I think this is a good pickup. Adds wing depth and another shooter. I could see him averaging 5-10 minutes a game.
I think some big, shooting lineups could be very interesting. Brogdan, Brown, Svi, Tatum and Porzingas is a pretty big lineup with shooters everywhere. Not a closing lineup but could create big matchup issues on switches in the post with passes out to shooters.

terrible pick up, we need veteran presence for the end of the bench, not a young guy that wont play.

The only other depth wing shooter the C’s had was Hauser so I’m happy to see them add another guy for that role in Svi. If Hauser were to get hurt and miss an extended period of time the Celtics wouldn’t have had another guy on the roster who could fill that role before this.
That said he’s not a Hauser clone despite what a lot of folks may think when they see that the team added another big white wing shooter because Svi, unlike Hauser, has actually shown some potential as a secondary playmaker. In CHA’s final 8 games last season he got a ton of burn and averaged 5.3 APG to just 2.1 TOVs, all while still shooting 38.3% from deep on 7.5 3PAs a game.
If Svi can prove during training camp that he’s not a defensive turnstile he actually brings a very interesting combination of size, shooting, offball movement and secondary playmaking to the table off the bench. I definitely see why it is that Stevens wanted to get a better look at him.
