the end of today’s show but uh here it is a rainy Monday um we are thrilled to be back in the studio again for a more relaxed edition of DETV Sports so tell us what you think and uh again it’s going to be the same show you know and love will sometimes will be at the desk in more professional mode sometimes we’ll be hanging out here you know just chitchatting about everything going on in the world of sports matthew how you feeling here new location uh in terms of set not set A we’re on set B today here at our Wilmington studios how you feeling uh with the New Look Show here for the first time i like it i like it man i like the Josh Gibson catcher pads we got here yeah where I even get those from you know what I mean i don’t know man these things look like they’ve been through war you know what I mean and they got the Spalding ball there with the 76ers logo go Sixers you know what I mean coming up yeah we’ll talk about Shout out to Joe Richmond or the 87ers you know what I mean well not the Blue Coast now but you know that’s right sorry my bad my bad my bad the uh G- League champions from a few years ago we’ve had a fun We’ve had a fun couple playoff runs over there at the Chase Fieldhouse so we got a lot of stuff to hit today game or the NBA Finals game five is tonight we’re going to break down that 22 series as we head back to OKC uh NBA draft matthew’s going to have of course his mock draft we’ll have our draft preview show next Monday right here we’re going to be back on set A with the big board breaking down everything for the NBA draft which will be next Wednesday get started so you’ll have that show next Monday so a big show coming up next week but a lot to get into you know going over some of the uh the rundown for today’s show there’s a lot on here we’ve got a lot of NBA stuff going up big trade uh in the NBA yesterday not sure if we’re going to call it a blockbuster i did initially but uh this was a question raised online can it be a blockbuster trade without an all-star included what do you think is it still a blockbuster trade it’s a blockbuster trade for the Memphis Grizzlies see I’m with you there so I do think it’s a blockbuster trade we’ll get to that in a little while kevin Durant has his list of preferred trade destinations we’ll see uh where he might want to take his talents here in the last year that contract with Phoenix he could be traded the next couple weeks so we got a lot to pay attention to there we’ll hit the NBA uh we’ll take a look at the Knicks coaching search and then some final thoughts as we get through but NBA for the most part today so uh let’s dive into the finals what do you think let’s do it let’s do it all right here we go game five tonight in OKC uh over the weekend the Thunder with a comeback first time they entered a playoff game this year trailing into the fourth quarter they were down seven with like 10 minutes to go crusoe was huge once again off the bench with 20 points um Shay Gilis Alexander and Jaylen Williams down the stretch were big and they come back and they take down the Pacers in game four to even this series at two and two the winner of game five Matthew has won the series 74% of the time that’s a fact so this is a huge one tonight in OKC the OKC Thunder are 9 and a half point favorites so Vegas is all back with the Thunder here um Pacers postseason record on the road though 7-3 they’ve been phenomenal in in hostile territory this year on the road in the playoffs it’s funny because you think about the first two games the Thunder led 94 of the 96 and a half minutes in the first two games they obviously split uh the Thunder controlled pretty much the last two games in Indiana but also dropped that last one as we just talked about the Thunder came back and won that one so it’s been kind of a weird series so far you know Thunder controlled the first two we split pacers control the next two they split how do you feel about tonight’s game back in OKC as I mentioned their big favorites 2-2 this is a you know series swinging game tonight here in game five yeah here’s the thing i’m Look first of all hats off to the Indiana Pacers i really thought it was going to be a a a fairly quick series i will give the Pacers full credit um they have been able to really get a lot of production from a lot of different people and it’s been consistent um so again hats off to them um I’m just impressed with really I gota be honest I’m impressed with Rick Carl’s coaching i think he’s been phenomenal um as far as OKC I think what we see at times with OKC at least what I’ve seen in the games is to me there looks like there’s a little bit of um growing pains like I think at times and you saw this with the Bulls back in the day with Michael you’ve seen this with the Heat you’ve seen this with the Spurs especially is sometimes when you’re a young team you don’t know when and when to turn it on and when to turn it off and when to dial it back it so with the with the Thunder I’ve seen at least they be a little lax at times and I think that that sometimes comes back to bite them um it’s just you know because the game of basketball is all about runs and and with OKC the runs have been a little inconsistent than we’re used to seeing um and I think a lot of that like I said it has to do with growing pains i think Shai Gillias has to make sure SJ has to make sure that other guys are getting production because I think the thing with him is yeah you can get your 30 plus but you got to get Jaylen Williams going you got to get um Chad going you got to get some of these other guys that um can’t maybe get their points as easily as he can you got to get those guys going yeah and so I think SGA is most dangerous when he can play kind of like a combo guard role kind of set up some guys early on and then start to apply pressure offensively to the defense i think that’s when they’re the toughest and hardest to stop yeah i mean to your point right we saw Jaylen Williams kind of play point guard in game four for the first time he was the one initiating the offense they had SGA off the ball that allowed him to get he was setting screens i don’t know how many screens he set this year but he’s definitely I think he surpassed every screen he set this year in just game four of the of this year in the NBA finals a few days ago so he was uh playing off the ball obviously trying to get him open in different things you know off of some of those defenders uh for Indiana and hey it worked jaylen Williams has been fantastic obviously SGA’s 30 points in three of the four games here uh so far in the final so he’s been good but yeah I’m with you there he’s going to have to get some help from some of those other guys and they are young right i mean excuse me youngest team in the NBA we talked about it but what a year they had the regular season obviously number one the West everybody was kind of preparing you know for them in the playoff run and you kind of got word we talked about it already right not a lot of people were scared of OKC and you know whether that was warranted or not um but here they are they’ve beaten everybody they’re back or they’re in the Western Conference Finals and as you mentioned for the first time so you have this young team that’s being in this situation for the first time in their young careers no matter how good they already are there’s going to be some growing pains as you mentioned and maybe we’ll look back and depending how the Pacers do you know next year going forward and you know maybe look back and say hey the Thunder played well maybe they didn’t play well etc but seven games with the Nuggets now you look back at that series and you’re like man Denver was the one that pushed them to the brink of the most part but um as we dive into this one a little bit more I still think we’re going to go seven uh to start I had uh OKC and six now now I’m on board with OKC i’m going to still stick with the Thunder but I’m going to go OKC and seven i think going forward we’re going to get home home team victories i think we’re going to get OKC tonight in Oklahoma City and then I think we’re going to get Indiana at home next in game six and I think we’re going to head back to OKC for game seven that’s just um how I feel about it but again it’s been no team has won back-to-back games this entire series right if you look back to some of the stats here um in the regular season uh the Thunder and the Pacers the Thunder in the playoffs haven’t lost back-to-back games yet and and the Pacers haven’t either so it’s kind of interesting there so you know we’ll see what happens tonight if that trend continues it’s going to be uh the Pacers winning tonight but they’re nine and a half under i’m going to go with the Thunder here in OKC at home pacers Matthew when they score 111 points they are undefeated in the playoffs they are I believe 14-0 is the number um and that number coincides with Hallebertton scoring 20 plus so they’ve been phenomenal when Halley scores 20 or more and they’re are 14 and0 when they score 111 they’re 0 and6 when they score under 111 so that’s been the point if they can get to 111 they’re undefeated if they can’t they lose i’m going with the OKC in that defense tonight at home for the Thunder hold them under 111 but again if you’re in Indiana need Hallebertton to be aggressive i think that’s going to be the key hallebertton’s got to be aggressive he’s got to look to score the basketball obviously he’s a great facilitator that’s his number one trait he’s got to be aggressive tonight if they want a chance to win but give me the Thunder at home no I’m going with the Thunder and and I think um you know OKC has been smart with how they handled Chay so far in this i think um last game I think that might have cracked the code uh I think that’s I think I’m going with the Thunder and six uh I think they might have cracked the code because if they’re using SGA in kind of like a Curry gravity type situation where the def the opposing defense guys have to stay with SGA because they’re afraid of him creating i think that creates shots for other guys um I don’t know how much the the Indiana Pacers can go one-on-one with some of these guys i mean I think Jaylen Williams can break most guys uh from the perimeter i think SGA can get most of these guys the same way um again the issue that the Pacers have to me and it’s been what I talked about in the beginning is they just don’t have a lot of room to to to mess up they have to have maximum contribution from Turner from from Pascal from Hallebertton i if they don’t get that they they’re very beatable and I what I mean by consistent I mean you can pencil in and pen 20 15 10 sometimes it changes a little and I’ll give Pasco his credit he has played really well i think only one game I would say out of these games that we’ve seen where he hasn’t had a great game but for the most part MVP yeah most part he’s been balling man and I and I really do think he as he goes I think the Pacers go i know a lot of people have Hallebertton as you know the best point guard i mean we live in a microwave society with microwave takes and and again Hallebert Burton deserves tons of credit for what he’s doing hats off salute but I still think if he’s the guy that’s stirring that that’s creating everything for the Pacers I think they’re better than if he’s the guy that’s the main scoreer for the Pacers yep and again maybe he can get I mean he’s had his best games where he’s gotten right to that 20 point threshold 2011 you know something like that if he can do that they’re going to be put um in a decent position to win and and you just to your point again talking about how they need those other guys to step up i mean the Thunder I think hit four threes in that game four victory they can beat you any which way right sga is the mid-range king now i mean that’s a lost art in the NBA and he is the best at it he makes it work he was the MVP and now his team’s on the brink you know potential you know Larry O’Brien trophy and then and if you’re Indiana you have to hit those threes those row players have to be on nay Smith Nemhard you know those guys have to hit shots around Hallebertton or we’re going to see you know like we saw in game four in there in game two where they’re not going to be able to make that up offensively because again the Patriots it’s all about the offense right the defense has played extremely better they were not a great defensive team you know for a lot of the season in the playoffs they’ve been a pretty good defensive team but they still need that offense that’s kind of their motor again look for Hallebertton to get aggressive get those other guys involved and they you mentioned those other guys have to hit shots especially in my opinion from beyond the arc like I said some of those guys going to have to hit some big threes if they want a chance to steal this game tonight yeah and I and I’d like to say something else too i I think there’s been some conversations about the the TV ratings not being high for this series and saying that um people aren’t excited about the series i’ll tell you what I am excited about and that is I think we’ve seen the death of the copy Golden State where teams are less focused on hyper threes and more focused on what works best for their personnel cuz I I love it you see two teams that play different that’s right it’s the first time I’ve seen it in a while and I’m and look and again and I’ll say this it’s not that I’m even slighting people who have tried to emulate the style i just think when you when you have a situation where the the generation’s two best shooters are on the same team and you have arguably I think the best role player of this era and Draymond Green and when you have the perfect storm that sets up I know a lot of times it’s a copycat league in every league right but I just think there’s some things you just can’t copy and if you try to copy it’s never going to look like the original and that’s the thing I think I’m most excited about is I see two teams that aren’t trying to play like Golden State to me I love it that’s right and excuse me last year we had the Celtics that was a Golden State you know kind of prototype there y as you mentioned not this year with the Pacers and the Thunder so we’re going to get again a new champion one city is going to have their first NBA championship you know here this potentially by the end of the week so it’s been a fun series to you mentioned you know we go back to what we said a few weeks ago in the CBA right and how that has had his effect on the NBA and you know like it or hate it that’s why we’ve got two smart small market teams obviously or helps to have two smart market teams in the NBA finals to get that new CBA and not allowing the super team etc so we’re going to get more of that again I’m all for it if we’re going to get a seven game series in the NBA finals not much to complain about no so that’s going to be fun there again me and Matthew were both going with the Thunder tonight series tied 2-2 again remember 74% of the time the winner of game five hoists that trophy okc as we mentioned hasn’t lost two games in a row in over two months pacers haven’t had a two-game losing streak in three months so again we’ll see what happens tonight if the trends stay the same the Pacers should win but they’re big favorites we’re both going with the Thunder so 22 here as we head back to OKC that’ll take us to what we mentioned there at the top of the broadcast here tonight is NBA draft coming up next week it’ll be draft week in the NBA of course as you guys know Matthew works year round on his draft material and it is now almost that draft week so he’s got a busy week and a half ahead i know how it could be it’s going to be a crazy week and a half and then once it’s all over right you’ll be able to relax for for another week or two and then right back to right back to work it’s about a week or two yeah and then we’re back and then we’re back to you know worrying about 2026 draft that’s right so there we go but again join us next Monday we’re going to have our draft show right here in Wilmington on on set A here at DEV you can catch our rankings to get Matthew’s mock draft we’re going to go through the prospects etc you know potential trades you don’t want to miss that but let’s dive a little bit deeper into the draft from kind of an overview here before we get to next week matthew how are we looking uh we talked last week about the Sixers and kind of what they might do kind of went through the first you know one through five those picks talked about a lot of those prospects in the top 10 in the lottery have you heard anything else new has anything changed in the last week or so just in terms of what you’ve been hearing are rankings or guys falling slipping etc and then we’ll talk about the Sixers here in a moment too with some of the rumors that we’ve been hearing about them well first of all the the NBA hasn’t released it yet but the this Sunday was the deadline for overseas and uh I think uh you could call it I guess you could say pro pro players to withdraw themselves out of the draft um quite a few international guys stayed in some guys I was kind of surprised about like uh Nicholas uh Avadales i thought he was going to stay in the draft i thought he was going to he looked really good at at the combine in Chicago i saw a guy that could probably get in that late first with the with the underassman we had to go back to college he surprised me he actually withdrew his name michael Rusek uh another player from forward from uh Spain he withdrew so those are two of the the surprises I I see uh I am Oh and I’m sorry one more guy ben Hershaw from from uh Australia i think he’s going to look at exploring options to go to college uh at the end of the day I think what we’re going to see in this year’s draft is I I anticipate there’s going to be anywhere between I’d say 14 international guys picked uh between both rounds okay and it might even be a little bit more because I think you’re going to have some guys that um are going to be spec picks where you just take them and you just hope for the best that they develop overseas there’s not a ton of guys that have gotten green room invites the NBA sent out their green room invites i think it’s at 19 right now most of them American uh that’s a low right i was going to say I mean I was reading that that’s a low number for this year correct now they they’re supposed the rumor is they’re gonna invite five more guys okay um so one of only one international kid right now I believe has one that’s Noah uh Trayor he’s from U France really good shifty guard creates off the dribble uh not a natural passer but does have really good court vision um and can kind of really do good change of speed uh dribble um creates a little bit of separation doesn’t get full separation for guys but he he gets enough burst to take a guy off the first step he’s going to be probably a late lottery pick um who I’m most excited about if the if you’re looking at the international market and you want a guy who you think has the most upside to me it’s Johan Burge uh from from uh I think he’s right now he’s playing for Sevita in in uh Slovenia uh he is rangy athletic uh a shot blocking specimen right now still raw doesn’t really know the game fully but he’s a guy that checks those boxes of guys after Malawatch is taken probably in the top 10 i think he’s going to be a guy now again Malawatch continues to climb in the draft there’s been talk about him being the third pick there’s been talk about him maybe even being the second pick i’ve even heard that which is insane to me i can’t imagine that but what I’m getting from Malawatch is so many evaluators that I’ve talked to are saying “Hey I don’t think he played what he what he what he could do at Duke i think he played what the Duke system wanted him to do there’s so much more to him.” I don’t know if I believe all that i think he has a lot of potential i think he has a lot of things he didn’t show at Duke but I don’t know i I when I when I start hearing these conversations some some of it is smoke of course because these guys work for teams they’re not going to tell you everything they’re going to That’s the tough part that’s the tough you know about that with the NFL right you mean you you’ll hear things you be like “That seems kind of weird but you know you you take it as info as all you can but you you know in the back of your mind you’re like I don’t know if that I buy it.” Especially as we get closer we’re going to hear some more things here as we get to the next it’s going to get crazy it’s going to get really wild and and and here’s the thing i mean to me that’s the funny the fun part of the whole process for me is is you know separating the fact from the rumors and the rumors from the facts and at the end of the day every and that’s why I always laugh when people say oh I know for a fact this guy has a first round promise it’s always I’m like he’s like you don’t know that and and you don’t know what team gave that kid a promise if he even has a promise and you know every year some player drops in the draft and we say well what happened and it’s like oh well they had a first round pract uh promise But that team took somebody else because they have their own boards and when those certain other players fall they’re like “Hey I know we said we’re going to take that kid but uh do you see this kid’s dropping?” And they take that kid so it happens every year it’s in every sport it’s not you know it’s not something that just it’s exclusive to the NBA it’s in every sport nfl NHL baseball you hear those guys come out they’re like “Hey they told me they were going to draft me and then they did and now they you know want to get back at that team who promises.” Yeah so we see that a lot that just came out with somebody recently who just said that they somebody told him they were going to draft him and then uh didn’t draft him every year man happens so this is nothing new and and again you know I I think the Sixers from all that I’m hearing is this conversation is they are looking to move out of the third pick yeah i mean we sat here well actually set a we sat at set A last week and we said odds are I mean it seems now like there’s some momentum for them to trade back right you agreed that’s what you would do if you were the 76ers and as soon as we walked off set and got home I think maybe when I got home or the next morning there was a rumor and again you have to take everything with a grain of salt at this time of the year it was that the Sixers and had been in contact with the Spurs about moving from three to two and we talked about last week the reasons on why they may move back there was a couple of them but you know but what would be the reasons for to move up i mean we talked about the fit and obviously you’re a Dylan Harper guy that’s your guy obviously we have number two prospect i think for both of us here most likely if I were picking number two that’s be the guy that I would go with um in terms of fit it if you’re just thinking fit right if you’re looking at the Spurs and the 76ers those back courts they’ve got some good guys in the back courts there already right rook of the year in Castle and Dear Fox San Antonio McCain Maxi etc over here you know in Philadelphia um would that does that affect the pick at all do you think the Sixers or somebody would still make that pick you know for Dylan Harper regardless of fit or need just because of the player that he is see that’s just it i don’t buy the Sixer rumor that they’re trying to trade up see I didn’t think I did either but why why would they do that like what would be the To me there’s no reason to do it because I mean McCain is a great shooter um Maxi I don’t want to stall his development i I think he’s reaching the that that people said they might Philly people going around that they want to trade Maxi i saw on Twitter that’s what they said the other yesterday i saw the only reliable I think it was Elliot Shore Parks from WIP he should be fired i don’t know what he talking about man come on he’s the only Shorefire player they got exact and he’s young he’s a trajectory upward yeah i don’t know no I’m not trading him no we’ll get there in a second that voice from above you just heard talk about that yeah we’re going to get to that in a second for sure dylan Harper to me look he he obviously is my I’m I’m bigger on him than most people i think I have him in tier one with with uh Cooper Flag um to me San Antonio I don’t think they’re going to move i I think the Sixers can offer them a lot and I don’t think they’re going to move i think Dylan Harper reminds him a lot and just from people I’ve talked to a lot of like Tony Parkeresque where he has the ability to create he’s he’s smooth he has he has a tremendous ability to get to the rack and convert at a high level i just I think San Antonio really thinks that they’re this close if they can get another couple pieces because to them they have their Duncan if you think about it they have their Duncan their Duncan is Wimbana i think Jeremy Sohan is still intriguing for them for um I’m a fan of his too i play the defensive versatility i really like to move yes Devin Vile is the guy that I think is most movable for San Antonio i think they’re going to look to to to move him he has not been the defensive stalwart that he was supposed to be coming out of Florida State however Dylan Harper to me I think he solves a lot of their issues that they have with ball movement at that at that place and I really think between him and some of the other pieces they got I think he’s a guy that I think San Antonio is not going to move from with that too i’m with you i think if I’m them or if I’m thinking like them I’d do the same thing and but now to think about it here you’ve got De’arren Fox you got Castle in the back court there i mean they’re all kind of built you know they’re they’re definitely guard built I guess I should say so can you play all those those three guys on the floor at the same time at a point do you think uh no but if you remember they didn’t immediately play Parker either i mean he was I think Avery Johnson was running the point for them and then Tony Parker would come in and do spot duty so I they have their answer for what this and I know people don’t like to hear this this is number two pick and he’s going to be backing up people yeah okay reed Shepard i mean like there’s people out there you know and I was not high on Reed i was not one of those guys you can watch you can watch the draft show from last year yeah i I thought Reed Shepard at three was a joke i still don’t know if I really believe in Reed Shepard look and and I I will give Reed the benefit of the doubt that he has another year to show me yeah this was a lo not a lost year but it was Yeah and and look I’m not going to I want success for all these players but I do think where they go has as much impact on their success as their talent that they have and that goes for every sport every sport with you 100% couldn’t agree more yeah so like when people say and that’s why I don’t use the bus word a lot because when people say “Oh guys a bus.” Sometimes I look at the situation I’m like “Yes look he just can’t pro produce in that environment it’s just not good for him if he goes somewhere else a different situation I think he’ll do better.” Yeah we’ve seen that you know numerous times over the years 100% so now you know before we move on here your gut feeling uh come next week up leading up to Wednesday what are the Sixers where will the Sixers be picking um I think they’re going to move to six okay i think they’ll move to six i think it’s either going to be six or seven i think in their mind if if they can move down and pick a Malawatch and again I know people that that might be people might say ah why we want to take a project like that i think you pair him you have him work under Embiid I think you could have something really special in a couple years I like Malawak as well i think that could be a good pick there and yeah some rumors I think it might have been it was it uh who’s at six is it the Pelicans or the Hornets i think it’s Pelicans pelicans hornets are at four yeah yeah i saw a rumor with the Hornets from four moving up to three and giving them four and 32 so that’ be two first round picks what do you think about that yeah I’d go for that yeah for sure we’ll see what happens a week and a half until we find out what the Sixers do again not only get to keep that pick that was our worry weeks ago a month ago would they even have one well they got one and it’s number three so what will they do with it that’s an entirely different story we will find out in about a week and a half but remember again Monday we will break down everything you need to know for the draft we’ll have Matthews rankings mock draft and we’ll break down all the prospects team fits you name it we’ll have it all might be a little bit of a longer show we’ll try to get it in our usual hour but uh tune in next Monday we’ll be back on the big board that takes us to the big news from the weekend and no it’s not Raphael Des going to the San Francisco Giants though we do we like our fair share of baseball here on DETB Sports but that’s not it we will not be talking about that though it is a crazy trade as well this one came in the NBA and it came from the Memphis Grizzlies who shipped off again two playoff teams on the outerbring right seven and eight seeds in the East and Western Conferences making a deal desmond Bane traded to the Orlando Magic i mean you could and we’ll dive into all the things about this trade here in a moment nobody needed shooting more though in the NBA than the Orlando Magic they did well they went out and they’ve got it so they get Desmond Bane dennis’s going to show you what they gave up though here on your screen so Contavius Caldwell Pope Cole Anthony four unprotected first round picks and the first round pick swap so Orlando they sent the Memphis number six their number 16 pick in this year’s draft a 2026 first round pick which includes swap rights with Phoenix or Washington that’s the big one we’ll come back to that and then 2028 and 2030 unprotected first round picks the SP swap is top two protected in the year 2029 so we want to focus here on the 2026 first round pick that is kind of the diamond of this trade if you will you know the news of the NBA is when you hear this this is kind of what people kind of came to so that pick in next year is going to be a first round pick for the Suns or the Wizards so that is looking you know from a in totality here that’s looking like a lottery pick so that was kind of the big pick in this trade one of the four protectives they get the pick swap and then not only that though you get Desmond Bane who we’ll go over his stats and his fit here in a moment but you get rid of Contavius Caldwell Pope so that was kind of the big thing right he signed that big deal last year it did not play well this year so half of them sending that big deal off was to unload KCP’s contract so you always have to spend money to get rid of players that are on bad deals that was considered for the moment a bad deal we’ll see what happens with him next year he could always find his way to a championship contender and you know maybe put them over the hump etc um Desmond Bane though the you know the highlight of it they get rid of Contavius Cwell’s Pope’s contract they get Cole Anthony and the picks before we dive into Desmond Bane Matthew I get your reaction here and just over the years I know you’re not the biggest Desmond Bane guy in general whenever he’s come up in conversation but you can’t really argue with the stats here one of three NBA players with 800 made threes on 40% three-point shooting since entering the league in 2020 43% on catch and shoot threes um the third best rate among players with at least 10,000 attempts he averaged 196 and five in 69 games this past season the Magic were last in three-point field goal percentage this season and also last in catch and shoot threes both the things that Desmond Bane does extremely well 31.8% the Magic shot from three i mean in a league or in a you know in an NBA now where you can’t shoot that low of a clip from beyond the arc and expect to win games they still made the playoffs the Magic had the worst three-point field goal percentage in a season since the Lakers in 2015 that’s how bad the Magic were at shooting this past season it was that bad and Desmond Bane has more career 30-point games than all of the Magic guards combined since 2019 so there’s kind of all the stuff to unpack again when you look at it it does look like they gave up a lot they get rid of KCP they get Desmond Bane i don’t hate it as much as you do but it is a lot to give up for a player that’s never made an All-Star game it’s disgusting i don’t go as far as like disgusting but it’s take some words from you do its nasty work so so here here’s here’s the thing so and I want to be fair to Desmond Bane good numbers off it’s not that I think he’s a bad player i think he’s a good player i think he’s an above average player maybe even a fringe star i I use that term i like that very loosely however get this out of you today if the Orlando Magic feel he’s a fringe star okay so here’s the problem with with with with Desmond Bane desmond Bane again people may not remember but I’m here for to help you desmond Bane was a four-year program player at TCU so he is not your standard typical young guard that you see and I know 26 seems crazy i think it’ll be 27 tcu for everybody out there yeah texas Christian so that lets you know what type of top-notch recruit he was and that’s again no disrespect i like guys that build themselves out out of the you know off the muscle so this draft he actually turns 27 okay so he’s 26 he’ll be 27 this time of the draft so during his time in Memphis he was a really good complimentary player to a John Morant who would slash in the lane get the get the double teams and then you know look job was not on the floor a whole ton i I agree the problem with Desmond Bane is we’re sitting here we’re talking about this guy as though he’s got more left i don’t think there’s more left i think he’s reached the ceiling of his his attention in terms of development like there’s not like he can’t grow anymore he is what we see like he is what we’re seeing like yeah there’s no upside to Desmond like I think Desmond is where he’s going to be um and where he’s at is a and and everybody who may not know this I’m a big proponent of peer i think PER is a is just player efficiency rating player efficiency rating i think it’s one of the quickest ways to really evaluate a player and and be kind to the player in the context of what it it protects you against your bias is what I’m really going at so my my view of Desmond Bane is I don’t think he that guy i think he’s a good player i think he’s an above average player but I don’t think he’s that guy well his peer hovers around 18 which is good the average NBA player is a 15 that’s the average league average is 15 for peer so that keep he he is what I say so it’s not me hating on them i said he’s above average so he is above average i don’t know if I’m going to give you four draft picks and a pick swap and a pick swap for a guy who’s going to be 27 years old who is has reached the ceiling of his potential and that the ceiling of his potential is that he’s above average NBA player i don’t know if he’s worth that much and again I’m saying it respectfully we saw it again these are the type of trades that get GMs fired and they definitely should if this trade doesn’t work out and by saying not working out I mean they basic Orlando Magic a a team that has not had a ton of talent except for Paulo um stud stud they took number one pick to get them and thank god they took a number one listen to us thanks for listening to Right and then you get now you you you’ve traded in all that currency of draft picks and you said I’m going to tie it all to Desmond Bane like real talk when I heard the the the pick swaps I said oh they would they get Durant what like I’m thinking they got some guy cuz like surely this is what you got if you’re if you’re you’re you’re forfeiting the future like this funny memes about that there was one going around it was like him reading somebody i think it was a Star Wars one he’s like reading uh all the stuff and then Padme was like they were like we traded all this to the Grizzlies and Padme was like we got John Morant he was like no we got this paid oh Luca Dantic didn’t get this in his trade and again they also did were able to unload that truck that contract so it’s not all for Desmond Bane though most of No most of it is i’ll give you that a small part of maybe maybe you you know throw another first round pick in there for the KCP contract but I mean honestly and again I’m saying this respectfully I think Desmond Bane’s a good player i I think he’s he’s a guy I wouldn’t mind having on my team you said above average above average but I’m not I’m not giving you that much bro sorry and again and it’s weird too right because when you think about the Magic it’s a team that hasn’t made a trade since 2019 right remember last year you remember that was for that trade was for what was that trade for markeel Folultz and that was a buy low for nothing so I mean this team when you look think about the Matic they don’t make moves at all they made nothing at the trade deadline they made nothing in free agency last year this is like I said or they just don’t I mean you think about KCP when they got that deal done they just don’t make moves as a franchise and they prove they should do and they prove they shouldn’t make trades and but just again to play devil’s advocate here i will say the fit on paper looks good right when we talked about the stats it’s exactly what the Magic needed a team that was the worst shooting team since the Lakers in 2015 i mean that’s just hard that’s hard to you know fathom they were late in the Eastern Conference you know seven or eight seed I believe the um seven seed this year um so it’s what they needed he fits exactly what they need catch and shoot guys that can hit outside shots i mean he fits the exact thing they need but then again what now is the ceiling as you mentioned we know what he is and if he’s able to bring that you’re thinking you’ve got your core now right they gave it up they’re ready to roll as you mentioned now when you make that move and you give up that to get this guy you now have to re they’re thinking conference finals or finals now they are cont like in their eyes they are now contending they have to be if you’re going to give up that type of you know package for a guy like Desmond Bane so we talked about it a few weeks ago with the Celtics Jason Tatum going down they’re going to break up that team it looks like the East is now wide open right and teams are we said it could be an explosive summer because of that and we’re already seeing it just a few weeks later the Magic even who were on the back end of making the playoffs this year around the playin they think they can win the Eastern Conference so they got Paulo they got Fran Vagner and now they go out and get their big three with Desmond Bane but I I mean you can make that I’m with you i don’t know if it’s going to be true or not but that’s how they feel in that organization big three is crazy work and and let me just say this i want to label it a big three especially with T-Rex arms but you know listen this is the biggest problem with this trade they think they can win right now and this is the problem with the And now look I think the Grizzlies won the trade by the way but here’s the there’s going to be collateral damage in a minute yeah there’s gonna be collateral damage because I really do believe that this is an implosion i think they’re they’re going to dismantle Yeah yeah i I don’t cuz here’s the thing desmond Bane was a dream you got him I I want to say they got him with the 28th pick yeah it was it was a brilliant in terms of draft capital and even better just before your point here is he’s under contract they just signed him so you don’t have to he’s under contract till 2829 so that’s another big part of why you give up that much for a guy am I mistaken he was the last pick in the first round 30th like that’s the best draft capital you’re ever going to spend essentially for a player at 30 you just gave him away and and and now you got John Morant who I know he’s seething i mean the tweets that we’re seeing he’s seething you got Jiren Jackson who Nick certain Nick Knicks want that Knicks want him they want him and can they get him i don’t think so this again the Memphis Grizzlies that look I give them respect in the back office i’ve seen them make some picks even that I didn’t agree with and it’s done well like I was not a big fan of Aldama uh he’s he’s been a good fit for them so again I’m not over here second guessing these guys when it comes to draft decisions but to me you just got the dream hit and you just traded them and I think if you’re the Memphis Grizzly and if you’re a Memphis Grizzly fan you got to be thinking we’re doing a reset you gota you got to be thinking because I don’t know how you you would think it’d be anything else well you look at that Memphis Grizzlies timeline right and it’s gonna be funny you think back three years ago they were you know battling the number one seed in the West that’s when everything was going right you had a healthy Jiren Jackson john Brandt was having MVP season before the the the gun stuff uh that got him in trouble a little bit after that he had that interview with Malik Andrews on ESPN and she said “You know who who scares you in the Western Conference?” He said “Nobody just the Boston Celtics.” This was three years ago back when you know they were on the verge of being that team in the West that season fizzled out morant got in some trouble got hurt they ended up losing in the first round of the playoffs and and since then they just haven’t been able to do anything they have one playoff series win in three year three to four four years now I believe you know with Jaw and what we thought was going to be the next big team in the Western Conference so you look at that timeline there and and now it’s it was also two years ago where they said um you know we’re right there we might have lost in this first round but the GM etc they said we’re right there we just a move or two away and now this year they get swept in the first round and now GM’s like we were wrong we were not one move away and now they make this big move so they get all the picks they get a few of these guys here but the word from that organization at least today was they’re not looking to rebuild they are looking to in quote retool so they’re going to keep in their words they’re going to keep John Morant and Jiren Jackson Jr and they want to extend those guys and obviously have those two be remain the focal point of the team but that you can say one thing and have intentions of doing another what are you buying there in that scenario do you think they keep Jaw and Jiren Jackson obviously the Knicks want Jiren Jackson um don’t know if they’ll be able to get him the Memphis Grizzlies obviously saying “No we’re not giving him up.” And who knows by the end of the week they could both sign extensions they’re both eligible for extensions so where do you see this going for Memphis after that big trade with Bane i mean me if I’m Memphis I’m probably looking to move J see I don’t know if I And this is what’s crazy and I And I I will say this i am a huge Jarant fan yeah i mean huge but it if I told you four years ago when he was out series that he would only have one playoff series and that he wouldn’t be making any first team allNBAs and stuff because that was the projection for John yes i mean they were the team of the moment three four years ago yeah they were the the the Orlando Magic of the 90s they really were which is why it’s phenomenal they made this trade because I really feel that they had the the they had their Penny Hardway they had John Morant and off the court and just other things that that that’s happened i think it stalled his credential is that why like I mean we think about it it was I mean he was on pace he had to be top two or three in the MVP voting that year yeah that he exploded before the gun stuff off the court that is when we look back at this cuz before that happened as you just said he was he could have won the MVP that year they were a top two team in the west i mean he was the next face of the NBA for a small period of time yeah is is all that off the court stuff is that where we’re going to look back and say “Man John Morant what could have been?” Oh for sure i mean as much as we we talk about Anthony Edwards and we talk about Anthony Edwards for multiple reasons most most of it honest if we’re being honest is mostly about his mindset we We love his mindset we love the fact that he’s got that dog in mama mentality right john Mor had the dog in him but he had like the uber talent too and I’m not saying Anthony Edwards isn’t talented that’s not what I’m saying i’m saying he was a freak john Morant was blockbuster TV yeah when he played dunk over you from the I saw people that said they were done with the NBA tune in when he was playing anthony Edwards i I love Anthony Edwards i mean every time he’s on TV I watch him but he didn’t have those people come in saying “I want to watch him.” They watch him in the playoffs but during the regular season I mean there you remember there was that season with John Morant where it seemed like every game there was a highlight play there was a highlight moment poster every It was crazy and and what we have now is we have a guy that we all know could hit that mark of being an allNBA guy but we just we haven’t seen it it’s like it’s gone away like it disappeared and like if I’m Memphis you got to ask yourself these key questions cuz I think this the Philadelphia Sixers got to ask these these key questions with Embiid has they have they hit Yeah zion and New Orleans has this person hit what they were supposed to be or or is this just a stall and they get back on track of who they were these are real questions because I’m going to tell you when Zion Williamson and John Mar came out one and two and they’re both having these issues right i thought this was going to be 91 again and I thought I saw Larry Johnson and Kenny Anderson these guys are magical and then what we have now is we have guys that like I’m like yo yeah talented but I don’t know if I’m getting these franchise guys so again we talked about they just got that Hall for Bane if you’re Memphis you’re Are you trading both of those guys you trading JJ Jr and John Mar well I’m not a big See I’d probably JJ I was was a huge JJ fan at Michigan State i don’t like the fact that he he’s anemic to rebounding i can’t stand that but but even to that point he’s well perceived in the league he’s he’s a player that a lot of people think could fit right in on that roster you know rim protector elite defender and they can give you a little bit of that offense as well knicks will come knocking i mean we’ll see what happens they I mean but to the point they spent their draft capital on male Bridges so we’ll see what happens there they might not have a lot to go get anybody from Memphis but again word out is Memphis is they’re not resetting they’re retooling so maybe those two guys signed extensions or maybe as Matt said maybe they’re bluffing and maybe those two guys are gone um you know relatively quickly so we’ll see what happens over there in Memphis but not great man what could have been you got me reminiscing about old Jaw right now man yeah man special special talent i hope he gets back on track but I I just man you said it though those one and two picks for that draft class is a struggle the talent of those two p top two picks just the talent yeah i mean look we all thought that this was the again this is another separate conversation but we all thought this was the answer to the riddle of who’s going to take the manual of North American basketball and it seems like but you like I mean I hate to bring up again three years ago we sat here we had this convers you know for ESPN etc so we’ll see what happens and now I mean just fall from grace a team that could have been you know contending for a championship just one playoff series in that team’s career i mean you look at the young stars I know we’re spending too much time on it john Morant Aaron Jack these were all at the forefront a couple years ago you thought in three or four years they might be you know the best in the NBA at their positions that’s a fact and now they might not even be Grizzlies anymore so tough there for Memphis and Desmond Bane in Orlando so just quickly uh are the Magic Contenders in the Eastern Conference they are i’m with you yeah I think they are too we’ll see what happens again we’re big Paulo guys here i think he’s one of the best players in the East and I think you add him a guy that can shoot the ball fran Vagar has to continue to get better y but they got some talent over there now so we’ll see what happens in Orlando but yeah contenders i’m with you stick with the NBA though here moving to another superstar Kevin Durant who was said could be traded by the end of this week or into next week so it’s going to be coming soon according to Sham Shania from ESPN kevin Duranttho Matthew has gave his three preferred destinations yeah you ready number one or I guess in no particular order but I think this is the number one san Antonio Spurs who if if that’s the case in a couple weeks could have Dylan Harper and Durant on that roster which would be something you know to behold there number two Emoa and the Houston Rockets who also you know three seed in the West this year or two seed excuse me had a great season and then that third team of course everybody’s dream scenario the Miami Heat here in the East so those are his top three destinations the Timberwolves were one of them that has been rumored to want him have been in contact with the Suns but word out of Kevin Durant’s camp is no thank you i do not want to go i mean good friends to Anthony Edwards and of course we know how Anthony Edwards models his game after Durant is his favorite player right how about that if you hear Durant just tell you “Nah I’m not.” How do you feel for Anthony Edwards about that i mean it’s Kevin it’s Kevin Durant i mean this is what he this is who he is he’s very opinionated and look I respect him it’s very he very opinionated he he’s he’s he’s a straight shooter so I like I respect it if if you don’t really want to go it’s better to rip the band-aid off again uh Phoenix though coming out Matthew they said they will you know we it’s fine we know we like your preferred destinations but we want to do what’s best for the franchise so they said you know we like you hear what you want to go but we’re going to do whatever deal is the best for us he’s on that expiring contract set to make 55 million next year turns 37 in September uh 15th All-Star team he made last season 50% shooting 40% on threes at least 25 points a game so he still is that guy uh for how much longer we don’t know but he’s 37 and still performing like the Kevin Durant that we know and love uh rumors today though he wanted to go to the Knicks that came out recently and the Knicks rejected that idea so they don’t want him just reports out of New York uh Mark J spears reporting I believe for undefeated in ESPN so that’s where he initially wanted to go him and Rich Kimman his business manager obviously you think back years ago was between the Nets and and the Knicks and he thought him and Kyrie were going to be cool and go outside the box and do the whole Brooklyn thing didn’t work out um but now rumor rumor is he wanted to go back to the Knicks and I thought that might be a good fit you bring him in there um you’d have to obviously have to do something with Bridges not sure what that deal would look like but they don’t want him so he’s out how do you first before we move on to the other teams there how do you feel about the Knicks being out on Durant yes or no you like that is that the right move um I mean I think it’s the wrong move i think they I think they I think the Knicks fans like it too much no I think they need another star man yeah I I thought he would have been good there yeah I like them so we’ll see what happens there with the Knicks but uh not going to be it looks like Durant to New York so you have those three teams um they’re hoping now you know Himri Klein had been talking uh they’re hoping that Phoenix has some respect for him can trade him somewhere he wants to go uh do you think if you were Phoenix would you do that would you allow him to go somewhere that he wants to go or are you looking for the best deal i’m looking for the best deal but I think if I’m Phoenix probably out of these guys that we mentioned Miami Spurs so what do you think about those uh I’m going with Houston i think they have the No I mean if I’m the the Phoenix Suns I think they got the most to give i think they got the most to give i think you can get a Jabari Smith i think you can get a maybe a Cam Cam Whitmore i I think there’s more meat on the bones with them i think the Spurs are going to try to cheap cheap you yeah because they don’t want to give up anybody really i think Miami Heat you just you’re dealing with Pat they have enough either of I don’t think they have enough i don’t think they have enough and rumors are that you know they’re not going to get him either no I don’t think the Heat culture would do well with my with with Kevin Kevin Durant honestly so again we just talked about those three teams and we said most likely not Miami i’m just going to throw that there san Antonio is where it was I think his number one team that’s where he wanted to go yeah of course but but that’s like you said how would they get that done you’ve got you’re not trading that two pick there’s just no way so you’re taking D you’re getting that Dylan Harper you’re not giving away Fox or you know any of the guys that we maybe you know Vel is the guy that you mentioned that maybe but he’s not going to get you get you Durant right so I if I were to say would you take these three teams or the field what would you do like if I said it was going to be the Rockets the Spurs or the Heat or would you take the field who gets Kevin Durant i’m taking the Rockets i think taking the Rockets yeah i’m not betting because here’s the thing i think it’d be interesting phoenix and look let me be let me also say Phoenix isn’t like the Phoenix of old where the when the Kangelos are running stuff um I I think Phoenix is in situation matt Ishbia to me is messy so we know that from since he got there a few years ago i mean that that ordinary been torn up and down and just a matter of since he got there it wouldn’t give up everything when he Yeah it wouldn’t shock me if he went against the grain and picked the field it wouldn’t shock me yeah I wouldn’t shock me either we’ll see what happens and maybe the Sixers throw their hat in the ring they have not been listed they are not amongst the top teams is in there we had to mention them in there somebody uh was interested in Paul George who was it i think it somebody said the Magic well they gave up all they got already so they’re not trading for Paul George now uh odds are here are the odds for Kevin Durant’s next team and again rumors coming out today that it might not be the Heat but they sit at top the list right now plus 200 followed by the Rockets plus 250 spurs plus 300 Timberwolves plus 350 then a long drop off to the Raptors at plus 1,200 and we all know how the Raptors do with the one-time stars it worked for them once already did what a season that was and they brought home a championship for it and rumors today is that they want to do it again so word out of the Raptors camp is they’d be willing to trade the number nine pick in this year’s draft plus more for Kevin Durant they ain’t going to get it done if you’re the Suns what do you think they ain’t going to get it done nine pick’s a good pick though i’m not I’m not giving Look I’m not I’m not going to get the nine pick and give you Kevin Durant that’s just not happening on an expiring contract also you only got him for this year no I I ain’t doing that i ain’t doing that we’ll see where he ends up matthew’s going with the Rockets i’m gonna take the field i’m going to take the field here just because I think it’s going to be interesting i I think that’s I think that’s good i I think it’s going to be a team outside the box here that it’s going to give them up a little bit more than maybe what they had thought they were going to get from uh from one of those other teams including the Rockets and if you’re the Rockets what are you willing to give up but it sounds like you’d be willing to give up a little bit i mean they’ve got a nice core yeah nice young core i’m getting like I said Jabari Smith is okay with me cam Whitmore is all right with me i’d be all right to take So you’re okay giving up a nice package though for for Kevin Durant yeah I think I think Kevin Durant could take them over the next hump of where they want to go in their development and that’s and at this point that’s what you’re trying to do if you’re going to make a trade like this it’s to do that and that’s what the Magic think they can do now with Desmond Bane he is their Kevin Durant that’s what they gave up over the hump we’ll see if it works for him again I might be in on the Magic next year in the East we’ll see in the Eastern Conference okay we’ll see what happens but like I think they could be a top four team in the East next year top four celtic i mean I’m not gonna Cleveland Indiana New York I think them and the Sixers could battle four or five there we’ll see all right yeah okay i see there’s a pathway there there is a pathway there speaking of the Eastern Conference takes us to New York let’s head up the road to Madison Square Garden it’s been It’s been a rough couple weeks for them definitely been rough so they fired Tom Tibido i think we had a show right after that firing and since we’ve been here back at our studios here in Wilmington since I think seven days ago they’ve had 10 coaches rejections i don’t know if I’ve ever seen or heard anything like that in my in my life Matthew not only that not only they just rejections they tried to hire other teams coaches they went to about five other NBA teams and asked for permission to speak their to their own head coaches and you could probably guess how that went they were denied all every single time i think I don’t know what the exact number is i’m 0 for six here let’s go through some of them they wanted to talk to Jason Kidd we sat here and talked about it last Monday nick’s denied they wanted to talk to Eay Adoka from the Rockets the Rockets denied chris Finch from the Timberwolves nope not going to let you talk to him either see you later billy couldn’t even get Billy Donovan from the Chicago Bulls he couldn’t get a word with Biddy Billy Donovan who signed his extension today with the Chicago Bulls and they rounded it out with another well-known coach in Quinn Snyder also rejected from him as well they are set to interview Mike Brown and Taylor Jenkins two coaches that were fired last year this upcoming week so we’ll see if they make any uh ground with those two guys but man the Knicks just can’t get a date with anybody right now they’re getting rejections left and right what do you think what’s going on up there in New York i mean honestly if you know it’s going to seem like hate but I I think James Dolan’s the issue i think that a lot of people didn’t like how they handled Tom Tibido i think a lot of people felt that the situation how it played out with New York I think they think that the fan base is toxic and it probably is a little bit um and I I just honestly think that New York has built such bad currency with players and with coaches that whoever takes that job is going to have to be a little bit of a leap of faith and it’s going to have to be somebody Cowboys job huh yeah it’s gonna have to be somebody who’s looking for to be to be redeemed i think a Mike Brown works really well there he’ll bring the defensive side to that to that equation uh I I still think they have to solve for the issue with Rick with Brunson yeah what’s the deal with that that that offense like is he still going to be an assistant on his I think he still will be so how does that work though is that not an odd situation and maybe you know we’re not close to it so maybe we don’t know as well but Brunson’s your star rick Brunson obviously an assistant on Tibido’s staff for not just this organization but in the past as well right um so what’s the deal with Rick Brunson now is he how would that you know I don’t know I don’t even know what we know but I just don’t know yeah I don’t really know all the ins and outs of that situation so anything I’m I’m talking about with this is just speculation and what I’ve read here and there but there is a sense that that Rick Brunson runs offense that is advantageous to his son and at times stalls the offensive cohesion when guys are on the floor and a lot of people have said that the ball kind of dies in Jaylen Brunson’s hands so there again these are these are just what people are saying there’s some people that were saying that was kind of like the smoke that Dante Dvenenzo had when they played that there’s there’s this whatever it is there there is definitely some for lack of a better word I smoke or agitation that is involved with Rick Brunson with some of these guys and I I really think as other people leave that situation I think we’ll get more and more of the details yeah well we already got a few of those exit interviews i mean anonymously we has come out that certain players have had an issue they brought you know made that clear with management on the way out for this year so if that’s the case maybe they do make a move there maybe we hear something on that you know coming up here in a little bit you know soon but and you heard Charles Barkley talk about it last week they fired Tibido and obviously had no plan i mean no plan at all typical New York yep so who knows where they go from here but it’s not looking good can’t you know can’t get a dance with anybody New York Knicks coming up here so we’ll see mike Brown Taylor Jenkins maybe the one of those two guys i mean with the way it’s going you would think it’s going to be one of those two guys because there aren’t many other options oh Mike Brown definitely taking it yeah oh yeah no doubt but we’ll see if they offer them the job there who knows um how that’s going to go over there with the Knicks so not not great up at MSG but who cares uh we certainly don’t so we’re going to head to the two-minute drill here quickly uh just quick thoughts on this one Matthew here before we get to some other stuff otani returns to the mound tonight to pitch for the first time in over two years he’s got the Padres’s obviously was the MVP last year they won the World Series he was the best hitter in baseball now he’s back on the mound after two years dealing with that injury you excited going to tune in tonight no I’m not excit though finals tonight over yeah so we’ll be watching that maybe I’ll turn it on to check out the first couple innings only expected to go one or two innings in his return maybe I’ll flip it on we’ll see nfl news trent Williams says he wants to go till he’s 40 years old no retirement in sight what do you think good news for the ners i mean sure but I mean dude we’re we’re we’re reaching that we’re reaching critical mass we we need to have a situation for you know some succession planning for that tackle position cuz we have none right now yeah none and hopefully he just keeps playing that’s how it sounds who wants to keep going until he is 42 oh speaking of the Niners yes the Bryce Huff trade yeah I like that for I like that for you guys yeah look I do i Robert Salad the Jets so I think that’s I think he’s going to be good i I think I just look at this point didn’t give up anything no but glad you brought it up though leave it in there uh Chubba Hubard him and the Panthers him and the Panthers veterans said they are sick and tired of losing what do you think about word in Carolina the Panthers ready to to start winning some football games here they’re sick of it man shut up yeah we’ll see they got their guy T-Mac in the first round y’all the Panthers bro shut up so Matthew no sympathy for the Panthers and their losing ways last couple years free free agents in the last uh some free agents left over here in the NFL uh Matthew Amari Cooper Keenan Allen some big time receivers you see those guys going anywhere anytime soon uh Keenan Allen is a no i think Amari Mari Cooper’s got some thread left on the tires okay see where he Keenan Allen i I can eagle what do you think who mari Cooper yeah either of them take either of them do you need them do you need I knew you were I wanted to hear yo man how many guys do y’all need i was waiting for you to say how many guys do y’all need there it is man y’all like y’all like the Miami Heat 2011 man we’ll take loading up we’re going to do the uh what was that dance call they all did uh what was it back there that big thing right all this cuz you guys got Tim Tibo at quarterback is crazy work but I’m let that LeBron dance they got Tim Tibo running quarterback plays for y’all give you a break this is crazy uh let’s head now to Dennis’s question of the week me and Matthew started out strong and by me and Matthew I mean Matthew and I we started out strong matthew had that first NBA draft question he nailed it since then we are 0 and2 to Dennis last week was a tough one the Miles Sanders one got me off guard yeah that was that was off guard for sure so Dennis what do we have this week we are trailing two to one can we tie this thing up well here’s my question first and then I Okay here’s the question of the week what do you feel was the biggest trade in Philadelphia sports history alrighty so that’s our question of the week honestly I think the biggest trade is good or bad right good or bad there’s two of them i got one bad one one good one mhm the good one to me was Moses Malone going to the Philadelphia 76ers basically that’s a great one that that basically got them the title this worst trait same organization to me was Barkley yeah I’ll give you that one i think I’m with you on the Barkley i’m trying to think of another maybe like a Loki um I’m trying to figure trying to figure it out here i can’t think of anybody in baseball now to was was that a trade or a free agent signing that’s a free agent i think that was a free So I have to go back and on the spot i do they Barkley was my negative one if we’re going to do a negative and a positive I’ll have to think about it but yeah that’s Yeah I’m with you there i mean I’m trying to think of like did Dennis did you have one in mind is there one that stands out am I missing a big one i’ll give you You know what i’ve got it here’s my worst one Dennis here’s my worst one and thank goodness I thought about this markeel Folultz how about the Sixers trading from number three to number one in 2017 giving up extra picks and stuff to draft Markeel Folultz and then watch Jason Tatum go number three to the Celtics so thank you Brian Coangelo and company for that one that was the year with the burner accounts etc oh my god talk about one of the worst years ever there so they traded away that third pick they move up to one take Markeel Folultz that’s going to be Hold on my answer i got another one bad oh jeez see that now it’s Samberg traded Ryan Sandberg that was a bad he came back and coached for him years later a bad trade so hey Hall of Fame there’s some bad ones dennis can you think of any good ones how about maybe trading Ben Simmons maybe trading Ben Simmons for James Harden mike Eagles trading up for Mike Moola was bad shawn Bradley was bad sean Bradley well that was a draft pick now now we’re just on draft picks and stuff like that all right well there you have it from that now got traded up for Mike Moola yeah well yeah that that one I’m talking about the Bradley one yeah yeah that’s nasty well there you have it there but that Marl Markel Fold one’s going to stick with me through my through my entire my entire life there wow all right Dennis let’s get down trivia question let’s even it up Matthew what do you got for us let’s do this let’s do it let’s see cuz last week I was one which Hall of Fame wide receiver was traded in 2000 for a first round pick that was later used to draft Shawn Alexander so a few things unpacking we’re saying drafted Shawn Alexander right that’s where we start i believe it was the Seahawks that drafted him so they gave up somebody gave the Seahawks a first round pick for a wide receiver so now or wait is that the question then was a wide receiver so who’s a wide receiver from the Seahawks that would have warranted a firstround pick in the year 2000 i would have been six but I should still get that wide receivers from Seattle so think about 99 early 2000s for the Seahawks you got the Dennis playing the Jeopardy Gway for the Seahawks thing first round pick for a Seahawks wide receiver it’s funny i can’t even like who like if you’re thinking about that but who would be like the Seahawks all-time leading wide receiver well that’s Steve Large but I think Oh yeah who’s second man I don’t even I don’t even have a good answer for this one this is bad for me this is bad yeah because these aren’t these are ones that we should have you know an idea about but when y’all give up yeah i’m Man go ahead here’s what I’m probably kicking myself ready i had it too i had it oh my god we don’t get We don’t get the official answer for that that’s not official is that not an official answer oh man I should have went with it to the judges Ivan I should have had it i should have went with it so oh man oh well done that happened when you don’t have faith in yourself people oh my god always have confidence always have confidence i should have just went with it i actually said Joey Gaw yes you did words come out of the mouth we’re going to have to go to the judges card that might be under review for score come next week but we might have to We might have to go one and a half questions that’s right nba Finals coming up in 20 minutes start time on ESPN thunder and the Pacers remember Pacers undefeated when they score 111 points and that record is almost just as good when Hallebertton scores 20 or more will he be aggressive tonight will the Pacers 12 players hit outside shots can they keep it close i think they keep it close it wouldn’t I think the Pacers cover but give me the Thunder to win thunder given nine and a half pacers to cover the nine and a half thunder win the game you I’m going with that i like it let’s do it there you go again been scouting all players all year long draft is coming up next week any great any good Russian players in this year’s draft like would there be a reason you ever scout anybody over i mean is is is how’s Russia doing in basketball recently uh Russia Russia’s been quiet man they’ve been quiet since like early 2000 about Darko you start think about think about guys like that final thoughts Matthew as we end here on set B tonight casual look for everybody at home everyone appreciated the uh the new style of show we’re going to be doing this every now and then switching back from a professional and then more of a casual look here as we go forward but final thoughts Matthew on a Monday night ahead of game five of the NBA finals Otani takes the mound a lot going on in the world of sports what are you thinking about i mean honestly look here’s the problem I have with the conversation with the GOAT you know I don’t look for it it just comes up on my feed it’s the same way with political things damn algorithms it’s the algorithm I guess i don’t know but like I it’s either that I heard sometimes people who you follow will will click on things and then they because you’re their friend they’ll they’ll put the stuff on your on your uh feed so here’s the thing every generation thinks they have the goat right every generation 60s it’s Bill Russell 70s it’s Kareem you know well well I should say 60s there’s some people that actually say Oscar or Will yeah that’s true too then there’s Kareem then the 80s you know you have people that say Magic then in the 90s you have Jordan and then now we have LeBron i expect everybody to believe that they seen the G the GOAT cuz I do believe that these guys are all goats think that at Kobe in the early 2000 at the end of the day I don’t think there’s any player that can ever be considered the greatest of all time but I do believe we can be factual when we have conversations about about these things i don’t look to put down players when I’m doing rankings of all time i just give the facts and what happened good or bad and that’s what it is so there was a feed that came across my feed and a guy basically said that there were the reason why he has LeBron number one is because there was no killers in the 90s i don’t know what this guy is talking about there’s no killers in the 90s bro john Stockton Carl Malone Charles Barkley David Robinson Clyde Drexler i mean we can keep going bro it It’s not hard like like the dream team the original dream team is all from the ‘9s bro i mean I don’t know what we’re doing here that’s the only argument you need and that’s the thing that at the end of the day that gets on my nerves with with people they just real quick to go to some quick point and not want to put any context kind of like them Florida Gator fans who want to tell you that Tim Tibo he won us the national title but they don’t want to include the fact that Leak was the starting quarterback for the majority of the season that it really wasn’t Tim Tibo who won the game it’s Chris Leak carried them through the season and then TBO came behind and finished it great same thing same thing with Nick Nick Fos he didn’t just win the the Super Bowl off the back of what my man did the regular season almost was MVP yeah it could have been had he not could have been but you got to give credit why are my teams making this argument no I’m just saying it’s like when we have these conversations and we say these these really quick hit points well Jordan didn’t win when he came in the league my man he came in the league in ‘ 84 the Bulls were the worst team in the league there was no such thing as free agency the first free agent unrestricted free agent people may not believe this was in 1988 the guy’s name was Tom Chambers he signed with Seattle that was the first unrestricted free agent case in the NBA i said 88 jordan got drafted in 84 so you couldn’t if you were the Bulls go out and go grab guys and say “Hey come play with Michael.” Didn’t happen that way okay you had to actually draft them and develop them number two so 84 Mike comes in right and again this is not for this we’re talking just facts who are the greatest teams of that time oh I don’t know the Lakers the Celtics who if you to ask any NBA guy the 87 Lakers and the 86 Celtics are among the be greatest teams of all time oh and then who comes after that oh the Bad Boy Pistons we’re talking three all-time great teams absolutely okay and I’m not And and just for you LeBron guys I can already see your hands about to go “Well LeBron played.” Yes i have told everybody to I’m blue in the face the Golden State Warriors in 2017 were the greatest team I’ve ever saw that’s the greatest team I’ve ever seen I’ve ever seen okay only the 83 Sixers got the qualifications to talk to them okay that’s how real and how deep they are okay but that’s it i just told you Mike got three in the top 10 this is all fact there’s nobody else messing with the 2017 Warriors bro that’s that’s I give the Warriors and the 83 Sixers look y’all can fight out who you guys is the best i think they tied there but whatever point I’m making is then he revolutionized the position moving it from inside to outside then he went in a league where the big man was camped in the lane you know like big men like Euing David Robinson Shaq Elijahan i mean these guys weren’t chumps bro you’re a six and guys always say “Well he he didn’t have no jump shot.” Yeah which meant he got his points the hard way he had actually go in the lane against those big guys they were allowed to beat you up back yeah defense was different rules were different i’m saying all this not to say that you got to say all this and make Jordan the GOAT if you believe LeBron’s your goat that’s fine but let’s just be truthful about the error that happened let’s just be truthful about what took place you don’t have to knock a guy because you don’t believe he’s the GOAT just state the case for your guy just state why he’s your guy at the end of the day that just be it nick thinks Tim Tibo is the greatest college football player of all time i think he’s smoking crack but that’s what he believes i’m not going to say that Nick is is wrong for that i’m just saying that ain’t my guy nick will have his reasons why but if Nick isn’t if if if for example if Nick was to sit there and be like well Tommy Frasier didn’t do X Y and Z timbo did do like what we got to knock the player let’s just say what the player did let’s just acknowledge the greatness and let’s keep it moving this whole weird generation whatever y’all call yourselves now it’s weird man come on bro just let the greatness be great man stop with all this corny picking and choosing and what facts matter and what facts don’t matter let’s just state the facts and let the let the results fall where they are man that’s all I say man yeah I’m with you i agree 100% well said and there’s a new generation got some Twitter fingers out there you know that it’s it’s a crazy social media world right now that’s for sure you see all kinds of crazy stuff on there i mean I saw somebody say I put it on my my Facebook feed that SGA is better than Kobe Bryant bro what what are we doing hasn’t even won a championship yet won one yet right like what see that’s And again and you think about it too because social media like back you know years ago there was no social media so maybe maybe you did have some idiots that said stuff like that but you never heard about it probably now you got some guys that uh can put their thoughts out to the forefront there with some of this social media stuff not the brightest out there man it’s weird come on man just let these guys be great man kobe SGA kobe already got Kobe come on bro well we’ll end it on that one huh we’re gonna end it there thunder and the Pacers tonight if you want to check out Kobe Reincarnated he placed it about 15 minutes Thunder that’ll do it for all of us for Matthew Dennis and myself special thanks here to everybody at our Wilmington studios here at DTV we will see you next week again enjoy the finals go Panthers we’re going to finish it off tomorrow night
