1:39 Youβve been overlooking the fact that the Alamodome hosts UFL games and that a team lives there in the San Antonio Brahmas and last year they hosted the XFL Championship
I get it about the arena downtown San Antonio but the Baseball stadium for a semi pro team is a waste of time and money for not trying to get a Major League Baseball team and Major League are explaining new cities with new teams.
I live in San Antonio. The current Frost Bank arena (formerly AT&T Center) is only 22 years old. It was designed for basketball and concerts, and is just fine. Sight lines are excellent and there are plenty of corporate boxes and concession stands. But, yes, itβs not in a great part of town and there are no restaurants, bars, or nightlife spots around it β just poorer residential and some warehouses. Seems a shame they built it there in the first place, but it was falsely touted to be the lynchpin of renovation and development on the less than desirable East Side. But none of that development or renovation ever occurred.
So, yeah, a new location would be better. But SA is not a wealthy city, so if theyβre looking for substantial public funding, I believe it may not happen.
It's basically going to be put a block away from the old Spurs arena that was torn down in 1995. The Convention Center Arena was a great place for games and concerts, very loud for both.
That's why it is important to get the location right the first time. This arena is barely 20 years old and they are wanting to move and I can understand it. That arena is in a terrible location. NBA arenas need to be in a walkable vibrant area in the core of the city (not necessarily downtown but close to it).
The Spurs need to be in the heart of the city and not the boondocks. Good memories there but I hate where the current arena is located. There is literally nothing else around. It's Time to update for Wemby and future teammates. We Here We Coming… Go Spurs Go…
Yea the Spurs need a new Arena in a better side of town. The off set will be the parking in Downtown as it has tons of garages but not many open lots unless they use the Alamo Dome parking lot. Either way its time and it Victor stays it will be a must! Spurs arena is very nice inside but the outside is not the best look. GO SPURS GO!
The funny thing is thatβs where the Hemisfair Arena was originally and because of the Alamodome is why they demolished the arena. Spurs played at the dome for 10 seasons and yes they put the Frost Bank Center there to save money and all profits went back to the city.
The frost bank center was built with the hopes of developing the east side of the city, which has never been great. But that never worked out so Iβm glad to see them move back to downtown. Going to games at the Alamodome after hanging on the riverwalk is such a big memory from my childhood

The AlamoDome is also the home of the UFL's San Antonio Brahmas as well.

Chuck's gonna have a field day by just seeing a dirty lil' creek a mile close to the new potential stadium.
Is this guy trolling Wemby?
They used hotel taxes to pay for the Frost Bank Center I'd imagine they'd attempt the same thing with this one.
Crazy scenario. San Antonio votes no, and the spurs move to a more modern city like Austin

Is not that old arena
As an NBA fan! Its Nice to see NBA team getting new Homes for betterment for the Franchise!
San Antonio, TX Getting NHL Expansion Team Too.
The rendering in this video is FAN MADE!!!! Its not official from the SPURS. The reason i know this is because I made that rendering.

This rendering is not official from the spurs. Itβs fan made by my husband (who also commented here). He posted this rendering on X.

That part of the river in that rendering connects to the famous San Antonio River/Riverwalk.
San Antonio has one of the most outdated downtowns in the nation.
The Alamo Dome also hosts the San Antonio Brahmas in the UFL
You would think that the stadium would raise the property value of the neighborhood but itβs still ghetto π
Big Olllllllllllle Women π
one little promblem San Antonio host a rodeo every February, where are they going to have the Rodeo if they tear down the current building.
Our practice facility we built this year cost half a billion
Hopefull the new arena has some wide seats for those big San Antonio women. π
San Antonio is growing super fast soon we wonβt be a small market
The house that waybinyambuh built π½
Donβt like the idea of two big arenas on opposite sides of the highway.
Thank you Wembanyama for fixing this situation single handedly for the city of San Antonio!!!
I live in San Antonio … Will have No Parking, Nobody Living Here Goes Downtown … If They don't get this sweet deal done, Moving to Las Vegas

Alamodome: The House the Admiral built
Frost Bank Center: The House that Duncan built
New arena: The House that Wemby built.
it works π
The place where the frost bank center is is already occupied by a federal building. It is a court house
Key point you make on the timing of the development.
They have to start drafting a plan if they want to open this stadium during Wembyβs prime years , especially if they develop a contender.

Parking will be interesting
