I get why Wolves fans hate Jimmy. The story hurts me pretty bad too, especially the parts where he shows up with the logo cut out of his practice clothes. But you’re an idiot if you think his whole haircut shit is anything more than trolling. And I love that about him, that he trolls the media. These guys are athletes. Yes they are entertainers as well, and the whole reason they make money is because the league makes money, and the reason the league makes money is because people watch. So the media aspect is important. I get it. But at the same time, these guys are athletes. That’s why they get paid, because they’re fuckin elite athletes. The fact that they have these requirements about how much they need to engage with the media, is just kinda gross to me. It’s so capitalistic. And now with that we’re getting into other things but that’s my feeling on it. And personally I love when athletes push back on that bullshit capitalist requirement. I can relate to it I guess. Fuck having to be charismatic, they’re athletes and when they were kids, they wanted to be in the NBA for the basketball, not for the media coverage. I respect when a player brings an energy that suggests that background.
barryvon
he was obviously having fun, but is every joke a “troll?”
if it was a troll it backfired because he gave the media everything you mentioned here. it was charismatic, it was engaging, it was entertaining, and it gave the media something to talk about.
