Nick Wright’s BOLD PREDICTIONS for Knicks-Pacers NBA Playoffs REMATCH | What’s Wright

I want to be like very clear. I think the Pacers are really good. I think they are they they they have been what did they start the year? Like cuz the Pacers I’m going to again this was something I probably should have pulled up before but I’ll just do it in real time after. So they started the season 10 and 15. Okay. Since then they finished the year with 50 wins. They’re 8-2 in the postseason. So they are now 58 and 34. So after starting 10 and 15, they have gone they have they’re 48 and 19. Is that right? Yeah, that is right. So, let me figure out what that is over the totality of a season. 48 divided by 67. That’s right. 4819. Yeah, that’s a 71 winning percentage over the course of 82 games. That’s a 59 win pace. So, they have been an excellent team basically for the totality of the season after the first 25 games. So, not the totality of the season, but you guys understand what I mean. since mid December they’ve been awesome and since you know they they went into the new year 16 and 18 and so you guys they have been again playing at almost a 61 pace for quite some time and obviously they were awesome in round one and round two of the playoffs. They also have seven guys they really trust and an eighth they’ll play in a pinch. Not I mean they’ll play more than in a pinch but an eighth in OB topping that they’re fine with. But Hallebertton, Seakum, Turner that is in today’s NBA uh more than competent top three when you have Nemhard, Nmith, Mattherin, McConnell rounding out your real sevenman rotation and Obi Toppin when you need him, that’s that’s plenty. So I think the Pacers obviously can win. I however do not think that they are better than the Knicks and I will take the Knicks in this series. I will take the Knicks tonight and I will take the Knicks in six games for the series. And I do think last year’s series against the Pacers for the Knicks is instructive in that that series went seven. Julius Randall, who obviously doesn’t play for the team anymore, but he was out for the series and they didn’t have Carl Anthony Towns in that game seven. OG Anobi, you know, was attempted to play, made two shots, then could do nothing. You can be like, well, but they don’t have Hartinstein like they used to. That’s true, but Hartinstein in that game seven was a total non-factor. I think he had zero points and Mitchell Robinson was hurt and obviously Jaylen Brunson got banged up in that series and in that game seven. The Knicks were in a position in that game seven where Precious and Alec Burks combined for like 50ome minutes. Deuce McBride, if I remember correctly, led the team in minutes that game. So they are a very different team. They didn’t obviously didn’t have bridges, didn’t have towns. Randall was hurt. So you it’s not a wash like well they didn’t have towns but they had Randall. No the And so I think last year’s series if anything should give the Knicks a little more confidence. I also think that the Knicks demolition of Boston the way it they did in that game six should give them a little more confidence. And the other thing about uh that playoff series or that game seven against the Pacers was the Pacers, if you remember it, were just shooting lightning bolts out their ass the entirety of that game. I don’t know if it was like the best percentage from the field of any team in a game seven ever. It was something insane. They scored 130. They shot like 65% from the field. And so I now maybe that’s too much time talking about game seven, but we haven’t seen game one yet when we’re recording this. I I like the Knicks tonight. I like the Knicks in the series. And now I will say fair is fair. a lot of the fa foul baiting stuff that we that I just ranted about with Sheay. If Sheay is the gold medalist of it this NBA season, obviously Brunson is the silver medalist, but Brunson has not been rewarded this postseason the way Shay has been. Brunson didn’t have a single game against the Pacers, I’m sorry, against the Celtics where he got to 10 free throws. Shot 747 994. And so, listen, Brunson will do more of the hardened stuff. Try to hook your arm and do it. He’ll do less of the I just fell down. But that that could be a very annoying and very difficult for the refs NBA finals if that’s what we get. And I think that’s what we’re going to get. I think it is going to be OKC versus the Knicks. And to kind of circle back to where we were on this, if this is how the rest of this series is going to be officiated in the Western Conference Finals, you are going to have the incredibly rare event of the casual uninvested NBA fan or sports fan rooting for the team from New York over the team from Oklahoma City because that is not going to be something fans in fans enjoy or or want to see rewarded as the champion. Now listen, Oklahoma City is now 75 and 18 on the year. They have one of the best defenses in the league has seen in the last maybe the best defense league has seen the last 20 years. They’re incredibly deep and at some point the NBA is going to announce league MVP and it’s going to be Shay and it should be Shay set. I said throughout the year when this, you know, once not throughout the year, but in the final couple months once there had been real evidence that Shay was the league MVP and rightfully so. The Thunder are a great great team. I would just I hope for the rest of the conference finals they’re playing by the same rules as everybody else has been this postseason.

Nick Wright shares his predictions for Jalen Brunson and the New York Knicks’ Eastern Conference Semifinals matchup with Tyrese Haliburton and the Indiana Pacers in the NBA Playoffs.

  1. I hate Nick having any kind of faith in the Knicks. As a fan, he’s a terrible omen considering how horrendous his playoff picks and title pies have been.

  2. Indiana is relentless on defense and knicks have no bench. I don’t see how the knicks get passed this one unless Indiana implodes like Boston. Even the pistons with a group of inexperienced 20 year olds had New York fighting for their lives.

  3. You’re leaving out the fact that Mathurin wasn’t playing and Haliburton was playing with a bad back and hamstring last year. Not to mention the team as a whole is super young and now have one more year of experience.

  4. Anybody using last post season as analysis proves they haven’t watched the Pacers. They are very different. The Knicks are different too especially with how they use Brunson. You can only go on how they played this post season. And when did taking care of business become a negative? How do we know teams don’t break down trying to keep up with the Pacers? The Cavs were fine game 1 then everybody was on the report. At some point, the narrative has to stop.

  5. So the Knicks beat the Celtics and it’s just New York grit and skill shining through but when the Pacers eviscerate a 64 win Cavs team it’s just “ah Knicks in 6”

  6. its also a lot different. brunson is drawing his fouls with footwork and fakes. Yes, he yanks his head back every now and then aswell. but shai is legit flopping and falling to the ground half the time. they shoot similar amount of FTs but the way they get them is not even remotely simillar

  7. i usually never agree with nick, but we took them 7 last year with our entire team on the fritz. Knicks are going to beat the pacers.

  8. I just want this series to go 7 deep. Great players…best two coaches left in playoffs…great fan bases, obviously. I pick Pacers in 7.

  9. Talking about last years matchup with the injuries but still took them to 7 games is such a lazy take on why the Knicks would win. Both teams are completely different and there's been a lot of growth since last year.
