We’ve seen this before in a similar fashion. Dan Gilbert whined to then NBA Commish David Stern about the Big 3 joining forces. Gilbert got dinged $100k for his idiotic letter to Stern.
In the last few weeks, Cronin has been pretty inept. Dragging out the process doesn’t do anyone favors. He needs to grow the hell up and do his damn job because Scoot and the young Blazers’ nucleus are watching this shitshow.

I would absolutely love it if Portland said “dames done everything for our franchise for the last decade let’s give him what he wants now but that’s not how the NBA works. We wouldn’t do that if Jimmy did this. We would wait until whatever team he wants to go to give us their best offer. Portland wants our best offer. what I find so bizarre about this whole thing is how Portland and a good bit of their fans are acting like they’re some top-tier franchise now. all of a sudden winning is important. all of a sudden they need an astronomical compensation package for a guard whose 11-year mileage they burned. they need a hAuL so they can put together that championship-level team that just so happens to be being built as Dame is looking to get traded.

As a Portland fan I would actually love for Dame to end up with the Heat. I hope he does get traded there but just for more than what has been mentioned in the news. Most Portland fans would absolutely agree with this. Get Dame where he wants to go but also get the assets you need to rebuild. It’s weird that it got all hostile. The heat can totally have Dame if they want him. I honestly think the assets are there but they must not have been offered or this would be done.
