I’m just a UK casual, but that answer seemed vague regarding if he actually said those comments and believed them at the time. Just “as a GM I’d never approve those comments for the public.”
It would be good to see the Nuggets do well, but if you’re healthy, the only thing that could really derail the team would be disharmony in the squad. And these comments reek of returning in the media one day if there’s a down period.
Like can imagine skip bayless or first take pulling these comments up in a few months, if MPJ or the Nuggets have a poor couple weeks at any point. As proof that “behind the scenes this is believed by his teammates etc.” Don’t give the media stuff to use to try and stop the Nuggets trying to repeat.
Thankfully Malone seems outspoken enough that he will probably go mad behind the scenes on this.
