This just sounds like a Dame party influenced take to try to push the Miami trade.
I don’t just say this as a Raptor fan, but in general. Dame has 216 mil left on his contract. He’d be a complete dumbass to throw that away and refuse to report to a team and throw that away.
I think it’s pretty clear that Shams does not speak for Dame, ever. The only person that speaks for Dame is Dame. Sometimes he speaks through Haynes and sometimes he speaks through Goodwin. But that’s it. Slow news month for Shams.

There is no easier time to posture with this than right now. It probably holds offers at bay but every non-Miami team that is considering making an offer for Dame is watching to see if he reports and subsequently suits up for the Blazers. If he does, this will ring incredibly hollow.
Can you imagine agreeing to suit up for a team that is going to be one of the worst in the league but not suiting up for the Sixers, Raptors, Nets, etc.? It holds no water at all.
If Dame avoids fines to play in meaningless games in Portland, than he’ll avoid fines wherever he goes. It’s that simple.
