6-8-25 Indiana Pacers vs Oklahoma City Thunder Game 2 Audio | NBA Finals LIVE Gamecast & Chat
this like for you guys to be competing I know it’s it’s a basketball game but you’re competing at such great stakes yeah I mean you’re competing at the highest level um for the you know greatest reward you could compete for um at this level so um you know guys are excited guys are you know um just kind of grateful to be where we are today not in the offseason um you know still competing um so you know being grounded making sure that everybody’s kind of you know where their feet are um and and understanding that we have a number of games to go um is is you know just awesome to think of yeah and so much of what you all do is you have fun you play with such joy in your hearts out there on the floor i have to imagine when you’re at this stage of the proceedings like there’s got to be joy brimming off of you at all times just to be out there on the floor particularly with your brothers like this yeah 100% i mean you think about the chemistry that we have as a team in the locker room and on the court um it just makes you know the life and the job that we have um every single day just more fun um you know being able to go grow through our experiences being able to go out there and compete with each other um and just to continue to you know share this part of our journey um with one another is is awesome game one you guys played great and just didn’t come up with the result at the end of that game what do you take from the 48 minutes in total and then you know maybe what do you also take from that kind of 45minut stretch where you were really in command of the game yeah I mean just understanding uh you know what it was that kind of helped us to be in control of the game the way we were um and also you know remembering that it’s a 48minute game you’ve got to uh you know maintain that level of um you know play and that level of execution um for the full game um and be able to close games out and um I mean that’s something we talked about what we’ve watched film on and and you know we’ll hope to do a better job with that going forward defensively you all were able to create a ton of havoc particularly in that first half with just the volume of turnovers you were able to force what did you feel in terms of your process defensively that’s maybe repeatable um here again tonight in game two yeah I think we just did a good job being aggressors um on both ends of the court truthfully um but especially in that first half on the defensive end we did a good job just kind of not allowing them to be you know comfortable by any means um you know running whatever says they were running to run um and we just did a good job just trying to be in control of the game trying to control the pace um and and that allowed us to you know go into halftime with a good lead um got to be able to maintain that level of you know control and aggressiveness for the full 48 minutes so in talking to some of your teammates some of the things that they pointed out is just you know some of the things you guys have been great at all year finishing at the rim you know converting off of turnovers i mean some of those things that are just they’re they’re in your hands and in your control how excited are you to just get another crack at it here and get out there and and be able to finish some of those angles that you got yeah that’s um beautiful part of you know playoff series you got another game you have uh you know a couple games to win so um I mean it’s awesome cuz game one like you said missed a couple layups couple bunnies got some good looks in that second half also that didn’t fall um and execution wise I thought we executed for the most part um but shots didn’t fall to a certain degree towards the end um so you know having another crack at it being able to go out there and um you know remain confident and play the way that we play um knowing what we’re capable of um that feels good you all have responded to any challenge any adversity all season long you had great bounceback ability for years now and you get to do it here tonight on your home turf in that building with they were rocking the other night how much are you looking forward to just the atmosphere and maybe the the mentality of coming in hey we’re defending our our home court yeah I mean the atmosphere at this level is like none other um our fans were spectacular in game one and I know they’ll be ready to go for game two um and just that energy that energy both playing in the game whether you’re sitting on the bench looking into the crowd um it’s it’s just one of a kind so I’m looking forward to just going out there and uh you know hopefully coming out with a W all right enjoy the experience tonight and good luck out there in game two thank you all right that’s Aaron it all starts here this is the Oklahoma City Thunder Radio Network pregame now live from Paycom Center for game two of the NBA Finals here’s the voice of the Thunder Matt Pinto now on the Oklahoma City Thunder Radio Network the Thunder and Pacers are both in a spot they’ve been before entering game two of the NBA Finals the Pacers had led one game to none in each of their three previous postseason series as they do here following Thursday’s big comeback and 111 110 triumph Oklahoma City gut punched similar to what happened against Denver in game one of the Western Conference semi-finals on a last second shot in the opener to lose by two bounce back strong to post a game two 43-point route of the Nuggets on route to advancing in seven games indiana is not Denver the Pacers are 3-0 in game twos of their run to the finals so KC knows it must be better for the full 48 minutes to finish the job to even this series at 1-1 tonight good evening welcome to Oklahoma City Thunder NBA Finals playoff basketball i’m Matt Pinto above courtside at Paycom Center with a play-by-play call round four game two so glad you’re with us on this Sunday night well the Western Conference Champion Thunder knew of the fourth quarter comeback heroics the Pacers rode consistently throughout the postseason to take out all challengers to win the East in game one of the finals Thursday night they experienced the late game confidence execution and finishing punch of the Pacers firsthand in dropping a tough one-point loss a loss in which Indiana led for less than a game second of the entire night walking down OKC from a 15-point deficit with nine plus minutes left a 9-point gap with just over 3 minutes to play the Pacers got a stop on a missed SGA mid-range jumper with 8 seconds left and attacked in the open court to allow Tyrese Hallebertton the space to bury an 18 ft jumper with 3/10 to play on route to the incredible 111 110 victory the Thunder forced 25 turnovers in game one got up 16 more shots in Indiana but shot very poorly inside at 42% around the rim from the field only 39% and they knocked down seven fewer three-pointers than the Pacers who drilled 51% of their second half shots 46% from distance and they won the rebounding battle decisively in game one did Indiana 56-39 overcoming the big load of turnovers to take game one by one oklahoma City knows it must find a way to generate probably a better balance offensively sja led the way with 38 points in game one but defend a season low 13 assists can they get more guys involved jay Dub and Chad Homegrren both suffered through tough shooting nights that combined eight of 28 from the field one of five on threes for 23 points meanwhile the Pacers had nobody score 20 or more pascal Siakum led then with 19 but they had six scoring in double figures in finding a way back from 15 down on the fourth to win game one by one okc has been expert in scenarios like this 12-2 in the regular season off of a loss a perfect 4-0 in the playoffs coming back from a setback the average margin of victory in those games following a loss 20 and a half points a game that’s history the Thunder have got to go out tonight and make that happen to even this series at 1-1 against Indiana in game two of the NBA finals head coach Mort Dagno offers up his thoughts following game one and previews game two for us next on the corner up and he’s calling for the double drizzle dude just get your hot dog let’s get back to our seats eat Schwab the official hot dog of the Oklahoma City Thunder hey this is Brian Gelzer wake up early with me and NBA Coach of the Year Sam Mitchell every Saturday morning from 7:00 to 10:00 a.m eastern as we break down everything NBA on channel 86 it’s time to find out what’s on the mind of the Thunder head coach here’s the voice of the Thunder Matt Pinto on the Oklahoma City Thunder Radio Network [Music] sunday night at Big Tom Center that means game two of the NBA Finals thunder taking on the Pacers seeking to equalize the series at a victory piece after a tough one-point loss in game one Thursday we’re joined by head coach Mark Dagnold and Mark that game was a little unusual in that you really played to your identity to generate opportunities offense to defense or defense to offense but the conversion rate was down what did you identify looking back at game one that you’ll look to clean up tonight and be more efficient along those lines well we forced turnovers in the first half which I thought was a um an indicator of our defensive intensity our pressure um there were some plays that I thought were tough to convert there were dead ball turnovers and then a lot that were lower down the floor where we didn’t necessarily have the numbers uh and then there were some where we lacked the conversion um and then at the end of the day I thought we played well enough to be up 15 uh in the fourth quarter and then they did a better job of closing the game than we did so um it’s emotional obviously you lose the game you want to win but uh we also have to be wise in terms of what we’re adjusting and and making sure that we’re not throwing everything out the window because of a loss you got downhill a lot you were around the rim throughout the course of the game didn’t convert at the rate you’re accustomed to is there any adjustment you make there or do you feel as if you get similar shots they go down here um a little bit of both you know I think um we didn’t play our best game they were we certainly miss some that we normally make um but this is a a different opponent it’s an unfamiliar opponent to a degree and they do play a very distinct style on both ends of the floor you know that increases the pace of the game you know their their offense is fast up the floor and in the half court which uh takes some acquired uh taste and their defense is fast too you know they pressure and they they really are extend the floor which puts you in a lot of advantage situations but also has you playing pretty fast in those situations so hopefully having played them once now uh we’ve we can calibrate a little bit and improve in some of those areas i thought both teams you know were adjusting to one another in the first game they got the better of us now we need to improve and they’re trying to do the same thing as you look at the off days um how were they spent for your team and how encouraged are you by what you saw from your guys well it was a extra 24 hours which felt a little different uh I’m sure for both teams after coming off the every other day rhythm uh but the guys did do a great job in practice yesterday we got uh a lot of work in a lot of film over the last couple days and certainly a lot of recovery which is great this time of year so uh hopefully the guys are ready to rock was the rebounding discrepancy concerning to you off of game one there seemed to be some reasons for it there were less rebounds available because of the number of turnovers you took away defensively yeah I mean it’s an area we’d like to win every single night uh second chance points I think were 12 to 11 so it was kind of a a break even uh situation there we gave up some key ones they rebounded two air balls those ones are just kind of like you know um whatever um but yeah I mean we’d like to rebound the ball well but we played a little bit smaller in the game that’s one of the trade-offs of that one of the benefits of that is the turnovers but usually we don’t rebound as well as when we’re big um so we’ll continue to monitor it but at the end of the day we want to have more shots than our opponent however we get it we get it and you did 16 more shots in the game than Indiana did in game one the 13 assists you had in game one were a season low were there specific reasons for that Mark or was that more a coincidental anomaly do you feel like i mean some of it is um you know shot making uh some of it is I thought we were able to get pretty strong advantages without having to pass you know especially with the pressure up the floor you think of some of like the Caruso plays that he gets fouled on the layups i mean when you get pressured like that taking what the defense gives you is taking a layup um but then there’s other plays where I thought we could have found outlets and that’s where I think the familiarity of the opponent will help us um like I said we didn’t play a perfect game there’s a lot of runway for us to improve uh but Indiana’s got the same opportunity and so that’s the that’s the test here moving forward given how well they’re shooting the ball from distance is there any adjustment you make to get to shooters more quickly and force them off the three-point line there’s some where it’s like we did a good job they made a tough shot thought there were some of those um Tophin had a couple turn or banked one in you know those plays you just kind of tip your hat it’s kind of a variance thing there’s others where I thought we were late uh or late to get a hand up and so again you know you’re least familiar with your opponent in game one and so uh the opportunity you have is as you play them more you get more familiar with the patterns with the way the game feels and with the personnel uh and we’ve got to you know take that forward because Indiana like I said has the same opportunity i know you’ve been prideful all season your players as well playing a full 48 minutes has that become amplified when a team is playing with the confidence they are in tight games late yeah I mean I think they’re a team that tests your 48minute mindset game one was the best example of that you know we uh certainly had uh control of that game for you know the first 40 minutes of it uh and they came you know down the stretch and played really well they they play to their stuff all the way through and they deserve credit for that you know they won by one but they put themselves in position to win by one and uh you know so you tip your hat to them but yeah we we want to be a 48minute team every night but it’s paramount you know in the finals and against this team what are the the important components you identify going into game two for your team success tonight well we were able to corral in transition um which was a huge win for us you know this is a team that’s doubled up their opponents in transition uh and they did not do that to us the other night which uh is huge in the series it’s a great barometer of whether or not we’re in a good spot and so that’s key and then you know just ticking forward in the execution on both ends of the floor you know once they’re in the half court understanding how they’re attacking doing a better job in those situations when we’re on offense you know to the earlier point finding more of our outlets uh finding a blend between attacking ourselves and getting our teammates involved uh and that’s what we’ve focused on the last couple days as a final question how valuable is it the recovery the response you’ve had to losses regular season and postseason mark it’s been pronounced yeah it gives us uh confidence in these situations but uh it also is a new day you know it’s this is we got to go make it happen if we want it to happen you know it doesn’t happen on its own especially against a team like Indiana so um we definitely uh have you know confidence in our ability to do that but now we got to go do it good luck in game two coach thanks Matt mark Dagnel Thunder and Pacers is in the second of this best of seven coming up pressure to Shay which the Pacers have exhibited throughout this series thus far 1211 Thunderart runs interference for Shay who kicks out front to Dub scoreless thus far back to Shay bad pass at his ankles 12 to shoot shay left right on the perimeter bump by Matherin slashes baseline right bumped again pump fakes elevates and fires can’t convert a 17 ft jumper mather slapped him on the arm and SJ goes to the free throw line on the Pacers first king foul letting him play early in game two 622 left in the opening quarter gildas Alexander coming off of the greatest scoring debut in the modern era of the NBA finals in a loss with 38 points his eighth consecutive 30 plus point outing in the playoffs at home by the way on Thursday sga burries the first foul shot he has six to lead OKC under made a pair of three-pointers thus far in game two indiana two as well as Oklahoma City leads at 1311 they led the vast majority of game one as you know chase second looks good but he back rims it toppen clears steps out of traffic up the right side to Nemar probing top of the key to Hallebertton slot left swooping out front to survey against Wallace working the dribble gets a Turner pick high left Hartinstein closes Hallebert dishing to Turner for an angle right three that’s on the way no good long rebound tumbles out Nhard has it unboxed out Hallebert driving to the left wing bumped and fouled by Thor on accelerating move that’s lose first and the second team foul on the Thunder side out Indiana in a 1311 game while Defender lost the rebounding battle by 17 in game one which is a chasm no doubt they were only minus one in second chance points indiana’s got a second chance opportunity here nhart looks to get it in does to Turner stepping out front against Hartinstein angle right Matherin one-on-one on Dub picks up the dribble to Hallebertton near midcourt with seven to shoot hallebertton jump stops and kicks straight away to Matherin three to shoot ball popped away by Dub grabbed by Dort diving to get it dub fed in the backboard got to get it across does to SGAA hunter come away with their second takeaway a Shay rumbles left to lane to the middle shovel feeds Wallace goes to get a loose ball falling down on Nemhart and they say Wallace is out of bounds but he’s on out of bounds on Nemhart it’ll stay Thunder possession landry Nehart had six steals in the clincher or the Eastern Finals against Jaylen Brunson and the New York Knicks he’s got quick hands and the Thunder can’t afford to expose the ball around him alex Caruso in case Wallace out wallace sits for two points in six minutes starting for the second straight time in this series alex Caruso in game one on Thursday scored 11 the only double figure point man for the Thunder off the bench as Coffins grabbing him right of the lane ball comes inbound corner right to Hartenstein with eight to shoot bounce passing back door to Shay corner left to Russo bad passing his ankles catching jab steps fires hits the three over the top and not close that was a busted possession horrible passing back comes Hallebertton 515 left in the first hallebertton from 35 fires straight away and missed the three short he’s yet to score in game two jas Alexander plucks the rebound and dribbles head up the other way thunder by two jay dancing left on top and jump stop pump fake spins won’t shoot wraps on the feet to heart left Russo he wants three from the corner give it to him under money ball iheart and AC collaborate for the tray it’s 1611 Thunder Hallebertton dancing back from a topping pick trying to shake Dort lobbing inside the toppin in traffic loses the ball they have a foul coming I think on Kuso for bumping the body of Toppin that’s the Thunder’s third team foul for whatever reason Indiana is prone to long entries in the lane and that’s just deadly against the Thunder pacers four of 11 shooting to begin game two down by five 449 left in the quarter they hit the foul on Gord it’s his second that hurts d provides on ball pressure to Hallebertton inbound and Tyrese comes out front the two-time all-star point guard retrieve gets the Turner pick grinding and jump passing corner right to Matherin catch shoot from behind the board three-pointer good matherin’s first three of the series but the Pacers third three of game two makes it 1614 hallebertton’s got three assists dub grinding left back of a Hartinstein pick has Matherin behind it pump fakes gives it out front to Dort lugens high post right to Hartinstein wheels on the dribble folds and dishes to Dorty on the ark he bombs a straightaway three-pointer that’s a horrible shot it caught a lot of backboard glance the rim but wasn’t close poor possession by the Thunder there the Pacers look to tie with the two go in front with three as Matherin angles left back of a Turner pick into the paints Turner up top he passes and fires an open angle at three-pointer with the lead at short caruso doubles back has them in patience three of nine on threes as Alex down the lane splits defenders and is stripped of the ball going up by Turner out of bounds 19 to shoot caruso feels like he was fouled i do too but there’s no call indiana’s been called for one team fouled on the quarter dub sits down scoreless he’s 0 and one shooting isaiah Joe replaces him isaiah’s been shooting it well for the Thunder last three games eight of 11 from the floor five of six on three 19 to shoot here caruso holding looking joe gets it right wing feeding Hartstein joe wash it back instead I drives on Thomas Bryant throws his way to the bucket lays it up left-handed no good but he’s fouled on route by Thomas Bryant we saw more of that from Hartinstein in game one just deciding I’m going to attack the big man guarding the way he’s been effective has nine points and nine rebounds in game one off the bench on Thursday night 1614 Thunder 351 left in what has been a tightly contested game two thus far hardenstein to the strike has one assist in his three minutes thus far in the second game of this series his first stroke from the line is pure he’s got one more to come ira pushing up over 70% from the line in the playoffs as a result of nailing all three in the opener dor sits down with two fouls and three points tj McConnell checks in off the Indian and a bench sitting down Nehart who leads him in scoring with six so a double point guard look hallebertton and McConnell meaning Tyrese will run more off the ball as Hartinstein on second free throw is no good he backed it mcconnell ducks into the lane and grabs a miss time to retreat the defend up three home rim back with Hartinstein the two bigs in for the first time in the series together mcconnell left wing corner left top and catch two three is up and good he’s made six threes in this final in two games he shot 28% from three-point range in the playoffs leading in pacers four and 10 on threes and tied the game hardenstein spring down the lane leaps and leans a floating five-footer no good tip followed by Hardenstein let go bryant got away with a foul grabs a rebound in addition to Hallebertton speed dribbling front court puts defenders jump passes up front to McConnell thought left to slashing up the way from Hartinstein swoops it up left-handed blocked by Hartman who tips it out of bounds 12 to shoot jet unhappy with himself that he didn’t bat that ball in play instead it caramemed out 312 left in the opening quarter deadlock at 17 in game two thunder made six of 14 shots the Pacer six of 15 and we have thus far our first tie there have distributed or used in any form without the express written consent of the NBA this is the Oklahoma City Thunder halftime show with Gideon Hamilton and Matt Raves now on the Oklahoma City Thunder Radio Network hey welcome back inside Paycom Center it’s halftime of game two of the NBA finals gideon Hamilton Matt Raises here with you and Oklahoma City has opened up a huge lead on Indiana 59 to 41 is our score and Matt some of the things that we talked about in the pregame oklahoma City hoping to improve rebounding they’re a plus four in that category plus one on the offensive glass as well wanted to see some more ball movement from Oklahoma City they already have more assists in this game at halftime than they did in the entirety of game one and better execution around the rim and Oklahoma City has outscored the Pacers in the paint 26-2 but on 13 of 20 shooting in the painted area so everything Oklahoma City needed to tighten up after game one they have so far yeah it was really pretty a dominant half outside of just a couple of minutes there where it got dicey and you you could tell right off the get that the ball movement and the player movement was there in a way that it wasn’t last game probably more passes in that half than there were all of last game and I’m I’m barely exaggerating there there were some sloppy possessions um you know throwing a guy at a ball or throwing a ball at a guy’s feet um uh broken busted possessions because of things like that uh so the Thunder could take care of the ball a little bit better but uh the response for the most part was was what you want to see yeah the uh the Thunder were down 20 to 17 pretty late into the the first quarter so we’re about 9 minutes in uh to the first when Hallebertton hits that three and from that point forward Oklahoma City at one point had outscored the Pacers by 26 that was as big as that run got uh Pacers got it down to about 14 or 15 or so before Oklahoma City widened the lead um what was the key to that run it looked like to me anyway it was uh scoring off of turnovers and three-point shooting yeah I mean shot making a a big part of that for certain um I I thought a big stretch in that second quarter was uh non-hallebertton non Shay minutes you know you’re you’re wanting to see what both teams look like and um Indiana was a minus 11 while Hallebertton rested okc was at plus 9 while Shay rested so those lineups with Dub leading I thought were were instrumental in leading the way and then Shay comes back in the Thunder were able to grow that lead a little bit so um I mean it’s partially execution but it’s also finishing off the chances that you have which I thought in game one the Thunder left a lot of meat on the bone which they haven’t to a large degree in this game pacers bench is four of 12 shooting in the first half uh those guys only scored 11 points for Oklahoma City uh they’ve got 19 points in reserve aaron Wiggins is a plus 17 in only eight minutes of action knocking down a couple of those three-point shots that I mentioned alex Caruso has also hit two three-point shots isaiah Hartinstein was a plus 11 in only 11 minutes of action uh he’s got four rebounds and a couple of assists kenrich Williams was plus 13 in only 5 minutes uh he had four rebounds and a couple of assists so it what you’re saying is exactly true when those predominantly bench units were out there uh Oklahoma City kind of set the world on fire and the Pacers were really really cold yes they were uh I thought the thunder made it difficult on them all the looks that they had which the Pacers have had more success in this game uh going to the rim than they have shooting from from the perimeter which you know they’re one of the best shotmaking teams uh in the league uh particularly when Shay is in the game you know he’s gotten 11 shots up uh that’s a third of he’s on pace to have a you know um 20 shots in this game would be two-thirds of what he had last game the better balance I think of of playmaking and excluding his guys um because I think that that that sort of thing can pay dividends later in the game keeps them involved keeps them in a rhythm so you hope that because Alec Caruso hit a couple off a shay passes for example that that can that can pay some dividends yeah you you talked about uh the Pacers there was a moment after a timeout and we had 9 minutes left to go uh in the uh the second quarter and the Pacers had had four paint attempts in 15 minutes and that continued for another 2 3 minutes or so and that’s where Oklahoma City really ran wild on them and the Pacers were totally dependent upon the three-point shot there was a timeout that was taken with about 5 minutes left or so and you just had a feeling based on the way the Pacers played after that that during that timeout Rick Carlile and I’m paraphrasing here made it a point of emphasis to get downhill and attack the basket because they did that on every possession I want to say seven or eight trips down even if it led to a perimeter shot everything started from going toward the rim and that was when the Pacers as you said are at their best i wonder why you had to paraphrase that’s that’s curious there from from Mr carl who’s a great coach obviously but yeah I mean there’s there’s one shot that this Thunder team is going to concede and at times that’s a wideopen three especially in the corner and I think Thunder fans realize from watching this own team play offensively that the best looks from three come when you work inside out you collapse the paint uh you collapse the help and then somebody’s going to be wide open and a lot of times in rhythm so the Pacers are very good at finding that um and that’s one thing you need to key out in on the Thunder are extremely good at defending the paint obviously all right coming up next we’ll take a look at what’s important for Oklahoma City to extend this lead out limit their injury exposure in game two and put away the Pacers here early in the third quarter right now OKC leads at 59 to 41 you’re listening to the Thunder halftime show at Brahms we offer more than just burgers call us anytime 24/7 at 4054833075 or visit impactmd.com impact MD is a proud partner of the Oklahoma City Thunder welcome back gideon Hamilton and Matt Rabus here with you 59 to 41 is our score the Thunder lead the Pacers by 18 thunder have led by as many as 23 though and really most of that was encompassed in the really late stages of the first quarter through about the midway point of the second quarter before the Pacers made it a little bit closer there for a while what is Rick Carile telling his guys because the turnover numbers I would feel pretty decent about those 9 to8 uh 7 to 10 points off usually that’s a recipe for a close game at halftime what is he upset with right now with his team in terms of the way they played they certainly even though they’ve only turned the ball only nine times they have not responded well to ball pressure it’s disrupted so many of their possessions yeah it just just that in general you got to find ways to be able to free yourself up and whether that’s like staggering a couple screens and having them different distances apart um have to find a way to get Tyres Hallebertton work and again he’s only got five shots um I mean that’s that’s a big thing right there he’s only got three points at the half so uh Tyrese whenever he scores 20 points the Pacers generally do pretty well when he scores south of 20 they’re a they’re a 500 ball club so I think that’s that’s the first thing is how do you get him going how do you um and then everything else would would in theory fall in line 7 to 22 uh from three-point range for Indiana only 12 points in the paint for the Pacers as well leading to that 35% number that we’re looking at that’s really really ugly for a team that is having a historically great shooting run coming into this series that’s dipped a little bit with the way that they performed in game one and it has uh fallen off a cliff here in game two and really it stems from Oklahoma City a pretty high pickup it’s everybody that’s being guarded out front no freedom of movement even for dribble handoffs uh Oklahoma City is trying to to break those up and create a an area where you’re looking at late shot clock situations before you really have to make anything happen if you’re a Pacers player yeah in in like we in game one a lot of their best offense later in the game came early in the in the shot clock so um I I’m sure they’re going to have some sort of conversation about that but Thunder defense at the point of attack has been so good chasing guys around screens we know Lou Dort could do that he drew an offensive foul in the first half um d going around the screen um a lot of Thunder perimeter players uh are are fantastic at that that’s a big part of what you’re talking about all right so even in the NBA finals we’re having a discussion like this what do the Thunder need to do to push this lead up to 30 or 40 to limit their injury exposure uh for uh future games what does Oklahoma City need to do here early in the third quarter in order to eliminate any hopes of a Pacers comeback well I’ve got good news and bad news uh the Thunder had a 23-point lead in this game the big lead in game one was 15 so the Thunder have already exceeded that it’s an eight-point lead at the half everybody knows the bad news the downside of that though is there’s no lead that is safe for the Pacers i mean I think for me personally it would be at least 20 points with 5 minutes left before you can even start to think about uh the the end of the game so you just need to push that as far as possible um and and really there’s a you know the platitude that you say with that is just don’t let the foot off the gas i think you play exactly the way you did in the first half understand that the Pacers will make adjustments there will be different images that they show you so you need to keep your mind open but don’t don’t get complacent and again it’s got to be 20 points at least with 5 minutes left for you to feel uh pretty good this series continues to be eerily similar to what we saw in Denver in uh in the Eastern Conference uh semi-finals with the way game flow has gone uh between these teams nobody in double figures for the Indiana Pacers andrew Nehard and Pascal Seakum have scored nine points a piece for Oklahoma City shay Gild Alexander 15 points on six of 11 shooting and Chad Homegrren had 11 early in this game on five of eight shooting so Chad already exceeding his offensive output that he had in game number one thunder lead it by 18 at the break coming up next Matt Pins will have the call of the second half you’re listening to Thunder Basketball [Music] [Applause] cheers basketball fans insiders thank you for hanging out with us with We the North thank you for hanging out with helping us save kids lives thank you thank you so much thank you for being Thank you [Music] pascal dribbles to the foul line contained wide left and embark dancing on Wallace as we have off the ball a foul coming on Dort for holding Miles Turner that’s his third 1148 left in the third quarter pacers shooting at the basket to my right in this second half as they did in game one thunder at the bucket to my left okc learned the hard way on Thursday you got to play the full 48 against this Pacer team because they’re not surrendering on any level nehart the trigger gets it into Turner lift it out near midcourt cuzakams blasting right on Dub crosses over snakes to the foul line and gives to Hallebertton pump faking wide left to Turner four to shoot down the lane to the rim scoops it makes it short to the rim they call a foul on Homeland with 3.3 left on the shot clock chad picks up the personal second Thunder foul to begin this quarter 22 seconds in yeah and Chad with the right hand reached out and grabbed the left arm of Turner going up for his first person miles Turner you want the ball in his hands with the shot clock winding down but the Thunder didn’t stay disciplined defensively he’s a 77% foul shooter the big man from Texas nails the first indiana five of eight at the foul line okc six of eight so not a lot of free throw shot either way 1138 left in the third quarter oklahoma City 59 Indiana 42 turner with the second that one is up short this ball coraled by Kase Rollins good box out on Nehart to do it beating Doring across the timeline on Siaka settles into the half court attack gives it up up the right side to Doug challenged hard by knee Smith caleb drives left-handed to the foul line kicks to Homer bad passes corrals it hong behind the back spins on Turner lays it up left-handed short of the rim had no lift on that shot at all hallebertton has the loose ball tyrese back of a Turner pick wraps trying to feed it to Turner wide open snaps off a rainbow three straight away it’s short loose ball run down by Dub but SGA and Nmith are entangled that’s the Thunder’s third team foul less than a minute into the third quarter that’s huge so they have only one more to give before it’s free throws the rest of the quarter for the Pacers gildas Alexander picking up his second through the playoffs the will the want to are prominent and the Pacers have brought more of that to begin this third quarter than Oklahoma City has nehart gets it in near midcourt to Hallebertton guarded by Jaylen Williams right wing Seakum Turner obliterates Dor what looked like a moving screen that’s not called and Turner fed the ball in the lane and lost home a sixfooter it’s 5944 to get the strike a minute 10 into the quarter chase pacers are just bullying the Thunder right now chase splits a double down the lane kicks left corner dub sets his feet square towards the shoulders and rips the court for three could hang a Thunder money ball shay can press the defense and spoke out his fifth assist as Dubs in double figures with a dozen 6244 Thunderhart away with a cup dribble kicks in the left corner knee Smith lobbing low Turner facing up on home but isolated left side drop steps comes to the rim pump fakes lays it up then goes back to the foul line as Homer gets another foul it’s his second in the quarter thunder out of fouls now the remaining 1024 of the third and that’s just lack of discipline buying the pump fake by Miles Turner so OKC’s got to find a way to harness its emotions right now it’s gotten away from them to begin this third 1 minute and 30 seconds in they are at the foul limit already turner’s first foul shot is good miles Turner having at it here in the third quarter he’s got eight points now including four in the frame homegrren has a pair of fouls dort three Wallace three sga has two nobody for the Pacers with any more than two turner second free throw looks good and is so the Pacers are finding traction offensively as they did to begin the third quarter in game one they scored 66 in the second half after 45 in the opener and came back to win at 11110 thunder up by 16 shay pounded dribble 40 ft straight away as off the ball Hallebertton called for grabbing Pac Wallace and it will be Tyrese Hallebertton’s first he’s got words with Ben Taylor for blowing the whistle that’s the Pacers picking up their first team foul 15 to shoot for Oklahoma City lud Dorton triggered Seakum providing on ball pressure ball comes to Shay pumped by Net Marart who has no fouls tonight shay gives it up to Wallace in the lane for a pullup stroke of 10 and he buries nicely done by Kase Wallace against what was his own first time the night wallace has four chain now six assists hallebert blasting right on Dor down the lane finds Turner sliding down the lane leans in across his body missed the driving layup homer the rebound dis Alexander the team up 18 headmans the attack dancing up top crossing over three times now a fourth steps up fires fade away 17 but jumper he rips the cords on knee that is mercy baby a mid-range master of Shay 6646 Thunder by 20 zakum dribbling up the left side had Dove blast his dribble away out of bounds on a reach in the Pacers have 18 to shoot 9345 left in the third i love the Thunder pace in this game much better than game one hallebertton gets it in between the ringtone on Wallace pump face nothing there takes the Turner for a long three straight away that’s in there mile Turner now has a dozen including his first three-pointer of game two 6649 Thunder by 17 922 left in third shay hit by Nehart crossing the timeline without repercussions shay stabilizing working angle left back of a home pick wriggling baseline nehart on him eight to shoot shay maintains a dribble backing down five to shoot seakum doubles shay across his body floats a 12-footer no good nemart finally called for a recent foul as Rick Carile was upset about something from Zack Dorman nemart got his first foul tonight i don’t know how a head coach that’s rational could argue that this guy shouldn’t have received multiple fouls thus far tonight and he gets his first here so Gilis Alexander goes to the free throw line for a whopping fourth time in game two i can see why Carl’s high 9:07 left third quarter under 66 the pace is 49 okc out shooting Indiana 53 to 36% from field as Shay buried the first three of four at the strike for SK he has 18 points third among playoff contributors scoring the ball at 30.7 entering the game that includes 30 plus in five of the last six eight consecutive times here at home he had a game high 38 in game one Thursday Alexander second is up and in leading 6849 up by as many He’s 23 turner’s got all eight pacer points in his third nine minutes left hallebertton on the handle out front crossing over on Dort can’t spurt free gives Denise Smith on the dribble weave turner back to Hallebertton slashing right throws it on the wing and tender for Ben Smith jammed out of bounds by SG shay’s been really active defensively two steals and a block tonight nine on the shot clock now for the Pacers but 15 assists on their 17 bank makes banks but they’ve shot just 36% in game two from the field and mark the triggers nine to shoot corner right knee smith crowded by Dort holding dribbling backing down swirling comes to the baseline falls down loses it shovels left corner yakum catch shoot three up no good chase tips a rebound to Wallace well defended pacing down the lane on Nehart barreling contained drifts to the corner hits a trailing dub loses the ball it’s free gets it back sot left to Shay going to stabilize things retreating on the bounce 10 to shoot now isolated on Nehart left wing shovel with the dump for an open angle three that’s on the way short near has the miss with 820 left in the third straightaway Seakum crossing over on Dort down the lane floats the bank shot too hard fight for the rebound he gets it back can’t convert the layup but he’s fouled by Jaylen Williams so the Pacers are playing with a level of desperation the Thunder going to need to match physically in this third quarter 813 left dubbed guilty of his second and Sako goes to the free throw line for attempts four and five tonight pascal led a balanced pacer scoring attack in game one with 19 points and 10 rebounds averaging six boards a game he’s not known as a big rebounder during his playoff run was he a massive scoring the ball against the Knicks winning the East three times over 30 including 31 on the clincher in game six jakob knocks down the first foul shot indiana may parade to the free throw line in this third quarter but Thunder can’t lock in and start defending without fouling 813 left in the third pacers down 186850 siaka the second Pacer to score in the quarter the other being Miles Turner pascal lost the second free throw it tumbles good he got them both and it’s a 17-point game thunder led by 18 at halftime sj picked up in the back court by Nehart the Canadian national teammates working monoe mono against each other much of much of this series thus far working the dribble angle right nehart on him eight to shoot shay steps back fires he wants three straight away gets none left to short that’s a bad possession a no pass possession shay lofting the three under duress hallebertton has the miss grinding right center steps lofted to the trailing turner spinning in the lane for a hook that’s off the rim loose ball volley grabbed by Seakum another second chance for the Pacers right wing knee wide open snaps off a three and buries it so Indiana now has a total on the night of eight second chance points to four for the Thunder timeout Thunder right now the Pacers are out working Oklahoma the Thunder lead the Pacers by 14 miles Turner has been one of the most aggressive players here in the early stages of the third quarter he was only two of four shooting at halftime he’s already two of five shooting in the third quarter alone he’s up to 12 points the leading scoreer tonight for Indiana here’s Matt Penzo prep your thunder for the 2025 NBA Finals with the latest gear find your fit for the finals at the official Thunder shop at Paycon Center or online at okc thunder.com/shop yeah a couple of disturbing considerations from the Thunder standpoint as their 18-point halftime lead is 14 right now 4 and a half minutes into the third quarter one they’ve allowed the Pacers six free throws already in this third quarter and they’re out of fouls they were out three minutes in second they’ve yielded seven second chance points to Indiana in a quarter in which they’ve been outscored 13-9 loud City is boisterous in support of OKC to even this series at 1-1 before the scene shifts to Indianapolis for game three on Wednesday caruso enters Hartinstein enter joining Dub Dort and SGA for Oklahoma City pacers have three team fouls to get them out of fouls miles Turner Tyrese Hallebert and Pascal Seakum Andrew Nehart and Aaron Nmith are the five for the Pacers pacers led by Turner with 12 seakum’s got 11 thunder with three in doubles sga 19 JDub a dozen and Chad Homegrren 11 scoreless in a quarter though jordan high post right to Hartstein facing up on Turner extending his pressure handing it up slashing left alan Bates across his body floss a 12-footer that won’t go but he’s hacked going up by New Smith free throws coming for Jaylen Williams excellent pace on the dribble handoff allowing Dub some space on the interior a good job doubling the Pacers points in the paint and that was an area they didn’t fully maximize in game one jdub three of three at the line has four rebounds four assists and 12 points in game two ready’s with the first of two arcs it 10 and out no good 724 left in the third quarter under a six of 10 foul shooting you hope that doesn’t come back to bite them should this game tighten and you know that’s a Pacers intention 3 and 0 in game twos on their this postseason run dub hits a second and OKC’s up 15 at 6954 needing stops want to curtail this Pacer mini momentum hamhart left wing holds Caruso on him andrew out front to Smith off the stutter step straightaway Turner jump passes on Nehart wide open for a layup unguarded 6956 and the Pacers showing a committed offensive outing in this half pass like they did in game one as Hardenstein finds Caruso same play back door alex wide open for the easy right hand layup hardenstein picks up his third assist and Caruso now has eight points as Hardenstein jams on a double team yakov takes it away giving a shade down the lane corner left caruso holds Shay now on the left flank it’s flattened out with the bases are back under by 15 shay backing now martin draws a double from East Smith ball swung right wing to Dort right corner caruso wide open throws a three it’s online and in there well done around the horn for the 18th assist ball number nine it’s 7456 neart to the foul line looking speed the high post right to Turner stepping out on Hardenstein near midcourt to Hallebertton 12 to shoot swooping right wing bounce to Turner for an open 60 infield playing straight away perfect unguarded thunder a poor job guarding that tandem in this third quarter as Turner has 14 points 10 in the frame dub out front pestered by Shiakir will threw it away shay reels it in left wing thunder by 16 dis Alexander midway through the third angles right on the bounce elevates and fires a straightaway 17t jumper that’s nothing but net hardenstein struggled with an ecliping pick does Alexander 21 Thunder by 18 again seakum pulling his way left wing on Caruso can’t free dishes for Hallebertton jump passing a corner to Turner pump fake hartinstein no maneuverability back to Hallebertton drifting left corner up the sideline to Seakum driving right caruso fouls him on a drive by late in the shot clock we talked off of game one about undisiplined closeouts by the Thunder that really burned them on sideep or step back threes that the Pacers made that was a case of Caruso being out of control at mid-range attacking Siakum and the Pacers will attempt their seventh and eighth free throws of this third quarter alone 539 still left sakum from the line is four or five he has 11 points his first foul shot is up and good so the Pacers not a great foul shooting team coming in their fifth best in the playoffs at 79% but really looking to make the Thunder pay for their undisiplined defense in this third quarter tonight aaron Wiggins in Lou Door out lugan sits down with three fouls and three points wiggins a spark plug in the opening half with eight points a rebound in nine minutes ben Shepard in for defense off the Indiana fans he’s a secondyear man he plays sparingly in reserves yakam second foul shot is up and good he got them both 7960 the Pacers are resourcefully hanging around despite being outshot from the field by 17 percentage points five and a half left in the third 16-point game a Shay settles in near the logo gets a Wiggins pick drives to the paint wiggins open fed fires an angle three that’s on the way in there it’s a sing money ball wiggins looking like the mid-season wiggins with 11 caruso on Seakum burrowing and spinning loses the ball as Caruso again reached in and commits a reaching foul with 515 left in the third quarter shay is all over caruso saying stop already stop reaching Alexander showing leadership there against the vet with the vet russo’s got three fouls now and again the clock stops which benefits the team that’s trying to come from behind okc sustaining offense at 55% shooting but outscoring the Pacers by one in the quarter up 7960 battling to even this series at 1-1 seakum’s first of two is up and good so for a guy that’s making 67% of his free throws getting plenty of practice here in the third quarter he’s now made seven of eight in the game has 14 points six rebounds and four assists pascal showed the way as the Eastern Conference Finals MVP guiding the Pacers to their first NBA final since 2000 pascal ready to the second that one is on the way looks good and is so Indiana doing it at the foul line attempting 16 on the night the 12 for OKC yakam six of six foul shooting in the quarter has a team high 15 shay played by Shepard gets a Wiggins pick angles right on the dribble now guarded by Nemar crosses over kicks to Wiggins pump fake whips it inside to dump bad pass off his hand claimed by Hallebertton 455 left quarter hallebertton with this steamrolled effort out front to cop it left wing Martin to the baseline spurts between defenders pump fakes sails it out tipped out of bounds by Caruso intended up the right sideline to Shepard that ball had no chance to get through i think if Russo lets it go that’s a turnover 446 left third quarter fender 79 the Pacer 62 namart the trigger 12 to shoot wiggins gives his base nhart looking right sideline hallelbertton wide open strokes a three that’s a brick dub fights for the rebound tipped out of bounds by Seakum and now they will change who that ball was off of it was off of Dub so the Pacers get another second crack here 14 restored to the shot clock and this comes down to fundamental boxing out dub did not do it there and I’m not sure he was the last guy to touch that that’s close no challenge pacers inbound down 17 hallebertton right corner to Shepard closed out by Delop the right sideline to Obie on the dribble is giving a Hallebertton swooping left down the lane jump passing corner right to top and catch shoot three is on the way no good offside rebound coruso corrals it pacers are mortal from three in game two nine of 28 alexander on the handle bucking right toppin on him gancing down the lane floats a runner that’s no good thought he was going to get hit by Tooff and didn’t toppin rebounds the miss nehar lobs left corner shepard closed out by Dove span up the sideline to Toppin giving to Nehart slashing left on Caruso pulls his way to the bucket now sails it right wing hallebert with a step base on right floor to runner with good from 12 ft away he’s made only two of seven shots but the Pacers are hanging around in the 15-point game with four minutes left in the third quarter jaylen Williams on the handle the Pacers in a two-3 zone second time we’ve seen it tonight is dub down the lane floats run counts if it goes it will not go he bumped and fouled by Sheepard and that for the Pacers is their third team foul jaylen Williams cited Daylight in the heart of that two-3 configuration and attacked it belass 13 points in game two didn’t shoot it well in game one six of 19 scored 17 with six rebounds and four assists jaylen Ladies of the first four of five from the stripe make it five of six he buries that one bender 10 of 13 foul shooting on the plus side rebounding 29-27 in game two and assists are even at 19 seakan Nehart out shepard exits as well as McConnell Ben Matherin and Thomas Bryant a perimeter shooting center enter for the Pacers thunder 804 with 350 left in the third quarter okc won the opening tip the Thunder will have the ball again fourth dub second stroke is pure and OKC falls back to defend up 17 pays without scoring them by one in the quarter 23-22 toppin on the triple weave defer to Hallebert can’t escape caruso retreats near midcourt with 12 to shoot swirling right down the lane now stripped from behind by Shay what a play alexander busting back on top lays it up counts it it goes he couldn’t scoop it home as grabbed him making no play on the ball there is no way that can’t be a clear path foul james Williams indicating it’s simply a personal foul and they’re not even on the replay jay had a straight line drive with Toppin trailing and Toppin grabbed him from behind obby Toppin picking up his second under by 17 gildas Alexander with 21 points back to the line also has seven assists tonight his first stroke is nothing but net shay on display in a big way during the playoffs averaging nine foul shot attempts a game and tonight trying his seventh upcoming what a strip a clean one on Hallebertton for his third steal in this game setting up these free throws with 332 left in the third pacers call time making up no ground on the Thunder who have fortified a consistency tonight that’s been impressive for at 18 two of the areas where Oklahoma City wanted to improve from game one rebounding and they have where they’re now a plus two over the Pacers and also ball movement oklahoma City had 13 assists in the entirety of game one they’ve already got 19 on 3 made field goals in this game here’s Matt Pinto against Minnesota in the Western Finals gideon they made 50 plus% of their shots in four of those five games didn’t shoot it well at 39% in game one but back on the beam in this one at 54% accuracy including 42% on threes 10 of 24 lock in your finals with Playoffs Central your go-to for all things Thunder Game Day from facts to game day schedules playoff Central has everything you need to know for the finals head to okcunder.com/playoff central for more information these two teams became the first since the 2000 finals ironically the Pacers were involved in that against the Lakers coached by Larry Bird guided by the great Reggie Miller these are the first two teams to collide in the finals that both have at least nine guys on their roster during the playoffs that have averaged more than 10 minutes a game and tonight the Thunderbench has shined against Indiana reserves 2711 thunder subs outscoring their counterparts from the Pacers and that nearly directly translates to an 18-point Thunder lead as Gildas Alexanders at the free throw line attempting the second of two his club up 8264 chase strokes it and sticks it he’s six of seven foul shooting with a game high 23 joined by Wiggins kendrick Williams who played brilliantly in the first half caruso and hold it in a two-3 zone for the first time mcconnell out front corner left to Nathan closed out by Shay works to the wing 12 to shoot sets up McConnell straight away angling and kicking to East for a three-point try that he hits over the top not sure that zone is going to last very long with that sort of marksmanship eastman makes his third three has 11 points 8367 pacers knocking down 10 threes thunder at 10 as well as Shay rumbles up the left sideline and Madam is too handsy with him and commits a foul it’ll be Benedict’s third and that brings the free throw scenario into effect both ways as both sides are in the penalty matherine’s not done much in this series he was really hot and cold in the initial three series for the Pacers as well had couple 20point games against the Knicks but in this series not much five points in game two shay’s first of two is up and good so Gildas Alexander killing him softly at the foul line now seven of eight more than doubling his assist total of game one was seven devonte Gilis Alexander celebrating an MVP season a season in which he joined five other greats to be in the NBA finals after winning an MVP 8567 and that list is an elusive list jordan is on it shaq is on it lu Al Cinders before he became Kim Abdul Jabar is on it as well minimum dancing out front wiggins shadows him gives it up left to Smith jay Crouchson Nmith to the baseline in traffic sails it right corner to top and catch a shoot rainbow three block going up by Kenri Williams who else wiggins a loose ball dishing to Jet look out from behind jet dumps it inside to Kenri Williams wanted to dunk and it’s blocked going up by Thomas Bryant but it’s off of McConnell out of bounds thomas Bryant blocked a Kenri Williams dunk 232 left in the quarter okc by 18 and Kenrich has played spectacular basketball yeah he comes up through the rim to block that shot are you kidding me you have three officials none saw that shay left wing off the inbound back in Matherin banging grinding spinning elevates and fades 12t jump on the way money Jay says too small he got 27 love that 8767 Thunder 215 left in the third no let up here mcconnell deep left corner back of a Bryant pick elevates and fires and left 13 foot jumper that’s his shot he knocks down that one before check and close mcconnell’s second bucket makes it 8769 thunder will have the ball to begin the fourth venture inside the final two minutes of third as Bruce up the right side is grabbed and fouled by Nesmith so the Pacers showing complete lack of discipline now i think frustration setting in as Rick Carile stands up for his team but these are clear fouls i mean N Smith that time a good 35 ft from the bucket just grabbed Caruso driving up the right sideline and Carile was all over referee Zach Zarva not accustomed to being down 18 with 159 to play I guess in the third quarter of a playoff game caruso’s first foul shot out of his right hand is on the way good do a great job at the line they led the league in free throw accuracy in the regular season and tonight have converted 16 of 19 84% both sides have seven fouls in a handsy third quarter at Paycom center both teams play physically aggressive kenri Williams out what an X- factor he’s been with four rebounds two assists and that block shot a moment ago russo second is on the way perfect he’s got 15 points five away from his playoff careerhigh thunder up 20 again mcconnell speed dribbles up the left side greeted by Wiggins drives in kick slot right to Nmith up with a three it’s up and in so Aaron Eastmith made eight three-pointers against the Knicks in game one of the Eastern Finals has buried four in this one he has 14 points 8972 caruso sets up home top on the dribble we reverses field drives to the top of the key played by Bryant strokes an angle three-pointer that’s up short caruso tips a rebound but Nisha does it hits ahead to McConnell scooping down the lane on Wallace contained comes up the other side with 120 left in the quarter setting up Abin dancing on home settles the ball to Nman driving left on Caruso steps back can’t shoot dumps it low to Bryant spinning inside a Shay who grabs him and fouls him with 113 left in the quarter and eight on the shot clock Alexander commits his third and the Pacers have not gone away they position themselves again with a big fourth quarter to make this interesting 8972 Thunder Pacers outscoring OKC by one in the frame they scored 31 third quarter points in game one they 31 right now tonight make it 32 as Thomas Bryant makes the foul shot bryant played for a very brief stint with the Denver Nuggets when they won it all in 2023 he and Pascel Seakkum the only guys on this pace roster that have previous NBA Finals experience the one guy for the Thunder in that category in this series began alex Paluso will sit down with 15 points two rebounds and one assist in game two as Hartinstein replaces him thunder go double big with Ted Holmes and I hard right now up 16 113 left in the third Bryant ready for the second arcs it misses Hardenstein has the miss evading Nmith steal attempt gives SJ Shay with 27 crossing the timeline inside the final minute of the third by 16 Shay swooping and kicking to Hartenstein bullying and lobbing call oh good for the nun oh what a gorgeous setup by Iheart he’s got four assists spectacular Matherin tied up by Wiggins and we have a foul called on either Wiggins or the second defender for the Thunder doubling back in transition harden stops it’s on Wiggins wiggins it appeared to me tied Matherin up cleanly going up on a dribble drive i’m not sure the Thunder don’t challenge that i don’t see a foul there wiggins is on the ball mather to the free throw line for the first time has five points 55.1 left thunder by 18 8173 matherin nails the foul shot so what has been an absolute parade to the free throw line both ways in the third quarter okc 17 of 20 on the night the Pacers 15 of 20 from the strike thunder led by 18 at the break the lead is 17 right now with 55.1 left in the third quarter lord Pierce is all over crew chief Zack Zorba between free throws now off that Indiana bench Matherin misses the second hartinstein one-handed rebound being grabbed by Bryant 64 for iHeart 49 seconds left in the third as many rise at Paycom center thunder fender up 17 in game two of the NBA finals shay yo-yos the bounce inside midcourt eight to shoot now he’s got to go to work matherin on him homerren screen shay drives away from it behind the back down the lane scoops it high no good hardenstein has a miss siphoning to Homer open left side angle three-pointer by Chet short mather clears bullying his way by Shay swooping Shay knocks it away it’s free shay’s got it back hartenstein long leading Wallace tipped away by McConnell scooped up right wing by Holton driving wraps around the feed intended for Wallace and a blocking foul coming on Thomas Bryant what a wild sequence not a pretty sequence the Thunder come up smelling like a rose as Chet will go to the free throw line to shoot two 15.9 left in the third quarter the foul was on Nith i misspoke it’ll be his third and Homer goes to the foul line for the first time in the game his energetic burst in this opening half put the Thunder in good position up 18 at halftime 11 of his 13 in game two have come before intermission he has five rebounds with a block tonight as well the big man bends his knees dip shoots and it rolls in thunder taking care of business at the foul line in game two 18 of 21 dort in wiggins out aaron one of five Thunder scorers in double figures tonight with 11 his playoff high is 21 and obviously that’s his NBA finals high 11 points henrik Williams on for defense entering the final 15.9 of the third he replaces SGA protected from a possible fourth foul by Mark Jagnel smartly jay sitting down with 27 points in 31 minutes also a team high seven assists fender have 20 assists in the game chad readies with the second eyes the rim bends his knees dips shoots and swishes fender lead it by 19 9374 jock clock off 13 seconds left in the quarter as Hallebertton is greeted by a double team crossing the timeout lobs it based the Thunder closing towards the end of the third crowd full throat how up the sideline to Bryant holds gives the knee grinding one to shoot floats it up at the buzzer misses at the horn over home the Thunder played a brilliant three quarters in game two battling to even it up in a victory a piece stunned by the Hallebertton jumper with 3/10 left in game one 111 look to even the score going back to hallebert and Nolan Boyd with five points two of seven shooting four assists three rebounds and now four turnovers out front dub crosses over on Nehart pulling his way left pump face nothing there gives to Caruso slashing and kicking to Wiggins out front four to shoot aaron burrowing left on Shepard stripped to the ball by Shepard going up with 1 second left on the shot clock it’s out of bounds for the Thunder indiana coming with Hallebert and Seakum Miles Turner Ben Shepard and Andrew Nemhardt 1 second on the clock thunder up 9574 early in the fourth they’re outscored by 10 in the fourth quarter of game one losing by one caruso to trigger underneath Yakamana alex looks cornered up qual by Hallebertton cleanly apparently so it’s a shot clock violation oklahoma City’s 10th turnover of game two under during the playoffs when leading after three quarters have been stout losing just twice against nine wins hallebertton gets it into Seakum pascal greeted by JDub crossing the timeline to Turner between the rings handing to Hallebertton weaving right back of a Turner bounce passes to Miles down the lane dunks with a right hand before Hartinstein can get there turner at 16 count two big guy 9576 115 into the fourth wallace slashes left into the paint spins on Hallebertton bounce speeds out front to Wiggins now as the middle seal dub on the handle slashes right elevates and fires fade away 13-oot jumper force no good caruso back taps a miss wiggins pass three straight away it’s online but he back wallace the rebound over Turner left wing wigan sets his feet squares the shoulders and rips the course for three saching a thunder under money ball the third time the charm baby 9876 Thunder hallebertton out front 10 minutes left burrowing down the lane stripped the ball by Wallace he’ll take that pacing four on three probes the middle left corn pointer wiggins catch three on the way overshot the rim double gets it it’s fouled before he can go up by Seakkum and he’ll get free throws i think we’ll see if James Williams decided he’s in the shooting motion i thought he was when Seakum contacted him it’s Pascal Seakum second and he’ll say no shots as it’s side out thunder 1007 to play thunder stay relentless though in pursuit of the equalizer in this series mighty impressive response we’ve seen it so often from this young Thunder team in the regular and postseason wallace will inbound near sideline front court looking dub comes to it bodied by Nehart jub stutter steps retreat spins working the ball handling maneuvers to the left baseline jump past right corner caruso sets a speed square the shoulders misses the three ball hart komb Wallace has it golden feeds inside to Brusso spins a right hand reverse out and in but they won’t count it they say Miles Turner hit him before he shot but the Thunder relentlessly attacking on the offensive glass right now lengthening their advantage in rebounds to 3729 9876 the count thunder seeking to administer a knockout punch against a team that plays the full 48 with 953 left wallace again looks to get it in does to Caruso out front alex looking right to a curl cutting Dub in the paint lobbing Hartinstein gathers knocked away dub gets it back and he’s stripped of the ball going up by Sakum loose ball finds Wiggins he drifts to the right corner one to shoot vicing left on the run floats it up no good from 12 loose ball battled for and off the hands of Turner out of bounds that ball was not touched by the Thunder they call it off of Hartinstein and Hartstein says challenge that that ball clearly off of Turner the Thunder have to challenge it quickly and they won’t and now they will but they indicate that too late that ball clearly off of Turner turner now to Hallebertton driving right blows a runner unguarded it’s good from 12 his third make comes with 927 left that ball clearly off Turner’s hands 920 to play as Caruso is grabbed off the ball by Seakum pascal picks up his third and the Pacers showing signs of frustration trailing by 20 9878 game three should be a doozy coming up at Gamebridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Wednesday seen shifting to Indie hardenstein out front angling left on the perimeter bounce speeds on the wing to Wiggins spinning in traffic hooks it inside to Kuso pumpking Seakum fouled by Seakum going up and that will produce free throws on the fourth team foul against Indiana so the Thunderdoing to the Pacers exactly what Indiana did to them putting them over the foul limit 3 minutes into a quarter that happened in the third quarter the other way excellent cutting excellent ball movement tremendous tenacity on the backboard as OKC has done a good job nine second chance points eight for the Thunder in this game as Caruso’s turned into a scorer in this one with 16 in 22 minutes thunder have generated eight steals tonight four of those courtesy of SGA with a block now is Caruso his standard tenacious self bolstering a bench that’s dominating Indiana reserves in game two 9978 Thunder second looks good and is Thunder break 100 with 913 to play leading by 22 hallebertton in front court shadowed by Dors find a pick by Turner weaving left now for a pull up 18 foot stroke straightaway that’s good so Hallebertton finding his way in the fourth quarter he often does he has nine now including consecutive makes in the fourth inside the 9minute mark under by 20 tub out front drives by Siaka jump stops in the paint for a fadeaway 13t stroke that’s cur OKC at 48% shooting and Jaylen Williams on the beam with 17 saka out front challenging though crosses him over slide baseline on the run and high window er saves it going out of bounds Hartstein excellent hustle dubet swooping left on Hallebert kept to the wing and fires on turner a three ball but it’s still advised not close has the miss Pascal up the left side to Nehart spinning on Wiggins behind the back dribbles in traffic nearly swiped by Dort gets it back dishes to Shepard up top now Nemhart fed barreling left on Dort as we have a blocking going on L it’ll be his fourth nehart completely out of control trip himself 817 left caruso out with 17 points his career playoff high is 20 that happened in the opening round against Memphis in game one won by 51 by the Thunder to begin this postseason push home Gran Hartstein out they’ve been a terrific tandem tonight iard eight rebounds four assists three points in 22 minutes jets got 15 points five boards an assist and a block 14 to shoot hallebertton lobs it near mid court turner gets it back tyrese down the lane unguarded lays it up and lays it in easily as a middle opened wide 811 to play it’s 10282 much of this will be filed away by Rick Carile for game three you got to believe that dub left base on contained by Turner a blocking foul called on Miles as Dub got cracked in the head by Miles Turner who commits a second rick Carlau cannot be serious challenging that call are you kidding dub to the line hopefully okay jaylen six of seven shooting foul shots has 17 points also five rebounds and four assists penalty situation in effect pacers already out of fouls with 802 to play in game two as Rick Carile is going to challenge that call by Ben Taylor and he is hot and after Taylor that’s simply frustration there’s no way he wins this challenge none that’s the definition of a hard foul by Miles Turner 802 to play we have our first coach’s challenge of game two it allows us to take time thunder up 20 this is Thunder Basketball progressive knows sports brings people together but you got dog of the Oklahoma City Thunder well we told you chances of the Rick Carile challenge were zero and none and that’s exactly how it’s played out officially miles Turner didn’t come close to establishing legal guarding position the Pacers burned their challenge and they’re getting burned in game two down 20 10282 looking for a place to watch the finals the game’s always on at Thunder Watch Zones presented by Michelob Ultra find a watch zone near you at okc thunder.com/bar network thunder relentless tonight and that’s exemplified by their five offensive rebounds in the fourth quarter alone helping them outscore Indiana 98 in the frame and in the nonshade minutes tonight under rallying to be plus 12 as Rick Carile continues to plead his case to Ben Taylor save it Rick gather your forces for game three 20point game here four minutes into the fourth quarter as Indiana comes with Matherin Toppin Ben Shepard Miles Turner and Tyrese Hallebertton jdub readying for his eighth and ninth free throws of game two fender getting to the line 26 times after this sequence mentioned this earlier in the series the Pacers allowed more foul shot attempts than any team in postseason and that’s been the case throughout they yield 28 and a half free throw attempts a game it’s Wiggins who’s been a massive inspirational spark off the bench with 14 in 18 minutes in game two joined by Dort Homegrren Dub and SGA so Shay back logging 31 minutes of team him swipes four steals block a shot out seven assists and score 27 802 to play Thunder by 20 doub’s first free throw makes it a 21-point game he’s got 18 jaylen on this postseason run for the Thunder two times over 30 eight times over 20 also has a double double strokes to second it looks good in his Thunder from the line 23 of 26 taking care of business in a big way in game two up 22 they’re led by as many as 23 that was in the second quarter 755 left hallebertton between the rings angles right back at the pit by Turner fires a wing three that’s up and in so Hallebertton comes to life in the fourth quarter has made his second three in six tries he has 14 points 11 of those coming in the fourth 19-point game as Shay burrows into the left corner guarded by Sheepard backs down draws a double from Turner retreats and dumps it inside the home right wing dump crosscourt left to Wiggy sets himself for another angle left three-pointer gets that Ruffins getting Wiggy with it baby in game two he has 17 points including five three-pointers thunder 107 the Pacers 85 that’s OKC’s 22nd assist they’ve made 12 of 33 threes 36 and 12% hallebertton dancing and dancing bounce fees to Turner he wants three angle right it’s up no good long rebounds run down by Sheepard hallebertton has it dumps it up corner to Topin he wants a three ball that’s block one up by Dor got a piece of it home had a loose ball knocked away by Shepard toppin in the corner up top to Turner 7 minutes left jason Hallebertton driving and kicking wide left of Turner claimed by Hal by Matherin driving and lobbing left wing topping over to the dribble former Nick crosscourt right intended for Hallebertton and jammed out of bounds by JDub playing this Pacer team requires full-on effort for the full 48 minutes and the Thunder have given that and and then some tonight 10 to shoot mather out front swiped at by Dub Turner screens mather wedges right behind it down the lane on Homer puts defenders and he’s fouled going up by either Dort or Homer with 4.5 left on the shot clock ton Dort going to be his fifth van Matherin is a droid at drawing fouls although I’m not well it’s hard to say the one replay I thought Dort got clean but there was no protest by Loose so apparently against his buddy growing up in Montreal Quebec he’s guilty as Mathers at the free throw line one of two tonight he has six points his first foul shots good this is an area of Matherin’s game that he really excels at very good drawing contact and fouls he averaged 10 points a game against the Knicks in the Eastern Finals got to the foul line 29 times in those six games caruso back in joining Dort SGA Wiggins and Chad Holton outstanding Thunder performance in game two 644 left leading by 21 matherin ready with the second an Arizona product for a collegiate season strokes it and sticks it indiana’s knocked down 17 of 23 free throws shay in the back court hounded by Sheepard behind the back dribbles twice works it up the left sideline to activate the attack hand check by Sheepard 32 for the bucket straight away crosses over snaking right elevates in fate 13 but jumper on the way nothing but net 29 for SGA working Shepard that time 10987 thunder at 48% shooting in game two brilliant hallebertton angles left up from the dribble sets up Thomas Bryant gives it up to CP swooping left down the lane to the rim high overdren can’t convert the left hand scoop and the loose ball is knocked out of bounds they say by Wiggins it will stay pacer possession with 14 to shoot jay Dub back in with 611 left sitting down Wiggins aaron gets a big round of applause what an effort by Wigs on the fringes of the rotation at times in the playoffs but man has he been big tonight 20 minutes 17 points 14 to shoot hallebert the trigger leads inside to pinned sails it up front to Nav Angland left back with a pick by Bryant into the paint steps away fires an open 13 for Trump with good gathered the physical player he scored the last four Pacer points and has 10 tonight he’s the fifth Pacer in double figures check out the six they’re previously undefeated 10 and0 when they’ve had six and doubles in the playoffs they incur their first loss here as Matherin reaches in again he’s not a disciplined defender picking up his fourth foul trying to stop Sha’s surge down the lane double teaming with Thomas Bryant no luck 10989 Thunder with 550 left when the Patriots have been held under 110 in the postseason they’re 0 and4 when they score 110 plus 13-0 it’s ironic because had the Thunder stopped them on that last shot in game one to Shay buries the first free throw his ninth consecutive home 30 plus point effort with 30 points in 33 minutes the second time he’s done it in this series 38 in game 130 tonight but had they stopped Hallebertton and he missed that shot they’d have scored 109 and lost 110 109 so that crazy trend would have been intact instead it went the other way as they scored 111 and won the game by one jay got them both thunder by 22 again 11189 mcconnell right wing to Adam blasting baseline shovels corner left to Hallebertton pump faking firing an off balance three it’s short well defended george hits the rebound to SJ shay’s gathered five boards seven assists 31 points four steals and a block shot did he sell any popcorn tonight I wonder silvas Alexander crossing over working on McConnell lobs to the rim caruso grabs it and steps away from topping howard says “I’m not that young.” Barreling down the lane lays it up across his body no good hallebertton has the miss speeding back away with the travel right baseline to Matherin up and under quirls a right hand reverse in hallebertton took four steps no whistle 11191 he’s got six assists now in game two inside the 5minute mark Thunder by 20 chase mid post left on McConnell powers Hallebertton doubles shay finds Dub who throws it away in traffic knocked down hallebertton tries to run down a long lead from Toin and does in the corner addition to McConnell baseline toppin whips it inside bad pass stolen by Dub thunder stays stuck to the Pacers that’s their 15th takeaway tonight as they rise as one at Paycom center what a night a Sunday on which to celebrate OKC Thunder basketball up 20 in game two of the finals with four and a half left day barrels right jump has left winged dove wide open strokes a three from the flank it’s in and out no good clears giving to McConnell with 420 to play TJ front court off the stutter step to the baseline pinned by Holren jump passes corner right to Hallebertton catch and shoot fading away on a three hits it come up big in the fourth quarter he’s got three threes in the quarter and 17 in the game 11194 minutes to play under can’t nap they know the comeback prowess of the Pacers and Mark Dagnel does as well and calls a timeout oklahoma City up 11194 in game two exactly 4 minutes left looking to seal the deal and finish strong in game two tonight pacers on a 7-2 first the last 2 minutes and 4 seconds keep hope alive from Indy’s perspective this is Thunder Basketball attention teachers create Seakum currently of the Pacers was a part to have five players for at least 15 points sj’s got 31 tonight off the bench kuso 17 Wiggins 17 jdub has 19 among starters chad Hungren 15 so the Thunder also done marvelous work at the free throw line in the second half warding off Pacer advances 19 of 20 foul shooting since the break the OKC lead is 17 with four minutes to play they’ve been up by as many as 23 indiana’s only lead came early by no more than three dominated game two and they look to finish the job to force the 1-1 draw through two games and make this a best of five NBA final series going to Indianapolis for game three on Wednesday but no letup here fanova Pacers have five victories when coming from at least 15 points behind including the game one recovery in the fourth quarter to win by one carisso will inmount against Ben Shepard’s on ball pressure as homeren SGA Dub and Dort with him blue playing with 500 shepard Thomas Bryant Bennett and Matherin TJ McConnell and Johnny Fury the rookie in for the first time in the finals jay blast right away from Matherin down the lane lays it up left-handed lays it home and he’s hacked in the axe so Gildus Alexander not yet finishing touches but moving in that direction baby with an and one 33 for Shay as Fury gets a rare look for the Pacers playing his eighth playoff game at 68 200 a firstear man from Kansas Australian born during the regular season average only two a game playing 50 for Rick Carwile’s club Murphy the 35th pick by San Antonio in the NBA draft back in June Shay’s free throw perfect hit him 34 four in the game every game he’s played against the Pacers two in the regular season two in this final series he scored 30 plus mcconnell right baseline drives by Dub up and under twirls a right hand reverse up and in that’s very poor defense by the Thunder it’s 11496 340 left shay with 34 in back pocket navigates across the timeline against Mus stabilizer in the half court gets home to pick splits the double team drives and jumps it left wing caruso up for the three that’s online and there should sing a Thunder money ball chase eighth assist gives Caruso a playoff career high tying 20 mcconnell back quickly down the lane on Chase spins in the left hand layup it’s 11798 with 315 to play so the Pacers may get to 100 despite scoring only 41 first half points but OKC has sustained its attack ferociously in game two joo-os the bounce between the rings as the Pacers show his own eight to shoot alexander jumped out by first at the top of the zone here’s Alexander sliding right on fakes and fades the angle right 13T jumper on the way trickle short matherin has a miss at 250 play long leading Kury pinned on the wing by Dub to the trailing Matherin working the angle right can’t escape pulls up fires anyway a three that’s no good but he’s hit on the arm by Dub a flat undisiplined foul by Jaylen Williams 242 to play matherin goes to the line to shoot three with 242 left under 117 Indiana 98 jdub picking up his third matherin under duress you just can test that shot stay clean and I’m not sure about the foul call but it will stand thunder won’t challenge it as Mitchell and Wiggins are readying to enter between free throws and Matlin’s going to have three of them 242 to play james Johnson readying to enter for the Pacers johnson in his 16th NBA season Wake Forest has played only three playoff games on this Indiana run to the finals matherine’s first of three is up and good so Ben Maverin one of six Pacers in double figures has 13 points 11799 Thunder leaving very little doubt in their response to the game one-point loss matherin has two more to come lost the second one and leaves that one short no good the crowd loves that looking to distract him with thunder sticks down in the end zone to my right aj Mitchell Kenriz Williams Aaron Wiggins in SGA Jay Dub and Chet Homer out so Dub and Jet have combined 11 of 25 shooting tonight for 34 points shay administers another 30point delivery with 34 eight assists five rebounds four steals and a block tremendous overall effort by that trio as Mathering readies for the third of three his team down 11799 benedict strokes it and sticks it 242 left edward Williams provided big minutes off the bench in this one doing a lot of things well to help the Thunder string this together to come back and even this series wiggins front court on the handle mathering on him and a space spread aaron top of the key to shoot slashing left down the lane a step lays it up block going up by Matherin and James Johnson the one with the two foul johnson says “I’ll take that.” 225 to play james is the son of a multi-time kickboxing boxing champion he brings that sort of physicality with him and has done that everywhere he’s been and he’s been with nine other NBA teams free throws for Wiggins 17 for him his playoff careerhigh 21 that came against Memphis in round one of this postseason run wiggins first free throw is perfect can’t say enough about a guy that has seen his playing time curtailed but Wiggins when called upon tonight mandated playing time he had been one of his previous six the last four games from three tonight knocking down off the bench five of eight threes for 18 points six of 11 from the floor caruso and Dort step off isaiah Joe and Jay Will step on with 225 to play 118 100 Thunder as OKC made a habit of scoring 120 plus during the regular season averaging 120.5 and likely to do that against the Pacers here in game two second free throw in and out murphy has the miss giving to McConnell the veteran streets cross timeline guarded by Mitchell gives it up on the wing for a three ball by Ben Shepard get short doubling back the snag to miss mitchell his fourth rebound in this series the rookie dribbles to the left wing contained by Fury the ball swung up top to Jay Will crowded by James Johnson giving to Joe lobbing inside to J will fumbles the ball out of bounds two minutes left jay Will a big grin may have had a dunk and he held on to that that’s the Thunder 12 turnover they forced 15 in game two wiggins out with 18 points four rebounds and an assist a definitive X factor tonight inside the final two minutes the verdict decided in game two as McConnell dish it to Johnson up top on the dribble weave to Fury dylan Jones guards him dylan off the bench matherin fires an angle right three to Jay Will clears with 145 to play up the right side joe Isaiah picked up by Fury ducks baseline stripped to the ball fights to get it back diving but McConnell tips it to James Johnson 130 to play 1181 100 Thunder Johnson front court played by Jay Will Jansen comes baseline flips it inside to Minan pump faking Guzman Jang who steps in no maneuverability there 10 to shoot Matherin steps to left wing now across the lane left to right jump pass the corner right to Shepard wide open Ben’s three is good for the Bas 14th three tonight under with 13 of those Mitchell speed dribbles front court to escape fullourt pressure supplied by Fury under 15 118 103 with a and five remaining in game two the Chan is OKC at PCOM center and what a response they’ve offered tonight off the gut punch one-point loss of game one mitchell up the right side bodied and fouled by James Johnson i think Johnson just wants to collect as many fouls as he can acknowledging again that he blasted Mitchell 35 ft for the bucket mitchell to the free throw line jj incurred that great toe injury that sidelined him a good chunk of his rookie season playing only 36 games but and with a 36 they were lefty from UC Santa Barbara lawson sticks the foul shot he went scoreless in game one in four game minutes in the second quarter during the regular season at 6 and a half points two rebounds and nearly two assists what a bright spot he was at the 38th overall pick by the Knicks 12103 he got both free throws thunder by 17 mcconnell into the paint for a fadeaway 12oot jumper that rolls around and good that’s his game he’s now got 11 off the bench he’s the seventh pacer in double figures thunder lead is 15 mitchell off the stiff spurts cross the combine as they rises one at Paycom center thunder receiving a standing ovation up 15 with 40 seconds left in game two mitchell 10 to shoot top of the key cross is over kick strike runner jay will he wants three loftton is sticking it to a thunder money ball finishing touches tonight baby okc on route to a game two route up 123 105 25 seconds left johnson left wing down the lane side steps lays it up and lays it in 123 107 first by Jay Will there shot clock’s off and this one is over the Oklahoma City Thunder clap back at the Pacers after receiving a massive gut punch a game in which they led throughout until there were 310 of a second to play in game one on a Hallebert and rainbow jumper losing 111 110 they show that rebounding prowess unbeaten following losses that remains intact as the Thunder win game two big 123 107 over the Indiana Pacers and this series is even at 1-1 going back to Indie for game three on Wednesday night so we know now there will be a game five here that will be a week from tomorrow night at Paycom Center as this series will go at least five as the two teams have split the first two at Paycom Center tonight’s OG power play of the game comes courtesy of Aaron Wiggins and Alex Cruz off the bench combining for 38 points as OKC wins game two big 123 107 ogene re-energized life thunder brought energy they brought consistency they brought great effort in game two as I think we all expected they would as they even this thing up decisively with a 16-point victory over the Pacers aaron Wiggins putting on the headset to join me I believe downstairs as he’s being given the headset now okc had a six lead change effort going into the second quarter where they blew it open outscoring the Patriots 33-21 aaron can you hear me okay I hear you just fine all right I want to hear from you how do you stay professional and ready as you were tonight in the biggest game of the season for this young team and come out and deliver the way you did the 18 points in 21 minutes uh man like you said uh biggest game of the season um we’re in the finals man so uh you got to be ready regardless of you know what your time looks like regardless of um you know your role you got to be ready and and you want to go out there and contribute to helping the team uh get in a position to win games you buried five three-pointers in this game you know that’s Indiana’s game how important was it for you guys to virtually match them in three-pointer for three-pointer in game two uh I mean it wasn’t like a focus to try and match them but um to play our pace uh to share the ball to play you know the way that we always play um and shots fell for me tonight my teammates kept finding me um and and we were just you know in a good rhythm it looked like what may have been a priority was quickening your pace offensively you had great ball movement with 25 assists after 13 assists in game one can you talk a little bit about that sharing the ball distributing getting everybody involved yeah I mean you know our our style of play when we’re at our best is when we’re sharing the ball um when we’re playing fast and kind of you know creating good looks for each other so um we emphasize that we did a good job coming out from the jump and and you know trying to execute that and uh we just got to carry it over what is it about you guys Aaron that allows you that zero mentality off of a really tough gut punch loss by one late in game one to come out tonight and perform the way you did man just knowing that you know it’s it’s first of four it’s a series um like like you said uh biggest game um of our season and uh this is you know the finals so you’re playing for something um you can’t sit on you know the the last game or the day before you got to be ready for the next game so the big question now Aaron going to Indianapolis where you’ve got game three coming up Wednesday is how do you wrestle homec court advantage back from a team that has shown great confidence through this postseason run the Pacers they’ve got two coming up on their home floor yeah man i mean rest up make sure we’re you know watching film and and getting together to you know prepare ourselves obviously for playing on the road um but just play our game man go get it um play go out there um play confident and play together tremendous job tonight great to watch you do your thing in a big win for your team thanks Aaron thank you aaron Wiggins joining us downstairs one of five Thunder players to score at least 15 points they become the first team since the Toronto Raptors in 2019 to accomplish that in the NBA Finals that Raptors team won it all surprising Golden State in that ambush of the Warriors we’ll see if that bodess well for the Thunder moving forward from here in a series that’s even at one a piece with game three coming up in Indie on Wednesday thunder big in game two 123 107 a night on which they led by as many as 23 a great job outscoring the Pacers inside again 4234 okc also shot it much better than the Pacers in this one 49 to 45% overall they both made 14 three-pointers and OKC won the rebounding battle by 84335 as they delivered a sustained full 48minut effort overall to win it 123 107 tonight we’ll come back with some final numbers and final thoughts from PCOM Center as this NBA final series is even at one a piece going to game three now a best of five the Pacers hold homecourt advantage against the Thunder we’ll see if OKC can do something about that with game three coming up on Wednesday in Indie this is Thunder Basketball taco Bueno is the official taco of the Oklahoma Hamilton Matt Ravvice at Lively Beerworks Tap Room we’ll tell you more about Lively coming up in just a moment we will also hear from the head coach of the Oklahoma City Thunder Mark Dnold is preparing to give his postgame remarks and he’s sitting down right now let’s go and listen in to Mark with the media thought there were a lot of things tonight that we were just like a little better in um and more comfortable and uh that was on both ends of the floor i just thought the guys did a good job of just improving which is important going from game one to game two joel on the right Joel Lorenzo to Oklahoma mark I I just wonder what it feels like against Indiana when you’re operating in that sort of 15 point to 20 point lead and and what you felt was different about the middle quarters of tonight uh compared to game one um you know I just think you have to understand against them because of the pace and because of the three-point shooting there’s a variance element to every NBA game in in this NBA but certainly in the games that they play um and I just thought we we were the aggressor tonight for much the game even when we had a lead I thought the guys did a really good job of keeping the foot on the gas uh especially defensively i I thought we really amped it up on that end of the floor there’s a couple times where we got off track uh on both ends uh but we were able to course correct pretty quickly so I thought the guys did a really good job of just recognizing when we weren’t where we needed to be and getting there quicker joe up front Joe Mado the Oklahoma mark what did you think of Aaron Wiggins and just the spark he gave you guys off the bench and the rest of the those bench guys as well yeah I mean they were huge tonight he was huge tonight i give him a lot of credit um because he was a huge part of our success this season uh and in the playoffs his role has been variant night to night but he hangs in there i mean he was huge in the uh game four win at Denver in um that series uh and he was massive tonight went in there with great confidence didn’t go in until the second quarter and and just dove right into the game so great professionalism great readiness and a huge uh performance for us you know in that situation jenny Mark Jenny Carlson with the Oklahoma obviously there was a stretch there in the fourth where Tyrese kind of gets going but you guys through three plus just really held him in check it seemed like he maybe wasn’t getting the ball to teammates wasn’t rebounding maybe as much as he did in the first game was that part of maybe keeping him at bay as long as you did what did you like about your defense on him yeah I mean they’re not the type of style where you’re just like keying on one player you know just because the way they play and so um they’re more conceptual team and you have to be kind of a conceptual defense against them and um if you do that I think it has a downstream effect on on everybody um against them and so I thought we were able to do that tonight i thought like I said to Nick’s question the guys just really improved in a lot of like subtle areas you know from game one to game two which is what you have to do in a playoff series to stay ahead of the series barry over here second row yeah Barry Traml Tulsa World you played your bigs differently today in terms of the rotation what’ you like about the way Chad and Isaiah played separately and together um they were both really good uh in both situations i thought um both of them gave us huge lifts on both ends of the floor uh they were that was one area uh where we improved tonight was our pick and roll coverage against their um their bigs they’re a different look because of uh the rolling the popping just the way they play and I thought one area that we really improved was on the defensive end in that area of the game and you know they both were great i thought Ched in particular he obviously had a rough offensive night in game one as always you know he rose back up and and was really really good gats from the Athletic uh I’m I’m curious how how you felt like your offensive process changed from game one to game two and specifically in just getting into your sets a little earlier it seemed like you guys were were a little more urgent getting into sets earlier in the clock and and how you feel like that affected you guys offensively today yeah I they’re very distinct team you know they’re not just like a vanilla team they they play a very distinct style it’s part of their effectiveness uh and it’s both ends of the floor they have an off offensive reputation and they’ve been kind of branded as an offensive team but they have a defensive identity as well um that’s you know predicated on pressure and perimeter physicality um and I just thought in a lot of areas it’d be you know easy to just say that one thing looked better tonight but that would be oversimplifying i think we were just a little bit better in a lot of different areas of execution of pace to your point um organization uh decision- making in the paint um aggressiveness at the basket you know gathering the ball we just like were a tick forward in all those areas on your right Sam in the front sam A the athletic mark with Shay uh after game one there was some discussion that that it was a bad 38-point game which probably speaks volumes about what he’s capable of um and then you look at tonight but speak to the bigger picture all playoffs long 36 and five he’s kind of creeping up the the history charts when it comes to the impact and his ability to meet at this moment yeah unsurprising at this point it’s just kind of what he does he just continues to progress um and improve and rise to every occasion um that he he puts himself in and that we put ourselves in um and I thought you know his floor game tonight was really really in a great rhythm um I thought everyone played better individually and I thought we played better collectively and I thought that was just a byproduct i give the team a lot of credit because that’s a long 48 hours when you lose game one like that coming into game two and the guys did a great job of just focusing on what we needed to do to stack to a win tonight uh and that’s how we got it so that was individual players collectively offense defense everything dan over here on the third row on the left Dan Deanyahu Sports uh along those same lines uh Jaylen 19 points five of 14 shooting but the the impact overall seemed to be here from them i’m just wondering what you’re seeing in terms of the shots he’s getting and then his overall floor game the impact of that yeah he he didn’t get off to like a a great start in his first stint and then he really settled into the game and he’s huge for us i mean it’s you know all the things he brings to the game defensively size versatility physicality um offensive on ball off ball you know it’s that floor is really high you know like we really need him every single night um and when he has the great offensive nights then he’s he’s unbelievable but he’s a great player independent of that and I thought he was a great player tonight he was another guy he took a nice step forward i think we all just kind of calibrated to our opponent um but you have to continue to improve in a series i mean they’re going to go home be very comfortable um they play very well there uh in these playoffs and so if we don’t continue to improve then you know we’ll get caught behind them michael down left Mark michael Grange from Sportsnet Toronto uh I think Shay had six assists for or assists to six different players for three and you know fairly critical game obviously and what does it say about the kind of trust uh that exists between him and and vice versa uh in a situation like this that he’s willing to get get off the ball and and and let other guys get kind of step up and help yeah I mean that’s been a mark of his whole season and I think that’s an area the scoring and the efficiency obviously gets a lot of shine but um he’s really steadily improved as a playmaker and he had he’s been doing that for a long time i thought in game one like I said it was as much to do with us calibrating to the opponent and the style which was very different from um really what we’ve seen in these playoffs um and I thought we did a good job of that tonight but again you know we have to continue to evolve in the series indiana’s going to do that um and we need to do that individually and collectively john in the middle yeah john Hollinger from The Athletic uh Mark even while keeping the same starting lineup it seemed as as you got into your bench you stayed much bigger at the two three four than you were in game one and I was wondering what uh went into that decision yeah I mean just uh the feedback from game one you know like we had regular season games that you know we studied and we studied their games leading into this and um then we threw out what we threw out in game one i thought there were a lot of good things in that um I also thought we could push you know a little bit in terms of size tonight obviously with the way that we went so um you know it’s it takes discipline but we try to really use these early games in the series to learn you know what our options are and what our trade-offs are and not assume anything um and that was the intent tonight is is just to get a little bit more information now we have it you know we’ll apply that as we move forward in the series last question on the back center Daniel Baso yeah Mark compared to game one defense seemed a little different not as many turnovers can you just talk about the differences between game one and tonight with the physicality point of attack our defense yeah i mean some of that’s Indiana you know there’s two teams out there and obviously when teams play against us they understand that um taking care of the ball is critical and so I thought um game one you know first half was probably an outlier um and then I do think you know when we play smaller we tend to be a little bit more of a turnover defense um and when we play bigger you know we have other strengths and so um it’s a combination of things but I thought overall every look we threw out tonight the guys did a great job with thank you coach yep thank you [Applause] there we go there was Mark Dnold addressing the media after a game to win this series is now tied at one apiece and now shifts back to Indiana and the next game will be a couple you can go ahead and get your questions or comments in on our text line and also we will hear from not only Thunder players but we will hear from some Indiana Pacers personnel as well already heard from Rick Carile a little bit earlier uh this evening we’re going to play that back for you and as we have some Pacers players we will make those available for you as well but plenty of opportunity to talk to you in the meantime uh but we’ll uh we expect those players to be coming to the podium at any moment uh in terms of this game uh Pacers took a lead uh fairly late into the first quarter might have been 3 minutes left in the first 20 to 17 so on pretty even footing there and then just a few minutes later it kind of got to the point where uh it was the rest of the game there there were two little mini bursts by the Pacers that got it to 12 or something but I mean like literally they played for about 9 minutes and then 5 minutes later we got to where the game basically hung the rest of the entire way no it did um and you know I I could tell early in the game that there was an emphasis on not only ball movement but player movement but um even even though the ball was moving around and the players were moving around early in that game there was still some some nervousness there or uh maybe just not as sharp as they needed to be throwing the ball at people’s feet uh too many busted possessions but then they settled into the game and played the way that they could and what I really like about this performance is you know game one wasn’t like a a flush it sort of thing i mean I know that the the ending was very disappointing and there’s some things that you would like to have back but they also did a lot of good things and I thought they improved on those things in this game um I thought Mark Dnult did a better job of playing the lineups that he needed to the rotations that he needed to hartenstein played a huge role in this game um uh even though he played virtually the same amount of minutes I just like the configurations better that he was in um in just the combinations that that Dal threw out there was tremendous tonight shay was good uh Cadet brought the the energy right from the beginning and his final box score uh is not all that impressive but I I thought he made an impact in this game early um in in a way that he didn’t the entire game one jdub was uh was was pretty good as well um and I thought his his lineup that that he led in the second quarter when Shay went off that was a big part of the game cuz the Thunder were able to extend the lead from there and then like you said it hung in that sort of balance from there or even got the lead got extended out from there yeah the the Thunder um went on like I think a 26point run it wasn’t 26 to nothing but uh it was an extended run over the course of I don’t know maybe 8 minutes 9 minutes something like that um and then it went from 23 to pretty much every time you looked up it was 18 to 20 something uh the basically the rest of the game there was one point where the Thunder got it up to I think it was like 52 to 29 may have been the score there thereabouts and Pacers instantly put on a 100 run in like 2 minutes they’re like “Okay here we go again.” and and then I thought the Thunder uh just continued to settle in at that point and and and played their their brand of basketball it felt like that was this was a game where they stuck to their identity more so um in in game one and then another thing I liked is um I I thought later in the fourth quarter in this game I should say about midway through the fourth quarter the Thunder initiated things early rather than standing and dribbling in the air out of the ball i thought they they put the pedal to the floor in that way uh let’s hear from did you say Shay at the podium let’s hear from Shay Gil Alexander who’s addressing the media you have to you have to stay focused on the task at hand now whatever that may be for your team and how you want to attack them or or go about the game plan but you you have to lock in and stay focused and even tonight we’ve had some moments of slippage um now you’re not going to be perfect out there ever but it goes without saying like to make it this far into the season it’s going to take supreme level of focus to reach the ultimate goal um and they’re they’re a display of that to the highest form like they play a full 48 minutes and you can’t just throw the first punch you got to try to throw all the punches all night um and yeah that’s what we did we threw enough punches tonight to get a W joe next joe Mado the Oklahoma Shay what did you think of the minutes that Aaron Wiggins gave you guys off the bench and just his shot making in this one yeah big time he uh it’s impressive to me like it’s it’s it’s he’s been exactly who he’s been all year throughout the playoffs like sometimes he it’s 20 minutes sometimes he gets two minutes sometimes he gets 10 like it’s all over the place and and no matter what he finds a way to impact winning for us um and you need it in the biggest moments uh no one man show can win you an NBA championship and for him to rise to the occasion and just be who he’s been in the biggest moment of his basketball career is uh pretty gutsy um says a lot about the the competitor and the man he is so hats off to Wigs dan over here on the left uh Dan Deanyahu Sports um first quarter pretty tight only a couple of possessions that separation then you go off on that big run in the second quarter i think it was 192 guess what did you see what was going on during that run to allow you to establish that separation and did that kind of feel like you guys play into your identity maybe more than you were able to in game one yeah we got stops we ran we capitalize on our opportunities um and we just we just strung it together and I think we we strung it together more often than we did in game one tonight um especially on the defensive end of the floor we’re going to go Nick mike’s coming over shay I just want to ask you about the offense overall 25 assists and it just seemed like you had some of those uh ball movement plays that we’ve seen all season long and and why you were able to get to more of that tonight [Music] every night you me personally you try to attack the defense and you try to just like make the right play you try to make them pay for what they throw at you coverage wise scheme wise um and I think tonight uh myself for sure did a better job of attacking it but as a whole we did a better job of attacking it u we were a little bit sticky last game but you have games like that sucks to be on this stage and have games like that but it is what it is um it’s where where we are right it’s where our feet are and all you can do is is try to be better for the next one and I’ve said that over the past couple days and I think we did a good job with that um on both ends of the floor second row on your right jamak from ESPN Brazil uh game one was loud but today it was loudest uh as a Brazilian I think that it’s the closest that you can have to a South American soccer crowd uh how much of a factor does they play on on your wing yeah it helps a lot uh it feels like throughout the whole playoffs the crowd has found a way to get louder every game i don’t know how they do it um but yeah it’s special to be able to play in front of them it it honestly like it makes the road games a little bit easier because it feels like it’s almost not as loud as it’s been at home um so yeah they’re special the best fans in the world brad over here on the left Brads from the Athletic uh Shay getting back to the offense it seemed like you guys really made an effort to kind of get into your sets earlier in the clock and and and get into that pacing more how how much of a sticking point was that for you and and if so how how helpful was that in just kind of being able to run the offense how you guys normally do um I’m not too sure i don’t that wasn’t like something that we try to emphasize going into the game um but I think we just had a better like better flow to us tonight offensively um more in rhythm and I think that that is a definitely a product of it you give yourself more time through a possession you can work it more um not something we tried to specifically do but stuff like that definitely helps the little things fourth throw on the right valencia King Real Talk Sports shay I heard you mention having an extreme level of focus tonight as you guys head into Indiana i know the word momentum gets tossed around a lot is there a momentum that you can carry over or is it a reset every game’s a reset um especially at this stage in the in the season you know a series looks so different we’ve had a series where we lost a game and won the next one by 40 we’ve got a series where we won two in a row by 20 and then lost the next one by 40 so it’s like every game’s a reset um and basketball reminds you of that it’s very humbling it it shows you that if you don’t stay in the moment if you don’t come play ready to play no matter who you are no matter what you just did you can get beat and beat pretty bad and we’ve learned those lessons so we should be ready to go michael and Sam last two on the right shay Michael Grange Sports Toronto you I mean what does it say that uh in a game that’s pretty much very crucial win to get that I think you had six different assist to six different three-point shooters and uh you know that you were so willing to rely on your teammates in a situation like this um the way I see it I have no choice um no one man show um achieves what I’m trying to achieve with this game uh all the stats and the numbers they’re fun but I don’t play in space as much as I do without having them out there i don’t get open as much as I do without having the screeners out there um whether it’s a slide out or a set like those guys are the reason why we’re as good of a team as we are and I just add to it so um I the way I see it I I had no choice they um were ready for the moment as I knew they would be and they uh performed sam last question front right sam A the Athletic Shay your uh your 72 points in the first two games is an all-time high for a player in his first two finals games allan Everson had 71 how does that hit you and and beyond your scoring because that’s not the end of your game just how do you feel like you uh are meeting this moment on the final stage um I’m being myself i don’t think I’ve tried to reinvent the wheel or step up to the plate with a different mindset just just try to attack the game the right way and I think I’ve done a pretty good job with that so far um no I would trade the points for two W’s for sure but um you know this is where our feet are this is where we are and um you can’t go back in the past you can only try to make the future better so that’s what I’m focused on all right that was Shay Gildz Alexander after his team’s blowout win in game two of the NBA finals series is even at a game a piece indiana will host game three coming up on Wednesday when we return we’ll take some of your calls your text and we’ll hear from some more Thunder players having a great time at Lively Beerworks Tap Room before that though let’s uh find out who the hardest find an agent near you matt Ravis who do you select well there’s probably a couple different guys you you you could select um I thought Hartinstein played extremely hard in his 17 minutes tonight lou Dort um Tyres Allebert not getting off into the fourth quarter whatsoever but Alex Caruso the human crash test dummy and you could see that whenever he’s out there playing in the NBA finals especially um and his box score um was u uh was was definitely packed so I thought Alex Caruso worked extremely extremely hard tonight all right we’ll hear from some more Thunder players when we return you’re lively beerworks tap room thunder recap and this guy is certainly a candidate for differencemaker let’s listen to Aaron Wiggins after his big night we talked about you know the big scoring nights you had during the regular season and you know going coming into this game or I should say throughout this entire postseason is there an ups and downs kind of flow to that in the sense that you’re you’re sort of itching to put a performance together like this or is it just sort of those any game this could happen and that’s your mindset going in yeah I mean win first mentality for me so not thinking about you know how many points I’m going to score or what it looks like just want to go out there and play more than anything so uh if I score zero points but I get 15 rebounds and I’m playing 20 minutes I’m I’m happy um so um you know not not itching to to have a big game by any means just you know trying to help the team win thank you thank you aaron Wiggins with a team first mentality there but tonight uh when you looked at you know the way the team performed when certain players were on the floor uh Aaron was uh one of the best in that regard wasn’t he yes he was i I was glad that you uh brought him up as a candidate because he um as much as Shay changed his game and we know what what impact he has and the value that he has but uh Aaron Wiggins the fact that he has a podium game for the NBA finals I think probably deserves that award yeah he was a what plus 24 Matt game high in this game game high uh so Aaron uh as he typically does throughout the course of the season will kind of come out of nowhere with uh with big night when Oklahoma City really needs it all right uh we’re going to hear from some more Thunder players we’ll hear from some of the Pacers as well during this show we’re going to get to your text messages coming up here in just a little bit but let’s go ahead and start off our phone calls with Bailey you’re on the Thunder Recap bailey thanks for hanging on go ahead hey hey i got a I got a hot theory for you something you’ve never heard all right let’s hear it they shot us down but we got up we are Titania [Laughter] there you go uh that was um kind of in line with the karaoke that was going on during the game did you see that i saw some uh that happened in game one too um I didn’t realize that was uh is it CIA or is it David Ghetto who did that song up next on the phones London is uh hanging on we appreciate that london go ahead hey I’m a firsttime caller and I am so excited um I wanted to talk about Aaron Wiggins he absolutely made the difference he made the difference for the game tonight he had 20 and we won by 20 and so my main question is should he be starting uh I love his contributions off the bench um I don’t I don’t think he is a starter for this team but um he is on a fantastic team friendly contract no reason Wigs is going anywhere so as the old uh saying goes he you say basketball thanks so much for the call uh feel free to call in again anytime 405900995745900 WWLS phil is up next you’re on the Thunder Recap phil go ahead hey guys man uh just excited that they won wiggins i mean I know sometimes he has his moments where he’s not showing up but he showed up tonight and definitely a lot of love from Shay um from postgame stuff um I definitely feel better for game two today because funny story game one I was at a camp sponsoring a camp we had to we had a few kids earn some money to to to watch the game and we had to start it late and in the process of trying to restart the game I saw the final score and I had to spend 48 minutes knowing not spoiling for children that their favorite team was going to lose so and especially the way it happened it was rough they were like “What no.” So anyway oh man it was heartbreaking but anyway tonight was much better um I’m just really excited i definitely want to get your guys’ thoughts moving forward um what do you what do you see um as far as uh minutes as well as start again and as well as how are they [Music] oh we lost Bill something yeah well I mean he was talking about kids earning money at the camp i’m assuming that’s not real money i think it’s fictitious money but uh I mean a lot of Thunder fans earned money to go see that game one and got disappointed with How do you handle it do you like uh he he knew about 40 minutes ahead of time do you say with 30 minutes left now keep in mind you know this is a really good team that they’re playing and anything can happen you know do you kind of try to I think you got to sprinkle some of that in there just preemptively soften the blow for two reasons one for their own sake they are just kids after all but two so you look a little smarter so you look a little you know you know what you’re talking about and those kids are going to be exactly like me like what the hell are you talking about this game is over yeah we watch this all year this is like a if that is your real name Phil this is just like a two-hour long party for us this thing overall game i’m disappointing Phil didn’t sing for us or disappointed but that’s okay um well maybe we’ll get that a little bit later on down the line when uh we get to scissor hands uh Jason is up next jason you’re on the Thunder recap go ahead evening guys what’s up Jason good game for Good game for us got our heads back in it um I just going to touch on a couple of things i Okay I don’t think we’ve seen the Thunder as the Thunder yet i think tonight was a nice step in the direction but I feel we got a lot left in the tank and it’s time to dump it out and let it all hang out um how do you feel about splitting in Indiana and coming home or do you think it’s important that we get both of them before we come home and I’ll take that off the air all right thanks for the call appreciate it um I this is pretty selfish my answer because it’s it’s based on what I predicted i thought the Thunder would split at home i thought the Thunder would split on the road so I’m just going to going to stick with that yeah no nobody’s like Indiana might be they’re not happy that they lost this game there is some solace in the fact that they won and technically now there are more home games in India the rest of this series and the series is tied so that’s probably something they’re talking about on the Pacer post game right now is that hey uh you took homec court advantage away from this team and if you play the you perform the way you should then you know you you should win uh I think we did a good job of uh being aggressive and then uh playing more on two feet uh making some decisions in that mid paint area uh where in last game we were you know kind of just putting up those shots i think we did a better job of uh finding some better looks uh whether it was dunker spacing or kickouts or whatever it might be uh I feel like we did a good job of uh you know slowing down in that in that space jenny on the right jenny Carlson with the Oklahoma hey Chad mark said that Indiana’s offense is a conceptual offense and you have to play conceptual defense against them i know when it comes to Tyrese you’ve got to have great on the ball pressure with him but what are the rest of y’all doing or what did you do tonight to make his job harder to make the their offense um you know more difficult uh for them out there uh we have to play to our principles we’ve been working on them all year you know we can’t just forget who we are and then uh we have to communicate it’s really loud in there and we wouldn’t want it to be any any other way uh the fans bring us a lot of energy but you really have to communicate when it’s loud especially when somebody’s uh you know upguarding the ball they can’t see everything behind them so they’re trusting you to communicate with them and uh you know whoever’s uh you know guarding the screener kind of and whether they’re in coverage or something else uh they got to trust the people behind them to communicate with them what’s going on and trust that everybody’s going to be in the right spots and then just uh you know trying to execute over and over you know it’s a long game there’s a lot of possessions they’re uh you know throwing a lot of things out there every possession so it’s you just got to trust that uh you know communication and execution will get the job done back left Anthony Ser with the Athletic um how good did the big big to big lob feel especially considering you know you guys didn’t even go with a double big lineup in in game one uh you know I always love playing with heart especially when he’s throwing throwing lobs up to me uh but at the end of the day it was it was just two points um you know we got to it’s a good play for us so we got to look for it uh whenever uh that situation’s kind of given to us but um try to keep emotions out of it guy player who gets really upset uh between games and that fu you know fuels you if you have a bad game one or do you just you know try to shake it off oh yeah it definitely I mean a little bit of both uh you don’t want to get so wrapped up emotionally that you don’t even can’t process uh you know why things happened good or bad um and then you you also have to have a a level of care you know if you’re just like eh whatever um I don’t think that’s good either so uh I’d say I have a good middle ground of uh not getting overly emotional but also caring enough to try and always be better next game whether I have a good game or not dan on the left third row dan Devine Yahoo Sports seemed like you and Isaiah were both setting ball screens a little bit higher tonight maybe a little bit closer up to half court just wondering what benefits that provides for Shay or for Jada when they’re getting downhill uh I wouldn’t necessarily say that that’s like a tactical point or anything um I’d say that’s just where the screens happen to be set marcus back left marcus Thompson with the Athletic chad how would you explain or describe Caruso’s energy levels for a 30-year-old man um don’t disrespect our goat like that man uh he’s uh he’s one of those guys who you know is going to bring it every single night whether he’s 22 or 30 uh it doesn’t matter he’s going to bring it and uh I feel like as a collective we really feed off of that and then also his ability to kind of uh process things that are happening out there and and relay it and communicate it to everybody else is is really important for us so um you know hopefully that doesn’t uh fade away as the years go on last two questions fourth row on the right valencia King Real Talk Sports Chat mark mentioned how he knew as a collective you guys would improve from game one to game two but specifically you when you think about his belief in you how has he helped you grow not even just on the court but even off the court as a player uh it’s it’s extremely important uh you know when other people instill confidence in you it uh allows you to uh play more confident allows you to have trust in in what’s going on uh have trust in uh what he’s telling me and us as a collective uh and then also a big part of that is uh he has to trust that I’m going to do everything it takes to be better after uh you know bad games or bad plays or whatever uh it’s all about trusting uh that the other party has the right process in mind uh he always has the right process in mind and you know I try to as well uh and from there you know you can kind of build out uh a good working relationship good uh um ability to continue to improve and be better together last one on the right fourth row adam Francisco Suave report um this was OKC’s first finals win since June 12th 2012 what does it mean or what does that mean to you and what were you doing in 2012 2012 I was stuffing in the back of a SUV going on 12-hour car trips for AU tournaments and sitting uh playing uh what’s that game it’s like jetpack joy ride on the iPads in the back of the car that’s a pull right there um but yeah it’s hard to like think about uh stuff like that because you know we are in it um you know we won a game but that that isn’t the end goal so we got to continue to try and be better uh as the series goes on thank you Chad there you go at home addressing the media they think Alex Caruso is the keeper or something what kind of energy levels does Alex Caruso have for a 30year-old i know that’s old for basketball but for real life I mean you’re just kind of getting going you know for his for his age he’s actually pretty alert you know he [Laughter] he gets some pretty nice discounts with cards days there are better and and some that aren’t so good but you know for the for the most part we enjoy having him around yeah that’s right loves the early bird discount alice Garuso does that old man that was crazy i don’t know who asked that question it’s probably somebody we know but uh wow wanted to uh wanted to remark on that all right we’re going to come back will uh start to dive into your text messages alex you’re going to be next up uh on hold and we’re also going to hear from some of the Pacers we’re told that Rick Carile you can always listen to our programming on theportsan animal.com the sportsswan animal app where you can listen on demand at any time and the sports animal on all of your connected devices matt who delivered quality service in tonight’s game that would be Shay Gilis Alexander he had eight assists tonight and only had two turnovers and I thought uh made a concerted effort early to get his teammates involved uh the chat jub dub were taking shots early um he did his thing scoring wise needs to but um but he had eight assists tonight what did you think about the ball movement was this more about they just made everything tonight or was this more about they did try to move the ball around a little bit more it It’s funny how the answer can be both at the same time because I did feel like there was a more concerted effort and I could tell that from the beginning not just ball movement but player movement off ball but also shots going down and so that old adage about the the ball having life um that that that bore out tonight all right let’s head back to the phones alex is up next alex you’re on the Thunder Recap go ahead how you doing tonight guys doing good Alex how are you i’m doing just fine um I think Oklahoma City uh it goes without saying looked far better tonight um I’m really glad they were able to get this game because it would have been um really disappointing to see them go out rather quickly um they were talking about on the broadcast that the winner of game three and the finals tied 1-1 um goes on to win the series um 80% of the time so that’s going to be equally as nerve-wracking as the first two games um I really enjoyed getting to see Kenneth Williams out there tonight i’ve never seen a player score zero points and have such a big impact on a game just the hustle and the energy that he brings when he is out there is unmatched i’m really glad that uh Chad Holrren and J hey Alex alex really quick let me let me stop you ken Rich is perfect for the small ball lineups is he not because he can play in those but he’s got some length i mean he’s perfect for the small ball lineups yes it he fits in there like a glove i cannot believe how well that he fits in the small ball lineups it’s like It’s like it was meant to be it’s like Sam Prey literally thinks of everything most of the time i’m really glad that um Choling Grant and Jaylen Williams showed up tonight they made um as many jumpers I believe in like the first five minutes of that game as they did in the entire first game so it was really exciting to watch tonight no question about it hey we we appreciate the phone call lot better effort tonight from uh from Chad for sure all right uh now we’re about to read your text before that though we’re going to hear from Rick Carile the head coach of the Indiana Pacers uh just a few moments ago he sat down with the media and we were able to record that uh we haven’t heard any of this so let’s go ahead and listen in i’ll be interested to see what coach Carile had to say about his team’s performance in game two another bad first half obviously was a big problem and um we just played poorly uh a little better than the second half but you can’t be a team that’s uh reactive and expect to be successful or have consistency so we’re going to have to feel a lot better on Wednesday all right first question here hey Coach Leandro Saha from ESPN Brazil uh after not going with the two bigs uh in the first game uh they played a big stretch with that uh of the game with the Hartinstein and uh Homegrren uh do you feel like this had a big impact on the result tonight i don’t know if there was any lineup that they used that wasn’t impactful for them over here on the left yeah Zack Ostman Indianapolis star i guess just asking about Tyrese he kind of struggled to get engaged with the game the first couple quarters he does kind of find it there in the fourth quarter does anything change from him from from your perspective in terms of just kind of being able to get a little bit more engaged and see some of those shots fall well there’s a lot more to g to the game than just scoring so everybody’s got to do more um starts with the best players starts with you know Tyrese and Pascal and Miles who will be in here to talk to you guys and then it goes from there and so uh you know people shouldn’t just look at his points and assists and judge how how he played or any of our judge how any of our guys played just on that that’s just not that’s not how our team is built i mean we’re we’re an ecosystem that has to function together and you know stats you know we got to score enough points to win the game um but who gets them and how they get them not important first right here just 34 points in the paint in both of these games you guys talk about being a paint to great team what are the Thunder doing so well to keep you guys from playing the way that you want in there well they were the best in the league during the year at keeping people out of there and so they’re great at it um we’ve got to find ways to get the ball in there and you know it’s just there there are so many things that have to go right on a on a on a set of two possessions to get the ball into the heart of their defense you know you’ve got to get you’ve got to get a stop a rebound um you’ve got to be able to get the ball at the floor without a turnover and then you’ve got to be able to get it into the lane and to the rim and it’s um it’s a tough task so you know we’ll look at it um there were there were some stretches where we did some good things attacking the paint but um there weren’t enough second row middle talk about a lot responding to you know the kind of the runs that they go on and um you know trying to basically respond to those i mean what can you say about you know their depth obviously Wiggins comes in has a big game for them caruso hits some big shots i mean how do you guys how can you guys respond better to those things as far as you guys go offensively well f first of all you know you know Wiggins and Caruso played great those guys played great i thought I thought the atmosphere I thought their crowd was was exceptionally great and so as we go home um we’re going to need our crowd to be just like this crowd was i mean these these fans took it to another level tonight and that’s how Gainbridge is going to have to be you know for us to have a chance to be successful and um you know Caruso and and Wiggins as you mentioned both those guys shot it well they they caused other problems they ran well they made plays um they got a great feel for when to cut and and they hurt you in a lot a lot of different ways and so you know but you know Shay you can you can mark down 34 points before they even get on the plane tomorrow you know for the next game i mean the guy’s going to score um we gota we got to find ways to make it as tough as possible on him um you know we Williams played played really well tonight all our guys played well and so um you know we’re going to have to we’re going to have to do a lot of things better first row Scott Agnes Fieldhouse Files i’m curious you talk a lot about disposition and physicality how do you feel like your team handled that because Hey coach um with like 3 minutes 40 seconds left on the clock you took the main guys out can you maybe take us a little bit through the decision making um when you decide okay it’s over now we’re not trying to the very end and how do you come up with the decisions yeah it’s just uh you know NBA coaching sometimes you have to make tough decisions all right Rick Carlau there um the meat of that that notwithstanding toward the end oo I I really didn’t like most of that it was that was a really defeist attitude on talking about how many things go right and we understand that they’re playing you know it’s you know this team’s going to win it all and they they’ve but you you want to try to convey a little bit more of a message of uh hey we’re in this series uh we came here we won a game there are things that we’re doing well here and uh boy I just I really did not like that at all uh talking about everything that has to go right for them to have a possession where they can get a good shot uh and u uh some of the things that uh uh he said it was really defeist attitude for me yeah interesting perspective um I I I I could see how you get there that was my initial takeaway from here and then there’s a couple short answers there um I don’t know if that’s necessarily what you’re referencing but you know now that now that you say that I I definitely heard some of that um everything’s a tool if you’re a coach you know you want to try to use that as like a launching off point moving forward um I I think he probably recognizes that Thunder are the better team and although you know we’re sitting here like the sky is falling after the Thunder win game or excuse me lose game one and put away that way um you know he probably recognized what we did there’s a lot of things that went right for the Thunder in that in that game so um Carile’s an interesting guy he really is and some of his answers um I I like more than others so um it was an interesting presser that’s for sure uh it is a tough decision though to try to pull guys out of that you know game where in theory you could you you could get there but uh what are what’s the likelihood you do get there versus what’s the risk you incur by leaving your starters in you know if I coached against the Thunder I would pull guys like midway through the second quarter if they got up by 16 so that’s why I’m not an NBA coach but well I was Do you remember the conversation we had at halftime like what do you need to do and I like the I threw out some kind of um ballpark numbers of 20 points with five minutes left and that was about when Carle threw threw in the towel so um I I I think he just realized that hey your mission as a road team is to get one you did that and uh the Pacers are a pretty good home team too and they’re a good road team but they’re a good home team so uh we left something out of uh who provided the quality service and so I wanted to talk about this today so uh there was a concerted effort by many people within our radio station to put forth this all day thunder coverage thing that began with the morning animals working on an extra day and Jim Triber and Alishbach and uh their correspondents Barry Traml and Dean Blevens and and Mark Rogers too was part of that mark Rogers and then uh to you guys and so th this was formulated after the game on um Thursday and at this stage of the season um most everybody is kind of like drained by everything that’s happened there have been almost 100 games uh here that have been played and everybody especially our team uh Josh Lee Preston P Matt Ravvice are all coming up with ideas that sounds great how about if we do this do that and some of the things happened some of the things didn’t but I mean coach DNA says uh energy is a resource and energy can be transferred and it was just really really inspiring for me to see everybody kind of come together and not shy away from doing more stuff even though it’s this late in the season uh just for the benefit of the listeners to have more content because they want to uh get as much as they can as many opinions and perspectives and things like that and so I I just thought that was a really special thing happened over the last couple of days and I I shared that with our boss as well so uh just great job to all of you who were enthusiastic about putting uh all of the extra content together let me let me extend that just a little bit our pregame starts 30 minutes earlier right our postgame goes 30 minutes later and so these places are accommodating us so shout out to Hudson here at Lively Beer Works and I don’t know if people know this new York Times recognized Lively Beer beerworks tap room matt who cashed out in tonight’s game aaron Wiggins hit five of his eight three-point attempts and Mr wiggins cashed out in this game all right second consecutive game the Thunder have a player that uh hits five three-pointers in a game game three will be played on Wednesday in Indiana and that’ll be the only sequence of the series where there will be only one day in between games so the Thunder can win game three maybe keep some rhythm and momentum headed into game four let’s go ahead and head to our uh Johnny’s Kitchen and Bar text nation line matt we’ve had some questions and comments rolling in and coming up here in just a little bit we’re going to hear from Pacers star Tyrese Halbert want to get to Jim who texts us um gosh just about every single game this year um our shooting splits were 49 39 88 with our defense if we shoot that well every uh game we will not lose again however uh Andy scared me hallebertton would likely get on track also says “Looking at the team we had two starters total seven points putting big pressure on the big three.” But uh here is where Wiggins and Caruso just from a letown they still need to step it up on the road um on that topic couple guys asking us uh or a couple people listeners asking us uh what do you guys think happened on the road here um I think they split on the road what about you i uh I’m on Planet Thunder so I’m the wrong guy to ask i think the Thunder are going to win every single game they play in a blowout so I’m not going to deviate from that would anybody be shocked if they won two in a row i mean I I wouldn’t be no I don’t necessarily think so i I think there is a line of thinking back on planet Earth where it’s like well uh would the Pacers win two at home but could you see them riding you know a wave of energy in one of those games to a win you you certainly could see that but uh Terry says “I feel like the flow of that game was pretty close to game one as far as holding the Pacers at arms length throughout i’m glad we shot a better percentage and played all 48 got to get at least one of the next two out of the 405 so happy for Wigs been hasn’t been a big factor in the playoffs but he was called upon tonight and stepped up big love seeing stuff like that.” So totally agree uh do teams fly out tonight separate text or do they wait in the morning when there’s a break like this uh no they will not fly out uh I the Pacers might fly out but Oklahoma City certainly will not fly out tonight what is crazy is the amount of Pacers friends and family that are in the arena you can look around and see the pockets of them and I wonder Yeah I wonder what their plan is uh Coulter text us and says “I feel like the biggest difference between tonight and game one were rebounding and shot making okc only forced 15 turnovers tonight five of them from Tyrese Hallebertton alone but it feels like getting the boards is going to be the big key in Indianapolis rebounding tonight gideon 32 to 28 yep so uh plus four there for the Oklahoma City Thunder uh why do you guys think Jay will fell out of the rotation just not a It’s a matchup thing right yep there’s only so many players they don’t have a lot of big guys so you don’t need all of yours it was an honor uh separate text 434 which is somewhere in uh Virginia it was an honor to watch Wig State basketball so happy for that guy great work as always fellas keep it up we appreciate that quorum says um uh appreciative of your takes after every game we we appreciate you very very much um what do you guys think about Kase Wallace’s career trajectory what kind of player do you think he can end up being i I’m going to put a limit on what Kase can be i’ll just say that right now i don’t know about allstar which is what you’re asking it’s tough to be an NBA all-star uh but he’s gonna make some money lou Dord I think he can be better than Lou Dord i do i do um most of that off of the I think that he I I I trust him more i think he’s developed in there but that’ll be that’ll be a big thing for him and then three-point shooting i I think like in that range it’s I think that’s a lot of why they drafted him is because of his profile comparable to him um what do you guys think the Thunder have to do game three to have great success is it do what they did tonight that’s exact i mean is it too easy to say that no too lazy i feel like that’s that’s the answer though rebound okay make all your shots um hope the Pacers miss a lot of shots and uh I I think everything will be fine ball ball pressure Oklahoma City kind of died down a little bit um you can see it happen and they can’t keep it up forever but when they get up by like 22 or 23 if it’s not a part of the run they’ll start to play conventional defense again and that’s where teams will will get back at them so I I would just say uh keep your intense uh intensity level up and you’ll be fine did that tonight pretty well uh out of the 405 and I don’t have an answer for you but you bring up a good point uh three of the Thunder starters are still on the rookie contracts i I can’t believe that’s ever happened before uh this finals i mean I I doubt it uh there’s there’s no way based on the on the average age so great point um another good stat from another textter uh SGA had 72 points in the first two final games he passed Alan Iverson who had 71 and Michael Jordan who had 69 points out of the 918 i’m just going to read this verbatim okay going double bigs was an absolute slay appreciate that text uh a lot of people uh who also were agreeing with you on the on the coverage and and listened all day long and we’re we’re appreciative of that and so we appreciate you guys letting us know that as well uh somebody texting us from Denver saying that they listened all day long uh and uh I think Gideon that is what we have here on the Johnny’s Kitchen of Bar Tech Line very good we appreciate everybody sounding off and you can keep those rolling in as we’ve still got some show left for you when we return we’re going to hear from Pacers star Tyrese Hallebertton on another frustrating offensive night for him but was that at the expense of some other things and trying to get his teammates involved tonight pacers had a horrible shooting night for most of the game until the very end where they started to make some uh shots in the fourth quarter after this one had long since been decided it’ll be interesting to hear what Tyrese has to say as his team goes back home on Wednesday for game three we’re having a great Hamilton Matt Rabus here with you thunderwing game two in blowout fashion over the Indiana Pacers this one was over early for OKC and the series is now tied at one game a piece headed to Indiana game three on Wednesday and right now let’s hear from one of Indiana’s top performers throughout the season and the postseason tyrese Hallebertton offered his thoughts on what happened in game two and what to expect moving forward all right we’ll start right here in the front row tyrese Jenny Carlson with the Oklahoma um obviously you had a stretch there in the fourth quarter where you really got it going but felt like a lot of things were hard to that point what What were they doing anything different than what you saw in the first game uh no i mean this is who they are defensively they got a lot of different guys who can guard the ball fly around um you know they’re really physical force the you know the officials to you know let us play a little bit more um you know so just got to do a better job playing through there um you know I think I’ve had two really poor first half so um you know I just got to figure out how to be better um earlier in games um you know but you know kudos to them they’re a great defensive team but um you know watch the film see where I can get better left on on the front row and Zach Astro the Annapolis St kind of in that that same vein but coach called your offense an ecosystem where you know the more one guy succeeds the more everybody succeeds what have they done to disrupt that win they’ve had success slowing you guys down offensively these first two games yeah I think we just got to do a better job getting to the paint um you know it’s a lot easier said than done but um you know I feel like in the first half we were just moving the ball on the outside and we uh I don’t think we had a single point in the paint in the first quarter if I’m not mistaken so um you know our our offense is built from the inside out we got to do a better job getting downhill um you know they collapse and then you know make make plays from there but you know thought we could improve a lot there um but yeah man they’re flying around they got great point of attack defenders they got great rim protectors um you know it’s a great defense so uh we can do a lot better job and um you know watch the film and see if we can get better you know going into game three okay go all the way to the to the left Tim tyrese for as frustrating as I’m sure tonight feels like right now for you guys you are leaving here with a split yep that has to mean something to you guys what I I know it’s not a console doesn’t take tonight away but you came in here and did what you had to do you you took home court how much nicer will that make things when you get back to get back to get back home and figure out how to attack Wednesday yeah I think um you know any anytime you’re the lower seed in a playoff series you know your job is to go split or go get go try to get one on the road um we got game one um you know felt like we really let the you know the rope slip you know there in the second quarter um you know so I I I think you you can there’s many different ways that you can um choose to digest you know what’s what what’s in front of you um but yeah I think we just we focus on taking it a day at a time so uh you got the split you know you feel good about that um you know but we definitely wanted to play better tonight you know I think our processes need to be a lot better for us to uh to be successful here so um yeah uh it’s still a race in the first of four so uh we’re going to our home court um you know tied 1-1 and um you know we love playing at home love playing in front of our fans our fans are amazing um you know so just see where we can get better and um yeah take it a day at a time second row in the middle tyrese Ben good Yahoo Sports in the fourth quarter it seemed like you got going off the ball a little bit where they couldn’t track you is that something was that just by happen stance was that like something intentional of yours and is that something that you can kind of replicate early in games in these first halfs that you said were poor yeah I I think through the course of a series um even in the games that you lose you know you’re trying to learn from them you know see where you can get better um so we had some success there you know me you know playing off the pitch a little bit more flying around uh rather than you know if I’m in that high ball screen which you know I feel like I am really successful at uh that gives them a chance to really load up pack the paint they got a couple steals in there i had some really dumb turnovers tonight um they’re kind of showing like a soft blitz sometimes a full blitz they’re giving me different looks um so I got to do a better job and just figuring out where I can be better um you know and and in in in that game in the second half when you’re down by so much you know you can choose to you know just take the game for what it is and just be done or you know try to continue to learn different things so um you know I think through the course of the series and already through these first two games I’m learning you know where my spots are where I can be better um you know so we take the take the good and the bad watch film see where you can improve going into the next game just as a quick followup Vince I need to get to DA so we can get out of here um most most teams defensively try to take the three away first they don’t seem to really mind if you shoot threes they’re taking the pain away so how do you what what’s the challenge in when you see a defense that’s kind of unusual in that sense yeah I think you just have to choose you have to make a decision on getting threes your way you know um I think we made I think we made some shots that were kind of on the you know the swing swing you know but we got to do a better job of getting downhill and just playing from the inside out you know um they they are a team like you said who really takes away the paint does a great job of swarming the ball it feels like there’s five guys around you every time you’re in the paint um but we got to do a better job getting threes our way and I felt like in the first quarter we were able to you know turn them over probably a little bit more than they’re accustomed to and we didn’t do a great job of capitalizing on that um again when you’re forcing turnovers like that you should probably be getting more rim twos than just early kick ahead threes and you know that’s that’s me and and and you know that’s where we can be better as a as a whole so um you know again watch the film see where we can get better uh we know that the paint is our emphasis and the paint is our friend the more that we’re able to attack the paint you know usually better things happen for us so it’s just about getting threes your way if you just swing the ball around and take late shot clock threes it’s really difficult and sometimes you’re we’re stuck in that situation you got to make you know make make whatever you can with it but we got to do a better job of not playing so late into the clock and um getting threes our way tyrese Salbertton there and they had four uh shot attempts in the paint like into the second quarter and um man it’s I I know it’s easy for us to sit back here and say “Hey Pascal makes something happen here or you know attack the paint try to see if you can get to the free throw line or try to see if you can finish try to see if you can draw traffic.” and then then pitch and it’s another thing to actually do that and I think uh he illustrated that really well when he said you know it seems like there’s two or three guys cuz there always is this is what the Thunder do they want to try to force you to take three-point shots no you just imagine being Seakkum and you’re what 610 and you try to put the ball on the floor and then you gather and typically put the ball down low i mean you’re going to expose yourself to those guards in their hands and they’ve got quick hands uh Kase Caruso Dort whoever it is going to be able to strip the ball away from you so Seakkum is very aggressive and opportunistic but can’t just go down every possession and you don’t want to be that predictable anyway so um but that I totally agree with with Tyrese i mean the Pacers are better when they get into the paint as opposed to just launching up uh long shots well uh look I unless they continue one of the greatest shooting runs that we have ever seen in postseason play which they have been on over the last two seasons um they’re going to have to score more than 26 points in a paint in a game to not only uh win another game in this series but to even be competitive in any games in the series that it will it will have to change makes me think about every time the Thunder lose why do they allow so many corner threes why do they do that look you have to allow something on the floor and they they concede those or concede is not the right word you live with those rather because you you’re packing the pain and trying to cut it off there and so that’s the that’s the the philosophy behind that defense all right uh Matt uh give us an early guide to game three this a Pacers team that is really good not great on their home floor throughout the playoffs this is where they’ve encountered some of these losses in the series because they’ve actually won a couple of games on the road to begin not one but two series in a row and then they’ve split at home and the series have gone a little bit longer they were good on their home floor against Milwaukee in uh in the first series and obviously played there played well there in the closing stages of the regular season but it’s not like an automatic thing here and if the Thunder play the way that they can play uh they should be fine here in these next couple of games but definitely expect a different uh phase of energy and some performances maybe some from some of their role players role players on at home we we know that that to be true so but if you’re the Thunder the good news is you know through two games even though the result was different you know what you need to do to win everything that you’ve lapsed in in the series has been completely controllable um I’m sure the Pacers will have their own adjustments rick Carile will will have a curveball i can promise you that uh so it’s about taking that in stride and controlling what you can control all right want to thank our great team uh led by Josh Lepin out here everybody uh at Lively Beer Works Tap Room especially Hudson for staying late with us here mike Meller in actually Cisco uh of the greatest quarterbacks to play in the NFL and he played for the Colts and the Broncos pton Manning played in the league for 18 seasons between those two teams the first 14 with Indianapolis winning a Super Bowl and four MVPs on March 18th 2016 the number 18 was retired by the Colts and will never be worn again by any Colts player he set many franchise records with Indie including most passing attempts in a season most touchdown passes for a rookie and many many others after being with the Colts for 14 seasons he went to free agency and then signed with Denver for the final four seasons of his career he would go on to win another MVP in 2012 would advance to the Super Bowl that season but fall short of his second title then he would get one more chance in 2016 in which he would win his second Super Bowl title in his last season in the NFL what a way to go out manning would end his career with a total of two Super Bowls and five MVPs and he’s pretty good in commercials as well he went through many coaches and made each one better and made all his teammates better as well not just the ones he played with but the ones he played against on the field on any given Sunday he will go down as one of the best to play the game and he will definitely go down as one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history for SiriusXM Sports I’m Ryan Payton siriusxm has soccer covered end to from behind the bench to every play on the ice if it’s hockey it’s on SiriusXM NHL Network Radio siriusxm 91 i’m Matt Kern with It Happened in Baseball october 1st 1932 in the fifth inning of game three of the World Series Babe Ruth of the New York Yankees the heart and soul of the franchise strode to the plate facing Charlie Root of the Chicago Cubs the score was knotted up at four runs a piece hearing the cheers from the Chicago faithful Ruth pointed his back towards the centerfield bleachers or was it at Root or was it at the fans rooting against him that debate rages on to this day but one thing is certain after taking two strikes Ruth waloped the ball sending it over 440 ft into center field for his 15th and final career postseason home run the Yankees would go on to win that game 75 and a day later completed the sweep of the Cubs that’s what the record books show what they don’t show is whether or not the so-called cold shot was truly what it has been called for almost a century film from the game failed to shed any definitive light on the matter and Ruth himself gave varying accounts of that game for the rest of his life why let the truth get in the way of a great story most baseball folk in attendance that day doubted the tale what is known is the called shot myth had life breathed into it by overzealous New York sports writers including some who weren’t even at the game over time it became part of baseball lore that the Sultan of SWAT called his own shot that day regardless whether he did so or not most people understandably believe that if anybody could have called their own home run it could only have been the babe charlie Root went to his grave insisting there was no called shot for it happened in baseball I’m Mick Kern siriusxm Fantasy Sports
