NO WAY they actually do this …

We have an Orlando Magic trade proposal alert in a new three-team trade proposed by Atlanta Hawks on si.com. The Orlando Magic would receive Moses Moody and Ge Santos from the Golden State Warriors, but not at the cost of losing two of their big men, Jonathan Isaac and Goa Batad. Now, it’s no secret that the Magic could use some help in the shooting department, especially after ranking last in three-point percentage last season. But would the Magic be willing to part ways with these pieces that have been so essential to the team’s defensive identity? And more importantly, should they? Uh, these are the questions we’re going to ask ourselves here today on Magic Digest. I’m going to break down this proposed trade for you guys. But first, what’s going on, Magic fans? This is your host, Sam Rodriguez. You already know the deal. If you are not subscribed to the channel, if you are part of this 67.5% of nonsubscribers, please do me a favor. stop and hit that subscribe button so I can keep you filled in on all things Orlando Magic. This is going to be such an incredible season for this team, so you’re going to want to stay locked in. Now, today we are going to be breaking down this proposed trade from Atlanta Hawks on si.com. If you’ve been following along and you caught my last video, then you know it was Atlanta Hawks on SI that proposed the trade that would send Caleb Houston to Atlanta and send Dalton Connect to Orlando uh via the Lakers. Now, Caleb Houston ended up signing a one-year deal with the Hawks anyway earlier this week. But I have to admit, I was a little more favorable towards that trade, and I’m going to break down why. Here are the details of the proposed trade. The Atlanta Hawks would receive Goa Patad, a 2027 first round pick via Golden State. Uh Golden State would receive Jonathan Isaac, Jet Howard, and Mo Gay. And Orlando would get Moses Moody, and Ghee Santos. Now, let’s break down this trade from the top, starting with Atlanta. Uh but please drop a comment below and let me know what you think about this proposed trade. So, the Hawks are getting a first round pick from the Warriors, which despite being protected, is obviously still a useful asset. They would also be getting Go Batz, who Magic fans know is a good backup center. We’re going to get his stats up for you uh right here. Uh he had career highs and points per shot attempt last season, and he was in the 86th percentile among bigs on two-point field goal conversions. He also finished in the 90th percentile or higher in block percentage in the last four of six seasons. Shout out to Alex Regla of Silver Screen and Roll for those particular stats. All that being said though, the Hawks would be getting a good rim protect rim protector, excuse me, and relatively efficient score at the rim in Goa. And pairing him with a point guard like Trey Young would obviously benefit him even more. He’s definitely a really nice option to have off the bench behind their already improved front court of Aongu and Porzingis. Much like Orlando, uh Atlanta has not been subtle in their moves this off season. Uh they’re definitely going allin as well in a wide open uh Eastern Conference. Now, moving on to Golden State getting Jonathan Isaac. Um and we’re going to talk more about uh Jonathan Isaac on Magic Digest this week. So again, make sure that you’re subscribed so you can catch my next video on that. But if you’re unaware, Jonathan Isaac has had um a bit of a rough career uh in terms of his injuries. And you can kind of see here how many games he’s played each season, completely missing that 2020 and 2021 season uh with injuries. He suffered a few devastating injuries uh throughout his career. And just to note, he actually played the second most games of his career uh last season. Uh all that to say, when Jonathan Isaac is healthy, he’s quite effective. He’s a great shot blocker. He’s an elite defender. Uh among forwards, he was in the 100th percentile in block percentage, and you can actually see some of his uh more specific defensive uh stats up here from crafted NBA. He was also one of the best offensive rebounders last season across all forwards. Uh there’s been a ton of uncertainty around the Warriors relationship with Jonathan Kaminga. So this could actually be a really good option for them at that four position and be a nice pairing with Draymond Green. Um they already have their offensive weapons in Steph, Jimmy, and Buddy Heield coming off the bench. Um so they don’t have to worry about that there with Jonathan Isaac. But unlike the Magic, unlike the Hawks, the uh the Warriors have been oddly quiet uh this off season so far. So, I know there’s some eyes on them waiting to make a move. Um whether or not this is the move, uh only time will tell. Um but they’d also be getting Mo Gay from Atlanta in this trade. Uh this would only be his third year in the league. Um so, not a ton to go off there, but he did show some defensive potential last season. And then finally, moving on to the Orlando portion of this trade. The big pickup here would be Moses Moody, who was apparently playing through a uh UCL injury for a portion of last season, including the playoffs. And we can also get his stats up here for you guys as well. He averaged 9.8 points and 2.6 rebounds per game while shooting 37.4% from three-point range in 74 games during the regular season. So, in terms of adding more shooting, the Magic would definitely gain that in Moody. Again, the Magic ranked last in three-point percentage last season, but of course, that doesn’t take into account um all of the Magic’s injuries, but again, you would get that in Moody. He would also fit into the Magic’s defensive identity after working very closely with Jerry Stackhouse on the Warriors roster along with some of their other assistant coaches. Uh after the trade to acquire Jimmy Butler, Moody’s 109 deflections were the fourth most in the NBA behind Atlanta’s Dyson Daniels, Sacramento’s Keon Ellis, and the Clippers Chris Dunn. So that’s the additional plus of acquiring Moody. As for Ge Santos, he’s basically in this trade to supplement what’s being lost from Isaac in terms of rebounding, although I don’t think he can really match that at this point. Um but those are the details. We’ll get those up there for you. One more time, comment below with your thoughts on this trade. There’s some good and there’s some bad here. Um, but I would vote no. I’ll focus on the magic here, of course, but in losing both Goa and Isaac, excuse me, um, you’re losing two key pieces to uh, the defensive identity that the Magic uh, takes so much pride in. Uh, both shot blocking and rebounding. Uh, with regards to Goa, I know the Magic resigned Mo Vagner. Uh, so maybe keeping Goa on the roster is a bit excessive to some. Uh, however, Mo Vagner’s coming back from an ACL injury, so you don’t really know what version of Mo you’re getting. So, I would just hold off, maybe wait, see how Mo is performing, uh, and then go from there. And then in terms of Jonathan Isaac, listen, I understand that his injury history is concerning, but again, the Magic gave him that contract contract extension, excuse me. But um so they obviously have a ton of faith in Jonathan Isaac’s ability and when he’s healthy, the proof is sort of in the pudding. Uh again, he’s an elite defender when he’s healthy. So like I said, I vote no to this trade, but I want to know uh what you guys think. Um I also want to know what else you want us to cover here on Magic Digest during this off season. Um as we wait for the regular season to sort of roll around again with the acquisition of Desmond Bane and Taiish Jones. This is going to be a really, really interesting season for the Magic in an Eastern conference that’s completely wide open. Um, so again, comment, subscribe, let us know what you want us to cover, what news you want us to cover. Um, and I will see you guys next time.

  1. Lol. No. You have to think that Mo might not be ready until like Dec or Jan. WCJ always miss games. They need both Goga and JI.

  2. HELL NO, this will destroy the Magic identity. The Magic doesn't need to be that desperate. THEY are fine right now. DON'T be stupid.
