Swap Boucher and Thad (better player will be better for PHX, Thad’s expiring better for Portland).

so we keep Gradey and give another 1st instead? not sure if giving the 2029 pick is worse or better

One of those picks need to go to the suns

OG still has tremendous demand around the league, allowing Portland to re-trade him and get additional value. The two Toronto 1sts are appealing a few years out. Ayton is a long term Nurkic replacement with still high upside.

Phoenix turns Ayton into 3 solid veterans in a win-now season.

I know many Raptors fans will rage at me and say you keep OG if the goal is to compete with Lillard. I’d agree, but there’s points on the other side too. The goal is to have definitive roles for players. We still face an issue of too many mouths to feed if we’re keeping OG, Pascal and Lillard. Scottie right now projects as a great #3 on the offensive side with elite facilitating skills. Pascal is obviously one of the best 2nd options and Lillard becomes our de-facto offensive threat akin to getting elite FVV on a nightly basis. More importantly, he puts everyone back in their best suited place on the pecking order. Poeltl thrives in this setup too.

The noise about Lillard not wanting to report here is overstated imo. As he said, he is very familiar with the business optics of the league and putting out the messaging he is would make the FO hesitant to pull the trigger on this deal. But once its done, he will report and play. I’m sure Norm got in his ear a bit about how Toronto was a special place to play.

Those are the quick points from me but curious to get other thoughts.

    I like it

If we could also dump Flynn for like Jeenathan Williams and then go sign T Ross or TJ Warren or a vet like that….we got a formidable squad

    Jakob/Siakam/Barnes/Trent/Lillard
    Koloko/Precious/Mcdaniels/Dick/Schroder

Add T Ross to hang out with G Temple for extra depth

We would match up well against Boston….

    Jakob on Porzingis

    Siakam on Brown

    Barnes on Tatum

And Lillard on an island since there’s no one stopping him on Boston

Swap Gary for OG 👀 lol nah I’m just being greedy

  7. Maya-Inca-Boy

I need OG here if we get dame, get rid of Scottie instead.

  8. Raptorsthrowaway1

I like this format. Chris gets moved at the deadling for a couple of second rounders creating additional value for Portland.

  9. onamor_tap

All these trades just ignore the fact that the suns could get a much more suitable return for ayton if they just seek a trade outside of any Dame deal

I had something similar but with OG going to the Suns. I figure from the Suns perspective they’re trading Ayton for Nurk+OG to shore up their defence, From the Blazers perspective they’re getting Ayton as a youngish centre to pair with their young guards along with some picks and cap space from cuttable players. I don’t think they really need OG to bring it the finish line as much as the Suns need something like that

Not even a legal trade because we can’t trade any FRP before 2028.

How does this trade make the Suns better? Nurkic has an argument for the worst defensive C in the league on a team that strictly needs a defensive C who can set picks and rim run. That’s the opposite of his game. Suns never go for this.

This is a really poor return for Dame. Blazers say no.

This trade is only glorious for Toronto and shit for the other teams.

So 2 1st’s, OG and a bunch of garbage (negstive assets) gets us Dame? Yeah uhhh good luck with that.

  13. Why tf are we the ones giving up the farm and the Suns get to unload a contract they dont want while losing absolutely nothing.

  14. LastNightsHangover

I do like the bones of this trade.

I think Chris goes to Suns and they get some light pick compensation, but just details.

    So really,

Portland, gets a great forward/C rotation with
    OG Grant Ayton
they have young guards and an unprotected Raps pick is attractive.

Suns, Nurk Chris and a 2nd is rough for your 1st overall pick, but it isn’t terrible for return for this season.

Obviously Raps would do OG Chris (Thad OPJ for money) one 1st and one 2nd for Dame. The 2nd FRP is harsh. I think Precious could be enough as a sweetener for either Portland or the Suns
