Giannis: “Before training camp, I’m going down to Houston & try to work out with Hakeem Olajuwon. Few people I worked out with: KG, Kobe, & Hakeem would be the 3rd guy. I love his game. If I can take few things from his game, it’s going to be a blessing. It’s a guy I’ve looked up to my whole life”

Lots of people trained with Hakeem but none were like him. It’s not like Hakeem does anything fancy. It’s just fundamentals and it just works

Any basic generic post moves he needs to learn. I’ll be surprised if he even comes back with anything new ir more refined

I’m surprised he didn’t do this a lot earlier in his career. He would have learned and adapted drop steps, ball fakes, back to basket spins, up and unders, etc so much quicker than at this stage of his career.

I feel like he may come off less fluid and more robotic this stage of his prime. I mean it will help some, but I don’t expect a post move revaluation from him this season.

Imagine Giannis with Lukas craftiness and footwork under the basket. I feel like we could have seen this if he focused on that aspect with Hakeem and other bigs when he was a teen and early 20s.

I feel like tons of guys have said they’re gonna work with Hakeem and you know what they don’t become a post up powerhouse. Either way developing another way to score inside, and a way that has almost been phased out of the game Bc it’s so inefficient, isn’t what Giannis needs. What he needs is to be able to shoot. He’s getting older and more physicality probably doesn’t give him another title.

About time! The Kobe routine got Giannis 1-2 vs the Heat and 0-1 vs the Raptors in the playoffs (good defenses)

  6. Wasn’t it Gainnis who said (a few years ago) that he’d never spend that much money on a day’s worth of practice? Or am I mistaking someone else for him?

I thought Hakeem was only allowed to work out with Rockets players these days, but I’m glad Giannis got an exception.

There was a few years where “worked out with Hakeem this summer” was an annual offseason meme. As a total coincidence they stopped around the time Ben Simmons got drafted.

Dwight Howard did as well. Wouldn’t get too excited, Dwight still had no skill in the post after.

Don’t waste Hakeem time lil buddy. Go train with shaq or Tyson chandler

Over 20 years later and everybody still wants to be Dream.

Its rare that ppl seek to get better, hopefully it translates.

I remember it was Hakeem who told us about the meaning of Giannis’ surname. This is gonna be good

I think Giannis played soccer growing up so he’s got that going for him and I believe a genuine desire to improve his game. Hopefully the Hakeem camp pays off for him.

  15. Cannot wait for PG’s future impression of Giannis saying “I’mHittingHimWithLateralMovement! HeCantDoAnything!”
