probably better for the sport if team USA takes it easy and stops putting together super teams. european teams are so desperate to be recognized as good basketball players, they need the validation more so why not make it easier for them? i see nothing but Ws. USA quite frankly dont need to prove shit to anybody about which country produces the very best basketball talent.
I guess lebronze powerful friends pulled the plug on another truth bomb about how he is not the goat and never was or will be. “This video is no longer available”
Don't forget, Kobe grew up playing basketball in Italy, Joe Bryant did him good by getting him to learn the fundamentals where they care the most, that's par tof why Kobe felt that way, he really cared about representing his country because every player next to him (pre NBA) wanted to represent his country.
I think people… are going to have to understand… USA players, arent really the best in the world anymore… Especially at the very high end… there isnt a dominant USA born player… he doesnt exist. And yeah… the other countries have been building for the future forever… your take is fucked up. Team USA has a better chance to just stay young for defensive reasons, and bring Booker and Tatum over. Our US bigs are going to get killed over there… Anthony Davis is our lone US superstar big. Then you are down to someone like Bam Adebayo, who is amazing on defense but undersized af in a lot of matchups. Could send Evan Mobley he led the league in defensive winshares, but him and Walker Kessler were almost identical when it comes to analytics…. and that seemed to piss you off seeing Kessler… KD at 36 at the time of the olympics, Lebron at 40… and i wouldnt want him anyway.. hasnt played defense in a decade. Steph at 36 would still be a weapon just because of his shooting but would also have issues on defense with all the small fast guards in international play, so not as big of an advantage as you would expect. Dame has the same issue. Jimmy Butler would be a get, for adding that mindset. Anthony Edwards, Jaylen Brown are great in a way, but pretty inefficient, not sure if thats the answer, and who would you take instead De'aaron Fox and, Donovan Mitchell? Thats basically offense for defense, i mean Fox is a good defender but Mitchell is worse than all 3 of them on defense… Trae Young is a big nope. You want stars, so Jarrett Allen one of the best defensive bigs in the league that you dont realise exists is probably out… like… Do you want James Harden… seriously? Team USA is not in trouble, its just young… and the old guys… if they go over… could seriously lose… its not like… send Lebron and KD and you win gold… because that shit wont work… In fact, i think the rest of the world would love to see it. Basically im just saying if I was in charge, I would add Tatum, Booker, Bam, AD, and Jimmy Butler as their captain. As F'd as it is… he is the most competitive USA guy we have. I just hate this video because there are no solutions in it… unless resurrecting a prime Kobe or MJ is something you think we need to invest in.
24 Roster- Steph, Bron, KD, Klay, Jimmy Butler, Jayson Taytum, Dame, D. Mitchell, Jarrett Allen, Robert Williams, Deundre Ayton, and Devin Booker. They will cook everybody, you got scoring, outside shooting, toughness, playmaking and defense. Gold Medal now they would have some size if you want to put J. Jackson in place of Ayton, ok but the rest have to stay because of their roles and toughness. Gaurds- Steph, Jimmy, Mitchell, Dame, Booker Forwards- KD, Bron, Taytum, Katt Centers- J. Allen, R. Williams, Ayton
I miss dwight's defense in the paint, steals and lockdown D from wade, d rose and westbrook, 3s from curry and Kd, and of course the leadership of the great black mamba
Until there is $$ in it, the biggest stars wont go. And stop pretending the OTHER countries DID have THE BEST they could offer…MANY stars missing from the other teams too. .very disappointed in that take mate.!! We used to send college kids, some of which couldn't make it in Pro league once drafted and bust. So we cant use "too young" or "not our best" as an excuse.
"Rest of world caught up" Yeaaa…, they said that in 72 as well, still send college kids the next 16 years.. yes, SOME truth to that, but its not the reason.
Its obvious !! , todays players stack teams to make it easier, charge into defenders and get free throws, can double dribble, carry and travel without a call, ALL adding to a FAR easier to score points. Not incentivized to play D caus call always goes to the offense..
They've got puffed up egos now and didn't have to EARN IT. POINTS come easier, ASSISTS are recorded now when not even an assist, and no one fights for rebounds very often.. NO HUSSLE. PAMPERED LITTLE CHILDREN will never be as tough as people from poorer countries who don't get paid 40 mil a year and have had to live through war.
ima be honest here with my opinion. i consider FIBA a 3rd rate tourney behind a tie for first with the nba season and the Olympics. the NBA houses 95%+ of the world's best players, maybe more. so it is a so called "world championship." while the Olympics, you play for YOUR COUNTRY. EVERY. SINGLE. STAR. PLAYER should play in the olympics once. i know summer for these players means family time for most and rest for the rest. a player like Curry who has never played in the Olympics should make it a priority in the time he has left (tho I know he has played in 2 FIBA tourneys). if you're a STAR, representing your country at least once and winning a gold medal should be and is one of the highlights and greatest achievement you have in your career. I watched a little of this year's FIBA tourney but was genuinely disinterested. for me, it's like the Gator Bowl or Sun Bowl of college football. for all the hating I put on Lebron, his flopping, manipulation, social and political views, etc…I HAVE DEEP RESPECT AND ADMIRATION that he has competed in 3 olympics and has said he plans on committing in 2024. my hats off to him and those who do.
Your video doesn't address one essential thing, that stops players from joining the National Team. Doping. The doping protocol on the NBA is an absolute joke, designed to allow players to dope as much as possible while in turn being able to proclaim that players are "tested". If you go on the National Team you have to abide by the IOC's/WADA doping testing, which is a lot more strict, meaning, you can surely still dope, but in much smaller quantities and with much less effective substances. To preempt some questions: -Doping is a all year round thing, so don't give me the "It's the offseason, they wouldn't dope anyway" because they do, since one of the particular advantages of doping is recovering your body faster and better, and to be more ready when NBA season starts. -Also, to the argument that team owners don't like their stars being in the National Team for fear of injury. That's absolute crap. NBA stars go on crazy tours everywhere around the world, playing absolute amateurs during demonstrations, playing Rucker, playing street tournaments some times, etc. Just look up on YouTube "nba players vs amateurs". But then there is no concern of injury. Now one may be in favor or against doping. But that is not the point. The point is, explaining why super stars are absent from the tournaments.
30 to 40 years ago, we.used to send our best college players, i.e, Michael Jordan, Oscar Robertson, Bill Russel, David Robinson. But, gone are those days and other nations started catching up sending their own superstars. College players weren't good enough anymore. 1992 was the year that changed.

Team USA is talent-based not team-based!

If Jokic and Murray hadn't opted out they would've likely had to face each other in the final.
The Avengers: 1. Steph / Lillard, 2. DBook, 3. The King / Kawhi (healthy?), 4. KD, 5. AD

The competition from the rest of the world was risen tremendously. International basketball is going to be huge in the coming decades.
