Defense is mostly about effort, and he tries hard. He will get better as he matures. He has some good defensive mentors on the Raptors, which should improve his defensive IQ. He is reasonably tall for an SG, and he has long arms. He may never be a great on ball defender, but I think he will end up a + team defender as he develops.
Also, he slipped, which made it look worse. Either way, these reps aren’t going hurt him come the start of the season. He will learn from this, and hopefully, we will see a noticeable improvement from college.

Gradey seems to be a good enough defender playing drop coverage team defence but he canβt stay in front of many guys 1v1. Good thing about Gradey is he seems like an above average rebounder so he can at least provide something else when his offence and defence fails him.
