🚨 Kevin Durant TRADED TO THE ROCKETS 🚨 What does it mean for Houston and the Suns? | NBA on ESPN

the first blockbuster trade of the NBA offseason is in the books as Kevin Durant is going from the Phoenix Suns to the Houston Rockets in exchange for Jaylen Green Dylan Brooks the 10th pick in this year’s NBA draft and five second round picks for the Houston Rockets the goal here was very simple upgrade an offense that was not good enough to get the second seated Rockets out of the first round of the playoffs by adding still one of the best scorers in the league in Durant who despite being in his age 37 season put up prolific offensive numbers will immediately step in as the best scorer on this Rockets team and gives Houston a chance to potentially upgrade itself in its chase to try to catch up to the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Denver Nuggets and the Minnesota Timberwolves and the other teams at top the Western Conference standings now on the other side of this trade for the Phoenix Suns this is the first step in what they hope is going to be a multi-step retooling of the roster this off season clearly the Suns did not get where they hoped to go over the past couple years after trading all of their draft picks and Mikuel Bridges and Cam Johnson to the Brooklyn Nets for Durant in February of 2023 this team did not even make the playin tournament this year with Durant they decided they needed to go another direction to try to refresh the roster around Devin Booker now with Jaylen Green with Dylan Brooks with this first round pick in this year’s draft a lottery pick and what is a deep draft this year the Suns are going to be very active this week trying to improve the roster trying to give themselves a chance to get back in the playoff mix but obviously the headline here is Kevin Durant after weeks of speculation finding a new home with the Houston Rockets [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause]

Tim Bontemps breaks down what the Houston Rockets and Phoenix Suns are gaining from the Kevin Durant trade.

  1. First blockbuster trade in the books?
The Bane trade to Orlando was the first fool. Prepare yourself before you reck yourself Timmy

  2. KD is not a impact player he has never made a team better .warriors was good with or without him . Remember how good Houston was versus with KD

  3. Desmond Bane was the 1st blockbuster trade and I wouldn't even consider this one a blockbuster, a trade of a wildly inefficient shooting guard to a team with an all star shooting for an all time great player who has trouble staying healthy now during the sunset of his life. I guess its good for Houstan as Green doesn't play winning basketball, and they get a great leader and scorer, probably the most efficient shooter of all time (averaged 52% fg last season which is a # you'd be really happy about from a big)
