Gil’s Arena RIPS The NBA For DRAGGING Ace Bailey

Gil’s Arena RIPS The NBA For DRAGGING Ace Bailey

do people make too much of a big deal out of Ace Bailey’s initial reaction to getting drafted by the Jazz it’s always one they try to make out like a bad person or bad guy and
not the first player to try to leverage his power to get to the destination he wanted to go to did not work out
i think he handling it well though not feeding into it saying the right things trying to say the right things you know
um yeah just let his game speak for itself what they expect him to say like no [ __ ] that i didn’t want to be here y’all like like really like let’s let’s like you really expect this young this this kid to go up here and be like
you know what man this worst [ __ ] place impossible guy hey man who want to be around all this [ __ ] like no he’s not going to go up there and do that like
horrible PR
yes horrible horrible reporter there’s time and places where you like and this is why this is why I respect PR teams that are understanding of situations and you know the Warriors I mean the Wizards we had great Warriors got great too but here if I’m the PR team and we’re coming in here there’s no way that woman gets that question off the [ __ ] are you trying to do here what is your what is your point of asking him this even what do you think he’s going to say if he says what he really feels inside does that look great for this organization
but the reporter has to ask that question
no you don’t
no you don’t
for what this is supposed to be in like do you really want this player
this is the Jazz this is not like this is this
this ain’t ESPN
yeah this is the Jazz organization this is who I invited
you work for like you work here what if he actually says “No I don’t want to be here.”
What do you think the rest of the world is you think that helps us
these young players don’t want to be here
but I’m sure he was prepped obviously for that question
she needs to be prepped but but what if you are part of this organization
i hear you they’re probably going to ask you you know we saw the draft
the way these Yins are these days right
yeah they they don’t certain time it does certain [ __ ] don’t register he could have asked that [ __ ] exactly how he was really feeling in that moment then to Gil’s point now what
right
now we all look super here
yeah now it’s like I didn’t want to [ __ ] be here man like I really did not want to be here right just imagine if that’s his answer
guys it’s the journalist’s job to ask a question
no no no it’s not
no it ain’t you just got a a a player that was supposed to be
so let me ask you this Steve there of all the things that she could have [ __ ] asked him before you get to that like all the reports and all that [ __ ] that’s going on okay cool he’s here he’s here of all these that you could have asked him he said some [ __ ] about the mountains you want to ask me like so you chose like that’s what like you want some bullet like she was expecting to give that answer your perspective as a player that like you don’t want people trying to get you in trouble which is what
you’re not getting hold on but just let me finish just like I’m just like I’m listen to you all the time
so the only thing is the main story that’s been talked about with Ace Bailey leading into the draft is this and this is what people want to know about and it’s a journalist question to ask i don’t think it’s fair for you to guys to say you can’t come in here and ask that question i made it though
first of all listen the outside world talking
is very different from Utah press
your job is to make
is to make it look great here hey you know you look happy coming off the plane are you happy to be here what’s the name boom we got this this Have you been looking for a place did you just get here like you supposed to make it seem like he wants to be here you don’t want to entice the Now we got to look at the body language and be like “Yeah he really don’t want to be there.” Like it doesn’t make you look good whatever he says is what he says
right if he says “I don’t want to be here i want to be traded.” You look like a goofball asking him that in real time the team is going to be like “Why did you ask him that why are you making us look stupid?” Because if he did say that now as the president I’m looking at her like what the [ __ ] is you what the [ __ ] are you doing
you just like he’s everybody else looks great in their interview you made ours a negative thing like we understand like everything that’s been leading up to it right
he drops negative not this count to this negative
everything is so negative
yeah that’s like so that’s my point with this particular question right
yes the question is not like it’s
it was a leading question
he like so and if he really answered that [ __ ] like he could have answered his true feelings right that could have been his real answer like no I never consider not coming all that but on the flip side of that it could have been like no [ __ ] I I really didn’t want to be here they they they drafted me i I’m obligated to show up
to the to the Marshon Lynch [ __ ] i’m just here so I don’t get fined [ __ ] right so it could have easily been in a thing of that nature so that’s the thing that people used to ask Marion question like you know what it is so you just picking at this point as the home team like that like the road people expected like okay protect protect him from himself at this point my my with my um with my with the gun locker room situation right if you go back did Will Barn ask these questions corinheiser no none of the Washington people who has to deal with us every day is this is the ones trying to sit up there and trick the person up you lose the locker room
right
ain’t nobody going to talk to you
nobody going to talk to you like he’s going to be looking at you at some point like “Yeah I’m good.” You go you have the Westbrook to the home media stance okay
right as the home media you’re supposed to be looking and making the organization and those players feel good because nobody else does it’s it’s our job as outside media to sit there and poke and that’s why I said we’re going to look at the video and try to analyze his body language like oh he’s sitting there louching so he don’t really like that’s our job as outside to infiltrate the locker room their job is to protect the locker room in a sense on draft day
especially first day yeah man if it’s the first day
first day of Utah season
like imagine just just for [ __ ] man he would been like man I ain’t never seen this [ __ ] many white people before in my life just going just just anything could come out there so just like cuz the team was a prepped Y he was a prepared Y
that’s what I’m saying i mean I’m looking at it like I’m looking at it from the outside like like I’m looking at it like
like think about it i don’t have no no no interest in this and I’m sitting here like man that’s a horrible ass question to ask him first right
on this supposed to be a happy day right this supposed to be like a positive
well it was supposed to be a happy day drafted on Wednesday did not arrive in Utah until Saturday so I’m just saying that’s not a typical Well we don’t know this is not typical of speculation he could have been celebrating with his family who
or something else could have been going on what now what if somebody Now you see how stupid this is what took your ass so long
you didn’t want to be here think about how the questions is did you not want to be here you took so long why didn’t you come back with your teammate like you see how that does not actually build nothing good for them
like Porzingis when he got booed and everybody killed him on press conference what was his interview what was the first question they asked him did they ask him something negative towards that that’s a great question
porzingis in New York cuz I can tell you what it led to no matter what
he got booed draft day when he got booed draft day whatever happened from the draft day to the press conference mentally already had him like I’m out of here when my time is up and he left he
He got tripped
yeah but he wanted out but I’m just you know what I mean just that’s the first date man you’re supposed to be he but Ace Bailey is now on record saying he wants to be in Utah and I think that could have been the purpose the mountains were beautiful
yes very
a lot of mountains the air a little musty take some time to adjust to
sit on the back like man whoever that was man can you get rid of her yo you warn me
they going to revoke your credentials
you lucky what look it’s off season
look at summertime
you look ain’t a star
so looking at at Bailey obviously reports that his team told the Jazz not to draft him they opted to draft him anyway but seems like he’s in a pretty good situation with this Utah squad
how will Bailey fit with this person
even more with the [ __ ] question even more with the question the team told you not to draft me
you did it anyway
so so so you did it anyway
okay so if you asking me a question
oh [ __ ] back to the back to the that that that tells me this is the NBA draft teams are free to draft whatever player they want you’re asking me a question that has to do with what I wanted
so you’re putting me on the spot so now I have to say “Oh no i really wanted to be here.” Even though you know I’m lying because you know I didn’t want to be here so you are you showing me are you trying to show me up
yes
that’s the stand here it’s It’s We know if the team came out his team said “Hey yo leave us alone we don’t want to be drafted.” You do it anyway actually I’m not happy come on hey come on let’s just be honest so you you’re putting him on the spot for him to like what say “Yeah yep yeah.” Woo thank you you tall i mean yeah you think I changed my mind in 48 [ __ ] You see how long it took me to get here and only way you asking because y’all keep reporting that I ain’t showed up yet I am
we was going to show just Oh [ __ ]
i had to leave that [ __ ] i was still trying i thought this was 2K i thought I can put myself back on the market god damn [ __ ] y’all didn’t see what I tried i took a pay cut to go where I wanted to go i know what the number three money looked like and I was still willing to turn that down turn fourth down turn y’all [ __ ] asses down and go somewhere else i was sacrificing money and status to be where I wanted to be
so
in real life
question so he
you going to sign me i might as well just went to [ __ ] Philly
he went to college right
went to Ruckers
new get NIL money and [ __ ] right so there was He’s been knowing that this was going to be a thing i’m I’m I’m all off a tangent but
that’s all this is so they knew this was going to be a thing him getting drafted at some point within the near future from when he went to Ruckers from someone who went to college with a speech impediment right [ __ ] studied had a problem talking to the media
mhm
had problem answering questions what did they do they [ __ ] helped me out
mhm
put me in class ask me some questions get me comfortable talking to the media certain words and [ __ ] like that so his team didn’t think that this would be a thing for him to go on and [ __ ] and say beautiful i understand that’s where he from it’s how he talk where he grew up but yeah I actually prefer that to
he knows how to say beautiful trust me
cuz hey go knows how to say the words and all that they had she sat down interview she knows how to say those things he know but you this is the right so now he’s going now this is a thing now guarantee it’s going to be a [ __ ] meme like this is this day and age right that’s all prepare the young man for the moment that’s all I’m asking that’s all prepare prepare him to get asked certain questions that that’s all I’m saying
i would just be How many How many times you thinking about saying the word beautiful after being drafted to a team you ain’t want to be part of that [ __ ] start that [ __ ] start looking at like think about it you don’t want to be there right talking about the mountains
yeah these mountains is beautiful like what else can you say
yeah when I got off and I’m them trees was nice nice and green like when you bring it all the way down you had You’re 100% correct absolutely he had to pull beautiful out of the goddamn
pull that when you got off the plane yeah uh man these mountains is beautiful here yeah but yes but let’s prepare the man to have a microphone in his face constantly that’s all that’s all I’m asking for his team
it is
if you got a nice team around you they doing what the job they’re doing with you let’s just add some some of this into the freight right
and when y’all sign the shoe deal let’s go get him a that on now i want to listen to everybody else’s response through history to see if anybody
say beautiful
no no to describe when they got off when they first got there the first thing they looked at was landscaping instead of Well it’s very picturesque serene mountains abound all
when you ain’t seen it
you ain’t never seen it what else is there in Salt Lake City to see you talk about the weather like
Yeah miami and [ __ ]
a lot of mountains [ __ ] nice
nice out here la how much you making what let me see
no see you’re breaking it down too much stop stop
i’m just saying like what what I’m saying is just think about it like you don’t want to go here right so you you basically saying you’re willing to like sacrifice third pick money fourth pick money fifth pick money to possibly be sixth or eighth right
so he’s making about 9.1 this year so you’re sacrificing how much money
uh so third pick is making 11.1 so he would about $2 million
so 2 4 68 so about $8 million $10 million over that contract right
about Yeah about nine yeah nine so so not so I’m willing to take $9 million less
yeah tennessee though is totally different from Utah he ain’t never
So what I’m saying is if I’m going to get drafted to Utah like I’d rather just take my money and just put me in Philly no he’ll No
just put me in Philly like I mean cuz I didn’t want to go here i I got live soon
what I’m saying is I re But if I’m going to go to a place that I didn’t want to go I don’t want to go to none of you places if I don’t want to go to none of y’all I’d rather go to I rather take my I just rather take my $9 million
should have stayed your ass in Newark i mean goddamn Ruckers [ __ ] you ain’t want to go to none of them
scatter away one more year
should stay in Ruckers another year then you [ __ ] scataway New Jersey but can looking at this Jazz roster how will Ace Bailey fit with his current squad you want my honest answer
i would like
I have no earthly idea because I’ve never seen him play so okay well that would
He’s like “Uh
like Yeah I like you
i just like idiot i’m real you want me to say some bullshit?” Kid is very athletic he has a high motor they can get it going hey 3 and D guy he’s in so whatever you want me to say some [ __ ] i can I can easily do that that’s what them [ __ ] do they ain’t never seen the [ __ ] play they just write up some [ __ ] that make it sound good but if they drafted him fifth and he was supposed to go high as third I can only assume that he can [ __ ] play basketball and he’s real good he’s athletic he does things that certain people can’t do yeah so
PG said previously was the second best pick or option besides Cooper Flag so
cool so if that’s the but I score more than Cooper Flag
yeah he’s probably he has probably the highest ceiling right he probably has the highest ceiling because of his intangibles right you know 16 with his shoes on so you’re talking about somebody who can literally play one two three in the small four
and handles
can handle can shoot can start the offense you can put him at the point like he’s
that’s that’s his flexibility in his in his game
um
so he has the highest ceiling worst case scenario i don’t even want to throw a name out there because please don’t give
like I mean like he can pull out a an allstar just from just raw talent
right they win he’s average about 21 20 like you know
so no Cooper flag he’d be a number one pick if you’re Dallas yeah yeah Harper is the Harper is that guaranteed too like he’s my safe pick because he’s 66 can shoot can play like you know what I mean like if If I’m looking for something steady that I’m like I know you know this is going to be his
he probably might not go this high you know what I mean like you know he probably might not be a 30-point scoreer he could be like but he’s going to be that solid good player then that’s that’s what you want to go with if you don’t want to think
y’all probably should watch more college basketball it’s hard
it’s hard to keep track of where everybody is
everybody leaving transfer portals don’t open up
it’s hard because it’s such a different game it is it’s such a different game that something that looks great in college right you like your you’re great in college atmosphere like you come into the NBA where who you are that’s everybody on the court
mhm
so I don’t really like all I can do is really look at the tangibles and say all right one-on-one they’re zoning him up so it’s hard to tell what he can really do you know ISOs is crowded you know what I mean so you got to basically do guess work
i got you
well if you can score with all that
if you can score with all that then you should be able to just oneonone should be easy for you
and then a lot of the [ __ ] these days the work the the drafts and all that [ __ ] is done before these guys reach the college anyway
they projected to be this and be that anyway before they pick whatever school they’re going to so yeah um I like watching the tournament if somebody’s around they tell me “You need to watch this kid play I’ll watch.” Yeah but if like the kid from Baylor that um Philly took like I didn’t like watching his [ __ ] i’m like “Damn he bouncy as shit.”
DJ oh my god who is this and looking like see I’m dudes I’m watching the draft when they ask me about him i’m like Bahamas remember he was trying to make trying to make the Olympics and he was cooking
yeah he was he came because he played with Cayenne so yeah you know when they came here to play
man

  1. These players may not like it, but most journalists have to sell papers and they will ask. Home or away. There is no protection. Gil is cap, there were reporters in DC asking those dumb questions that he may not like.

  2. Or just maybe ace should of went to the workouts and the ones he had planned not cancel and we wouldn’t be here. He has a dumb ass paid in full agent tryna be weird and give him bad advice.

  3. Classic no accountability from former athletes and present day athletes.

Don’t want that question? Tell your representation to stfu, and go where you get drafted.

The fact she is an Utah reporter is irrelevant, except when you want to create that “we supposed to be home team so protect the home team”! Well, the mofo didn’t want to go there, so he ain’t home team! And she has no obligation to protect him. The only way you can look at it is if Ainge were trying to trade Ace, and Bailey answers those questions truthfully, thereby killing Ainge’s attempt at getting market value. Fuck the player, and fuck his feelings.

What’s that shit said on the streets? Don’t start none won’t be none. Ace Baileys rep started it, and so the reporter wanted to throw some smoke. Good for her for having the balls to ask it.

  4. You're gonna get asked ridiculous shit when you're a public figure. Especially a professional athlete.

I'm sure he'll get over it

  5. I’m familiar with the beat writer who asked the question and I can speculate with lots of certainty that she asked the question in order to give Ace a chance to clear the air with the fans in the community in order to gain their support. There was no harmful intent behind the question. The direct nature, the suddenness of it, and the fact that it was the FIRST question probably didn’t help the perceived abrasive nature of it.

  6. Utah should keep that spoiled brat on the bench. Get outta here. Its very off putting to see a punk kid whining about becoming a pro athlete, setup to become filthy rich, and he pouting ovet which city he has to play in. F that. Go work on a roof, work concrete, do a real job for one day and that little brat will appreciate Utah.

  7. Better to be asked a "tough" question by hometown media than outside media. Then if anyone asks the same thing you can just say you've already answered that.

  8. Don't let Ace bump you
This gonna be who has the worst prison stories.
    Who make the best spreads
And had the C.o's on smash..
    Im here for it …

  9. Even if the reporter is allowed to pose that question, the PR person should step in and tell the kid he can choose not to answer if he doesn't want to.

  10. She didn’t have to ask that question. She did it for clicks. Everyone knows the answer to that question so what was the point? To cause drama

  11. Gotta be real, the way Chicago makes the white Sox look you’d think we on fire. Little does the average person know we are hott ass.. so I understand what Gil n them saying about Utah supposed to make them look good

  12. It’s not an actual journalist’s job to protect the team. That’s the job of a beat reporter. If she’s a journalist, then she has to uphold her integrity as a journalist to ask that question

  13. This story is all fabricated by media. Ace never told anybody he wasn’t happy after he got drafted, never told anybody he didn’t wanna go to Utah, He’s never confirmed any of these reports yet the media has built it up and spun it so much.. fans just automatically accept them as factual reports.

  14. I think what all of y’all arguing in the reporters favor are forgetting the fact that the first press conference is SUPPOSED to be a “happy” occasion. No different from any special “first” moment in any of our regular lives. Secondly, yall ignore the point about the HOME MEDIA PROPPING UP YOUR TEAM. It is the same premise as an away game vs a home game. Really wish yall would think with your brains and not ur angry thumbs.

  15. Y’all confusing the NBA’s reporting vs the organization’s reporting. We gotta listen to learn instead of to respond

  16. I hate listening to player podcasts sometimes man😂. Niggas be so biased to the players perspective. They all know it’s the reporters job to all the question. They just can’t get passed the idea that they wouldn’t wanna be asked that if it were them

  17. He’s a 19 year old kid who just barely got drafted after having no idea where he was going with an agent who has no experience what do they want from this guy? Let him hoop.

  18. Jazz fan here and love the pick and think great place for Ace to really shine. Going to love Utah when he gets time. I can see why the young man might be worried for a new start.

  19. Gilbert was a stud back in the day and always wanted him in Utah! Think we do have few bad fans but over all we love our player when they come and I always cheer for them after they move on. We have great coach and owners. I’m telling you guys Ace will love it. Let the kid enjoy his journey.

  20. Whoever was talking didn’t phrase it in the best way but yea the reporters job is to ask the question. It’s our job to dodge agents of negativity. The “devils” are out on their own mission it’s our job to navigate and deter.

  21. She did her job. A journalists job is to ask questions. Her job is not to make the team and players look good. He’s gonna be a multimillionaire who plays basketball for a living, he can answer some tough questions. He’s a young adult, but an adult nonetheless

  22. If you have never been to or driven through Salt Lake City before and if you dont like the taste of salt, dont go. It's in the air. It's all over the roads. Salty City Jazz 😂😂😂

  23. Ace gave the reporter ammo with his reaction, he invited the line of questioning by going through his agent that he only wanted to go to certain places. All Ace had to say was, “I’m happy to be here & it was a surprise to hear my name called cause it’s a dream come true.” Then you keep it pushing. These are softball questions compared to what he’ll get if he doesn’t play well

  24. You guys don't have regular fan representation on this show I love the show but you guys views are very player friendly and a players view not the regular guy

  25. Put it like this if a reporter asked that question once LeBron got drafted to Cleveland knowing they sucked do you think they’d have a job 😂😂

  26. Who the hell is Steve to say that OG NBA players aren’t being fair to a reporter when they know what and how it is? The good and the bad.

  27. I’m with the guys on this your fat wife put on a dress and come in the room and ask you if she look fat?
Why she ask 🤦🏽‍♂️🤷🏾 and now you gotta lie and she bet not ask again 😂

  28. As a Utah Jazz fan, you ask that question cause everyone wanted to know and we already did know.
