[Azarly] Jamal Murray on what he’s seen from James Harden with the Clippers: “I would like him to shoot more, honestly! He can shoot it! … He does a good job playing at his own pace and getting other guys involved.”

Harden is currently averaging 16 on 65TS%. Do you think he should take more shots? If so, how many is okay?

Harden has sacrificed the most. 10 fga is way too low. Pretty plain to see he could still average 25 ppg. But he doesn’t care about numbers he didn’t want to come in and step on his boys’ toes.

Honestly, his scoring averages are fine to me since his playmaking is superb.

What I don’t like is how he refuses to do catch and shoots. Idk. Maybe he’s really not used to do that

damn even the opposing teams see it. james being too nice, but i get it.

That and paint pressure. His drive and kick game, his lobbing, etc are all elite and he can draw fouls to make up for the BS no calls on Kawhi

I appreciate his selflessness but its true. He needs to shoot more. There are times where he has a shot and passes it up to the open Mann. Then we reset because Mann passes up the open shot.

  7. It’s tough because he’s such a great shooter and I do think it makes sense for him to take more shots; but whose shots should he be taking away? Looking at last night, PG had 20, Kawhi had 16, zu had 7, Mann had 2, Theis had 8, Brodie had 8, Powell had 12, and brown had 4.

You could say Brown should shoot less, but we kinda want him to keep trying to get involved. We are a better team if he can find a way to contribute (as a PF). Maybe Powell takes a few less shots, and whoever is less hot between Kawhi and PG? We could probably get 15 shots from Harden like that…idk.

Good problem to have, though. I think we are starting to see the world where Harden makes everyone around him a better shooter.

Harden is past the phase of his career where it’s all about him and getting scoring titles/mvps. All our vets are really. They want to win a championship. The media may paint this picture of a bunch of guys just messing around in LA, but they’re all passionate seasoned professional basketball players.

Harden is a bit different than I thought he’d be but he definitely has shown the potential.

    Positives:

    – He is the point guard that we needed. Up there with CP3 on his vision.

    – He is total unselfish so far… even in a contract year.

    – He and Kawhi seem to have great rapport

    – He is trying on defense

    Negatives:

    – Maybe it’s just conditioning but he seems a little bit washed as far as getting by guys consistently and finishing at the rim… this is a major thing to watch for me.

Overall, Kawhi and PG needed a point guard… and we got one. They are decent ball handlers but are not great at orchestrating an offense. They need to get the ball at their spots on the floor as opposed to bring it up.

If Russ and Harden lineups are going to come back. Then harden needs to focus on just scoring with Russ playmaking for him.

If Russ and Harden lineups don’t feature PG and Kawhi they can feast. This clippers team is seriously a problem, a few more rotational forwards and this is real.
