The Milwaukee Bucks Have OFFICIALLY Hit Rock Bottom…
In the NBA, things can change fast. So, if you’re looking at a group right now and you’re thinking to yourself, “Yeah, they’re set for the next five years,” there’s probably a better chance that over half of that roster will be gone by then, and their outlook will look nothing like the dreams held today. The Milwaukee Bucks were NBA champions just four short years ago, with arguably the most talented young superstar in the game leading the way at the time, and they had every avenue to become a dynasty in the making. Yet, ever since that season, things have only gotten progressively worse and worse, and now it’s not crazy to say that the franchise has officially hit rock bottom. In today’s video, we will be going through how exactly the Bucks have gotten here, where they went wrong, what their options are moving forward, and why the unfortunate truth about their situation is going to sting for a while. Before we start though, it turns out a good amount of you watching right now aren’t even subscribed to the channel. So, if you enjoy the content, consider hitting the subscribe button as not only does it help out a ton, but it also very much appreciate it. Now, with that being said, let’s begin. In 2021, the future looked bright for Milwaukee, having just taken down the Phoenix Suns in the NBA Finals behind an other worldly finals performance by Jiannisko, capped off by a 50point game in game six to clinch the series. They were on top of the world with the best player in the world leading the way and they deserved every bit of that joy. So if you were to say to anyone back then that the Bucks would never even make the conference finals again in the Giannis Dumpo era, not only would you be called a crazy person, but you’d definitely be looked at like an irrational hater. And yet here we are in the year 2025 and that is the reality with the Bucks having won just one single playoff series since that championship run. This was a group that had been built on a dominant defense with a balanced lineup that could lock teams up inside and out with Drew Holiday being one of the league’s premier perimeter defenders for a decade and Brook Lopez emerging as one of the most steady interior defensive presences in the game alongside Janathan Dmpo who plays like a free safety rotating well causing havoc and making plays on defense wherever necessary as he is a defensive player of the year winner too. In 2023, the Bucks were once again looking like the favorites to go all the way, finishing as the one seed in the East with the number four ranked defense in the league. But the issue was that their offensive firepower was starting to regress fast, and the playoffs were a very rude awakening for just how disastrous that regression became. Drew Holiday’s work as a two-way stud was starting to become a bit more one-sided as his offensive creation wasn’t quite at the same level that it was during his 20s. And with him being 32 years old, Father Time started to take over. A combination of Father Time and injuries also hit Chris Middleton hard. And that was the first year that he was no longer even looking like a borderline all-star caliber player after being one of the most consistent and steady secondary scorers in the league previously. Too many of their role players were specialists, forcing them to sacrifice in other ways in order for their lone strengths to shine, such as their sharpshooters, for example, being defensive liabilities or their stronger defenders failing to provide much on offense. All of this came crashing down when they met the eight- seed Miami Heat in the first round of the playoffs and were slain by a superhuman version of Jimmy Butler, who played some of the best basketball of his entire life in that series. The embarrassment of being a one seed, losing to an eight seed in the playoffs, is no laughing matter, and it served as the wake-up call that the front office needed to take drastic measures. So when Damen Lillard officially requested a trade that off season, the Bucks saw an opportunity to propel themselves right back to the top in a way that could also address their worrying offense. Rumblings had also begun to transpire about Jiannisko possibly wanting out if changes didn’t get made soon. So even though Lillard desperately wanted to play for the Miami Heat that off season, the Bucks snuck in under their noses and stole him away, bringing him in to revive their sinking ship. In theory, the pairing of Damen Lillard and Janosan Dakmpo was a lethal one with Dame coming off of multiple seasons averaging 30 or more points per game, striking fear into defenses with his unlimited shooting range and his ability to get hot in a hurry. And pairing that with a dominant interior scoring force like Giannis genuinely had the NBA world shook. That plus a new head coaching hire in Adrien Griffin at the time inspired hope for the new era. And early on in his first season together, there may have been some growing pains, but they still got off to a hot start with a record of 30 wins and 13 losses in their first 43 games at just about the halfway point. But we have now reached the point where things have really started to tumble south because despite winning games, the Bucks then chose to fire head coach Adrien Griffin inexplicably barely half of a season into his first tenure there. And in his place, they hired Doc Rivers to replace him, who, let’s just say, has had a pretty bad track record over the last decade. I’m going to be honest with you all. I am not a fan of Doc Rivers’s work whatsoever. And it has become very clear that his reputation has coasted off of one championship run back in 2008 because no head coach has been at the helm of more disastrous collapses than he has. So with that, that was the nail in the coffin that sealed Milwaukeee’s fate. The Bucks would go on to have a losing record under Rivers to close out the year going 19 and 20. They finished as the three seed in the East after having been comfortably sitting in second place under Adrienne Griffin for most of the year. And unfortunately at the end of the season, both Damen Lillard and Jiannisan Dakmpo were dealing with injuries during that first round playoff series against the Indiana Pacers. So when the Bucks lost that series, they did have an excuse built in. Because of that, this season was always going to be the make or break point for this core because their core is continually getting older and Giannis’ patience is running thin. And unfortunately for them, they floundered. Chris Middleton officially looked like a cooked product with the injury stacking up. Father Time is definitely catching up to Damen Lillard despite his ability to produce at an all-star level. And the supporting cast is simply too flawed to overcome those obstacles. One of the biggest points of emphasis about the Damen Lillard acquisition was that the team knew they were sacrificing defense for an offensive bolstering in hopes that the offensive output could be greater than the hit they take on the other end. In reality though, the Bucks had one of the worst perimeter defensive units in the NBA with Lillard becoming a liability, Gary Trent Jr. being far from a plus on that end, Chris Middleton not being available enough to help, and none of the other role players making much of a difference. The team ranked 12th in the league on defense this season, mostly thanks to the work of their front court covering as much ground as possible. But in the playoffs, if you’re lacking in lockdown defenders, you’re not going to go very far. At the trade deadline, they made a move out of desperation, trading Chris Middleton to the Washington Wizards in exchange for Kyle Kosma, trying to rejuvenate Koozma’s days back when he was a Laker where he won a ring in 2020 as a role player. But Koosma is in the midst of one of his worst seasons as a pro and nothing about that changed once he got to Milwaukee as he proved to be a pretty big negative for them overall. Mind you, the Bucks had been the five seed in a pretty mediocre Eastern Conference this whole time. And then even more bad luck struck as Damen Lillard suffered from a blood clotting issue that held him out of the last few weeks of the year until the playoffs. Then when he was able to make it back by game two in the first round series against Indiana again, he clearly was not his normal self. And in game four of this series, he unfortunately tore his Achilles, which probably means he’s never going to be able to return to prior form. And that brings us to the present day where the Bucks, as the title of this video states, seem to be at rock bottom. Damen Lillard is still owed over $100 million over the next two years by the team. one of which he likely won’t even be playing nearly at all because of that torn Achilles. Brooke Lopez is hitting free agency this summer, but he’s also starting to regress pretty hard both as a shooter and defender after many years serving as a stretch to a big man. So, I’m not even sure if they would have interest in bringing him back anyway. Kyle Kosma is an erratic and streaky scorer at best who through eight seasons still has not learned discipline or has toned down his questionable shot selection. yet he’s going into next season as the team’s second best player. And then on top of all of it, the Bucks can’t exactly rely on the draft to help them reset because they’ve either traded away or owe a pick swap for all of their first round picks in the next four years. They have no first round pick this season. The Pelicans can swap picks with them next year, so they automatically get the worst of those two picks. They traded away the first rounder they had in 2027 and in 2028 they once again owe a swap to either the Trailblazers or the Wizards, meaning once again they are likely to land outside of the lottery. They have very little money to spend in free agency. They’re not a hot spot free agent destination anyway. They have no worthwhile draft capital and their second best player just suffered a careering injury. and their head coach is one of the most notorious choke artists of the last 15 years to top it all off. This begs the question, where exactly do they go from here? Well, according to ESPN reporter Shams Terrannia, Giannisko is expected to meet with the front office soon to discuss his future with the franchise. And I just do not see any way that that meeting results in anything other than a trade request. If it doesn’t come out with an immediate trade request, it will at the very least result in another ultimatum like the one that he made to the franchise in 2023, telling them to act aggressively to retool. Only this time, they don’t have the assets to make any more big swings like they did when they traded for Damen Lillard. The Lillard trade exhausted the last bit of their tradeable assets. None of the team’s role players really hold any substantial value, and they don’t have the cap space to swing big in free agency. Long story short, they’re cooked. And the most realistic avenue to explore is to trade Giannis for as massive of a package as they can find on the open market, expecting at least four or five first round picks included in the offer, similar to the returns that players like Paul George, Rudy Gobear, and even Male Bridges fetched on the trade market when they were moved demand at least one promising young player in the offer to give themselves a starting point for their rebuild and then go from there. Janadakmpo is 30 years old now. He’s no longer at the point where he’s going to want to have to have any more patience after four straight disappointing seasons. He’s an all-time great talent, a multipletime MVP winner, a champion, and a finals MVP who is far from satisfied with what he has accomplished so far and is still as hungry as ever to get back to the top of the mountain. And the cold hard truth is that getting there as a member of the Milwaukee Bucks is pretty much an impossible task. Now, the Damen Lillard Achilles injury unfortunately sealed the deal there. And watching the team blow a seven-point lead in less than a minute in their elimination game to the Pacers in the playoffs this year served as a pretty good representation of the team’s current status. Bucks fans should be proud of the group for winning a championship together, so they can be more than satisfied with the Giannis Anampo era on the Bucks. But they also have to understand that for the good of both Giannis himself and the organization, it is time to part ways. And with that being said, that’s all I have for you today. In this video we discuss how the Milwaukee Bucks are stuck in a disastrous situation and the only way out of it may be by trading Giannis Antetokounmpo…

I'm over the bucks haven't done anything for Giannis narratives. They've done everything he asked them to do and they got rewarded with nonstop season ending injuries
Bucks just got hit with pure bad luck with injuries. Tough but part of the game
Everytime a franchise is on the brink of collapse just be glad you're not the Dallas Mavericks.
This is why u don't cater to your stars, u make the best decision for your team, even if the stars don't like it. Now everybody got Giannis leaving even tho the bucks did almost everything he's ever asked for
No one was 'shook' when Lame Dame went to Wisconsin
I knew the Bucks would decline once they brought in Grayson Allen. Been downhill ever since even though Allen is gone.
Booker and Giannis just need to team up on a new team at this point because their franchises are cooked
Damian lillard clearly didn't want to be with the bucks, and it showed. It affected the team
I think Lillard might pick up the $58,456,566 option for 2026-27 😂
The Bucks deserve this collapse just from hiring Doc Rivers
He will stay Milwaukee one more year then go to the Lakers replacing Lebron
wild trade:
Giannis to Orlando for Banchero, KCP, Carter Jr. (and maybe picks)
MIL could rebuild around Banchero for the future.
ORL would be an instant contender with Giannis & Franz. Giving up Banchero means ORL doesn't have to give up (many) picks. Also Banchero would play the same position as Giannis so Franz is the better fit next to him
Hope Giannis brother is gone too. What a joke. Bucks gave Giannis everything he wanted.
Dame and Giannis Duo would had worked just not under Adrien Griffin and Doc Rivers. It would had worked if they kept Bud.
You can no longer build around players over the age of 30
Bucks front office decision making skills should be in question.
Doc ruined my team. 30 and 13 without him 🤦♂️
If the Bucks could have drafted a single good player since getting Giannis, they’d be in a different spot, but here we are.
Defense was this team identity or more than offensive
Having Giannis on your team and a ring doesnt seem like Rock Bottom to me. Rock bottom would be the Bucks in the 2000s. I think personally they should ride it out since they dont own their picks anway, just to see if Dame gets better. Or trade Giannis for a boat load of assets. If push comes to shove I dont see Giannis leaving of his own accord if the team wants him. Not unless the Warriors can afford him maybe. I guess looking on the bright side you still have the most physically dominant player in the league right now. So you have a major asset you can use to get out of this slump. Dame being a huge investment that didnt work out this season is rough, but it could be worse. At least Giannis is still Giannis.
7:43 a pretty mediocre Eastern conference…? Based
Rock bottom? Mil is just paying the bill for winning a title. Teams like Pels, Kings, Cha, and ATL are the real rock bottom.
Giannis should’ve never made public statements. Instead worked with ownership internally. Now in a panic they mortgaged their future. Time to trade him for the best package
Question for everyone and anyone. If the thunder decided to trade ihart and picks with Wiggins that should make the cap hit work. Is that a worthwhile trade.
I think the thunder can give them the most stuff if they wanted him.
The Question is does giannis at c work for okc or does he take the ball from shai too much. Can he dominate on d at c? Him chet shai dort williams seems pretty op and if the thunder don't win this yr i could see them being fed up with draft and grow and go all in on a trade.
Giannis still gonna say "We didnt Fail"
You forgot we were bought by the owner of the Browns. We gave up Divencenzo for a washed Ibaka. Picked only duds in the draft like Marjon Beuchamp. Resigned the worst GM. Doubled down on Lopez despite the fact he can't guard a broom. We gave up a first pick AND our only decent young player for Kuzma.
I think the only positive they got is they got Dame. That's it, they give up too much for Dame, managed to trade a "lower producing" middleton with someone who's producing even lower.
Most of all they managed to snatch that stream of water… fgs
Lol I love how whenever anybody talks about how ass the bucks have been for the past 4 years it’s like Giannis isn’t even on the team all of a sudden, dude is mad overrated
Thought this was gonna be a ytnm vid at first
IF you have a player getting paid the max but not playing like it, THEN you are cooked. Seems like it's nearly impossible to overcome.
Gianni made this bed he should lay in it but he won't he'll ask 4 a trade
That Dame contract is the most offensive thing I've ever seen in sports. Guess all his Conference Finals and NBA Finals wins really paid off for him.
Should’ve kept Jrue and Middleton
The doc ham duo ruined this team
I cant wait for the SB Nation Collaspe Video
The real question is: Which team will Giannis join.
