SMU vs. North Carolina Condensed Game | 2024-25 ACC Men’s Basketball
The Tar Heels got their 10th win of the season and have won 4 of the last 6 as they defeated SMU at home, 82-67. UNC shot 47.4% from the floor and a blistering 50.0% from 3-point land. RJ Davis led all scorers with 26 points and grabbed 5 rebounds with 4 assists. Freshmen Ian Jackson and Drake Powell combined for 35 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the Tar Heels. Chuck Harris led SMU with 18 points and 4 rebounds.

Not a quad 1 win by any means, but a comfortable win that will hopefully help build momentum.

played like there playing for hubert's job….that said it was comfortable for a change a rarity this season but the acc is so bad this season out of like 4 teams who really knows at this point
My 3 favorite players on UNC are Drake, Ian, and Seth. I still rock with RJ, tho.

The ACC is in a historically down year. I still think Duke’s three contenders are UNC, Clemson, and Louisville. That being said UNC will have to make up for not having a traditional elite front court and small size guards in RJ and Cadeau. Trimble, Drake, and Jackson will all have to play to their ceiling for UNC to make a big run.
They're getting better as the year goes on. I am starting to enjoy watching them play again. It was a rough start to the season.
This is what can happen when Davis has his team playing defense, unlike every game prior to the Notre Dame game.

BENCH CADEAU, he's a liability and the weak link. He only had 1 assist against SMU at pg, Washington at center had 3 assists. He's responsible for a lot of turnovers and gets in foul trouble too easily. 17 team assists, Cadeau only responsible for one
Two very positive things happened for UNC in this game. They finally played decent defense (they can do better), and they finally maintained a lead in the first half of play. This is the first game that UNC has played in a while now where I didn't get pissed off at their effort and feel like changing the channel. They haven't convinced me yet though, that they will not resort back to playing like the keystone cops. Just playing wild, undisciplined basketball. We will see. Up next NC State.

Defensive intensity a lot better this game especially considering they lead the conference in scoring. Ian and Drake getting so much better already

this win was promising for us and i will leave it at that. Consistency is the next step.
I thought we set the tone defensively and were more “connected” when dealing with switching and help side and those type of things. When we play good defense or team potential is at a WHOLE nother level.
On offense, minus the TOs this was actually one of our more Fluid games as far as how we attacked the defense and worked the ball inside (finally) and then kicked out for open shots. And we actually hit 3s today which we’ve been struggling to do most of the year.
