we’re all locked in on what an 18-year-old is doing right now in the NBA because whenever you’re hear correct everything that’s happening with Ace Bailey right now needs to be understood or needs to have the underpinnings There we go I found the words The underpinnings of everything happening with Ace Bailey right now needs to have the underpinnings of you looking at it through the lens of this is an 18-year-old human being on the planet Now he’s supposed to have adults around him making decisions or giving him advice that’s best for him And right now a lot of people are questioning the advice that Ace Bailey is receiving and wondering if it has caused him to not be drafted as high as he could have been Will that cost him money down the road whatever Um looks positively miserable in every photograph you see of him with a Utah Jazz hat on Word is that his representation told one team in the top five um don’t take him Whatever you do do not take him I imagine that can’t be the Dallas Mavericks You want to be the first overall pick right obviously Can’t imagine it’s the San Antonio Spurs because that’s a tax-free state where you’re also with a whole bunch of young players and on the up and up and veterans A great mix You can win right now It’s just the Spurs once again getting a higher draft choice than one would think they uh they were going to receive Um was it Philadelphia right He he was the one who didn’t he didn’t work out for any teams Cancelled last week Didn’t want to break bread Didn’t want dinner Didn’t want a free dinner Didn’t want a free dinner Didn’t want a free meal I’ve never turned down free dinner Was it Charlotte don’t know We’re We’re assuming it’s Utah Yeah We’re all just assuming it was Utah Don’t take me And then the Angels are like “Do you know who we are?” Are you familiar i knew it was going to happen Google me You know what I mean are you familiar google the Angels Google alert Google the words stubborn and see what that results By the way that’s a pretty good fantasy game Stubborn Stubborn and the stubborn anges The stubborn age The stubb The stubborn anges Hey that might be my fantasy team this year They’re they’re opening for the righteous gemstones going coming soon to HBO No longer Max right here on Roku Anyway um listen we found out apparently what Ace Bailey um also is up for turning down He’s he’s turned down a free meal right he’s turned down a free meal from Philadelphia It also looks like he’s he’s turned down a a PJ from the Utah Jazz What um yeah That Brian Winhor reporting our buddy on the worldwide leader reporting that uh Ace Bailey did not fly with Walter Clayton Jr to Utah after being drafted Now I’m assuming I don’t know um I I don’t need you to Google this Direct flights from JFK to uh Salt Lake I’m assuming they didn’t put him on um on uh commercial aviation More than likely not I I don’t think so So one thing that Ace Bailey might be costing the Utah Jazz right now is the cost of an extra plane ticket because he’s not in Utah yet Now the national champion Walter Clayton Jr is and we’re all wondering it’s now we’re now going into the weekend on will an 18-year-old show up over the weekend at the NBA facility of the team that drafted That’s where we’re at right now And uh this appears to be uncharted territory Is he going to show now it’s like hey if he’s not there now that’s fine He’s just got to show up by Monday to get ready for the summer league with his new team We’re all now scrubbing what Ace Bailey said on Thursday night Again this is an 18-year-old kid Uh we know what his agent has said If you want to pop that up I do believe we have the uh the quote Omar Cooper let’s be fair and balanced um of the um of his his agent telling ESPN “Every NBA team watched him work out in Chicago He did 18 interviews Everyone got his medical They watched him run and jump They got his measurements No one has said anything when DaVon Mitchell canceled a workout with the Raptors No one criticized Evan Mobley when he didn’t work out for Cleveland and they drafted him anyway There is nothing uncommon about how Ace Bailey’s pre-draft process was handled Now are questioning how his post-draft process is being handled may not mean anything He could literally be walking off of uh uh uh walking out of an FBO at uh at SLC right now Don’t know Uh but the bottom line is there is already question marks and according to Draymond Green on his podcast a strike against coming into the association I don’t necessarily think it hurt It didn’t hurt you You you you went five Whoopy do It didn’t hurt that But you’re walking into the NBA with a strike And I think that’s what’s most important to understand It’s like you’re walking in with a question mark on character you’re walking in with a question mark on work ethic You’re walking in with a question mark on your camp You know what I’m saying and so my thing to him and his camp would be understand where you are Okay it’s fine No big deal You went fifth in the draft As I said earlier in the show that don’t matter no more Matters for a salary and that’s about it It’s now time to go play So be the first in the gym Don’t go into the organization causing any problems Go into the organization knowing that there’s some guys that been there before you You can learn from them But I ain’t saying go bow down to anybody but know that it’s some guys that know more than you that you can learn from Go in there and be a great rookie That don’t mean don’t go play great Go be a great rookie Don’t go in there thinking stuff going to be your way because you already got a strike and this league will move on from you fast I I I think that is the most stage advice I mean I have no notes I have no notes That’s pretty good I have no notes And it’s just also remarkable that when Draymond Green isn’t all hyped up by the competition how cleareyed and fullhearted he is right when he’s not Mhm doing the Draymond stuff that by the way won’t keep him out of the Hall of Fame I’m already frontloading Draymond Green when he shows up in our who wants to be a Hall of Fame segment over the next few weeks You’ve constantly said that Oh there’s no doubt But we’ll we’ll hit that record We’ll hit that Listen there’s no notes And one last thing too Um let me ask you a question guys If I told you there was a roster in the NBA that included Lowry Markin Walter Kesler um John Collins Jordan Clarkson Kyle Filipowski right um Johnny Juang if you want to give you a name familiar to college basketball fans sitting there as well Ace Bailey now Walter Clayton Jr is on it Um seems like a pretty fun team Colin Ston is on this team Let’s not forget All coached by Will Hardy who I think a lot of people um in basketball believe is one of the smart young guys although not smart enough or I guess successful enough for the Knicks to ask for his services Um right Um maybe you don’t you don’t want to live in Utah Maybe that’s what I I don’t know But this isn’t a bad spot right and this team this team should the agents should just is the tank job over there I mean is is Larry Markin finally not going to have one of those soft tissue back things in late March and suddenly disappear from the fantasy radar he’s involved in a lot of personal you know what I mean axe grinding you know what I mean he’s involved in a lot of trade speculation but yeah I mean that’s a fun team as it is currently If Ace Bailey shows up That’s the question right now Ace Bailey watch in the first weekend final weekend of June Again he’s 18 Let’s not u on all the sound bites that you’re parsing from him I I mean there’s not enough media training in the world to to coach up an 18-year-old Although I got to be honest just again this is not biased Bryce Underwood when he was here right he he seemed to have his head screwed on straight Now obviously I think is he making more money than Ace Bailey coming up in his first year maybe I don’t know Perhaps But I I I’m I’m just saying it’s rare to see a polished media polished Yeah teenager So understand that when you’re scurrying through his sound bites to try and see is he pissed or not is he happy or not because he keeps saying it’s all about basketball If he’s about all about basketball then he should be in Utah right now Cuz it’s like you’re not going to force your way out of the Jazz right now Like that’s not happening If that is in fact cuz this is what we’re all Yeah you know saying without saying right now is that the kid is going to try and stage a hold out of some sort on the Utah Jazz and Francis and try and upend a draft system that he’s not going to upend I mean it’s just not going to happen So this is what we’re all driving at right now without saying it But if he is all about basketball then he should he should have been on the plane with his national championship winning fresh off of cutting down the Nets teammate and be in Utah looking at Coach Hardy and saying “What can I do what do you need from me here I am.” Yeah But it’s like you said he he’s 18 He’s not calling any of these shots man And we we Yeah but the adults are seemingly failing Ace B Yeah fine But you’re That’s what I’m getting at It’s the adults He’s 18 He’s not He’s doing what he’s told So you can’t really hold this I don’t think against him because he’s listening to advice He’s going to be the one that pays the price Like Draymond said you already have a strike against you now Yeah Maybe they just didn’t have enough private jets because they were all in Venice for the Bezos wedding I don’t know Maybe Dude turn down a private jet flight from New York to Utah I mean that’s My god You know the Wi-Fi must have been great on that flight Basically you know what’s going on right now see people are effing around Uhoh And they’re finding out they’re finding out Look at you Look at you bringing back your chart my Derek Henry woman Yeah You see the J because the Jazz effed around and picked Ace Bailey And now they’re finding out that like around they took a saying there’s a lot of this going on right now They took a supremely talented kid that at the end of the day may wind up being the winner of the draft Sure And this is a Utah Jazz team that hasn’t really been a magnet for free agents They haven’t really been able to get people to just sign with them And then on top of it this is a Utah Jazz team that again as I mentioned Larry Markin in every single uh February March and then certainly in April Oo my arm Oh suddenly I can’t play tonight And the Jazz lose enough to get them into the top three spots and then they don’t get in the top three spots and they might w they could have wound up with a they definitely wound up with a top three player in terms of talent So I don’t think I I think Ace Bailey’s crew might have been the in the what is that the Y axis of of the f around Yeah I got you Like they effed around and they’re going to find out Well I mean I I they and they found out that there is a franchise run by a bunch of lacks of Fs to give individuals who said “We’ll just draft you anyway.” Yep And here’s a private jet Come on out Come out Come out Come out to the mountains Come out to the mountains All right We made our point You guys ever been on a PJ like you get all the free warm stuff you want You know the hot
