Could the Milwaukee Bucks be a potential trade destination for DeMar DeRozan?

Could the Milwaukee Bucks be a potential trade destination for DeMar DeRozan?

Now to something that we didn’t see coming or at least I didn’t see coming when we spoke with Brett Seagull yesterday. And every time Brett Seagull comes on the show, he is a a fan favorite. He is a listener favorite. Go check that out on YouTube. And everybody always is on pins and needles when Brett has some things to say. So Brett hopped on the show yesterday. Check that out on the Sackown Sports app as well. and he brought up a team that we were not thinking about and I’ll just say the collective we in terms of Demar De Roza and it’s another team where it one of your main scores has now gone down and you have to find a way to keep your star happy and that team the Milwaukee Bucks. Now, obviously, it is on record that Giannis may or may not stay in Milwaukee. A couple different decisions to make right there. And once those decisions get made, we will have that conversation. This was Brett operating with the understanding that Giannis could stay. And if he does stay, we can have that conversation about what that says about Giannis. But if he does stay, what that means for the future of the Bucks, who will be without Damen Lillard for, I would assume, the whole season that he’s going to try to come back early. They always do. This is no joke. And Dame is what, 35 years old, maybe even 36. 30 between 34, 35, 36. Same age as Kobe Bryant. Same age as Kobe when he did it. So if Giannis says, I still want to stay. My family likes it here. We get another championship. That’s cool. Let’s just see what we can do. At least we’re in the east. I don’t want to deal with the west. I don’t want to go to Brooklyn. The I I just saw the Speedy who does uh he is a interviewer. He does a lot of content for Complex. He showed off a $7,000 a month apartment in New York. Okay. So, and it is not what $7,000 should look like. So, Giannis, even Giannis uh with with his kids and you know, he wants more more kids coming as well. I don’t know that I want to do the New York thing. Sure, but remember the original report was he owns property in New York. I understand that. And that’s why he’s going to the Nets. I understand that. So, hey, I want to stay in Milwaukee. So, does that make sense? And Kyle, we went back and forth and we kind of joked about a I don’t know if it’s a fan favorite or someone that the fans just got very tired of. I got fan spo open right here, Kyle. And yeah, because of Bobby Portoris’ player option and Demard de Rozan and his $24.7 million, which some days looks like a lot of money, some days does not look like a lot of money depending on who you’re moving him for. Kyle, is the real path here to get Dame? Because I see essentially I see two paths. The first path is Kyle Kosma, which I don’t like that path. The other path is to eat next season with Dame’s contract. He’s 34, by the way. Sorry, Dame. To eat Dame’s contract and pay him $54 million to do nothing. All no disrespect. And then next season, it’s his last season and then you get all that money off the books. If if if they could even pull that off. I haven’t cooked up any of this, but this is all based on Brett Seagull kind of the one nugget that he gave us. He gave us a lot of nuggets, but the one nugget that stuck out to me was Demar D Rose into the Bucks. Th those are the only two options I’m seeing, Kyle. Am I missing something? Uh, they would have to trade Malik Monk, but other than that, it would be possible. But at that point, like you said, you’re just signing Dennis Schroeder and giving up on the season. Yeah, you’re rebuilding. And then at that point, if Zack Lavine is still going to opt in because it’s just a ton of money, but the Masabonis is saying, what what are we actually doing? Well, and the other tough part is like, okay, so you would only do that to get draft picks attached, right? Bucks don’t have those. The Bucks literally don’t have a first round pick from 2026 until 2031. So unless you’re getting the 2032 Bucks firstrounder, there’s really nothing. Such a bad situation. Everything’s just one year, one year, one year. Bobby Porter is player option. Kyle Koosma 22 million. Giannis 54. Dame 54. I think they’re in a shady because they have Giannis. Nobody and they didn’t. They tried, right? I think the Suns tried too. I think the Bradley Beal thing just looks really bad. But they’re in a really bad spot. Not as bad as the Suns, but you could argue, well, they both have Couldn’t you make the argument that the Suns have better assets than the Bucks? They got Booker and KD. Oh, yeah. I mean, in that respect, I think take out the Giannis of it cuz like the Giannis, that’s the that that could reset the whole thing. You could get all your draft picks back. You could get a young player, right? You know, ignore the ignoring the Giannis aspect of it. The Bucks are in a weird spot where they This is the repercussions of being quote unquote allin for seven years in a row, right? They spent all their money. Then they traded all their draft picks. Then they traded all their draft picks again for Damen Lillard, which I understood why they did it, but they should have kept Drew Holiday instead of trading him to get Dame. They should have given up Chris Middleton and put Holiday, Lillard, and Giannis together. I think that one mistake has kind of been the the fallout of everything since then. And they just took on Koosma’s contract. They didn’t draft any first rounders in the last two years. I would say the Suns are probably worse off, but it’s not great for Milwaukee to they would essentially have to sign free agents next summer, right, to to make up for that. They can’t do it this year, but it would be like next year all the money would be off the books and so they could sign whoever the Jonathan Kaminga of next summer is. would you do? Okay, let’s just let’s just play the game cuz we haven’t played the game with this guy in a long time and he was really bad in the playoffs and he was really bad with the Bucks. But could I interest you in Kyle Koosma if it came if and I don’t even like you said I don’t think the Bucks even have a a pick swap but is there anything you could you could be persuaded with to take Kyle Kosma basically cuz Kyle Kosma makes 22 million Demar D Roza makes 24.7 and I know that the Bucks probably can’t take on any more money so they’d have to give you something else. You got um or maybe they could because they’re only paying three people. I don’t know. I mean a AJ Green. Can I give you a AJ Green? I think the other one is um Andre Jackson Jr. I think is the one I feel like I could turn into something if it helps. Also, he’s 23. They’ve got pick 47 in this year’s draft. So, you want you want pick 47 and 42 and see if we can find something there. Well, Demar for Kyle Koosma does work straight up in fans, by the way. But I think that if you’re the Kings, Kyle Kosma has just depreciated so much. Yeah, you’re going to give us you I’m leaving there with something. And if you’re the Bucks, fine. You can have Andre Jackson, who is a 66 shooting guard who’s 23 years old. Fine, you can have him because we’re still going all in anyway. I think the most likely path if this were to happen is uh Bobby Portoris sign and trade. So Bobby Portoris signs 18 million for three years with the Bucks. They trade him and I don’t know like Pat Conetan or something to the Kings for D. That’s probably if it’s going to happen. I’m not saying it will. I think that’s probably the most likely path. Now would Kings fans feel good about getting Bobby Portoris for Demar De Rozan? I think so. I think so. Would they feel better if it were RJ Barrett? Would they feel better if it was Andrew Wiggins then? Well, again, I think and at that point, right, I’m just looking here. If you if you told me going back to going back to your boy Andre Jackson Jr. because he’s 23. If you said, “Hey, we’re going to lose because Deamar, you’re going to lose that score and you got to find that somewhere anyway.” If you told me, “Hey, the Bucks are going to trade Bobby Portoris and Andre Jackson Jr. because here’s the difference to your point. The reason you were probably getting Andre Jackson Jr. is because of Koozma’s depreciated value. But if you say, “Hey, Bucks, you’re screwed, right?” You’re not screwed because you’re keeping Giannis, but yeah, Bobby Portoris and Andre Jackson for Demar De Rozan. I think Kings fans would be ecstatic. Yeah, I don’t know about ecstatic, but they’d say I’m I’m good. Yeah, I can I can work with that. I’m I can definitely work with that. Yeah, cuz then you could still sign Lorravia and then you would have Lorravia, Bobby Portoris, and Yonas Valenunis. That feels like a pretty lengthy team. Yes. And you and you go get number five on Keith Smith’s list. You go get Dennis Shruder and you’re you’re you’re doing what the ownership wants them to do. That’s not what the what all fans want them to do. Some fans want them to blow it up. Some fans would like this. But this is what we are being told the and Bobby Poris the connection with Scott Perry from New York. This is what we’re essentially being told the Kings are going to this is a best case scenario, one of the better case scenarios if the Kings are just going to refuse to start all over. Yeah, this is just another team we can add in to the list of deals we’ve been creating, right? We’ve tried to make it John Collins, Bobby Portoris, Tobias Harris, Contavius Caldwell Pope, uh RJ Barrett. You can pick Andrew Wiggins, you know, we’ve been trying to find like that type of deal. Milwaukee would just be another team in that mix of like, hey, we’re just going to get their $15 million player and some salary filler and now we have either length or a point guard in exchange for Demar D Rozan. Yeah, it’s just it’s like a puzzle on MTV challenge, right? You’re just trying different things, seeing what works. Even though it looks like the same piece, it’s slightly different. You got to look at it really closely and then, okay, maybe that one works a little bit more.

If DeMar DeRozan is traded this summer, do the Milwaukee Bucks make sense as a trade destination?
