Thought he was gonna be like seriously could have been the best power forward like we could have been talking about is it Tim Duncan is it Derek Coleman and and Coleman just kind of like didn’t take his pro career seriously but when he was in college I was like oh he is so

Good so that’s why I wore number 44 uh little a little trivia there and four and a half minutes of not talking Celtics basketball so everybody knows I go ahead put in the comment section put it at 426 Celtics Talk starts at 426 uh go for it so uh all right Chris

Al bingus is out against the Phoenix Suns hamstring there’s no indication that this is anything serious H but people are like wait a second why isn’t he playing yet uh Tom I don’t know you are you expressing any level of concern or are you just kind of like yeah I mean

I would say I’m expressing the standard amount of concern that you express for a hamstring injury right like hamstrings are like it’s not you know it’s not like season ending or anything but it’s just like you don’t like to see it like it NS most annoying the most annoying thing

That and a groin injury for B well I feel like I feel like a groin injury is is like more like aggressively concerning than a hamstring like hamstring is like it’s just like it just sticks around and could come back at a really inopportune time so to me it’s

Like you know like this is about as good as it can get right now right it’s like take your time take your time take your time take your time take your time get back do everything you got to do let Al Horford start for a bit he’s that man is

That man’s pretty fresh he’s had a lot of yeah he’s had a lot of rest time this year he can he will be fine and also if Al needs a night off Luke cornette he’s beening great really good just a good player Xavier Tillman playing really great just roll it it’s

Get healthy for the playoffs because I obviously that’s the thing that matters obviously the Celtics are going to be the number one seed I think their magic number is like eight right now to be the on in the Eastern Conference like 13 they’re gonna be great uh so yeah I

Think I think that’s exactly what this is I think it’s make sure that it’s 100% And when it’s 100% let’s sit him out two more games just make sure sure that he’s you know and we’ll slowly ramp him back up and so he might he might already be

Healthy and they’re just saying hold him out cuz we’re home yeah this might be two games yeah this could be this could be one of those games like yeah he is so critically important to what the Celtics are going to do in the playoffs yeah because it’s done the East is done the

NBA uh overall top seed is not done but it’s getting there it’s pretty close uh the Celtics are going realistically they’re probably going to like if like we all kind of know who we think is going to come out of the West so like you know Celtics have a bigger lead on

Them anyway so right so it’s fine so uh if if the Celtics had after the two losses in Cleveland and Denver continued to Cascade a little bit maybe maybe you would have brought porzingis back a little bit just to be like hey okay let’s let’s stop the bleeding he’s fine

He’s good let’s let’s play him and maybe do play sit play sit and kind of like work work him back in or whatever but regardless you there’s no rush so get him 100% right because you’re right like the the hamstring any kind of soft tissue any

Kind of strain like that you could sit there and be like no it’s good it’s good they’ve got so many different machines and methods of testing like they they have the Baseline of a player’s like strength and how fluidly he can move whatever he can do with the hamstring they’ve got

Everything measured and unless you’re like there with that he can lift this much with his leg and he can jump this high and he can do it in this amount of time unless he’s absolutely perfectly at his Baseline they’re they shouldn’t as opposed to like I don’t know Jaylen or

Jason who kind of have a better feel for you know like those guys are like yeah you can you can work with them and they’ll play through some stuff uh so yeah I me jaylen’s jaylen’s hamstrings have been hit or miss they have been they have been that’s right and and

That’s right so any kind of like strain muscle strain lower leg muscle strain you don’t mess with it especially 18 games uh left in the regular season this is not the time this is the the beauty of kind of like the timing of this is all right get him absolutely perfect

Then slowly start ramping him up maybe on a minute’s restriction when he starts to get back and then by the end of the regular season he’s up to 30 plus minutes and ready to play his normal uh workload and like I said cornette has been great um I I I was curious about

His alley oops because i’ like man he’s catching a lot of lobs uh he’s he’s being thrown lobs at the same rate Rob was thrown lobs last season per minute like he’s he’s getting the same amount of lobs uh not finishing as well as Rob because Rob dunked them all and and you

Know Luc is laying in a few of those and and some of those are rolling out but he’s they’re still throwing them at the same rate so Luc is been great Tillman had a great game he’s he’s kind of sliding in nicely Soh yeah I think

That’s I think it’s fine agre uh now so that’s all set so we’ll see we’ll see how that goes against the Phoenix Suns but frankly since since we brought up cornette real quick can I just give him his flowers for that uh for that I haven’t seen a wife kill

You’re like oh that’s juicy there’s a reason behind it but when it comes to Isaiah Thomas facade melts away he is like he loves Isaiah Thomas it just makes sense I think Isaiah is done with the this notion of I want to come back to the NBA because I

Still feel like I can play in the NBA I think he wants to come back in the NBA because he wants to be in the NBA and when he says I love this stuff so much um I think he just he misses being on a team he misses the competition he

Misses just being around it um he knows that he’s not coming back to sign a $10 million contract he’s coming back to sign a minimum contract if he signs anywhere but that attitude and first of all he’s got guys like when when I when uh Al Horford came to Boston Isaiah

Thomas was a selling point like that was that was a selling point Jaylen Brown was here in Boston while Isaiah Thomas was here so there are connections to this current roster um it’s I I I I feel like the the one thing that they’ve been missing since that mid2

Team is that edge that that chip on the shoulder right like as much as I’m confident in this team they are full of first of all they’re full of level-headed guys which is great you need that but you also kind of it would be nice to kind of have like that

That that dog that for a lack of a better turn that guy who’s just like you know what I’m I am not going to be levelheaded I’m going to actually be pissed off when we lose I’m going to come in here and I am going to flip a

Table I am going to be like passionate like that there is a place for that and I do think the Celtics for all of the confidence that I have are missing that that guy that Fu guy and I think Isaiah can guys respect him and I think like Al

Horford respects him and Al Horford has the room so if anybody in the in the room doesn’t respect Isaiah then you don’t respect Al Horford so Al Horford would kind of like command that and set the tone and I think Isaiah’s attitude is just that one little bit that one little

Thing that that can help push this team that little extra bit right it’s like for lack of a better term running a race versus running a race with the wind at your back and you could be pretty damn fast but if you get a little bit of a

A ring Isaiah Thomas could win a ring with the Celtics if sign with this team like come on that would be that would be a hell of a please Brad do this for me like I I mean because like truly like you look at this roster this roster is

So complete they have so many good players up and down every position is just so well filled with good good players you’re not getting anybody with that 15 spot who’s G to probably move the needle like that you know like I mean I I just I don’t I don’t see you

Know where where that player’s gonna come from What’s It Gonna Hurt give him a shot get him a ring get him a contract I’m all in let’s do this thing there’s the two there’s two reasons that I can think of for not doing it one is purely

Guys would love it but this is the point point where you’re like if we do this does it derail in any way this levelheaded straightforward approach that we’ve been cultivating cultivating from the beginning this team’s identity this team’s culture has been focused on doing things the right way we’re not

Worried about this other stuff we’re not worrying about narratives we’re not worrying about all this focus on doing what you do do it the best possible way and that’s it ringing in Isaiah does change that from the outside so I think there is a legitimate kind of uh

Hesitation from the Celtics when they sit here and they they hear us and certainly not us because people have written stories Globe the athletic people have written stories about Isaiah Thomas he’s very front and center right now because the team is too good they are frankly a little bit boring at this

Point There’s Tom I have never struggled to write a story as much as I’ve struggled over the past two nights to figure out because I have to write a game story and then like a feature story after each game for Boston Sports Journal I I spent 45 minutes last night

After posting my game story thinking what am I even gonna write about what’s the what’s the story the Celtics answered runs like that that became my story like so that’s they answered runs congratulations um so they’re they’re a little bit boring right now the Celtics until the playoffs start there’s an 18

Game stretch here where it’s like yeah yeah you’re gonna clinch we know you’re going to clinch yeah you’re G to ramp up guys you maybe some experimentation but like get us to the first round please get us to the first round we’re ready this this would gladly for me fill

That void but for the Celtics they know people like me and and other journalists around the team would so happily like eat up that story that they’re like uh maybe it’s maybe that’s a little too much right now I don’t know what do you think about that I think it’s shut up is

What is it too legitimate of a point oh I think it’s a very legitimate point I mean because like this team’s goal is obviously to win a title um that’s like that you know that’s that’s as high level as a goal gets I think that’s all

Very fair I would say that’s why you do it now get all the sideshow stuff out of the way 18 games yeah like okay journalists are bored you guys are bored don’t pick anything apart don’t do any of that don’t start like inventing narratives don’t like point out that um

I think there there was a tweet floating around I didn’t even investigate if it was real or not that Jaylen liked something that was like if Jaylen Brown was the number one player on a team he would be an MVP kid inate something don’t don’t let the media focus on that

Don’t do that here have an Isaiah Thomas 18 that’s fair that’s fair that’s fair like let the fans get it all out of the system like the we want it let them get that out of their system now let let that all happen and then when the

Playoffs come around then you got your your PJ brown right you got your guy who comes in one time wins one game for you and you’re like you know everybody everybody goes crazy and it’s a super fun story you know y like get it out of

Do it now give us a give us something to write about it the Counterpoint to my own argument is that you bring back Isaiah Thomas and he gets all of this love and you show these guys even like Tatum and brown because they they already know it

Yeah but like there there would be nothing like reinforcing the message to these guys be like look man what did Isaiah do in what two season two seasons in Boston all he did was win when he wasn’t supposed to and play his ass off and just love this city all he did was

Love this city and the city loved him back so much that he is a legend he did things that were unspeakable here things that no one would expect now look at him coming back look at how much love he’s getting you think that you guys know what it’s like no Isaiah knows watch

What Isaiah gets when he gets out there when and all it takes playing hard laying it out on the line and embracing this city that’s all it takes and you become a legend like Isaiah Thomas and and Isaiah didn’t even win anything he didn’t win the championship right think

About the love that Isaiah gets how much people love him Tatum has accomplished more in his time in Boston a ton more and the The Narrative around him is like ah he’s a choker he can’t do like there’s still like people who that’s not everybody but like yeah there’s enough

Of that there’s no hatred for Isaiah Thomas in Boston minimal hatred uh from people who probably don’t like themselves either but anyway point is the counterargument to my original argument is that he would be one hell of an example to this group to be like hey

Man think about think about what he is who he is and how he got here and that’s all you need to do and that that’s part of a champion formula it’s probably not even necessary but it also sends a message to I I I honestly I don’t even

Think it’s necessary at this point but I would I do think it would send a message to the rest of the NBA as well like hey like I know you guys all thought that like you know Trader Dany all that stuff that this guy had no loyalty Trader

Danny’s gone this is a new regime we reward the people you know like you could kind of like sell that perspective about Brad oh my God Brad correcting the mistakes you know what saying look Brad comes in corrects all of Danny Ang’s mistakes brings Isaiah back brings the

Good Vibes back to Boston snaps all the jinxes and curses and Celtics win a championship my God Brad they would give him a seat they they put a statue of him sitting next to Red arback over at Quincy Market they just put a bronze of Brad sitting on the other side of the

Bench that would that would be awesome they should like yeah he should bring back Isaiah and and yeah make that happen uh so ultimately I’m Pro I’m Pro Isaiah I’ve I’ve flipped uh I think the circumstances are now right the circumstances are right bring them back

Bring Isaiah back I I should I should couch all of this in with like with like the caveat that like I’m overly Pro Isaiah like I was there for like every Isaiah Thomas game like I like yeah like I I’m sorry like that was the most

Electric I’ve ever like that was just it was so cool like it was such a cool experience to be there for that like to to just kind of his I don’t know that that that aura around around him and around just like you know that I mean

I’ve told you I don’t I don’t know if I’ve said it on the Pod but I’ve told you like about just like I mean the the the after his sister’s death like those were some of the most like powerful experiences I’ve ever just been at you

Know like just the the way the city embraced him was really so I’m very you know kind of gonna be Pro Isaiah Thomas For Better Or worse so uh yeah no man I agree with you 100% bring this man back think about from getting tossed against

The Lakers in his debut which is just perfect just perfect to all of that stuff that you were just talking about to leaving and then coming back winning a championship and just being like just oh my God oh my God yeah yeah I need it yeah that would be that would be amazing
