“[Joan] Is Super Receptive To Coaching” | Max Lefevre Summer League Sound | 07.08.25
uh he has to do at the NBA level, you know, he has to play defense at a high level. He has to get through screen. He has to be a pest and then he got to run offense and he got to make plays and create offense for other people. So that’s a lot. That’s a lot. But a lot of growth in the last 12 months for sure. Kind of helps though that like he has that experience of playing off ball too, right? Given how much Ant’s going to be on ball, Julius is going to be for sure. Yeah. when depending on lineups is is uh whoever he’s on the floor with. It’s definitely going to be some times where playing off the ball is going to be a it’s going to be a big thing like you say and Julius and and be able to make shots, be able to attack close out and all these things which we know he’s great at, but we also all know what we need some point guard minutes. So, you know, in terms of like a lot is kind of made about slowing the game down and going into your second season read start to get a little easier. Have you kind of have you kind of noticed that that’s the case with Rob that things just seem to be getting a little easier for him? Yeah, for sure. Uh again, a lot of growth in the last 12 months. I think uh the game slowing down for him a little bit. Uh we still got to get him. I’m really excited for summer league honestly because last time last summer league is fresh off college or whatever. There’s a lot of uh but we got a good team. Uh he’s going to have the ball in his hands. He’s going to have good teammates that can do things. He’s going not have to do everything. So kind of him running the show, making those reads in, you know, at a somewhat of NBA level in summer league against really good competition. So I’m really excited to really see what it looks like cuz, you know, it looks good at practice or whatever. But seeing that, you know, in real minutes going to be going be fun, I think. Is it fair to say then that like his playmaking ability is probably more of a what you guys are looking for in summer league versus just straight scoring or Yeah, I mean, baskets. he can actually really pass and he’ll tell you. He’ll tell you he can really pass. But uh and he knows it and I think that’s that’s what we need. But we also need we still need him to score. Like don’t no don’t get it wrong. We just need him to pick his pick his pick the right places to score uh get everybody involved. Uh but yeah, it should be fun to watch him. I mean, three practices down to has anyone maybe not at the top end of the summer league roster kind of popped or caught your eye at all? Uh I mean I think we’re really deep, honestly. Obviously, we got those those uh those four guys kind of really coming back of like like TJ, uh Jaylen, uh Lenny, and u and Rob. Those those guys kind of be in the program and we expect a lot out of them. Uh but Yan’s been great. You know, super young, but they’re super active. And then, you know, like our two ways, Jesse and and uh Tristan, uh being super good, too, as well. So, like, you know, like it’s like eight, nine players are really really good. Uh then you got like uh guys that I haven’t seen before coming to gy that like got like one or two years of NBA experience are also really good. So uh I don’t think anybody is like I mean obviously TJ Rob have a lot of firepower offensively. Uh but we got really deep team so I’m really excited to see what it looks like. How has that impression of Johan been? I mean now that you’re getting him in the gym and getting to work closely with him. What what’s kind of your biggest takeaway with Johan? Uh it wants to be great. He’s like super receptive to coaching. Uh he wants you ask him questions, really good questions. Obviously super raw. Some of like we just have to make sure we like cover the basics first. Like especially with the language uh like he has no idea like a gap was or like some of these things like the language terminology. Uh but he’s just getting things done just by pure talent and athleticism. Uh but again like super receptive to coaching. Uh really excited to coach him. What about Leonard? Lenny like what what how kind of same question I asked before like the growth over the course of the time. I mean he came in like a raw prospect. He’s been here a little bit though. Yeah. Yeah. And I’m really excited for learning summer league because a lot of times you get to summer league and there’s not enough good five man at summer league and you like we’re going to play Lenny at the five because that’s your best option. Uh and it’s not really fair to him. Uh because he’s probably not really a five in the long run. And uh so now I told him today like you should be in heaven man. We got three sevenfooters right here. probably probably not going to see him at the five. So, it should be should be a lot of fun to see what he can do and like some something that’s really similar to what like NBA kind of roster would look like him at the four doing a lot of things. So, um yeah, I think he had a lot of growth, but Delaney is going to be a big summerly kind of showing what he what what he can do right here uh with a good roster around him. So, yeah. What’s the impress impression of Rocco been so far? I mean, we were just out there watching him shooting. To see a 7 foot three guy shooting threes, it’s Yeah. First impression is huge. I mean, he’s a big human being. Uh TJ just tried to dunk on him and he just like, “Hey, TJ was up there, but he’s 73 or whatever he is.” Yeah. Uh so that’s the first impression, but uh super nice kid. Uh uh got a lot of got good sense of humor. good feel for who he is and what he needs to work on and then the road ahead. Uh so he’s been it’s been super cool to be around him. Been around him for since the draft. Uh he’s been here. So uh it’s been really cool to be around him. Yeah. You guys ready to have two Australians on the team? I mean that might Yeah. I don’t know. He does have a little bit of Joe Engles in him. He’s a little bit of a jokester. Uh so I don’t know. We’ll see how that looks, man. I think those two guys going to go at it for sure.

Pretty lucky we have a French speaking coach! Joan's English is fantastic for only speaking it for 7 months, but you don't want to have miscommunication when developing a young guy.
Fake MJ was historically bad in clutch time…. "Only 23" and already gassing lmfao. RIP
Rob needs minutes. Expectations are so high for someone who was on the bench all year. I love the kid. Let h8m cook for a while. Let him just play.
Let Rob cook. 🐺
This coach is at hi-risk for getting bashed for “having an accent” especially with the low-brow Minnesota fans that are middle to upper class 😢
