the game is already fucked up with kids taking halfcourt shots like it’s normal. I really hope this change never happens.
I also think they make an error with their assumptions about expected points per shot. The percentages are bad for 30-foot shots *for now*, but if you implement a 4-point line then players will practice it a lot more. The percentages will go up, and eventually some players will come along who are so good at it that it becomes a dominant strategy.
