Spurs May Look To Trade De’Aaron Fox
What’s going on everyone? So, a report came from ESPN and it’s one of those anonymous, you know, scouts executives, right? Uh, which I always think are funny because it’s just like like yes, maybe it’s a real report, but anybody could I I could just come on here and be like an anonymous executive pulled me, right? I just I always think the anonymous thing is a little ridiculous. But, nonetheless, there’s a report that came out um that the San Antonio Spurs may look to move off of De’aran Fox. Now, not necessarily this season. I don’t think that they’re going to move off of him this season. I don’t, you know, maybe if Dylan Harper just really just steps on the scene and just skyrockets this season, then maybe at the trade deadline they get off of him because they’re like, “Hey, we don’t want to pay him.” But I think what’ll end up happening is, again, I don’t know. It’s just my guess, but I think they’ll end up giving Darren Fox the extension. There’s talks and reports about them not wanting to give him the full max or not the full years. if you line it up correctly, right? You could line it up to where, you know, his money kind of falls off when other guys like Dylan Harper and stuff are starting to get their money. Um, but I’ve talked about it like this team’s going to get expensive and they’re going to get expensive fast, right? Because Darren Fox and Jeremy Sohan are going to be due new contracts. And then after that, you’re going to have Victor Womenyama who’s going to be new contract. Then after that, it’s Stfan Castle. Then after that, it’s Dylan Harper. Right? So in like the next two, three years, this team could get very expensive. It’s not counting Kell Johnson’s money, Devin Bell’s money, right? So, they’re going to have to make some decisions here in the next year or so. I do think in a lot of ways this season’s going to be kind of a a fill it out year, kind of see which guys are what and how you want to approach, you know, going forward. Um, you know, but they’re not in a rush. They don’t have to go and change anything, right? But the ESPN report was basically that, you know, Dylan Harper has like that monu in him, that that capability of running an offense, being that playmaker, being that scorer, right? That he’s going to essentially make De’arren Fox expendable. Now, look, I’ve talked about that on several occasions that the the landing of Dylan Harper changes kind of the trajectory of this team with De’aran Fox because if Dylan Harper does become the player that you’re looking for him to become, then you’re not going to have the need for De’Aran Fox. So, he becomes a valuable trade ship that you can then go and and land another guy or two, you know, if Giannis becomes available in a year, right? Like, okay, well, now maybe you’re moving to Aaron Fox Plus to go get Giannis or something, right? Like, that could be an option. Just, you know, a name for example sake, right? But, you know, you also want to see Dylan Harper. You don’t want to kind of put all on his plate right out the gate. Uh, and, you know, you want to kind of let him grow and develop unless the plan is just to spend this year being in a development year. If you want this year to be solely a development year and you don’t care about making the playin or the playoffs or whatever, you still might. But, you know, if you’re just kind of like, hey, let’s go. Let’s just trade Fox. Just get off of everything and then just kind of go with the young core and see what they can do this next year or two. Kind of let them expedite their growth and development. Then fine, then trade Darren Fox and go that route. I don’t think anyone would be upset or bothered by that. But I do want to see the Spurs pick a lane eventually, right? You don’t want to kind of have this one foot in one foot out kind of mentality, right? This year they want to win, right? They don’t not necessarily win a championship, but they want to start moving in the direction of being a winning culture and, you know, get into the playin or the playoffs, right? And be one of those top teams that can now maybe, you never know, right? Get the right matchups, go on a run. We just saw Indiana that no one thought was going to be in the NBA finals all of a sudden go on a run. It’s a lot harder in the West than it is the East, but still, right? You never know. you get the right matchup, sudden you look up, you’re in the second round, right? You know, things happen. Dominoes kind of fall your way a little bit. Maybe you’re in the conference finals or something. I mean, we’ve seen teams like like Atlanta a couple seasons ago ended up in the conference finals, right? Dallas a couple seasons ago, not when they went on their finals run. I’m talking about the the first time that they went to the conference finals, right? Like that was a team that people didn’t think was going to go that far, right? You never know, right? This team’s young. This team’s talented. Does it have some holes? Does it have some flaws? Does it have some question marks? of course, but it’s a young team that’s developing, right? You got some key vets in De’Aran Fox who can come in and be a leader, right? You have guys in Harrison Barnes that again I really value. I think uh adds a lot to this team as far as just like the veteran leadership. He’s your most consistent shooter in that regard. Right? So, I do think that there’s a lot of things here that are very positive for the Spurs. Now, obviously, look, Spurs are going to have to make a decision on De’arren Fox because they got to pay him, right? And if D’Arren Fox is like, “Look, I only want the Max in the Max years.” Well, then maybe that kind of forces the Spurs hand to now go and trade him, right? Because again, if if the Spurs are like, “Hey, you know, Dylan Harper might be our guy because your whole thing was when we got you, like Fox, when we got you, you were our guy. We got you because we planned on you being our point guard that you were going to be the guy for now and the future.” And we didn’t know like Spurs don’t have a crystal ball. Spurs didn’t see the future and go like, “Oh, hey, we just ended up with, you know, a a a Dylan Harper in, you know, four months or whatever. Let’s not go trade for Darren Fox.” No. Right. They traded for Dearron Fox because the original plan and intention was that he was going to be the guy holding down the fort at the point guard position alongside Victor Women. Get your all-star level point guard slaughter alongside Victor Womenyama. Now you’re off to the races. Start filling out and building out the roster alongside him. That was the intention. Then they end up landing, like I said, a a uh Dylan Harper and and everything changes. Now, that doesn’t mean it has to change immediately, but still like, you know, it depends on what Darren Fox wants, what he’s willing to work with, right? And you also don’t like what happens if you give him the Max and now you’re limited on the ability to trade him. You got to remember the new CBA changes everything. Teams aren’t just running to go give guys Max contracts, right? And also trade for those guys. So, like Darren Fox, I do think has value, but if he’s making 50 plus million a year, right now teams might go, you know what? Like, hey, I don’t know, right? Like, and I’m not saying I I do think that there would be teams that would take him on because he is an all-star caliber point guard and there are teams that could always use that, but it might it’s going to limit your pool, right? One, there’s already a bunch of teams that already have that guy, but two, right? like how many want a guy that’s making 50 plus million at age 29 or 30 by that point when you’re ready to trade him. You know, it could make things a little complicated for the Spurs. So, the Spurs are really going to have to have a decision. I wouldn’t be surprised either way. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Spurs end up keeping him, right, and give him the max contract and keep him till his contract expires and just kind of figure it out. But I also wouldn’t be surprised if they trade him at some point. I mean, he still hasn’t signed the extension. still hasn’t gotten it yet. So, we’ll got to wait and see how that all kind of plays out and and how that unfolds once um you know, that becomes a thing. So, we we’ll kind of see. But, you know, again, either way, I I I don’t I think the Spurs are in good like this is a good problem to have, right? It’s like, do we go with our young potential superstar point guard or do we go with our current, you know, uh allstar level point guard? Like, it’s it’s, you know, it’s not a bad situation to be in. But, I do think the Spurs will stay patient. And I think the Spurs will kind of let things play out. I I do think, you know, they’ll at least kind of see how this plays out between now and at least the trade deadline. I wouldn’t be shocked if Darren Fox name as we progress into the season starts to become a a point of topic as far as like, you know, being traded, you know, being on the trade market. Um, but again, I wouldn’t be surprised either way. However, I don’t think you should be surprised either way. You know, I see a lot of people that are like, “No, Darren Fox, he’s the guy regardless.” He might be, but again, remember at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter what we think. It doesn’t matter what we want. We might think De’arren Fox and Dylan Harper could be, you know, your back court for the next eight years. But it matters what the Spurs think. And Spurs looking at this as like, hey, we have Dylan Harper at the point, Stefan Castle at the two, Carter Bryant at the three, right? Jeremy Sohan at the four, and Victor Wman at the five. Is that kind of like what they they visualize as their future? If that’s the case, then De’Arren Fox is going to be traded at some point. So, we’ll see. But anyway, as always, this is a discussion. The San Antonio Spurs May Look To Trade De’Aaron Fox based on recent reports out from ESPN. Dylan Harper changed the timeline and trajectory of this Spurs team alongside Victor Wembanyama. Fox was supposed to be the guy but since the Spurs landed Harper its all changed.

They better not
Man, Harper is too young. We havent seen Fox and Wemby for full season yet. Let them run for 2-3 years while the young ones learn from them.
Its a miracle they got Fox for what they gave, better not waste it.
Media is so full of 💩. Stop with media copycat headlines.
Media is owned by The Tribe and they want controversy and distraction.
NO they won't end of story
Fox will sign a "Jalen Brunson" extension and be here for 5 more years or longer.
When players don't get greedy and grasp that they are employees not employers, then the Spurs organization could stay together as a SuperTeam for 15+years. But players must first understand the "just wages" doctrine taught by the true Catholic Church. From '99 to 2014 they won five (5) titles. But with a healthy Wemby they could even win more.
Giannis doesn't want to leave the Bucks. And he won't if their FO continues to snowball him with piecemeal build arounds like Lillard, and now Myles Turner. By the time Giannis WTFU, he'll be 35yo and past his prime.
They need to get rid of fox!
Spurs got younger players with greater potential
