DO THESE MAKE SENSE? Reacting to fan-submitted trade ideas for the Cleveland Cavaliers & Cam Johnson
With all of the winning they’ve done so far this season, the Cleveland Cavaliers seemingly don’t have that much room for improvement, though recent trade rumors have connected them to Brooklyn Nets forward Cam Johnson.
The Athletic’s Joe Vardon reported on Friday that rival officials believe the Cavaliers’ trade interest in Johnson is “more serious” than simply them doing their due diligence.
However, a new update may put that belief in question. NBA insider Jake Fischer indicated on Saturday that while the Cavaliers have indeed called about Johnson, their pursuit of the 28-year-old “hasn’t advanced much further to this point,” making Cleveland’s interest seem “preliminary at best.”
“Cam Johnson trade chatter will continue to circulate until Brooklyn actually trades the sharpshooting swingman,” Fischer wrote.
“The Nets, though, have indicated to rival teams that they aren’t as determined to move Johnson as they were to ship out Dennis Schröder and Dorian Finney-Smith. Schröder is headed for unrestricted free agency this summer and Finney-Smith can join him if he declines a $15.4 million player option. Johnson, on the other hand, has two seasons left on his four-year, $94 million contract, which descends in salary to $20.5 million for 2025-26.
“Brooklyn has thus maintained a high asking price for Johnson. The Nets have sought as many as two first-round picks packaged with a young player in conversations with certain teams, sources say. And if Brooklyn doesn’t find a deal to its liking, it’s not hard to imagine Johnson remaining a Net despite the constant news media speculation about his future and all the genuine interest from around the league.
“Any interest from Cleveland, as such, seems preliminary at best. The Cavaliers have indeed called on Johnson, sources say, but their approach for the 28-year-old hasn’t advanced much further to this point. Maybe that changes over these next two-plus weeks (after The Athletic’s Joe Vardon first reported the talks.) It just seems unrealistic that Cleveland could meet the Nets’ demands without a real first-rounder available to headline a trade package until 2031.
“If there’s any move anticipated leaguewide from the East-leading Cavs, it would be Cleveland shedding some salary to reduce its luxury-tax bill before an expensive roster hits repeater tax territory over the next few seasons.”

OKORO/TYSON 2031#1…multiple 2'3…2030 pick swap. + salary fillers(Thompson/Porter/NIANG/LEVERT) some combination…have to avoid being complacent…we need a starting SF!!!!!!! Cam J is exactly what we need…and he is signed!!!!!!!!
Mychal bridges is the best fit for Cavs or something like that is what I would be looking for
Okoro has always given Jayson Tatum problems. With O's improved 3 point shooting NO WAY including him for C. Johnson makes sense, unless u like Celtics more than Cavs.
Is it possible to keep the same squad together for a couple more years? They’re so fun to watch and have a real chance of going all the way.
Levert is a UFA…Cavs didn't even want to sign Okoro…..Cam J is signed!!!!!!!!!!!! Levert/Okoro and picks should get it done!!!!
When it comes to playoff basketball, you need as many players with diversified skill sets as you can get which includes size
Now that I watched the entire video Mikey….Cam J and Sharpe to the Cavs just may be their 2 targets…Levert will have to be 1 of the Cavs going for sure because of the $ match(I'm sure that JB would like to get Levert instead of Okoro in Detroit!) But the NETS want young players(that's where Okoro and Tyson come in along with picks..2031 #1 and multiple 2's…maybe even a pick swap!!! That could be the deal….CAVS get Cam J and SHARPE….NETS get Okoro,Tyson and Picks and Pistons get Levert!
Can you please do a podcast on all of our options on the wing and trade scenarios on how to get them: Cam Johnson, DeAndre Hunter, Jimmy Butler, Jerami Grant, Andrew Wiggins, Larry Nance, Kyle Kuzma ( w/JonasV) and Bridges
We can give up Levert and some picks
Trades are going to break the unbroken why do you want to mess what is working perfectly. Keep this locker room as is leave them alone and keep those suggestions to yourself
I think We need Cam Johnson if We face the Hawks, Thunder, Celtics in the playoffs
Nets already stated, they are looking for picks. Thats the button line, entertaining players isnt worth your time. They want picks, they are rebuilding.
I’d take cam Johnson if we don’t lose okoro
First trade no. If we lose okoro keep levert if we lose levert keep okoro.
We can’t move okoro and levert together. Or strus
We will lose if we get rid of both levert and okoro we can’t do that. Both are our glue guys. Levert prolly has more value maybe just one
If they're not going to get a productive center, they need a tall productive forward that plays 3,4 or 5. God forbid a big gets hurt
