[Marchand] NEWS: Mark Jackson is now out at ESPN, according to sources.

>In the wake of Jeff Van Gundy’s firing in late June, ESPN set their eyes on making Burke the first woman TV analyst on the NBA Finals and hiring Rivers to join Hall of Fame play-by-player Mike Breen.

>The deals are not finalized, but are quickly moving in that direction.

>This has left Jackson in peril.

>Sources said Jackson could stay on and join play-by-player Mark Jones on the network’s second team. If he balks at that option, he could be headed out of ESPN.

Hello Doris, I will be watching the spanish broadcast moving forward!

  2. nowhathappenedwas

I’m shocked that Ethan Strauss’s “informed speculation” that he tried to gas up as actual reporting turned out to be wrong.

  3. Rapey_Keebler_Elves

This likely means that Mark Jackson won’t commentate any NBA games for ESPN next season

  4. TheDeadman95

He saw who was replacing him, and left with no due respect.

  5. Bittersweet. Glad Mark is gone but now we get more Doris who is equally as bad

Burke isn’t bad, but I really don’t like how much of a pro star bias her commentary seems to have (its not even biased towards teams, if you have the Celtics playing the Sixers she’ll alternate between talking about how Tatum and Embiid can do no wrong), but if it gets rid of Mark Jackson she’s my new favorite ESPN commentator.

  7. Fuck it, have Gus Johnson do every sport on every station.

Anyone making real money getting fired. All the cheap ppl are going to lead espn outside of sas.

Is Marchand the Shams of ESPN employment news?

  10. DuesForClocks

Am i the only person that likes Doris Burke?

  11. Light_Liberty

This is all being set up for Doc Rivers to call the Sixers winning the championship the first season after he’s fired.

  12. EGarrett

In before Steve Kerr takes the spot and instantly makes ESPN the top network on cable.

With all due respect, it should’ve been only him and first to be gone with JVG staying 🤷🏻‍♂️

  14. ForceMaster999

Get rid of Doris as well

    She’s even worse

  15. DynamixRo

Better learn whatever language they speak in churches and strip clubs, buddy.

    News: Mark Jackson is gone!

    Me: 😃🙏😃

News: He’s being replaced with Doc Rivers!

    Me: 🙁🤢🙁

I don’t know why they couldn’t just go with Richard Jefferson and JJ Redick.

  17. ColeHoops

Carrying Doris and Doc will define Mike Breen’s legacy

  18. EggForging

YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Time for him to fuck off so that I never have to hear his dumbass talk again

Mark Jackson put his hand down. And you know what they say. “Hand down. Man down”. Now he’s down and out.

  20. Doris is the worst. Literally headaches every single time she calls a game. Her voice just kills my brain. Maybe putting her into the spotlight will shine a light on how bad she is. She should be fired as well. Marc Jackson is bad but not Doris bad.

I never understood people who don’t like Mark Jackson in the booth, tbh think he was the perfect “Third Guy”. Rarely gave any deep analysis or commentary, but JVG did more than enough in that department, it would be overwhelming to have two dudes like that. He had great chemistry with the other two, provided a different perspective, and genuinely (sometimes unintentionally) funny with some fun catchphrases.

ESPN’s broadcasts are going to be a DISASTER next season. The Breen-JVG-Jackson was the only bright spot of their atrocious coverage, including the worst pre-game and half-time arrangement of maybe any major sport broadcast in America. Even that’s gone now. Breen, Hubie, and Lowe’s podcas are the only positives now. Redick lasted a couple months before he he was ruined by the “take” game.

Why can’t ESPN just announce that Mark Jackson is out at ESPN and leave it at that for a few days? Just take a win for once. Don’t hit us with the Doris Burke news (that nobody is excited about) to remind us that we are just ducks being fattened up for foie gras on whatever ESPN thinks the market wants. Honestly, I don’t mind listening to Doc. People talk about his voice being shredded, it’s really not that bad unless it’s after a game. I think he’ll be good.

  23. Take away his mvp voting privileges also….
