RE-LIVE | FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series Edmonton 2025 | Pool Phase | #3x3Basketball

warming up on the court here of course and we are giving photos. Let us know your message to the crowd. Let us know what you Hello to you all wherever in the world you might be. My name is Bos Rosenal aka the mountain and welcome to Edmonton, Canada for the only stop the women’s series will have in the Americas in 2025. It is the fifth time in six seasons we’ve hosted from Canada’s Festival City. And this time it’s stop number 11 on the year. A lot is at stake here as we head into the late stretch of the year on the women’s series. Who can pick up a win? Who can rise in the ranks? The Shanghai Finals are coming up in just over a month and nothing is set yet. What is set is that we’ll add a new woman stop winner to the list in 2025. None of the teams competing here in the West Edmonton Mall have picked up a W this year. Although there are some highly proven teams in the field. We’ve had six winners so far this year with the Netherlands, Japan, Spain, Azerbaijan, Latvia, and Australia already bringing home victories in one or more events in 2025. Who will join them here from Canada? We’ll know after the action closes tomorrow night. Of course, we’ll be with you all day today and tomorrow to cover all the drama from the north. But before we get into the details, look, we als we got to get you reintroduced to the rules of three X3. Yo, what’s good? My name is Kyle Montgomery, aka the voice of 3×3. And if for some reason you still don’t know the rules of 3×3, it is time to tap in. Class is officially in session. So on our half court, you’ve got two teams of three players with one additional substitute on the bench. Yo, what’s up, sub? Can I check in? In 3×3, even the ball is different. This is the official Wilson right here. Trust me, it’s groovy, baby. This game is pedal to the metal. 10-minute game clocks, just 12 second shot clocks, and a first to 21 scoring format for the win. If a team doesn’t score 21 points, all they have to do is outscore their opponent within 10 minutes. And you know, we keep it straight. In this game, we score by ones and twos. Anything inside the ark is worth one. Anything outside of the ark is worth two. Still got it. And this game is all gas, no brakes. Literally after the opening check ball, play is continuous. Make or miss. Offense turns to defense. Just like that. This 10-minute sprint is just getting started. We’ll see you at the top. We’ll see you at the top. and top is what we’ll get out here in Edmonton, Canada. Not just from the athletes, we got the top of the top here in MC DJ. We got DJ Lass, of course, our Olympic DJ, EMC Noah Lazarus, Olympic MC as well. Now, back to the teams. We got some hopefuls for the win here and they include Olympic gold medalist Germany. They bring a whole new look to 2025 and a different team to work around. Uh, no longer Sonia Graner, no longer Marie Reich. We’ll see some new names. Uh, we got the World Cup bronze medal winners here in 2025. That’s home team Canada and Team Canada has won the Women’s Series event the last two years. So, they got the winning pedigree out here. Um, but look, none of the top 15 teams in the women’s series standings right now as it stands make an appearance. There there’s MC Noah Lesar. talked about him, Olympic MC, but uh none of the top 15 teams make an appearance. Of course, that that home team Canada usually a main stay in the top 15. Look at DJ Lass. There is the Olympic DJ providing the sounds for the audience and for us again. Canada. They come in the heavy favorites after picking up the stop wins in 24 and 23. As mentioned, this is the fifth time in six seasons we’ve hosted from Edmonton, dating all the way back to 2019. These are your pools. We got some interesting squads. Kolina from Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico themselves are here as well. The Netherlands bring their under 25 squad. We got a couple of three XBA teams from Seattle, Spokane. Now, we mentioned the gold medalists in Germany. 12 hopefuls take the court here today and pool play will continue till right around 8:15, 8:30 or 9:15, 9:30 local time. Then we’ll be down to eight teams where the quarterfinals will kick off tomorrow 6:30 p.m. Be here for that. And then tomorrow, right around 1000 p.m. local time, we’ll crown a winner. We got two teams on deck. Start us off though, it’s Chile out first. And Chile, they played in some events this year, but they’ve lost a big piece. Auma’s out first. Or clapping out with her teammates coming in for her second event of the year. But no, the Omar Morrison and No Offer this year this time around for Chile. That’s their leading scoreer that’s not with them. 7.2 points per game. There’s Fernando Ova. She’s going to have to pick up the slack there in the scoring in the scoring categories. He’s at 3.6 points uh per game on the year. She’s shown the ability to go off and uh I’m sure Chile is going to lean on her offense a lot. Last but not least, Ramirez Cordon straight from the Nations Leagues into her first ever women’s series event. She plays second in the Americas with Chile this year. So, Chile out first and again We’ve seen them a couple of times already this year. Same can’t be said for Toronto. Second event and they they played in Vienna but didn’t make it out of the qualifying draw. So, a bit of an unknown here. Belmore out first. She’s joined by Chad Wicker. The the two returning players from that Vienna Women’s Series stop fe uh uh feature joined by two new players here. Gibb, Delaney Gibb, and Wallak round out the squad. And again, this squad a bit of an unknown. Haven’t seen much from them this year. Second team from Canada, of course. And we’ll see what they can do against a Chile squad that that has been around for quite some time. Not the older squad, but a a more seasoned squad that is. Shout out Julia Chadwick, by the way, for playing at the uh university. I used to play at, Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh. There you go. She was there for a year. Sonia Maldonado and Ashley Good, the referees in this one. As we get ready to get this stop underway, we’ll start you off with pool D action. And we’ll go DCBA in that order all day long before we uh close as I mentioned at 9:15 to 9:30 local time. Conditions of course to no effect here. I could tell you the weather, but we’re indoors. West Edmonton Mall. Come check out the action if you’re close. I do believe we’ve already wrapped up a tournament here today. A uh a Quest event. Not sure who won that. I have to I have to go check that out. But Edmonton, beautiful city. Had the pleasure to of to visiting and I’m sure these teams are enjoying their stay. Curious to see who can pick up the scoring for both squads. Again, we don’t have a lot of stats on this Toronto team, but all proven players at the uh collegiate level. Gibb was a uh player at BYU. Again, Chadwick has mentioned Robert Morris, Queens University. Terara Wallik, a Washington State Cougar, led the entire WCC with 66 blocks. So, if we we got some stats to go on, they’re just not three extreme stats. We are ready to get sprinting though. This first 10-minute sprint from Edmonton underway as Toronto out first. Pick and roll action and an easy finish underneath. Wallak with the first score and Toronto’s on the board. Chile. Can they answer? Ova moving behind the screen. Ova with some space. Pulls up from deep and OA drains the two ball. Punch for punch. These teams start out very sharp. Toronto a miss. Flip shot from Ova’s missed. Again, this team’s going to lean heavy on her offense. Morrison not with the squad. She’s usually the leading bucket getter at 7.2 points per game. That’s a huge, huge gap to fill. Quite literally, too. A minute in, Chile is out front two to one. Jul is also adjusting to life with a less a little less size. Morrison usually good around the basket towering over opponents, grabbing rebounds left and right. Now they’re going to have to rebound as a unit, as a team. I do believe the scoreboard is being fixed right now. 3.7 on the shot clock here for Toronto. Have to get a quick shot off. Pull up from deep is off the mark. Rebound. Ova. Swings the ball around. Amada. Back to Ova. Ova from the logo. Deep shot. Uh-uh. This time she opts for a drive. Gets all the way to the basket. The flip shot’s good. Chile is out in front after a minute. Three to one. Quick transition. Obay wide open for that one. Chile’s blitzing Toronto here early. Gib off the mark. Here’s Aumada. Tries a shot. Oh there to pick up the slack. 5-1 Chile and Toronto looking a little bit rattled here early missing a couple of wide open layups. Ball sticks with Chile and we’re close to two minutes in. It’s a 5-1 lead and again we’ve seen some easy misses from Toronto. Some wide open lays not laid. Double high post action now for Chile. They get a wideopen look from the outside. Oh, hey D. Just as the buzzer went off. Seven to one. Make that seven to two. T do D do D do D do D do D do D do D do D do D do DOT get it closer. Pick and roll action. Surgical down to Hoya as well. Ramirez with the handles. Gibb now looking for an option. Kicks it out. Wallik off the mark. There’s Ramirez again. And as mentioned, fresh from the Nations League, second in the Americas with Chile. First ever women’s series event. Gets a rebound here. shares with Oh, on the drive. A kick out. Auma. There’s three on the shot clock. Ramir as well. Slightly undershot. on the floor. Post to Papion for a VA is snuffed out. Transition now for Toronto. Can they find some of that footing that they need to stick in this game? Wallak. Wallak on the move. Drive is stopped. turns around, drains the bucket. 84 game now. Obay uses her speed. Ova by everyone by is off the off the front of the rim. Back to Ova who’s now the main creative option for this squad. Aumatada can’t control the rebound. Steps out of bounds. And that’s gotten us to our first TV timeout. A 9 to4 lead for Chile who came out and blitzed Toronto early. Toronto looked out of source. They they’ve regained a little bit of composure here in the last minute or so. But it’s the pick and roll action for Chile that’s really making uh hurting Toronto so far in the game. Easy passes down low for layups. Ova helps if she plays like this. Steps back and drains the long range bucket. And then the quick transition down to Ova again who as mentioned her scoring is going to have to carry this team with no Morrison on the squad for this stop. So far it has. Check ball to Ronaldo Federer from Delmore. And now a foul. First in the game gets a screen from Ova. Ova this time to the basket. Mishandles the rock three. Can’t get that two ball to go down. That rebound is too late. Shot clock violation. So a defensive stop here for Toronto who again trying to get their bearings are playing at home or at least in their home country. Quick take by Bmore. Another layup missed. Gibb there and she’s got her back. Cleans up the mess. That score of course should be rewarded to Toronto. It was rewarded to Chile. Nine to five. Guys down low. Ramirez is fouled. Here is to the strike and again her first ever ever women’s series event. Cannot connect and that’s snuffed out. But Aumada sends it back down to the blocker. Ramirez looking for Oha. There’s no pass there. So Auma is forced to take that shot. Front iron. No bucket on that. Take position to white. Ball screen action. Oh, Toronto doing the uh doing the stealing, but another easy layup missed. And that that’s been the story of the game. Wallak. No, but all these easy looks under the basket for Toronto. If they keep missing those, that’s going to start counting up. Auma with the footwork and the turn around. Gibb answer for Toronto there. They make the layup this time. It’s Chadwick with the make. Step back. Oh. Well, can’t have them all. Of course. Chile still with a four-point lead as we’ve passed the halfway mark in this one. Toronto working on some high post pick and roll action with Wallock. That was smooth. 10 to seven. Ova looking for space. Ova steps back, slings up a two ball off the mark. Gotten some critical stops here. Can they get a bucket? That’d be crucial here. Belmore. No, but a whistle on the play. And that will send Belmore to the strike. Jade Belmore, 23 years old, and it’s a onep possession game after that. And a crucial block here by Gibb. So Chile, they were up by six earlier in this game, but as we’ve gotten into our second TV timeout here, it’s only a two-point game against Toronto, who’ve scrapped and clawed themselves back into this one. Great effort from Delaney Gibb on that last play. The 19-year-old sends that out of bounds with a block. Look at the misdirection here. This is another block earlier in the game. Aumada got her hands on that and that has been the story of the game for Toronto who’ve missed at least three easy ones under the basket. Obay has been a little bit quiet the last few minutes. Obay speeds to the rack. Lefty layups missed. Toronto though turn it over on the kickout. High post action now. Ova gets a screen. Two-1 game with Ramirez. Tries to connect with Ramirez, but that pass. Just a little bit too much on it. 340 left. Chile still holding on to that two-point lead. Give and go action with Gibb. Gibb though can’t squeeze a layup. Ramirez down to Ova. Ova is open. Now Chile starting to miss some layups as well. So both teams struggling to find easy scoring opportunities here. Wall gets it back. No one home but Wallock. Another miss. Here’s Chadwick. No. And then a whistle as Chatwick couldn’t connect on that bucket. Possession back to Chile. Actually, maybe not. It is not. It is Toronto possession here. Belmore to Wallup. Belmore behind a screen. A good look for Belmore. She ties the game up at 10. Under three minutes in this first 10-minute sprint from Edmonton. Ova. Aumada catches it. No room for a shot. A difficult difficult look there for Auma. Now Chadwick’s open. Chadwick speeds to the rack. Ova gets a hand on it. This game see more blocks than Minecraft so far. Lot of these shots have been uh deterred. Gibbs the floaty. Wow. Just wow. 11 to 10. Gibbs with the uh with the heave there at the end of the shot clock. It just goes down. Ova gets to the wreck. Another mis hit. Looks like it might be in, but referees are not going to count that score. Possibly a shot clock violation there. Sierra Berdick in the background. Of course, the longtime 3×3 legend Cberta played with a new look team in Jakarta just last week and now present in Edmonton. That jet lag is all solved. Referees are going to take a look at this one and try to see if that actually touched the rim or not. Important call here with 218 left in the game. That score will count. 11-11 is what the scoreboard says now. Doesn’t mean Toronto will have possession, but Chile finished up that play with the bucket. High post look here. Belmore wide open. Easy cut, easy lay. Beautiful play design there by Toronto. The Canadians up by one. Ova with the sharp pass. and snuffed out Chad Wicker Mits on that. Belmore with the quick transition and Toronto. They are loose. They’ve unleashed their offense here in the last minute or so. Another stop. Gibb this time. Chadwick with the board. A foul on the play. So T dot now hold a two-point lead after being down six. It was seven to one as you might remember and a 12-4 run by the ladies in red. Wall make that a 13-4 run. Chile left with no answers so far. Ramirez. Nuh-uh. Oh, but a whistle on the play. Too much physical contact there. Catalina Ramirez on strike. Chile back within one possession. Belmore. Nuhuh. Ova got her hands on it. Ovay with the rock screen and roll action down to Au Mada. 1413 Bell Moore off the mark. Just over a minute left to go in this one and it is a nailbiter so far. It was Chile who raced out to a lead early. Then Toronto came all the way back. Now it’s Chile trying to chase down the ladies in the red uniforms. Oba behind the screen. Oaya. Good pass, but Toronto got a hand or a leg on there. Will take a seat. Ends up a turnover. Chadwick. Uhoh. No Wi-Fi connection was out. But Toronto get it right back. Bellmore. No. It ends up in Chadwick’s hands and Toronto’s back up by two. 40 seconds to go in the first 10-minute sprint from Edmonton. Who’s going to pick up a victory here? Ramirez. No. 3 seconds on the shot clock. Somebody has to take a shot here. That That was a shot, but it was outside of the 12 seconds there. Possession over to Toronto with less than 30 seconds to go in this game. 1513 lead for the Canadian ladies and a timeout on the floor. Look at Chadwick here with another one of those rejections. Take that back to Chile with you. Uh, denied Belmore. Great block. 6 seconds to go. Chile. They off the foul. They stop the clock. But they’re only at three fouls. Make this four. So they’ll just give Toronto to rock back up top. And they’re going to have to foul a couple times here by eight. That’s foul number five. Clock is set to it seems like 4.7 seconds with Toronto holding on to that two-point lead. Chile’s at five fouls. Their strategy is going to have to be to put Toronto on strike to force a couple of missed free throws and then try to get a shot up. Another foul. Clock down to 2.1. That’s foul number six. So they they need one more. Put Wallock on the line. Ova quick foul. Wallock’s on the strike for two fouls. Free throws. I mean with 1.4 seconds left. Wallak could ice the game here. But on in case of two misses, Chile will try to get a shot up from two. Not a lot of time left though. Wall again could ice the game here. First one is clear as daylight. So this game looks to be in the bag for Toronto. Second free throw off the mark. Toronto get the ball back and that will do it. Toronto with a valiant effort here. They started the game out very slow down seven to one, but they came all the way back to pick up a victory. That is their first victory. Actually, no, second victory of 2025 on the women’s series. First one in the main draw. They take down Chile 16-13 and start off their campaign and pull these strong. Chile couldn’t find any consistent offense after those first few minutes. So, let’s see how they do in their uh turnaround game. We’ll get back to you with that. Of course, y’all enjoy the highlights from this game as we get ready to head on over to pool C. Do that in just a few minutes. We see the Netherlands under 25 and Great Britain. Heat. Heat. Non-stop action here from Edmonton all day long. We will get our first look here at pool C action with the 13th Netherlands under 25 out first. It is not been their year to say the least. This is of course the uh second squad from the Netherlands with their first team picking up a couple winners victories already been through this under 125 squad. Best results so far. Fifth in Amsterdam. They didn’t make it out of the pool in their last two events. Marseilles and Orliance 11th and ninth for Kiki Flur and company. This is a team with a lot of talent that has proven themselves at the youth levels of Greens Creek. But uh again, not getting out of the pool is not really the standard they want to set this year. There’s guys who is one of the driving forces in this offense. Five points per game for her. The main weapon though number five there geeky flu joined by Lisk and Joey Sler as well Florida in her comeback here from injuries at 6.7 points per 32% from range on the year facing off with the uh Great Britain squad that didn’t make it out of the qualifying draw last made it out of the qualifying draw I apologize last week in Sunai Azarbaijan with wins over Takasaki Madagascar then lost two in the pool to Latia and CS Robbie Bucharest. Out some players Ashb and Jump are the holdovers. They’re joined by Green, a a long-standing 3×3 in Great Britain. Been in second Commonwealth Games in 22 and member of the team that played the Europe Cup of 21. It’s her first 3×3 action since 22. They’re also joined by Rickers. They part of the Drake. team that qualified to the Europe Cup is Revina Rick. This Great Britain team though a again a bit of an unknown to me. Those feet how they fare against the uh longest standing three three extreers from the Netherlands and especially the inside force that is Zoe Slaughter. She’s got all the size and the skills. It hasn’t been her year just yet. Three points per game. still kind of finding her way in this new team around this new offense. This look good. Second ever event on this squad as well. So, so still some chemistry to solve there for the Dutch. The Battle of the North Sea in the north of Canada. Not all the way north, of course. Canada in general could be considered the North. Anyway, European teams competing out here in pool C. Last team in that pool, of course, Puerto Rico. But first, these two teams and jump out to Rickards. Rickards on the move past Flur to Rickers. No, but too much physical contact from Flur. So a whistle on the play. Shout out by the way to Great Britain. really trying to make something out of bridge three here with again their women’s team qualifying to the Europe Cup of course players stepping on to the men’s pro circuit and women’s pro circuit as well that away six seconds on the shot clock for Well, Green over Zoey GB out to a twozip lead here from Kston to the basket. Runs into Green. Good hands. Stripped and back to Ray Britain. Green open but can’t handle the Wilson out of bounds. Screening action get ice under the basket though, but good hands. Screening action. Jump and Rickards jump on the move. Looking to move on Flur and jump. Mid-range jumper. Nuh-uh. four to the Netherlands and a quick swing all the way to the basket with the scoop. That one’s on the board after a little over a minute. Florida tries to force a jump ball situation. Ends up a Dutch foul. have been prone to foul a little bit too much this year with this lineup. Rickards steps back. Midi pullup is good. Got to the block. Zoe to Flur and Nate. Good two-point shooter, but this one couldn’t find the bottom of the net. third had a 32% clip from range this year and a comeback year for her after some injury issues at Lingard for quite some time. Hash no Rickers with the board. Rickers down to Green. Zoe breaks up the play and the Dutch they get some transition action there. Great. Use a foul to stop it. Ko with the hesitation by everyone all by herself at the basket. Jump from Ranch off the mark. The rebound. Ashby fighting scrapping it. Ashby 24y old team a two-point lead. There is another one of those beautiful surgical passes from the Netherlands. 4-3 game jump. Lot of mid-range pull-ups here from Great Britain. Forget the guard from Kristen who’s by herself and drains the layup. We are tied at four. Great Britain will use A back door cut. Ashby fouled in the process. First 12 for GB down to the block. There’s Green Rickards. Oh, fouled. See this you’ll see the Dutch do this a lot philosophy three philosophy for the Dutch teams both the Dutch teams of the Netherlands and this Netherlands under25 squad has been to try to find the mismatches behind post up and get a clean game going from one sprinkle in some twos as well we’ll see and Zoe Sler Got to go and hook the smaller GB players under the basket. Now those smaller players, they they got some game though. Records. The midi pullup a one-point lead. Rickards on the move right to left. Rickards no good. Breaks up the play. Now it’s Zoe and jump. Doesn’t want any part of that post up. Fouls are on the spot. So GB expending fouls here. Stop the Netherlands from from using their size which are one of the taller squads in the field. There’s Rickards again. No space. There’s Green’s open though. And the and one for Green. Jeredine Green takes the contact and finishes up the play with a layup. Five to five score. Free throw coming up for the British. Again, a member of Great Britain squads in the past. Had played 3×3 in in a couple of years here. Throw is no good. Oh, she got GPS accuracy on that pass. Zoe with the finish. But that is a beautiful lob pass right on the money. The Dutch finish up the play, pick up another lead. Green drives baseline, loses it out of bounds. 6 left on the shot clock. They took a long time to develop and Britain get little to nothing out of it. Need to take a quick shot here and jump. Snuffed out. Shot clock violation. Back on over to the Dutch. Double high post. Look going to the basket again. Another foul on Great Britain. This time a different play. Fun around the screen. Foul on the floor. GB running into a couple of quick fouls here. Getting into five total if you haven’t followed a lot of three. That is getting dangerously close to that bonus which is at seven fouls. That’s where fouls really start counting. Form though speeds to the rack and is fouled yet again. So Great Britain put themselves right at that bonus. Again, starting at seven fouls every defensive foul. Two free throws for the team that’s being fouled. This case, just one free throw from B. He’s a member of the under 23 squad the last few years. Still only 22 years of age. Stop and go for jump. He is sticking with this Dutch squad here. Another mismatch from Kristen against Rickards. Turns into some action off the glass. Rickards and GB answer. There’s a whistle. Who’s that foul on? That is number seven on Great Britain. No free throws coming up as it was an offensive foul on the screening action. The first 12 for the Netherlands and that foul trouble for Great Britain starting to mound up. Florida easy money beautiful play design, easy look and a finish for the Orange Lions. Ashby, no. Blows the layup. It’s always open. They get it to under the basket. That is a foul on the floor. This is what I was talking about. Eighth foul, Great Britain. Two free throws coming up for Zoe Slaughter. Zoe, of course, as some of you might remember, MVP of the under 23 World Cup in 2023. Gold medal for the Dutch there. Fa also a part of that team and actually Kiki also a part of that team. That’s where her injury issues started. She got hurt in both in pool play. team had to do without her. They played with three and they end up picking up a gold back of a a wonderful tournament by Zoe Slucker. Anyway, that’s a that’s a couple years ago. These ladies have uh somewhat graduated the youth system, although some of them might still feature every now and then. Florida away from downtown Edmonton 136. Now the Dutch have really blown the doors off this game. That another foul on Great Britain. It is. That is nine. So we talked about the bonus. There’s also a double bonus in case you didn’t know. That’s at 10 fouls. Defensive fouls at that point mean two free throws as well as possession coming up. Zoe with the miss. 4 minutes and 36 left to go. Great Britain looking at a big deficit in the foul situation. Not in their favor at all. Rickards saves it in bounds, but saves it to the wrong team. Cook loses it out of bounds. But the Netherlands in the last couple of minutes taking over this game and the British foul situation is not helping at all. Ohio post looking out for them. Can they get a score jumps? Ash B with the miss. Good defense on the Netherlands. Not against Zoe Slaughter. Open under the basket, but an offensive foul. She extended her off arm on that seal. Fifth on the Netherlands. Rickards flips it back to Green. Green on the move. Green the shimmy shake and Rickards cleans up. Let’s have a point for the British. Florida working a screening action. Falls away. Rickards look like she might have gotten away with a push there. breeze though think nothing of it and that will get us to our second TV timeout with the Netherlands winning the battle of the North Sea for now 13-7 lead foul situation in their favor as well they’ve done it on the back of some surgical play a lot of mismatches hunted they try to feature their college players and they try to hunt Samantha Ashb and Cavina Rickards who are slightly unsized. He’s compared to Fler K and even Vrum. Dutch in possession here. Fresh 12. We go with that double high post look again, but deflection on the bridge. 10 seconds left to go on the shot clock. Slaughter is open. Pass. Don’t get there. Chen down to Slaughter. This time the play is finished but not with a layup but a miss chases down to Wilson. It’s out of bounds. Geeky flirt the lefty drive and the pull up for two. are rolling here in this game with three minutes left to go. Can GB come back and find some offense? It’s been a lot of mid-range shots for them. A lot of one-on-one individual creation. Flora Slaughter who can pull up for two as well. Back eye. GB has struggled creating consistent offense here. So, a lot of Rickards 101’s green 101’s jump 101’s ending in mid-range shots. Rick three has become a game of uh I’m not going to say advanced metrics just metrics in general that’ll help Ashby but the Rick 3 has become a game of layups and twos. Gilk that’s one of those twos bounces off the rim. Possession over to the team in the blue uniforms. This mid-range shot is actually good. Back down to a five-point game. 230 on the clock. Pass Rickards. Spins and drains the lay. Rickards. Can she answer? She gets a screen of her own. Passes it into Green, but it’s broken up. tries them again down to body shot LER first one’s a miss second one’s a make rebounds for the Netherlands there’s out of bounds Now GB possession. Ashby clear look. No one home. Still a six-point lead to the Netherlands. Florida throws to clear, but then a great pass down low. Easy cut. Ashby on offense now. Fade no good. Keep on the floor. Ashby finishes up the play. This much of a deficit though. GB is going to have to start shooting some twos. So far they have not. From Kston though lines up a long range shot. Foul by the Netherlands. Take foul by Flur who wanted to stop the clock. 67 seconds left to go. A timeout on the floor. The Dutch in control in this one. 18-2. Again, it’s been their their surgical play. GB has had to lay off the physicality here in the last few minutes due the foul situation and it’s worked out in favor of the Orange Lions. Chemistry on the Dutch side looking pretty good. Cross off screen action for Rickards to get it to jump. Jump working in space. Jump with the separation jump. Jump conclusions. Flo lefty layup. He points the Netherlands to close out the game with a two here. Rickards on the move and tries to attack the taller Coke and that ends up out of bounds. Will take a seat. And now a travel on the check. That is a point of emphasis from the referees this year. Under 40 seconds and the Dutch, they got game ball in their hands. A two ball will stop this 10-minute grin. Florida tries just that to the left. No good. Off the mark. Now Ashby tries from the safe spot. She does connect. This ain’t over yet. Florida almost loses a rock. That’s a jump ball situation. It’s exactly what Great Britain needed. Of course, they’re looking at a five-point deficit, but they stop the clock here. And in case of a jump ball, the defense is rewarded with possession. That is the seventh foul on Chile on the box out. Two free throws coming up for France. Foul situation clearly in their favor. He needed to beat a 29year-old on the strike. misses the first beat. A member of the Europe Cup squad for France last year that won a silver medal. Nails the second one. One possession lead, two balls missed. Rebound Chile though. Six on the shot clock. Oh midi pull up. Different shot. and rebound. Hockey contested. Two minutes to go. France with a narrow lead. Wimmanyama. Difficult shot for Wimyama. Obay. with a great defense. Ova tries it again against Jacund and squeezes through the scoop shot. Jundady right the left cross. That took too long. Shot clock violation. Chile back in possession. As mentioned they need a win. They are in position to get that. A timeout called. That is extra rest for France. Chile might have called that timeout, but they’re giving the French ladies some oxygen because they are tired. Playing with three. Might have to keep your foot in the gas pedal anyways. I’m not out there on the court. Chile is. They get to make this choice. A minute 32 to go. Foul situation favors the French. Point situation favors the French only slightly, though. Crowd situations feeds fe favors neither. They’re just happy to be there enjoying the show. Double high post. Look here for Chile. Good hands though by Jay Kundady. Deflection leaves Chile with less than a full shot clock to work with. That’s what the referees are trying to correct here. Put that down to 7 seconds. Actually, never mind. 10 on the screen action. Ova not open. Aumar has to create something here. Ramirez to the basket. Ramirez keeps one on her shoulder. Misses the layup. Now when’s open under the basket, a travel on Milan Pi. Turnover on the French. And Chile get another another shot at this with a minute 10 to go. Ramirez into J Kundad. That’s another tie. 17-7. There’s Jake Mundady taking it herself. Breaks that tie right away. Ova don’t want her to shoot. They force her to drive. Ova sent back. I’m not sure what hurt more Jake’s hand or oray’s feelings after that take. Deep shot. Ohas missed. France control the rock. Mapi. Mapi by herself by everyone but misses the layup. Ramirez. I don’t think that’s cleared. That is not cleared at all. Turnover for Chile at an inopportune time. We are under 30 seconds. They had possession facing a deficit, facing elimination from the tournament. They are too hasty with it. Now it’s a timeout on France. So more O2 going into that last 28 second stretch and they hang on to this lead. in Chile is extremely young Chile squad by the way. All players under 23 years of age going to keep the French in their sights possession to blue first. Jundare they try to get it to Mili. Mili patient with it. A two-point lead now for France. Chile need a bucket. They get it to their scorer. Ova. Oay behind the screen. Flips it inside. Au Mada scores. Under 10 seconds though. Chile. They need a stop. They can’t get it. They need a final shot to go down here from two. Ova with some space. Out of bounds or a travel. referees blow their whistle and blow away the hopes for Chile as France will get possession with.7 seconds and that is all she wrote. The French pick up a gutsy victory here over a very good Chile but not enough. So, three ladies for France. Lebla beat Chile 20-8. That is the last we’ll see of the Chileian squad after a good but not good enough effort here in Edmonton. Your final score again 20-8 in favor of France. Take one last look at Chile. Of course, we’ll see them in the highlights, but they are done. They are out. They are eliminated. It’s between France and Toronto now who comes out of pool D first. Enjoy the highlights as we will get ready for the next game on that. That in just a few minutes will be the Netherlands under 25 and Puerto Rico in a rematch of the Amsterdam quarterfinals. We’re right back. What’s that? Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. Black. Coming up next, we got team Back in the West Edmonton Mall for Pool C action, the Dutch. That one’s under 25. A 19 of 14 victory over Great Britain. It’s Geeky Flur out first. She hit two twos. The only two twos the Dutch made her way to five points. joined by Lisk who was physical under the basket. There’s Zoe Slaughter. Five points, four boards. Efficient from inside the arc. Missed both of her cues and looking from outlast. She led the team in scoring at seven points. Also grabbed five rebounds. Didn’t miss from inside the ark. The Netherlands looked surgical in that first game, that win over Great Britain, but they’re facing some uh competition that cost them some past. Puerto Rico. First game in action for them. They played in the Jakarta stop just last week. Stuck in the qualifying draw there. Couldn’t get out. flew all the way across the world here to Canada to play in the Edmonton stop. Do they even know what day it is today? The main question. But look, these two teams face each other at the Amsterdam stop way earlier this year where Puerto Rico put their best result out so far. Fourth for them and they beat the Netherlands under 25 in the quarterfinals. A a feisty display of of great physicality. Gonzalez, Melendez, Torres, and Verini are the four players that have taken a trip around the world to be here. Can they do it again against the Dutch is the question? They give up some size, but they got a very proven scorer in Ashley Torres on the squad. Pores who was leading them at 6.7 or 6.3 points per on the year 30% from range and oddly 24% of her shots made from inside the arc though know what they have to do let her drive she might miss a few though can really go off had some highscoring games in 2025 even last week in that qualifying draw in Jakarta. Eight points against the uh Romanian team. Not enough to get them in the get them into the main draw though. Some extra rest before this Edmonton stop. One of two Puerto Rico teams out here with Karolina also present. And let’s see if the Netherlands can get some get back or if Puerto Rico can continue to streak over to Dutch. It’s Torres to start him off. Ball screen action. Gonzalez on the move. Hangs. Shot doesn’t go down. Little wide open from range. Don’t let that woman shoot you. very capable sniper. Two zip Netherlands. There’s Torres. Working on those percentages inside the arc again. Blocked twice, but found Melinda somehow. I’m confused. How’d you get the pass there? The Dutch though continued with an inside score. Midi pull up money. Now Zoe’s open for a miss from range. It’s out of bounds possession. Looks to remain with the Dutch. Actually both teams a bit confused here. Netherlands ball fresh 12 double high post. Look, Flocker squeezes through a pass to Cox from Chrysum is wide open. Two balls down yet again. The Netherlands race out to an early lead just like we saw in their first game. Drops the pass off and Torres is sent back. Flecker fouled on the possession there. double team from Puerto Rico and Zoe Slaughter who don’t want tallest player on the floor to get going. Go into Varini off the mark. Rebound Puerto Rico Melendez. Melendez hangs. The Dutch are way way taller and they deflect almost every look that Puerto Rico gets under the basket and then get an easy score down there. Slaughter with possession on Melendez. This helps. Gonzalez easy lay. Offensive foul in the Netherlands. Gonzalez hit on that possession by Kulk. Now Gonzalez opts to take it herself. That layup missed again. Shooting percentages inside the arc for Puerto Rico so far uh are abysmal. And the Dutch have a 73 lead as a result. They are finishing at a high clip. Gonzalez, no. driving like the fairway. Here we go. Not a lot of defense under that basket. And the Dutch come out more furious than Don Torredto with an 8-3 lead. Not seen or heard from Torres outside of a missed layup. Gonzalez taking the brunt of the shots. Most of them have ended up a missing and this is the result every single time the Dutch keep going to the post. So that strategy for the Netherlands is paying off as they utilize their size and physicality under the basket and six-point lead here. We’ve been playing less than three minutes. Porz go off in a hurry. They’re going to need some of that offense from Heroke. Good positioning. The foul bucket does not count. So foul on the floor. Second foul, Puerto Rico. Ler with another one of those passes. She’s becoming more of an offensive hub. Vera Reini D. No space for a shot. It’s Melendez from the mid-range and the rebound’s cleaned up by Flur. Go outside shot that almost put a dent in the backboard. Quick action for Puerto Rico to get to a look, but again the shot is just not falling. 10 to three. first TV timeout and it’s been the Dutch dominance here under the basket. The Buddha are stuck in first gear. I’m sure they are still hurting from that trip from Indonesia to Puerto Rico, then out to Canada. And look at the Dutch action that’s working. Flur open for a long range shot. Two up, two down. The passing from Zoe Slaughter and Lisk to get another two from Frankston. Now Torres open under the basket. High percentage look goes down. Florida. And Puerto Rico’s dialed up the defense here a little bit. Bodies are flying everywhere. We believe that’s a Dutch foul. Hustle play there for Melendez. And Dutch have to foul. get that and take it somewhere else. Torres tries the layup from Kryson just smacks it out of bounds. That is a volleyball spike and the size for the Netherlands a real problem for Puerto Rico right now. Not utilizing their speed. They’re trying to make it a battle of physicality. I don’t know what that was. That that looked like a travel, but Melendez gets away with it. Side hops on to check. So float game and then another foul on Netherlands. Fifth foul. Getting closer and closer to that bonus. Seven fouls is where the trouble starts. Inverse pick and roll. Gonzalez and Torres. Gonzalez loses to Wilson. Somehow stays in possession and drains the faty. I know girls get phased like that on the other end. Nuh-uh. Slo there. Triple rebound and no make. Physicality in the game is getting turned up. Gonzalez working across. No, Zoe. And now it seems like the Dutch are a little bit rushed as we’ve hit the halfway mark in the game here. They started out very surgical, but now they’re taking some quick shots and missing a bunch of them. Ball screen action for Torres. Ends up on the front of the ring. Flu. No connection on the pass there. That is out of bounds. That leaves the Dutch 7 seconds on the shot clock to work with. Kiki Fluto will take the check. Florida with four key assists in that victory over Great Britain. pick and roll action with her was working all game long. Verini now an offensive foul. Melendez, that shot won’t count. Third foul on the PR. Puerto Rico go from the corner. Here it’s Florida front rim. Rebound ends up with Melendez. Ask for a screen. Melendez. Melendez working the footwork. Steps, steps, steps and steps through but nothing at the end of it. Cook with a quick response from two. No. Slaughter bigger, stronger. Finishes. Now has to guard Torres though. Torres with the speed. Dores no space for a shot. Good defense by Slother. That is a double dribble and the Dutch clamp down on defense to get a stop here and get to the second TV timeout of the game. Has not been pretty. It’s been messy. There’s been some turnovers. There’s been some physicality. There’s been some fouls. Dutch though hold a six-point lead. mainly backed by strong play early. Again, that surgical play, the surgical style of the Dutch play with a lot of mismatches, a lot of one-on-one attacks into those mismatches. Ball screen action if that don’t work. And then some shots from Kiki Flur. They get from Kum here. Slaughter comes in with a two ball and a whistle on the floor. Judging by the look on Torres’s face, I’m I’m pretty sure that’s a Puerto Rican foul with the spin cycle. Push shots off the mark and a foul on the rebound. That is the fifth on Puerto Rico who are now just racking him up in succession here. Melendez charges into Flur who well be fair here does a great job at selling that contact. Flur from the deep end. Gonzalez trying to work the same spot. That is off the mark as well. Melendez just quicker to the rock on the box out and it’s a two-possession game. Well, not quite. Three possession game. Slaughter though. Deterred from scoring. Sixth foul on Puerto Rico. Melendez out of position there. Slaughter’s been on the boards all game long. So the Dutch of course game plan after that loss in Amsterdam where there was maybe nerves getting to them playing at home quarterfinals but also Puerto Rico the more physical team in that matchup. Now it’s the Dutch that that try to impose their physicality on the Puerto Ricans. So far it’s definitely paying off. Crafty move by Melendez, but no nothing at the end of it. Transition from the Dutch Frank on the move. Spins tripped up and a turnover on Puerto Rico who couldn’t find the open player. Back to the Orange Lines. Florida separation had two balls down and a huge lead now for the Netherlands. Dor has not gotten a lot of luck. looks from two, but that one is definitely on the mark. And a turnover on the Dutch right after as Kiki Fla mishandles the Wilson and gives it right back up to Puerto Rico. Ashley Torres finally signs a life here. She is the main weapon for this Puerto Rico squad. The Dutch though aren’t giving her much much room to operate. Torres side steps two ball and we got a wedgie. Someone get that Wilson out of there. Help. Anybody carrying a broom here? Can someone please get that? Torres launches that and it just gets stuck in between the rim and the backboard. Wedgie count on the day so far. One fresh 12 for the Dutch. Lob pass into Slaughter. Patience. Couple of rebounds here, but that ball ends up well somehow ends up with Flur who launches a two ball, but just a little bit short. Verini on the drive now. Melendez deterred on the cut, three on the shot clock to work with. Melendez Faden also blocked on that shot. Zoe works a twoman game with Florida. Two scoops, no cone. That’s just cold. A minute 34 left and the Dutch with an eight-point lead. And the Wilson’s out of bounds again. Gonzalez is left on the floor deflated as the Netherlands Maybe put it to the Puerto Ricans here. Although seems like possession will go to the Burquaz. Torres to the basket. Way off the mark. Go. Easy money. Gonzalez off the mark. And Puerto Rico right now looking for anything, but the answers eluded them all game long. 69 seconds left in second game of action in pool C. And it’s the Netherlands yet again with a dominant display of surgical efficiency mainly from inside the arc. I’ll say the outside outside shooting is not as surgical, but hunting the mismatches and controlling the glass is what led them to this big lead. And Puerto Rico have not found the offense yet in this first game. No space for Torres to work with. So, it’s come down to Gonzalez and Melinda creating most of the offense. Florida, there’s a mismatch under the basket. Puerto Rico double team, but the pass somehow gets through the bump and the bucket for Cook. That is the seventh foul on Puerto Rico as well. So 18th point for the Netherlands. Two free throws coming up for Lis Liselko, the 21year-old part of this young Dutch team and it’s an under 25 squad. So probably kind of read into that what the ages of these players are with two free throws and 20 to eight for the Dutch. They need a score to win it. Puerto Rico need well they need anything. That’ll help slightly but a warning now for defense in the key after a made bucket. First warning on Puerto Rico. Under a minute to go for the Netherlands who could end things here. Flur down to Kilk. Fouled on the play. Two free throws for game coming up for Lisa Lulk who can end this game before the limit and get the Dutch a twozip start in pool play out here in Edmonton. And she does just that. That game’s on ice. The Dutch were dominant and they get some get back for that Amsterdam loss to Puerto Rico. They pick up their second victory in pool C action. They will come out on top of that pool. It will be between Great Britain and Puerto Rico to fight for that second spot. But the Orange Lions, they roar in the West Edmonton Mall and pick up a dub. Enjoy the highlights of this game. We’ll start looking at the next game on the day on the slate, which is Germany and Slovakia. Second look at Germany. First look at Slovakia here in just a few minutes. That game slated to start in six, so stick around. retreat. Okay. Watch. Wow. Watch out. Amazing. Coming up next, we got team versus team. And now Germany number 18. There are the Germans. Dutchlan in their second game in a must-win situation after losing to Spokane 3XBA 11 to 15 and they looked decent in stretches of that game just couldn’t contend with the American offense. Sarah Poleros, usually the leading scoreer on the squad, kept the one point. She’s joined by Porto Nuer and of course the speed. Lara Zulber, six points, four boards for her. She was the most efficient player, leading scoreer in that game against Spokane. Six out of 11 points hers, but they’re going to need some more from her as they need a win. They need it desperately. If not, their campaign ends up very short here in Orland Town facing Slovakia. Bit of an unknown to me. Played in Orlon and Sunite. Two stops for them so far. Didn’t make it out of the pool in either. They beat two players and sub out two more. They come out with book Nova Holikova Uzo Fikova and Gilinska. And I need I clearly need some help in my pronunciations. Trust me, I’m not well verssed in Slovakia. Anyways, this is your Slovakia team. Young squad, all players under 26 years of age. BK Nova, the new ad, the oldest at 25. First women’s series for Bnova. Third ever threetory event. Uso Usuzo Vicha also an add to the squad played in the nation’s leagues for the under21 team for Slovakia. Zalinska usually the top bucket getter here 3.8 point per and it’s a uh an interesting matchup here. The match up with Germany so far for Slovakia has not gone their way. These teams faced off in Orlon in Pul Germany won that game. Other two games that these countries played against each other are from way back in 2022. Both those also Germany win. So history against Slovakia here. But again a new look Germany team. Although it did face off earlier this year in that Orleon stop that game in Orlon a 21-7 Germany victory and it was Sarah Polaros with a gem in that one. 13 points and 13 boards in a an incredible display from Polaros. Can she repeat that? Leading scoreer for Slovakia in that one. Van Krisva not with the squad in this game. Slovakia starts at the Rock here as we continue sprinting. 10-minute sprints all day from Edmonton down low. Look at the basket and it ends up a score. So Slovakia come out with the first bucket. Maybe pull up is no good. Zinska with the board. Just takes that. Zulper. Hesitation and the scoop layup. Lara Zuler cooking up some brought works here early. Zelinska with the step through up and under move. OS takes it herself. Euros into an easy layup. They’re going to need her in this game. Germany. That is it’s 3-2 Slovakia. Polos midi gooda a wide miss and now a foul as newer gets position. and we’ll take to the free throw line and try to see if she can add to the German tally here. Germany had three points early struggled to score consistently in their first pool play game and he’s helped shooters roll for Newer Polos. Oh, by herself passed everyone. Bye, girl. Five to three. Take that. Five to four. Heavy offensive game here. And again, a must-win situation for Germany. Porto off the mark. Nova chases down the board. Bolero’s pushed out of bounds. That’s a foul on Slovakia. Number two on the board. Past the two-minute mark in the game. There’s Polos again. She loses the ball this time. Zulper gets her hands on it. Zulper keeps it alive. a shot clock. Well, Zuler, you have to take that somewhere else. Midi that’s been working for Why not? Six to four. Zulper. Another two for the Germans. Eight to4 start for Germany who are looking serious serious. They know their back is to the ropes. They need a win to stay alive. Zuler screening action. Zuler takes her time, crosses up and is fouled on the shot. So Lara Zuler has been all that and more. She’s a trickster. And we’ve gotten to our first TV timeout with a three-point German lead. They’ve looked decently comfortable against Slovakia. This is what worked early for the Slovakians. They haven’t gone to it much though. OS has been good in the short roll hitting shots in the mid-range and of course we’ve seen a lot of Zuler who we now see at the free throw strike right the left cross and then a well a foul on the play looked like it was going to be a layup But Chovva missed the shot. The 21-year-old will get to the stripe. Polio cuts to the basket, receives the pass, working on the block. That is a foul. Jalinska couldn’t handle the physicality. Sarah Poleros working on another good game against Slovakia on the strike. That’s the fourth foul on Slovakia as well. Were struggling to keep up with the German physicality. A miss by Polos. Zalinska gobbles up the board. There’s Yolinska open under the basket and she uses that 1 m 90 cm frame to finish up finish up the play. Bob pass into Polos. Takes her time and a foul and a rebound. Tangled up with Zilinska. No box out on the play there, but Slovakia doesn’t make the layup. Almost good hands by Porto. Who’s that out on? Had position but just couldn’t keep Porto behind him. Zer for two. Uh-uh. Polio though got her back. Cleans up the mess. Germany in double figures. We’re approaching the halfway mark in this one. Slovakia has missed a couple of easy looks here. Zer Einste for two. 12-7 Zinska. Nothing on the shot. Good defense by the Germans. And then Polio is pulled down. Fifth foul on Slovakia. We’re approaching the bonus here. as a layup missed by Nuver. So Germany also not all the way secure on those uh on those possessions. Does get her team the rebound here. It’s cleared. Ball screen action. And there’s Porto pours in a two ball. Seven points lead for Germany who let Bnova get free. Make that a six-point lead. And then that Wilson sails out of bounds. An Aaron pass by Polos. But Germany looking comfortable here with 440 left on the clock. They need a win to keep their hopes alive and they are at least in the driver’s seat in this one for now. Travel as Olikova use a step too many 22 year old ranked first in Slovakia. All these players or most of these players anyways featured on the uh other two events. Slovaki has played Orlian since Sunungite but no Chris Lova and Kasparanova this one. Tip drill and a turnover on Germany. 14- n a big two balls off the mark. Polaros bring some rest, some calm to the German offense. Porto operates midi. Uh-uh. Long range shot again for Slovakia. That is all net, all wet. 1411. Zulber with the answer and it’s sped out. Big foul on the Germans to stop the clock. It’s only the third. That will get us to the second TV timeout in the game. Germany who had an a seven-point lead earlier. See Slovakia creep closer. A four nothing run for the Slovakians. All smiles before the game. Of course, it’s all business out in the court now. So Slovakia signs a life fourzip run to get themselves to a three-point deficit. Double screen action for Slovakia. A wide open look. That is way off the mark. Quick clear by Zulper. Blobs iter was open. Is fouled on the play. Some frustration as Zillinska said she wasn’t the one doing the fouling. Olio open. Oh, set back. complaining from Slovakia if it’ll lead to a new forer open look. Can’t capitalize from the corner. Slovakia. No. Wild shot. They keep getting offensive rebounds. It’s Zinska that puts down the shot. I see a warning flying. There’s a whistle on the floor and I see Laura Zulra on the strike. I think it might be two free throws as Slovakia has committed their seventh. They are now in the bonus. Zuler secures the first. Second one is Cash as well. Lead back out to four. Off screen action now. Slovakia keep launching these twos but not hit many of them. Dolber wants to get a good screen going and it results in another Slovakian foul and more free throws coming up. It’s Solos this time. And Zuler, as mentioned before, pick up a picked up a silver medal way back in 2019 in the U8 Europe Cup in 3×3. So they have played together for quite some time. has to force up a prayer and it somehow goes down. Crafty play by Laura Zulper. Put that on Etsy. answer from Vichova, but it’s a huge German lead. They could end things on a two here. Polos opts for a drive, bumps, no bucket. Offensive rebound and stopped again. Zalinskot deterring underneath that basket with her length. Couple of shots sent packing by Zillinska. Stands a meter and 90 cm tall. Some long arms as well. Now gets a pass in. Not finished. Footwork. And again, Zalinska with the rejection. Second attempt. Holy Kova goes down. Germany again can end the game here with a couple of scores. Zulper gets the first one to go. 20-4. Quick transition. Germany fouled. Smart play as Zulper was out of position. and is also a shorter defender. Porto will take a seat. A reset here with a fresh 12 for Slovakia who need buckets and stops and time as there’s only a minute and 10 seconds left. Booknova, no. Holy no space for a shot. Great defense on Germany, but better offense on Slovakia as that shot finds the bottom of the net. Oh, but here is Polo’s getting free for a layup. That is a German victory before the limit. 21-6. So, Germany pull out a gritty win when they need it most. Backs to the ropes, but they pull out a victory to stay alive here. And your final score, as mentioned, 21 to 16. Slovakia. They’re going to be left battling it out with Spokane 3XBA later on. Try to see if they can force a three-way tie. The Germans are left waiting for the result for that result. But for now, first step towards qualifying to the knockout rounds tomorrow. You’ll enjoy the highlights in this one as we go into pool Action right after this. Canada. Katarolina on deck. That’s slated to start in eight minutes. I expect you to be there. I’ll be here for sure. entry. I can’t hear you. Hey, crazy. Heat. Hey, Heat. Dance. Hello. Coming up next to the head court once again versus team of representing the team of Kolina second event of the year for them but the first one where they will actually play. They never made it to Sunung Azeraijan last week. They forfeited both games. Play 16th in the qualifying draw. They come out with Gonzalez, Hernandez, Del Toro, and Ortega. Bit of an unknown squad. Nations leagues players from Puerto Rico. 22. Ortega coming out last. All these players under 22 23 years of age. There is your team Kolina. There are your Canadians though. And again, we know who the home crowd’s going to be cheering for. Canada with the win to their name already. beat Seattle 3XBA in a uh and what can be considered maybe the best game of the day so far. It’s Paige Crows on joined by Casey Boss Saca Gran Allen. Seven boards or 7.6 boards for her. And there is Cat Plump led the squad in scoring with eight. Canada was on point, especially down the stretch of that game. They’re defending champs here twice over making it trying to make it three in a row. And again, they’re going to get the crowds into the West Edmonton Mall for sure. and has got the size advantage. They got the experience advantage as well. See what this Calina team can do. Again, they are an unknown new squad on the women’s series players from the Nations League and they’re facing some stiff competition here. Let’s be let’s be frank as this Canada team when they play at their best they might be one of the if not the best team in 3×3 not played up to that standard this year mainly due to the fact that they haven’t played much again this is their third event on the women’s series season in Amsterdam fifth in Ulamad they’re well outside of the top 10 placing 18th in the standings. More points. They are at 130 now. And uh you mark to get into the top 10. You need to get over the 200 point hump. So some quick maths for you. Canada need a W here. Second to last game in in pool A action as Seattle 3x XBA and Kolina will close the day at in just a couple of 10-minute sprints. First Canada get to try and see if they can get to 2 and 0. Karolina will start with possession. Quick two ball down and they start off hot. Two zip to the Puerto Ricans. Crosone drives to the basket, takes the bump and the buckets down as well. Paige, gets to the free throw line. Take a page out of that book. Yeah. Oh, don’t judge me. Anyway, Cros ties the game up at two. Back door cut. Karolina twice over but ball goes out of bounds. Gonzalez couldn’t squeeze it. Squeeze it. 19 years old. Andrea Gonzalez. Double high post look here for the Canadians. Plof opts to take it herself. Drives to the basket and another and one for Canada who create contact and finish through it. Cat Plof on the stripe. Second foul Carolina. That is the fourth point Canada. Cat steps back this time. Long range shot is off the mark. Cat, of course, the lone Poof sister left in 3×3 as Michelle Plof has announced her retirement. Moved on into a different role here. 3×3 performance manager with Canada basketball. One of the greatest ever to do it on the 3×3 court on the women’s side. fourth place for her, of course, at the Paris Olympics, but the uh double women’s series final winner, 22 s uh silver medalist at the World Cup, and of course, multipletime America champ. And Michelle Poof steps away from 3×3 on the active side of the Wilson, but will remain in the game of course again as 3×3 performance manager with Canada Basketball. Good luck to her in that new role and congratulations on a wonderful career spending not just three by the way five on five as well. A three-time Olympian in total. What a basketball career for Michelle and the team is of course left out there missing her services. Well, I gotta say replacement in Cassandra Brown and she’s not the squad here of course and Sa Gran Allen who is with the squad here is not too shabby let’s be frank. Kolina looking at a three-point deficit here. Hernandez and that Canadian defense is just stifling. They’re all over like gravy on poutine. I hope I got that right. Haven’t been to Canada in a while. Crows on under the basket. Easy look. That’s a six-point Canada. Foul on the play. Rozan will take a seat. Free throw coming up for Del Toro. And that one trickles in. Cat mismatch on the block. Cat Plof takes her time. Easy finish. I don’t know if Karolina is going to be able to stop that action all game. We’ll see. Through the legs, but out of bounds. Good idea by Ortega, but the execution left something to be desired there. Bosch flips it backwards side of the backboard. Nothing there. Gonzalez two ball off the mark. Canada back in possession now down to SGA. That’s a mismatch. Foul on the play. Kina trying to double team that post up action for Sata Gran Allen. End up fouling. SGA is going to prove to be a a very difficult mismatch for them as she is a brutal combination of size, agility, and look the speed, but the layup ends up a miss. SJ now open on the block. Hughes mishmass. SJ kicks it out. Crows on that is cashlike collection at church as the ninth point candidate. Del Toro mid-range. No rebound squeezed by SGA. Two ball again off the mark. Rebound Gonzalez. And a foul. Canada has been active on the boards chasing down all the offensive rebounds, but they have not been able to finish up the plays with makes. Free throws will help. They are facing a uh hefty size disadvantage here against this Canadian team. Ooh, beautiful passing. They got more chemistry than a periodic table. 10 to four. No space to operate for Gonzalez again. V timeout in what so far has been Canada’s game. They’ve attacked with poise and have made this Katarolina team look very small both offensively and defensively. Once Cat puts her head down like that and tries to get to the basket, you try to stop it. I don’t know if you can. Bosch getting free for some layups as well. And then Crozan joins the party from range and 3×3’s mo most lethal shooter living up to her name. That a miss and a shot clock violation. Sa fierce to cat lof on the move. Long range shot off the mark again. And then if Katarolina cannot hit those that this game is going to be over very quickly, they are going to have to keep up with Canada scoring wise. I don’t think they’re going to get much stops with the size that Canada brings to the table. Bosch. Oh, that is just snatched from her. Ortega. Ortega by herself. Scoopy Duke. Throws on. kicks it out. Poofs open. Lines up a two back iron. Frozone with the board. Fades. That shot missed as well. The rebound ends up with Cat. And that’s another and one for Canada. Score and a trip to the free throw strike. Karolina now after four minutes at six fouls. They are in trouble when it comes to fouling. Next defensive foul will put Canada on the stripe for not one but two. Canada has missed a couple free throws here. This game could be over in a hurry if we don’t get some Carolina stops or scores here. SGA deters the shot. Plof doesn’t want to take it down to say shoved. Fierce and she’s going to work like a 9 to5. Difficult shot under pressure. That’s off the mark. A 10-point lead for Canada. And Canada is going to look to try to close this game out quickly. Ridiculous action by Canada so far. Sasha to Prozone. Proz on side step. Two ball good. And this Canada team’s more series than Siri. Quick transition. Gran Allen takes her time. Is smacked on the arm. That’s two free throws coming up for SGA. Seventh foul on Karolina who are looking slightly outmatched. Be an understatement here. Maybe to be expected with a Nations League squad stepping into your uh number one seed and a team as decorated as Canada. Second free throw could lift Canadians to 19 points. Carolina stuck at five. We are at the halfway mark in this game, but don’t count on this one going a distance. Ortega. Ortega with the quickness, the moves, the scoop shot. Get that back. Crows on from range. This is the game. That’s 21 points. Canada in the quickest game of today’s action. Just under the halfway mark. And Canada’s ran Carolina off the table. What an efficient display of offense from the Canadian ladies. They were connected. They had the chemistry and they made sure to end this one way before the lead. 21 to five. Enjoy the highlights. This the last shot. A block down to Crow zone and she was in the zone. Ending the game for Canada who pick up their second victory headline pool. They’re going to come out as their first team into the knockout rounds from that pool. We, however, will take a bit of a longer break than expected. Supposed to be only a 10-minute break, but make that 22 minutes. So, the next game as we head into the final stretch here, the final four 10-minute sprints will be France and Toronto meeting up. Heat. coming The final stretch of games out here from the West Edmonton Mall to close out pool play action in the Edmonton Women’s Series stop. It is pool D who will be concluded first and it’s already kind of concluded. France and Toronto both beat Chile. Now they’re fighting to see who can come out in first. France only three players in the roster but Miriam Jac Jacund had a gem of a game against Chile a 20 to 18 victory nine points four boards for her. Milia joined in with seven points, four boards as well. Dave Waymanyama of last. She only scored four. And I say only, but it was an offensive masterpiece from the French who only needed one two-point shot. They shot 15 of 24 from under the basket. They’re facing a Toronto team that had had a little bit of a a rough start. Let’s just say that they went down big against Chile 7 to one, but fought themselves back and beat the Chileians 16- 13. It was Julia Chadwick who controlled the rebound. Nine rebounds for her. Huge game. Six offensive boards for Chadwick. Two points only. Most of the scoring came from Wallak and Belmore. Gibb out next. And there is Wallak. Six points, five rebounds, and in a good game for her. And this Toronto squad is looking pretty dangerous. Will they can will they be able to put it to the women’s series champs France from last year? nicely good and Sonia Maldonado, the referees in this game. And again, these two teams already secured a spot in tomorrow’s knockout rounds. Now, it’s just a matter of where they end up in the pool. Will they grab first or second? And we’ll see if the French can keep up the pace. Again, playing with three. One of the more difficult things to do in all of 3×3. They went bananas on offense. Had a high percentage of their ones as mentioned off of cuts out of 101 plays as well. The mid-range shot was fallen. Ma even hit some fadeaways from the post with touch. Sizewise, these teams pretty evenly matched up. Although Mil might pose a problem. The French obviously have history on their side. Not against Toronto per se, but just in general. France, one of the most winning countries in all of three street. especially on the women’s series. Jake Kungatti of course a big part of that four women’s series stops one in her past. Gold medals at the World Cup in 22 Europe Cup in 22 as well. So a star-studded roster but again they’re playing with three. So, we’ll see how they fare against Toronto. Toronto do get Wallica a look first. Under the basket, no space. They get it back to her. Buckets off the mark, but the bump will get it to the free throw strike. Toronto on the board. first here at the hands of Tara Wallik. There’s Jundady continuing that dominant display with the backwards flip and France tied at one. Gibb to Belmore. Belmore drives. Shot thrown off the mark by the mermaid who gets the ball underneath the basket and scores an easy one. Gibb. Uh-uh. High paced game here to start. Give and go action for the French. That’s worked all day long. Bel shot will count just in time. Mapi Mapi on the drive. Faden with a onelegg but it ends at the front of the rim to Jay Kundady from the corner and the mermaids off the mark. Belmore evades the long arms of Wimmanyama. Ties the game at three. So Toronto looking sharper than the way they started. Pool play. Belmore mid-range shot. Gab with the board. Flips it backwards. Gibbs off the mark. Screening action for a web bono, but hit on the plate and Dave will step to the strike. 23 years of age, one of the graduates of the French Youth Systems in 3×3. Saved in bounds, but saved to the wrong team. Ball’s cleared. Jake Mund keeps it herself. It’s shared Webby from two. That is drained. And that backwards flip by Gibbs is good as well. Toronto sticks close. The French turn it over. Toronto unfaced by that two ball. They return the favor from underneath the basket. Delaney Gibb. Wallak lefty. Toronto’s right back in it. This team has shown some resilience throughout the day already, but this might be the taller of two tasks. Not to get down on Chile. They’re a very good squad, but France got some star power to him. A midi pullup shooters bounce. That two ball ends at the side of the rim. Rebound controlled by the mermaid. There’s that give and go action again. It’s snuffed out. Jac picked off by Belmore Chadwick. And this is where the troubles start. If Toronto keeps driving into Mili and Jake Unade, they are wellestablished shot blockers. That’s not where you want to be. Jundady with two blocks in that game against Chile. That’s gotten us to our first TV timeout. Take a look back at some of the action. J Kundady with the athletic move on the baseline and it’s been Gibb cutting to the basket that’s worked for Toronto so far. High post action now for French. Jake Made is not open. Mili keeps it herself. Ends up sharing with Wemanyama. Two on the shot clock. We manyama has to force it up. That is off the mark and a shot clock violation. Good defense by T dot. Gibb yet again with a left lay. His team’s really found some rhythm here. Mili returns the favorable. Dip on the shot clock is deterred by the mermaid. Jake Kundady just erases that shot. And the French with quick transition get it to Mila P. Three-point lead as a result. Chadwick loses the ball. Just taken from her by Ma. Twick transition, but now it’s the mermaid getting their stuff packed. Milo bucket France Wallocks open. Good find by Gibb. This Toronto team so far has been grittier than sandpaper. They’ve withstood a lot of the stuff that France has done to them. Again, they’re facing a slight deficit. They’re not out of this game at all. A foul here. Chadwick tries to get it to Bellmore. Keeps it herself and is fouled on the drive. and another offensive rebound for Chadwick here. Wallik. No, these are some of the opportunities that Toronto is going to have to convert on if they want to beat this France team. Again, a very wellestablished three string superpower. Val Moore to Wallak. Wallak on the move. Spins into a righty layup. Crafty moves from Wallak there. France get it to Jake Mundady. Midi pull up for the mermaid and Milit can’t squeeze it. 12 second violation. There’s one floor and daddy. Lee’s open. Law pass down in the post and there’s a whistle on the play. Think it might be out of bounds. LP’s trying to argue case that that might have been a foul, but it ends up Toronto possession here. Chadwick Gibb. No space to work with. Mili kicks it down to Wemama who hangs but can’t hit. Wallak for two. Gets her own board and Toronto back within one. Post up. Milby. Very difficult shot. Mil is there to clean up the mess. Gibb finally a look but it ends up on the back of the rim and now they foul on the plate. Second TV timeout in a tightly contested game so far. France has thrown everything they could at Toronto, but Toronto was withtood most of it. And this is the stretch of the game where fatigue is going to start to come into play. France again playing with no sub. Three players on a mission to try to see if they can get all the way to the finals with three. Hurdle in place right now. Toronto. And there’s DJ Lass, our Olympic DJ. He he knows a little bit about France. Just just a couple things. The soundtrack here women series and world tour. Possession two French with 3:15 left on the clock. They go back to that high post play. Give and go action. Junady hands another point to the French tally. France foul. Only third foul on them. Looking for give. Give working the baseline. Gibb. Some sliding action there and that takes too much time. Shot clock violation. Good stop on France who are digging deep here on defense. Trying to create some separation here. Could go up by two possessions or more here. Mili Jay Kundare right to left crossover hangs with a lefty layup. She’s so good at finishing around that contact with those long arms. Midi pull up from Gibb is off the mark, but there’s Chadwick cleaning up the mess. Quick move from Wambi. Oh, the pace of the game just picked up a little bit. Cheddrick foul and thrown to the floor slightly. Four-point lead for France. Can Toronto come back? Gibb with a look. Drains the two ball. This is what Toronto needed. France try to answer. WBY front iron. They get it back to Gibb. Another look here. Hops out of the shot. gets the wallet who’s fouled. Fifth foul in France. That’s to a little bit of an inexperienced squad here in Toronto. Sticking with France. Belmore. And that’s another foul on the French. They’re so good at contesting shots, but this is where you run into trouble. A minute 49 left. They’re at six fouls. They put Jade Belmore on the strike. Next foul, defensive foul that is on France will actually put Dorano on the line for two. Belmore can’t convert. Mil pulls up for two. Belmore has it to Gibb. Gibb speeds by everyone but sent back again by Jake Kundad. Now it’s Wallak. No. The battle for the boards ends up tied up. Case of a jump ball. Defense will be rewarded possession. So he who had control of the rock. A asks for a timeout. French need some air to talk things over and credits their game management. Playing with three again, never easy, but they’ve brought the energy in this one and have put themselves in the good position to come out of pool play maybe 2 and 0 with 14 1412 lead here with just over 90 seconds to go. possession. Lebl Jakundare separation. A mid-range pull up. Uh-uh. Chadwick again with the rebound. They get it to Gibb. Gibb with a look. Chadwick gets it back to Gibb. That shot is missed as well. That’s That’s an expensive miss. Now Rambi’s open. Foul called on the play. Reset for the French. Just over a minute to go. Can they hang on to this lead? As mentioned, both teams already assured of playing tomorrow. Now it’s a matter of who or against who that is. What a move by the mermaid with the he gibb a kick out. Wallocks open. That’s who lost the mark as well. And it’s out of bounds. So, a couple of semiopen to open looks for Toronto that have ended up short here. Now, they’re facing a three-point deficit with French possession and 45 ticks on the clock. WBY with the end one. Bump and a bucket for Abe who takes the contact and has the dexterity to finish the play. That cuts cuts more than hurtful words. Six foul Toronto as well. So they are close to the bones. Trans now with a bit of a bigger lead. Gibb can’t get the shot off. It’s out of bounds. Toronto’s offense has stalled a little bit in the last few possessions as France is just digging deep and getting stop after stop and score after score. Gibb. That shot will go two possession game. Toronto will pick up a seventh here. I believe that is a Um, well, is that foul rescended? Unsure what happened here, but no foul. 31 ticks to go. Two possession game. Map. Good passing by the French Aes wide open. And now a whistle. That is the seventh foul at Toronto. French chemist three throw showing up yet again. And it’s Wimmanyama on the strike for two. First one’s on the mark. This game is running away from Toronto. Especially after that second make. Belmore quick shot. No. Gibb rebound ends up with Jake Gundad. Fans take their time. Clocks in their favor. WBY four in the shot clock. Dribbles into trouble but is fouled in the process. So WebMyama to the stripe for two more. The game in her hands as France is two points away from ending this one early. Only slightly early though. 6 seconds on the clock. Almost 7 seconds on the clock left. When will not end the game. First one’s a miss, but this will be a France win. Don’t get it twisted. And credit to Dan playing with three, ending up with a 2 and 0 record on day one out here in Edmonton. Gibb from the corner. That’s no good. And the clock will run out on Toronto coming back in this game. It’s the French with another well, I wouldn’t say dominant display, but efficient display here. Jung Map and Webyama get the job done. The Blick 2 and 0 on day one. They win pool D here in in Edmonton. And we’ll see how they face as we close out the rest of the pools. Y’all enjoy the highlights first before we go into the next game. France 20 over Toronto 13. Crazy. Okay. Watch out. Down. What you got? Team versus team Win or go home for Puerto Rico and Great Britain. They lost to the Netherlands under 25 to both of them. It’s Puerto Rico out first. They only mustered nine points in that game. Just no offense from them. They couldn’t get any stops. The Dutch picked them apart with postups. And Ashley Torres was mainly invisible. Gonzalez comes out first. She had three points as did Melendez. There’s Melendez. Torres also with three. So shot percentage is uh not great though. One of six from one, one of four from two. And they’re going to need a better performance out of their top gunner. Verini outlast. No points for her. But this squad in general is going to have to try to find some new ways to create offense. If not, they are done here today. It’s win or go home time for the Boricquads. Same goes for Great Britain, though. They did a little better against the Metlands. Lost 19-4. And again, they found some offense, but the Dutch were just better down the stretch of that game. Samantha Ashbo led the squad in scoring with seven. Hit the only two twos for them on the game. Green started out good, but their offense just kind of went stagnant there. Their offense actually went stagnant there for a bit. Hannah jump, two points, two boards. All five of her twos missed. We’re going to hope for a better performance than that. And then Kavina Rickards mid-range jumper started out good, but she ended up two of seven from one, three points total. So, Great Britain again, decent performance against the Dutch, but now face elimination. If they lose, they’re going to have to find a more consistent source of offense than mid-range jumpers. And they’re going to have to contend with the physicality of this Puerto Rico squad. Marip Pier Hulen, Ashley Good. The referees might pee it. By the way, I apologize. Anyway, it’s your uh six seed and your 11 seed meeting up here. An early knockout round game. GB in their second event of the year after Sunite last week. Quick turnaround for them. They’re probably home for what, two days before they flew back into uh Canada. Same of course goes for Puerto Rico who played in Jakarta last week. Had a little bit of a a longer trip. Anyway, here we go. We are trying to wrap up pool C action with a winner go home game for both these teams. Green in the post. Shimmy shakes into a miss. Inbound and Green ends up finishing up the play. Torres looking for space. pulls up for two and Torres continues the uh not so great performance yet, but we know from her and she can really go off for a bunch of points in a hurry once she starts feeling it. Ashby easy layup. There’s Torres again behind the back. Torres loses everyone but misses the layup. Rickards midi m. Well, that was halfway down. Green was fouled. She’s on the free throw strike. That’s a three-0 lead. Great Britain. Puerto Rico finds some offense here. Vidini to the basket. Righty scoop is in. That’s her first score of the day. A much needed one, too. Green size advantage. Great Britain, but she is held up. That’s a jump ball situation. Good hands by the Puerto Ricans. Jump ball, of course, will be rewarded to the defense, so they’ll they’ll get possession out of this as well. Green will take a seat. Play the action for Torres. Torres snakes sneaks through the defense. Ashby with the fakery and the makery. Difficult shot for Ashby, but it goes down. Torres with the separation all the way to the corner. That two ball’s good and Puerto Rico tied things at four. Ashley Torres has found some offense. Three quick points in a hurry for her. GB answer. Dores this time working behind the screen. Down to Melendez. Melendez passes it to the wrong team. Rickard swings it. Jump for two. And that’s off the mark. Gonzalez on the move past Green hangs and hits. And now a warning extended to Puerto Rico for playing defense after a make. Green is open in the post. She’s got the size advantage. Kicks it out. Ash B for two again. GB up by two. No defense on the pick and roll though. Melendez with an easy layup. Now Green’s open. She’s held up and that was in the act of shooting. Second foul. Puerto Rico. Free throw coming up for Charity Green. Lendez one hits one from the corner and Puerto Rico find connection again. Eight to eight. Get the ball back to Gonzalez just inside the two-point arc. All of a sudden, the offense is real lively and a turnover on Great Britain. Look at the emotions for Puerto Rico who are tuning up the defense and the physicality here. Hitting some shots as well. They got some belief, keeping their hopes alive of continuing their run here in Edmonton after being left in a qualifying draw last week in Jakarta. Of course, they you knew they were going to try to look had a better result. Look at the separation though from Torres. Melendez. Melendz with the spin move on records. That’s gotten Puerto Rico a two-point lead. Ashby with the fake and again the drive but the layup is way short. Torres nothing. Melendez gets it back to Torres. Torres looking for space. Two on the shot clock. Torres has to force it up and that is way off the mark. There’s Rickards who hangs and shots off the mark but third foul Puerto Rico and a trip to the strike for Kavina Rickards. GB back winning one. The pass down low and that is an easy bucket. Melendez. No sharp screening defense here from Great Britain. Although they return the favor with Rickards under the basket. Point forpoint, punch for punch right now between Puerto Rico and Great Britain in a winner go home situation. Gonzalez, a huge two is off the rim. So, first possession for Great Britain. They go to an elbow play for Green who opts to go one-on-one. Moves Melendez around but loses to Wilson. 3 seconds to go. Ashby has to start taking shots here. Mid-range pull up. Nuh-uh. Gonzalez almost lose to Wilson but is fouled on a difficult attempt. Too much on that attempt to block or at least contest the shot and Za Gonzalez 22y old is on the strike. Rickers loses to Wilson. A lot of turnovers in this stretch of the game for Great Britain. Need ex need all the possessions they can get. Shooting percentage not great. Referees discussing some of the happenings here. They go back to discussing the happenings. It is GB possession. Four on a shot clock here. And a whistle on the floor. Looks like a fourth foul on Puerto Rico all the way at the end of the shot clock. Aspie speeds by everyone. It’s Melendez who comes in, rejects the shot, but apparently gets a piece of armor hand on there as well. So Samantha Ashb has been the uh most consistent source of offense for Great Britain. Adds to her tally from the free throw strike. Melendez no answer. Green throws that back like a 90s song. Torres. No space. Great defense by Rickers. He turns around and gets a bucket right away. Quick transition. GB tie things at 12. Gonzalez on the move out to Melendez. Fade away. Torres comes away with it. Torres now baseline. The bump, the turn, and the defense by Rickers who just denies that shot altogether. Jump. Now five minutes to go in this one. 1212 tie. Winner go home. And Ashby says, “I don’t want to go.” Turnover on Puerto Rico. Ball back to GB. Ashby this time drops it off to Green. Green fades off the glass. A three-point lead for the British. Gonzalez though brings the team all the way back to one. Ashb and now a whistle on the play foul and that is an offensive foul. Stores was in position and stood her ground took the contact fell over. And our second TV timeout is Great Britain with a one-point lead over Puerto Rico mainly at the hands of Samantha Ashby who’s been brilliant in this one. Both going towards the basket as well as from from range though still in this not out of this at all. Melendez to Torres. Torres. That ball’s out of bounds, but a whistle and a foul on Great Britain. Reset here for Puerto Rico. Melendez, Verini, and Torres on the floor. Melendez with a back cut and the easy layup. And this game has seen more ties than a business. More ties than a business event. Green though breaks the tie. Torres gets a screen. Torres works behind the screen. A dump down pass to Melendez who can barely hold on. That shot is up and out of time. Orz trying to be more of a passer in this game. Felt like she was open after the screen but opted not to take the shot. Turnover on Puerto Rico. Great Britain with a one-point lead and possession here. Pass down in the jump. jump turns and that ball’s picked off. Melindas can’t keep it in bounds though. Some discussion here, but the referees are sorting things out. Just over 3 minutes to go and that is a shot clock violation. So again, we are trying to wrap up pool C action. Who will join the Netherlands? who come in first in the knockout rounds. Will it be Puerto Rico or will it be Great Britain? Torres says, “Well, I don’t know because Rickards just sends it back again.” Rickards now on the move. Rickards big steps but also deterred. Torres just ball taken from her by Ashby. Quick pass into Rickards for a bucket. GB up by two. Verini held up. Foul number four on Great Britain. Rickers will take a seat. Melendez almost lose the ball and does so again, but it’s Derini who picks it up, throws up a prayer. It’s off the mark. Ashby down to Green. Green held up. Sixth foul, Puerto Rico. Green has to take it herself. Green hangs. Doesn’t hit. Couple of rebounds for Great Britain here. And still nothing at the end of that. Puerto Rico fighting to stay alive in this one. Gonzalez. Gonzalez falls to the floor. Melendez now with to Torres and that is blocked yet again. And a turnover on Great Britain will get Puerto Rico possession back. Melendez hangs and hits. That is a big bucket for Melendez. Spin cycle. Bump. Hang. Hit. What a sequence from Tyra Melendez who could tie things up from the strike and does just that. 1717 Green Cookies taken. Jump ball. Flores just grabbed that out of her hands. The grit from Puerto Rico. You can feel it across the screen. Try to get Torres some screens. Torres now on the move. Torres by herself. That layup is good. Ashby didn’t clear the ball. Turnover on Great Britain. Momentum clearly with the Puerto Ricans right now. Gonzalez. Now Gonzalez fouls. And that is not a smart foul. Seventh on Puerto Rico means they get into the bonus. That will put GB on the strike. So Brit, Great Britain. Two free throws coming up and a jump. 24 year old will take him. jump. First one’s good. That ties it at 18. Second one could get the Brits ahead by one. Two points away from that 21 point mark. That ends the game. Does so. Puerto Rico do something here. 125 to go. Gonzalez. Good defense by the Brits. It’s Melendez and it’s just off the mark. Snakes with it. That one also off the mark. But again, an offensive rebound. Another try. Torres also. No. And now it’s a jump ball situation. So, three misses in a row from Melendez and one from Torres behind that. Puerto Rico. hustle for every every offensive rebound but just can’t tie the game up. Jump ball will be rewarded to the defense. That was Great Britain in the case. Green almost loses it. Gets it to Rickards. Rickards on the move. Rickards pulls up from the mid-range. That is money. 20 to 18. GB in the driver’s seat. Torres gets a look though. Torres drains the look. It’s 20 each. Who’s going to end this? Rickards with the ball in hand. Rickards to the cup. Green with the board is blocked by Melendez. One of the shot clock. That is a 12second violation. Puerto Rico get a stop. They want a timeout to talk things through. What a game between Puerto Rico and Great Britain. 2020. Win or go home. Puerto Rico ball after this timeout. Can they end things? try to get some last adjustments down. Rico go with Torres, of course. Melendez. It looks like Gonzalez against Rickards. Ashb and Green. It’s Gonzalez with the rocking hand. She gives it up. Melendez. Melendez to the basket. Spins. Melendez is blocked by Green. Green clears it for Britain. Rickards rocking hands. Six on the shot clock. Rickards on the move. Gets by the defense. Melendez hangs. It’s tipped up. No. Rickards hangs and hits the shot for Great Britain. Kavina Rickards sticks with the offensive rebound and gets Great Britain out of the pool and into the knockout rounds. What a win. And heartbreak for Puerto Rico who looked like they got the stop they needed. But it’s GB who come away with a victory here 21-20 and will take that second spot in pool C behind the Netherlands under 25. All smiles for the Brits. Puerto Rico are left with heartbreak. This is a contender for game of the day. I’ll tell you, you all enjoy the highlights from this one as we get set for the last two 10-minute sprints from Edmonton for today. Don’t go anywhere. The action continues in just a few Hey, hey, hey. Hey. Hey. All right, coming up next we have team versus 3 A and now is going to want to see her team get a dub here. If not, Slovakia is out after losing to Germany 21-6. Nova in that game two points. She’s joined by Holly Kova who led the team with six Vichova on deck as well as well as Galilinska who didn’t contribute much in scoring. Four points with nine rebounds and three blocks for her. Number 16 outlast. This is Slovakia and they need a win. They need some support. They’re facing some stiff competition here in a team that actually took down Germany. Spokane 3XBA. Lake Dietrich, five points, three key assists. Good game all over. Destiny Sloum actually might have had the move of the tournament with a jelly finish under the basket. Sundale three points to her name. Six rebounds as well. This team a sizable 3×3 squad especially with Arinette Vonlay on the block. Don’t shoot a lot of twos. Actually 0 for two in that win over Germany. But they didn’t need it as they were efficient enough from one. Got their scores that way. So, Slovakia are going to look to try to see if they can upset this Seattle 3XBA team who hit the uh women’s series for the very first time. And as these players get their last warm-ups in, Spokane actually beat the Germans on the boards as did the Slovakians. So the battle for the rebounds will be an interesting one to keep keep an eye on. Bonlay against Zilinska will be probably the matchup that determines the win. Although I am slightly biased in case you didn’t know. I I used to be a low post player myself. My name three extreme mountain. Boss Rosenol aka 3×3 the mountain. Actually, if you want to help me out uh with these uh Slovakian pronunciations, hit me up at 3×3 the mountain on Instagram. Make sure to follow the official accounts as well at FIA33 at FIFA33w. Of course, we got a World Tour Masters for the men coming up as well. Spicy tournament there as some teams that that we’ve never seen before slow show up in Karakas and St. Martin. First action of the game off the mark and it’s Spokane with a drive here. Knocked out of bounds. 3.3 seconds on the shot clock. Dietrich will take the check. Dietrich tries to get it to Von Le. Takes too long though, so that bucket will not count. Wiped off. Shot clock violation. Alikova easy layup. Good start for Slovakia here. But they struggle and they will struggle to deal with Arinet Bonlay. 22year-old under the basket foul by Zilinska. Free throw is cash and it’s a one-un game. Zilinska now steps out to the two-point arc. That is halfway down. Toilet bowls out. Spoke aim back at it. Vaughn. No. Second attempt. Yes. Zillinska is open but Slovakia can’t get it to their midi pull up off the mark. Zilinska grabs the board back out book Nova and thank you. Two up, two down for Slovakia. Actually that was a one. Sloum behind the back. Magical pass. Vonlay with the finish. The trickery from Spokane 3XBA. Oh. Oh. Oh. What a pass by Slope. Shot clock violation. And Spokane will get possession back. Minute and a half in. A 32 game. So got a D trick. Back to Sundell who almost loses the ball. Two on the shot clock. Has to take it. Fadeway no good. Back to Slovakia. Hikova. Another swing. Left to right cross down to Hikova. The plays broken up by Sloum. But foul called on the floor. Uknova mid range pull up. No good. Sloum this time with the normal pass and Vonlay ends up on the free throw strike. That pick and roll action for Spokane 3XBA now starting to work. Sloukm with the handles. Arinette Vonlay with the roll. And another free throw coming up for Vonlay who hit her first one earlier. This one front of the rim. Zinska’s open. That’s a size mismatch even though Sundale is no slouch in the height department. Sundell this time drives baseline. Vonlay from the mid-range just off the mark. Diet asks for a screen. Gets it to Vonlay yet again. And this is not going to be stopped all game long if they keep executing like that. Vonlay so good at rolling to the basket. Slovakia mid-range shot again and those are just slightly inefficient here. Can’t get to the basket. Bonlay does get to the basket. Is fouled in the process. TV timeout. Spokane’s got a two-point lead on a win. They will headline. Germany, of course, waiting for the results in this game. In case of a Slovakia win, a Spokane loss, we’re going to have to bring out some calculators to see who will move on from pool play for now. Spokane 3XBA in the driver’s seat. Although Bnova had the driver’s seat on that take. Look at the behind the back go. Magical, magical pass. Bonlay on the free throw strike split. One miss, one make so far. Make that two makes. And a foul on that post up. Aikova pushed off for spot by Dietrich. Audi Kova through the contact but off the mark. Dietrich holds your ground. Fresh 12 though for Slovakia here down to Zillinska Aluvichova again. No quick transition to Dietrich who lines up a two ball off the mark. Sundell with the board. Ball screen action for Sloum now denies the screen. Slokum with the midi pull up and another quick score for Spokane 3XBA. We’re now running away with this 7 to2 after four minutes of action. Zilinska is open. Slovakia finally come up with an answer here. Sunday, no one home on the layup attempt. Zilinska in the sloukum spins away from the action. Beautiful take but no make turns the defenders all the way around and lefty layup gets Spokane to nine. Question right now is can Slovakia keep up with the pace the game’s been going at. They’ve only scored three points in the for first 4 and 1/2 minutes. They’re on the brink of elimination. Spokane’s got their foot on the gas pedal. Slokum from two drains it. That took the entire rim to get down here. But this game starting to get out of hand. Good defense again by Spokane and 3XBA and they’ll regain possession with an eight-point lead right at the halfway mark. Pick and roll action again. Bri double screen. Vonlay open under the basket. Vonlay with the patience and to make such a big target down there. Long arms, easy finishes. Although Zalinska does some back. Double screen action this time. Gets Sundell a look from two knuckle balls in the long range shot. Spokane’s got all the offense unlocked. Pick and rolls. Twos all going down. Zilinska no answer for Slovakia. 10-point lead for Spokane 3XBA who have blown the doors off of this game in the last minute. Slogan to Dietrich who loses the ball. Slovaki keep going into these one-on- ons, but it’s not working so far. The physicality of Spokane is outmatching the offensive skill the Slovakians are bringing to the court. Dietrich to Sloum this time. Sloum with another shovel pass. Sundell easy layup. Sloum quick steal finishes it herself. pissed that well. See, I spoke too soon. Took a couple rebounds and then no score. With the foul. That’s a take foul. They didn’t want to give up a bucket there. That’s gotten us to our second TV timeout and an blowout game for Spokane and 3XBA right now. 11 points ahead of Slovakia who look dead in the water in this winner go home situation. I think even if they manage to come all the way back and get a dub, they might still not even make it. I don’t know. Anyway, an 11-point deficit for them. They look a bit outmatched. Who’s down to Zelinska over Vonlay. Takes the contact as well. Free throw coming up. Slovakia at five points could make it six with a make here. Gilinska does that. Valinska again the leading scoreer on this team at 3.8 perh points per in the women’s series this year. Sunville with the quick moves and almost broken up by Slogan. Nova hit one from there earlier. Kick ball. Now we get Slovakia possession back. Screening action with Bonlay again. slips to the bucket. Easy layup and Spokane closing in on that 21 point mark here. Can they finish the game before the limit is the question? I don’t think that wins in doubt. Booknova. Nuh-uh. Good defense. And the shot clock violation back to Spokane 3XBA. Barnlay feed the parking meter. Vonlay has been unstoppable all game. There she goes again. Finishes with the right hand this time. That pick and roll is unguardable with Vonlay rolling like that. And another 12 second shot clock violation by Slovakia. We’re just outmatched here against Spokane. La Paso is taken out. Gilinska is open. Sloukum too physical. Fifth foul on Spokane. Maybe off the mark. Spokane take over. Sloum to Sundell and Bondley again just a machine on the block. Sloum with quick hands. 19 points spoke gain. Sloum on her way behind the back kicks it out. Sundell from the corner. Flo with screening action. Flips it backwards. Nuh-uh. Fadeway shot from Silinska is off the mark. Sloum with a look for the game. No. Sundell back to Sloum’s second attempt and that one will end things and gets spoke Kane 3XBA the first place in pool B. Great start for them in their first women’s series campaign. The pick and roll action with Arinet Bonlay was a thing of beauty, a sight to behold. An easy victory for Spokane 3XBA. As a result, they take this one 21-6. Enjoy. Enjoy the highlights. There goes Vince Chang. Look at that man go. Anyway, enjoy your highlights as we get ready for the last game of today’s action where we close out pool A from Edmonton. That up in just a few minutes. Don’t go anywhere. Let’s go. Yeah. Nice. Let’s go. Let’s go. Let’s go. All right, coming up next we got team versus Seattle. Last 10-minute sprint of today’s action. It’s Kadolina taking on Seattle 3XBA for a spot in the knockout rounds. Katina, they took a beating against Canada 21 to five in their first women’s series action here in 2025. It was Gonzalez who led the squad with three out of five points, but not much to take away from that game besides the fact that they need a change and they need to change fast because if not, they’re going home. Gonzalez is joined by Del Toro, Hernandez, and Ortega. Gabriella out last and Karolina. They need to find a lot of offense, possibly a lot of defense as well. This is your team, Karolina. And they’re facing a heavyweight in Seattle 3XBA. And their only event this year so far, Seattle got to the finals on the women’s series. And then they played Canada to start things off here. And they they played that game pretty pike. Canada just a little bit better down the stretch. A 20-7 defeat for C Seattle there. Sydney Taylor though. 10 points. Just incredible offense from Sydney Taylor. Joined of course by Camille Zimmerman, Carlen Littlefield, and Madison Scott. Littlefield also had six. It both of her twos. They put it to Canada. That that game was very close. And Canada, of course, an established superpower in 3×3 basketball. So, this uh could very well be a David versus Goliath type story here. Katalina unproven, unknown and so far not that good. Meanwhile, Seattle kind of opened some eyes there with that game against Canada and of course that run to the finals in Bucharest earlier this year. Anyway, this this game will conclude pool play. We’ll know who the eight teams are that will feature in the uh qual in the in the knockout rounds tomorrow. And which eight teams remain hopeful for a chance at the victory here in Edmonton? And of course, bag of prize money. A bag is to be had here. Winner gets $14,000 US this year 2025 over1 million US in prize money on the women’s series. Step back action there off the mark. Seattle take over. Foul called on the action in the paint. There’s Taylor left wide open. Scott snatches the board, finishes up the play. Seattle on the board here. Ortega answers with the break. Alina, they at least scrap and fight. They get a bucket from Hernandez. Tie things up at one. All right, I don’t mind it. Littlefield to Taylor from the deep end. Little field with the board. It ends up in Katalina’s hands to Ortega. Back door cut. A mid-range pullup is off the mark and Scott is open. The size advantage for Seattle is pretty real. Scott can’t finish the play though. Saves the ball in bounds. Littlefield to Taylor. Taylor with the lake. Littlefield as he somehow spins around two defenders at the same time. Not sure how she did it. I need that move though. Bag work. 3-1. Taylor from the corner. Shots off the mark so far. He’s getting some pretty easy looks. And Gonzalez also can’t get a bucket on that play. Stuck at one point. Seattle’s now at three. Taylor high post action for Zimmerman. Inverse pick and roll. Zimmerman with the spin cycle and the jelly off the glass. Beautiful action from Seattle here. Zimmerman then with the steel. Lines up a two ball under shot. Taylor saves it. Six on the shot clock. Taylor wide open. How did she find her on that pass? X-ray vision and Taylor with a bucket. Everybody’s on the floor. Tega a long one. Taylor good transition. Zimmerman well tries to flip it up backwards. Foul was already called. Double high post look here for Seattle 3XBA. Zimmerman size advantage. Gets it to Scott who is open. Takes the bump. Finishes the play. Scott now to the strike. Good play design there by Seattle. Third foul on Catalina. Scott with a free throw. front working behind the screen. Good pass from Ortega. Threatening a needle there. Third point Calolina. Seattle still working that size advantage, but Scott stays down. Snatch back from Mortega, but it’s off to Mark. Now it’s Littlefield showing that she can shoot the ball at a high clip. This one not good. Good defense by Zimmerman. Middlefield. Zimmerman fakes, drives, ends up on the floor. Layup, no good. Seattle still hold that three-point lead. Not the sharpest game from either team. A lot of misses here in the first couple of minutes. We’ve gotten to our first TV timeout. Feels like if she se Seattle put their foot on the gas pedal, this one should be over. Not to discredit Katina, but they look a little bit outmatched here. fresh 12 for Calina to work with screening action. Zimmerman breaks up the play. There’s Taylor lob pass in to Scott. Scott with the patience fouled on a play. That’s free throws coming up. Fourth foul. Karolina Scott with a good catch. Had the patience to try to go up. He’s bumped on the play. Scott’s missed her only free throw so far. Second one to make. Four-point advantage. Seattle 3XBA. Ortega trying to work the screening game here. Difficult pull up, but it’s down. Long range one for Ortega again. Toe on the line. Sydney Taylor couldn’t be reached. Scott, it’s a kickball. Zimmerman out to Taylor from the deep end splashing like wipeout. 94 and Seattle could blow the roof off of this game very quickly here. Ortega trying to change that. She’s been on one in this game. This one’s counting for two. Zimmerman muscles it up. Seattle reaches the 10-point mark. We’re approaching the halfway point of the game here. Toto is held up on the drive. All source of offense for Karolina has been Ortega gets a screen here. Ortega from the mid-range this time. Ortega teammates get the rebound, but it ends up somehow ends up with Ortega. Ortega with the step back. Now it’s Scott controlling that Wilson. Handoff action with Littlefield. Scott’s got a mismatch. The director down to the block. Scott the hurt. foul on the drive. Gonzalez with a strong take now ends up on the free throw strike. However much this has looked like Seattle’s game so far. Karolina is not out of this at all. Two possession game. Andrea Gonzalez in the Gonzalez on the strike. The 19year-old could make this only a three-point deficit for the Puerto Ricans. Quick take by Littlefield. You too little. takes the bump for a free throw to boot. That fifth foul on Karolina. Jump ball. Back door cut, but well the land line was cut. The connection just dropped. Zimmerman to Littlefield. Easy connection. 127. Ortega got from range again. Last couple of shots have been off the mark. Now it’s Littlefield on the drive. Littlefield hangs, hits, and Seattle finally find that that sharpness that you expected them to come out with to start this game. Down to Scott. Scott fading mid-range. No, but Seattle now with a pretty hefty lead. Second TV timeout. And again, Seattle’s come up with some buckets here in the last few minutes. Little Field’s been pretty good, tell you that. She’s out there running. Like a leaky faucet, getting buckets, though. Stay tuned. Scott back door cut. Taylor, who’s been quiet in this game, changes that with the backwards layup. Ortega crossing left, right, right, left. No, but Del Toro gets her another look. Toe on the line. So that’s a deep one. It seems like actually never mind. What is it? Two. Taylor though with the answer. Just too short off of her fingertips. Ortega with the separation. She is unconscious. Another two ball down. 1511 Kolina stick around in this game. four-point game here with 2:30 on the clock. Who would have expected this? Got Alina showing some fight, but Ortega just getting buckets left and right. She is feeling it like a shrinks visit. Taylor runner. Ortega again. Ortega on the move. Shares no space for a shot. That heaves way off the mark. Littlefield hung up. Sixth foul. Karolina. 2 minutes 4 seconds to go. A two- possession game in favor of Seattle 3XBA. Aoro there sticks out a leg. Fresh 12 here for Seattle. Little field by herself to the basket is bumped off her spot. That’s two free throws coming up this time. Littlefield with this next make to get Seattle to 18 points. They looked pretty good today. Carino though they stuck around this game. This looks like a gap they they can’t close. Two minutes ago and then they turn it over. This might be the curtain call here for Karolina unless Ortega can come up with some uh some magical shots here. Scott big step. Scott Wilson’s out of bounds. Taylor’s telling her teammates to get to the side. Six seconds. Taylor’s going to work. Deep two from Taylor. Wait, wait a minute. I She waved her teammates off. I thought that was going to be a bucket. Anyway, Taylor with the miss. Karolina back in action. Del Toro Midi that goes. There’s Taylor on the block against a smaller Ortega. That is just baby food right there. Scott to Zimmerman. Zimmerman with a flip pass into Scott. What a beautiful play. Incredible vision. El Toro can’t repeat that mid-range performance. And Seattle is now at 20 points. Could end this game with a next bucket. Scott facing up Taylor. And that is good off the glass like a fine wine. And Seattle wins this one 21-13 and make sure they get to the knockout rounds. Credits to Karolina for showing up for this game. Made it a good one up until the last minute or so, but it’s the starstudded Seattle 3XBA squad that take it 21-13. Good game by Caroline Littlefield who provided all the spacing as well as the drives to the basket. Scott was grabbing boards. Staylor of course again good on offense. Zimmerman maybe with the pass of the day with that behind of head flip to Scott. We might see them again. Seattle we will see them again tomorrow. Sierra Berdick happy with the results here. The three extreme legend. Y’all enjoyed the highlights in this game and we’ll get you updated on the pool situations going into the knockout rounds tomorrow after the last set of highlights.
