[Fentress] If Portland and a team other than Miami hammered out a deal, sources say Lillard would show up to his new team, do his job and play to the best of his abilities. But his desire to go to Miami would not dissipate. He would be seeking to get out of his new team the very same day.

> Anyone who has listened to his rap music knows that overcoming obstacles, including disrespect, is a common theme.

> So then, how would he respond to an NBA team stepping into this situation to force him to play for it when he wants to go to Miami? Probably not well.

> Of course, Lillard wouldn’t be the first star player to land where he didn’t want to play. **If the Blazers and a team other than Miami hammered out a deal that Portland deemed more desirable than what they could acquire through dealing with the Heat, sources say Lillard would show up to his new team, do his job and play to the best of his abilities.**

> But his desire to go to Miami, sources say, would not dissipate. As Charania stated, that trade demand would still exist. He would be seeking to get out of wherever he found himself the day he arrived.

> That includes the Blazers, who begin training camp Oct. 3.

> **If Lillard remains on the roster, he will attend training camp. If the Blazers want to suit him up, he will play.** But he won’t be happy about it. He wants to win, and the Blazers are headed in the wrong direction for that to be a realistic goal in Portland.

    So news:

    No news

Also just wanted to warn everyone to take what Fentress says with a huge grain of salt.

Fentress doing Dame a solid so he can’t get fined, lol, good looking out

  3. LazyTitan___

Damn maybe shouldn’t have signed that extension

  4. whiskeyinthejaar

Massive respect for Dame for honoring his $45M/yr contract. The work ethics for waking up and doing the bare minimum for such a minor amount is truly inspiring. I am moved

Dame doesnt just want to play for Miami.

He like, really really wants to.

    This changes things. Big time.

I’m in the Bill Simmons camp of thinking the KAT/Lillard deal weirdly makes sense for both parties. KAT isn’t going to work as the franchise guy in Minnesota, and Lillard paired with Edwards and Rudy would be pretty interesting. Blazers would get a major frontcourt talent, which is what they need. They have a loaded back court already with Simons, Scoot, and Sharpe, so really they need either draft picks or big wings/bigs.

Can’t blame Dame for wanting Miami though since they’re already on the cusp. Bam and Jimmy would complement his game very well.

I feel like after the first one today by Chams, EVERYONE needed to chime in on Dame, a whole lot of nothing on repeat after weeks of the same

idgaf I just want training camp to start.

  8. RealLanceStorm

Duh. It’s so funny how people used to trash Dame for not requesting a trade and now everyone is trying to make it seem like he’s Harden or Ben Simmons for doing just that.

Lots of extra toxic comments on here past few days about him. Then again, that sect of NBA fans probably just looking to be mean because they had to go back to jr high or high school last week.

I just want him traded so we have funny memes and comments on nba reddit again come onnnnn

dame’s agent is so fucking bad at his job man

If he wanted to go to Miami so badly why did he keep signing extensions with Portland. That limits your flexibility so much. He obviously wanted the bag and that’s understandable. He’s got like 4 years left on his contract and the last two years is like $120 million. That financial stability is what he wanted and now it’s harder to change course when the situation goes bad. It’s a risk but he wants no liability. I don’t blame him for trying to get both but it looks petty if it doesn’t work.

Still don’t understand why he wants Miami so bad. That team will be gutted to get him. They already lost Vincemt and Struss. Jimmy kind of faded in the playoffs (not taking away from his insane first 2 rounds). Love and Lowry are old as hell and going to regress. I know they made the Finals last year but I feel like there are better options than the Heat.

Should’ve signed to them in FA if he really wanted to be in Miami, sucks for Portland

  14. Aloha1984

Why not just void the contract and sign with whoever can take you?

  15. SUPER-NIINTENDO

Just get the fuck out already and let us move on

  16. HatefulDan

Seems like the team would be forced to ensure he plays, especially now after the new rules were released

Fentress is basically Dame’s media spokesperson and they’ll paint a rosy picture and whatever they want narrative to be portrayed. I don’t really put a lot of stock into his reporting re: Dame as he’s clearly biased.

Dame is Dame. Teams are gonna be interested. But are they willing to risk it? Is Portland willing to risk it and risk souring their reputation as a franchise? That’s the question. I think right now, Portland isn’t too keen on crossing that line. We will see what happens as we get into the season.

  18. matthitsthetrails

The same day? Oh wow Miami better just solve all of this and gut their roster to trade for him

  19. medievalmachine

Heat culture has been weaponized in a back alley Chinese rare animals market and is now virulent and spreading. Close your borders! Avoid contact with Jimmy Butler, Pat Riley and Alonzo Mourning at all costs! Detain Dan LeBetard and Shaquile O’Neal for further questioning. We must query Lebron James of how he was cured and test his brain for infection.

  20. VegetableBet4509

Wtf is it about Miami??? Not like they’re gonna run the league with Dame on the team, and he’s fucking rich so he can just buy a house down there anyways to enjoy the weather in the off-season.

Die a hero or live long enough to become a villain
