Lakers accepting the deal doesn’t mean they want to experiment with Luka and LeBron it means they’re ready to get out of the LeBron business and move on with Luka and mavs wanting to pair AD with Kyrie they’re hoping they stay healthy and make a good playoff push.
Luka isn't even bad defensively. There was a clear coaching decision to have them funnel the Celtics to the rim because they believed in their bigs and probably wanted to run them off the three point line. The reason they lost the finals is because Mavs offense struggled and their bigs couldnt stop the drives to the rim. Look at Luka in isolation, he led in OPFG% against him in isolation. Is he ever going to be a lockdown? No. But a defensive liability? Be serious.
