“Happy To Get A Dub.” | Rob Dillingham Summer League Sound | 07.10.25
How’d that go first game? Just how how you feel out there? Uh just happy to get a dub. So having my teammates play well, played all right and that’s all we hear. What do you think about the big fella just how he played? I mean I don’t even have to explain. Y’all see it. Uh he was like that since the first day and he play hard, run the floor, he take coaching well and he plays with everybody. He don’t care about having the ball. So he going to be special for sure. Co coach was saying that they want you two to just really work pick and roll together to build chemistry. Like how do you feel that’s coming along just very early in and getting to know him and play? Uh it’s definitely tough in practice. We definitely run some pick and roll more in the game be a little hard cuz like with our players, everyone we got on the team like setting everyone up and then setting him up. So, uh he still got some buckets today without us even trying to get the ball. So, uh he’s a great player for sure and I feel like it’s coming along slowly but surely. TJ, how have you seen him kind of grow over the years together? Like, how do you kind of see him grow? Uh, I mean, TJ been cold since he came in. It ain’t really no grow or nothing. TJ the same dude he been since the first day. Uh, he work hard every day. And I mean, that’s what I take from him. How he work, how he don’t care about anything that’s going around around him and he just play basketball. So I respect him for that for sure. Uh I mean I always was tough and like I don’t like losing so I definitely go hard. It’s never no problem going hard. It’s just like my role my whole life. I haven’t been a defensive stopper, then run the play, you know. So now it’s a new role for me having to play 94 ft, then dribble the ball off the court, get to the play, you know, it take a lot on your legs, but I’m definitely getting way better at it and it’s coming along for sure. And if I want to be a good guard in this NBA, then I’m going to have to do it. Team opportunity out there. How do you view this summer, the next few months? Pressure, is it opportunity? I’m just playing basketball, taking it day by day. Um, I don’t look at it as nothing. I just play basketball. I feel like we talk about it, then it’s building into something. It’s basketball and when I get a chance, I’m going to be ready. And every day is not a great day. So, you got to get better every day. So, I feel like when I get a chance, I’m going to be solid for sure. What part of your game do you think has improved the most since you played in summer league last year? Uh really just like playing for everyone. Uh playing defense full court. Um setting the plays up. Uh setting players up to get them in position where they score the best. Like for example TJ in transition, Lenny on the road, he can make plays. My bad. really just putting everyone in position because it’s not always about me or it’s about winning. So, what did you think of Jaylen’s off the backboard? I mean, it’s cold to me. He made it. At least he made it. If he wouldn’t made it, it would have been a little but he made it. So, we green. Sunday when we talk when I talked to you, you said Johan really impressed you at pract practice but like seven blocks in his first summer league game. I mean, is that what you were seeing in practice? I mean, yeah, he he attack the ball every time. If you go up, he going to try to block it. So, I mean, he bound to get a block. He’s seven foot. So, uh yeah, he definitely goes after it. And it’s definitely Cole he does that.

Keep the kid. He’s so talented. Grind away on defense, and hold tight to that ball. If he limits his turnovers, he could be a starter.
That would be the perfect nickname:
Rob, the Dub, Dillingham!!
Has a nice ring to it!
Dub dillingham
There are times to decelerate.
Use your change of speed, rather than sprinting always with the ball.
Get your defender off balance…..
Then move faster.
How do you think Luka does it?

Dilly needs to slow down his game a little. Feels like he's trying to rush it and then loses focus on what he's doing. Turnovers are the worst thing you can do and you will not get minutes if you're turning the ball over all the time.
