar or Vooch for players that fit the team better is a sweet spot in between blowing it up and the FO’s love of continuity but of course people would prefer to be a 10 seed with 0 direction to improve with aging stars over a 10 seed lead by Zach and the younger guys who are only going to get better. They wouldn’t content immediately but it’s better than play-in purgatory.

Boo me all you want but watching a team that is not building towards anything is not an enjoyable experience

People clamoring on AKME for this strategy need to direct their anger more towards ownership. AKME works for Reinsdorf. He was hired to do exactly this. Make the team “competitive” at all costs. This strategy is why they sold out the future for the win now approach two years ago.

Reinsdorf doesn’t care about building a contender. He cares about profits. And as long as the Bulls can be a semi competitive team to make him some money, while staying out of the tax that’s exactly what AKME will do if they want to keep their job.

It’s why Garpax was in their position for so long. That eventually changed when the Bulls missed the playoffs for 3 consecutive years.

This team will never be a top team again unless they get extremely lucky or until Reinsdorf sells.

I’m afraid the GOAT doomed this franchise in the 90s. This org could continue to hang their hat on those six championships until our children’s children are in the grave. I’m just glad I was alive for it. Thanks for giving me something to watch after work in the winter I guess. Who we rooting for in the playoffs?

  10. Not watching if it’s the same roster again next year lmao no thanks

  11. MakeDroseGreatAgain

Think they lost their mind the way they gave away draft picks for fun

  12. nerdcost

I don’t think this is the statement that AK thinks it is. He’s committed to mediocrity.

So they say, but keeping Vuc is going to be a big ask this Summer and losing Vuc is going to vastly reshape this team given the lack of size beyond him and Billy’s inexplicably dislike of Drummond.

They *should* make a somewhat significant move and I think it’s Demar. I love Deebo and he is great for the locker room but as far as moving a starter is concerned, Derozan gone frees up some roster combinations and a lot of floor spacing while also providing more potential suitors willing to overpay for his services, relative to another starter.

Ohh baby can’t wait to win 32 games next year 👍👍💪💪

In Zach and Demar we trust!!! They will get us the chip!!

  15. Gunnarj44

Comments saying this is the right move and we can win with current core are ridiculous

  16. f00tballm0dsTRASH

Trading for Vuc was such a mistake the dude is just not good. Zach and DeMar could be a solid combo if the 3rd of the big 3 was a shitty big or someone who we traded for that was eventually going to get hurt

  17. SwimmingLaddersWings

Sustainably a play in team? Thanks AKME

  18. dundlenut

How did we got from GarPax to this mess. Bring back GarPax

  19. BigDannyBoy1

Exactly the mindset I was afraid they’d have. See you guys in the same exact position next April

This is honestly terrible team building strategy at this point. There is no excuse or defense for this. I said the day of the Vuc trade that we were taking the place of the Pacers and Magic as borderline playoff teams that lack upside but aren’t bad enough to give themselves a shot at drafting a game changer. It very much feels like that’s where we are now. Basketball purgatory. We tried to short circuit a rebuild and it’s backfired in a way that was wholly predictable. I’m very much over this management team already.
