NBA Live! Los Angeles Lakers vs Golden State Warriors | LeBron vs Curry | GS vs LAL | NBA 2K25
three-point shot so important in today’s NBA and a major part of the game plan, Greg, for both of these teams. And we can expect to see a high volume of shots from beyond the arc in this one. I’m looking for whichever squad is able to create more havoc and throw the opposing shooters off their rhythm. And now the Lakers starting group in it forward for him. It’s James and Hachimura. Luca Donic out there with Austin Reed. And it’s Aon in at the pivot spot manning the middle in the corner. It’s James. [Applause] Pass to Donic and the double up. Donic. Hatimura. The pass to LeBron. Five to shoot. Top of the key. Hatchima. No good for the Warriors. They won their last contest that game against the Bulls. Here’s He shot goes in. First shot, first basket. And what a show of agility by He getting around the contact there and right to his finish here in the first. A little over a minute played so far. gets the three-pointer to fall. Pick works well there. Not much resistance from the deep. Yeah, that just comes down to a lack of effort. The defender has to do a better job fighting through the screen. Fires from 14. LeBron grabs the miss. Credit the defensive effort there not giving him room to operate. And again, it’s the Lakers from deep. LeBron really added this into his game later in his career, becoming a threat from deep. The Warriors have gone one of three for the field to start this one so far. And two free throws coming up. Unable to get that one to go with all the content. The greatest shooter ever, Steph Curry. You played with him. What was it like seeing him day in and day out? I had the pleasure of playing with Steph the first year he broke the NBA record for threes in a season. And when I tell you he was just scratching the surface. He was always looking to push the boundaries to see what he can do and to work at every aspect of his shooting. [Applause] That’s good from Stephen Curry. And something you see with the Lakers, they really trust their role players, don’t they, Richard? Yeah, LeBron does a great job of empowering his group. That’s why he’s top five in the league all time in assists. If you earn his trust, he will give you a ton of space to work. The Lakers know that they can only go as far as their great group of role players. And both free throws good for Curry. RJ, with how well Curry continues to play, I’m not sure his three-point record will ever be broken. It’s going to be tough to do, but even if it does, I think Steph will still be regarded as the best shooter we have ever seen simply because how he changed the game. Here’s the Warriors with the ball. Trailing by two. Outside Green, inside Curry. That’s good. How do you stop Curry? Well, in a short answer, you can’t. First quarter of ball almost two and a half minutes in. Donic against Curry. Pulls it up. A nice shot by Donic. Donic has got five now. Boy, he is looking confident. Love how they’re using him so far. Yeah, when he gets engaged this early in the game, it’s bad news for the defense. he can roll this start throughout the rest of the game. And so Steve Kerr calls for the timeout. He wants to talk to his guys. [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] A moment now to check out some numbers for Luca Donuch. and he’s fallen out of favor a little bit in their offense, at least compared to how he was being used earlier in the season. His usage percentage is down over the past five games. Maybe he’ll be more involved here tonight. Here’s Curry. He’s a guy that can score, no doubt, averaging over 25 points a game. Horford, the pass to Green. Curry with a wide open look off target with his three. And you don’t want to give up that kind of look too often. Hatchima finds Aton. And he uses the glass on the layup and and patting that field goal percentage. Just hard to stop Aiden when he gets the ball that deep. And here in the first about 3 minutes in the latest now from our sideline reporter, David Aldridge. David, it’s all yours. Take it away. Well, I caught up with coach Steve Kerr. I asked him about the game plan to contain LeBron James and he laughed. He said, “There’s a way to contain LeBron James. All we can do is try not to give him easy looks and force him to make tough plays.” Guess that’s the best you can do against King James, guys. Thanks so much, David. This is his second trip to the free throw line. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. First free throw is good. We’re only around halfway through this very long season, GA. This is when the grind, I think, really kicks in. Yeah, you think about the physical and mental toll this game takes on you. And I miss being out there, but man, I tell you, it can be a grind. Marcus Mars check in for Donic. And both free throws good for Curry. Richard, we know that not many teams have had steady core players like the Warriors have had over the past decade. Well, there’s so much player movement these days, and it’s hard to keep any roster intact, let alone a superstar team like Golden State. On the wing, Reed. Six to shoot. Lakers working the ball around now. Here’s Hatchima. Here’s Aiden. His second shot goes in. Off to a good start. Two for two. Just a strong sequence there from DeAndre Aiden. Now here’s Green. No scoring in this one outside. Curry [Applause] pulls up and again it’s the Warriors missing. Lakers leading by four to the paint and the dunk by Hatimura. And that play showcasing Hachimura’s hops. He he just pops up and slams that one home. The Warriors have gone two of six from the field. Green taking his time here. Pass to heal. The three and again it’s the Warriors missing on the wing. Reeds covered by Heel. [Applause] Hatimura against Green. Down to five on the shot clock and it’s eight and missing. And so Green will bring it up for the Warriors. Six-point game. Pass to Curry. [Applause] Oh, and that one, no question, powered it down. Yeah, you don’t want to forget about the athleticism of Butler. Just a sick slammer of the basketball. You can’t allow him to get to that launching pad. And JJ Reick is called timeout. He wants to make some adjustments to the game plan clearly. [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] Heat. Heat. Well, some of the big men in the league didn’t mind drifting out and letting it fly from deep. Here are the best three-point shooters, centers, and power forwards. Fifth best is El Horford. And you know, there was a time in the league when you wouldn’t see a group of big guys like this, but the game has evolved. Versatility now is why we see so many bigs that can just flat out shoot it from anywhere. Okay, I’ll say it. I’m still not a huge fan of big fellas taking threes, but when it comes to this group, I will make an exception. Reeves in the corner. [Applause] Now here is Hiim. He’s guarded close. Los Angeles needs to get off a shot here. James no good. Warriors trail by four. Guys are looking for a spark here. Yeah, a cold stretch offensively for sure. Outside Horford [Music] healed against Reeves. low block shot and foul on the shot. So, he’ll get a chance at the line. Richard with Buddy Heel. We’re talking about one of the best shooters in the NBA. No question. He is a marksman. He’s going to have to be a mercenary though. He is the type of an outside threat that every team needs. I don’t care what the offensive system is. Buddy Hill will find a way to score. The first one falls. Guys like Buddy Hill, knock down shooters. They are in high demand around the league. And the Lakers making a change here. Laabas checked in. Good. Both shots good from the stripe. No surprise there. He’s about as automatic as it gets from the stripe. I hope I didn’t jinx him. Reeves outside. Here’s Laabia by Green. James looking it over. Pass to Reeds. Here’s Larabia. Los Angeles with another miss. Well defended that time. He’s a shooter that the D has to close down on quickly when he’s ready to pull the trigger. Curry’s shot is good. He has the fastest shot in the game of basketball. Curry’s release is so quick that the D can’t afford to lay off him at all. Los Angeles has gone two of five from three-point land here in the first quarter. Pass to Labraia. Here’s the three. Warriors with the rebound. This game coming on the heels of their win against Chicago. I I felt like they attacked but with a purpose. They knew what they wanted to accomplish coming in. The coaching staff has been happy with how well they’ve executed the game plan. They operated as a cohesive unit. He’s looked practically unstoppable this quarter. The defense, yeah, well, they haven’t had any answers for him. And JJ Reick is called timeout. And coach has decided they need a moment to talk things over. [Applause] Heat. Heat. [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] Now we get a chance to check out LeBron. James, unbelievable play for him over the last month. And with a top 20 ranking in field goal percentage, you put the ball in his hands and he converts at a remarkable rate. And as you said, dropping dimes at a top five pace, he’s in total command of his team. They look to him for leadership and he does not disappoint. Healed against Reeds outside. Smart. Bass to Lavia. Shot clock at five. Now the Warriors moving it up from 11 ft away. Got a piece of it. Reeves against Teal and stolen by Horford. Healed outside [Applause] down low. Curry. That’s good. And it’s his fourth basket of the game. He’s a strong four for six. This is what Curry does best. He is so creative at getting into rhythm and staying hot. Lakers trail by six. Now Reed, a 14-point game for him in the win against Boston. Some nice passing here by Los Angeles. Oh, in position and stolen by Horford. Reeves against Tee. Pass to Curry to the inside from close range and it’s Green missing. And you got to give credit to the D for never giving up on the play and doing just enough to bother him at the rim. James on the follow. Nice work on the offensive glass. James just getting the timing just right. Heel with a screen on LeBron. Nice move. It’s good. It’s his second basket. He’s shooting two for four. And the lack of effort to fight over the screen there makes that an easy shot. Yeah, as soon as these guys feel contact, they are just disappearing like they’re not even there. You got to show some fire and keep defending. It’s stolen by Green, healed outside. Outside Curry. Green passes to Curry. Just five to shoot. Good work defensively by Smart. And it’s Smart with the ball for Los Angeles. They trail by six. Their last game, a win against Boston, looking to carry it into this one. Yeah, I mean, we saw them do a little bit of everything in that game. Showed a lot of versatility. It really is fun seeing an offensive function like a welloiled machine. I’ll be interested to see if they can keep doing this. So, both teams changing it up here. Over to the left wing. and a missed layup. Just doing the job on the backboard. Arabia passes to Reeves. Good on the triple. You got to respect the three-point shooting of Reeves. He can be dangerous from there. Warriors leading by three. That’s good for his third bucket. Now three for six from the field. That’s a guy you want taking shots. A quality offensive player. Los Angeles has gone three of seven from three-point range in the first quarter. Back to LeBron to the middle and that’ll be two free throws coming up. officials on the call with the foul. It’s on Jimmy Buck. I know Reeves has been accused of hunting fouls before, Richard. Uh, do you see that? Oh, I don’t know if it’s all on Reeves. It’s just the way the game is played. Great players learn how to put you in position to foul them. The goal of the game is to score, and if that’s hunting fouls, then hunt away. [Applause] and he makes the first. Undrafted out of college, Austin Reeds has beat the odds and become an outstanding player. Stephen Curry, he’s checked in for the Warriors. And Los Angeles making a change here as well. Connect. He’s checked in for James. And Reeves drops them both. A minute 42 left in the first quarter. Pass to post. Now here’s Moody. Not a lot of room. No good on his first attempt of the game. Well, some trips you get the shot you want. It just doesn’t fall. I’d go back to him in that area on the floor. It’s deflected. Here’s Reeds and the layup is good after a nice lead pass. Reeves has got seven points. Nice concentration from Reeves. Never loses focus despite the contact. The Warriors leading [Applause] and 101 left in the first. Curry deciding where to go with it. That three off the mark. A team’s rebounding is a great measure of its energy and theirs has been terrific here in the first quarter. Connect. No good. Golden State’s gone two of five from three-point land here in the first quarter. Pass to Pajki. No good on the three. And here is Los Angeles now. They trail by one. Here’s Reeves. Makes it off the glass. Nine points in the game so far. I love how assertive Reeves is. He is not bashful about trying his luck inside. Curry with it. He’s coming off a 28-point game against Chicago. [Applause] Three-pointer. They get it back. The Warriors shooting their seventh and eighth free throw attempts for the game right here. And and as a unit, they’re shooting 78% from the line. That’s a solid number to work with on the season. Shooting two. First one falls for [Applause] off on that one. So he goes one for two at the line. It’s been all about Stephen Curry for the Golden State Warriors. He totaled 14 points in the quarter. He’s given them all the offense they need right now. We’ll take a quick break and then back to the action here. Some good action already in this one, but a fairly even matchup after the first quarter of play. And the Warriors, guys, what jumps out to you in this game uh statswise? Well, you can see these guys are unafraid to take chances defensively. Yeah, they’re putting pressure on all the ball handlers, getting into the passing lanes and showing great anticipation. And here’s Curry who brings it up for the Warriors in the back court. We’ll see Curry and Pajki. There’s Jackson Davis out there with Moses Moody. And it’s post in at the five roaming the paint. That’s the Warriors five. Count that bucket. Great job of screening there. Nice job to take it to the rim and get the finish. The Lakers trail. Reeves outside. Been a lot of contact on that one. So, he’ll shoot two. Here it goes on Moses Moody. Greg, you’ve been a part of some great contending teams over the years. But what’s it like being on a team at the bottom of the standings with not a lot of hope for the regular season? Well, Kevin, no one likes losing, but it can certainly take a toll. But it can also allow you to play more freely when you know you’re bad and you’re not having to deal with the pressure of expectations. And the first one drops [Applause] Both good from the line that time and it’s the Warriors ball. Looking ahead, they’ve got the Jazz coming into town for the next game. Curry with it. Out guarded by Smart. Curry gets the bucket. Just a wizard with the ball. Look, Curry’s creativity is just incredible. Reeves outside [Applause] to the paint. Here’s Vanderbilt. Reeves outside. Vanderbilt with the screen. Clock at four. Reeves finds Vanderbilt. The allaround game of Reeves continuing to develop. You just love that pass. Just over one minute has passed here in the second quarter. [Applause] Here’s PMski. He averages more than 12 points a game. That’s some dependable production. It’s Curry outside. Oh, Curry so accurate from three-point range. The offensive success is due in part to his quality shooting. He hasn’t wasted too many looks. Lakers trail by three. We’re closing in on two minutes played here in the second quarter. To the left side wing. Vanderville gets a wideopen look and he can’t answer back. The three-pointer offline. Now Jackson Davis. Here’s Poachki. And the three ball is good. And now a six-point Warrior lead. You can’t lose a shooter like him on the court. The ball will find its way to him and he will drill a three each time. Vanderbilt setting the pick for Reeves. Drives to the hoop. Pass to Vanderbilt and the dunk by Vanderbilt. Oh, an aggressive move and fantastic finish. Trying to send a message with that slam, I think. And guys, what do you think about the offensive approach we’ve seen so far for the Warriors? They’ve really been dialed in from deep. This is a team that has a ton of confidence in their outside shooting ability. And also, guys, they’re out musling their opponent. The points in the paint are piling up because of that aggressiveness on the free throw. No good. Warriors leading by four and a little under two and a half minutes gone by here in the second quarter. Misses in close for Los Angeles. They’ve gone two or three from the field here to open the second quarter. Reeves outside Vanderbilt. A screen on Kirk. Los Angeles with another miss. Warriors have gotten four of their first five shots to fall in the second quarter. Outstanding shooting. Three minutes of action so far in the second quarter. It’s hauled in by Los Angeles. Pass to Vincent. Here’s Lorabia. And here’s Reeves outside. Los Angeles with another miss. Now here’s Curry defended by Vincent. While he’s a bit undersized for four, he more than makes up for it with his balance. Here’s Reeves. He’s got nine. [Applause] Closing in on four minutes played here in the second quarter. Pass to Vincent. Now here is Humura D right on him. Just five on the clock. Back to Vincent. And again, no good by the Lakers. You’re not going to see that very often. Plenty of space, but he just, let’s face it, he whiffs on that one. But the bounce pass outside. Curry over Vincent. The inside game of Stephen Curry. Good at keeping the game simple. When Curry sees the mid-range Jay open up, he rises up with confidence. Pass to Hatchima inside and he’s fouled pretty hard on that shot, but he’s got the chance to pick up the points at the line. And with the offense getting right to the rim, at least they saved the layup. And this will be his second and third shots at the line here. And this season, he’s maintained very good form at the line, shooting at about an 83% clip. And the first one at the line is good. And they’re getting to the line a lot in this quarter, guys. And it hasn’t been by accident. So, both teams making some changes here. Vanderbilt hits them both. And here in the second quarter, he’s starting to work himself to the free throw line. That’s a good move. Curry dishes to Horford. Pass to Heield. Now Curry back to heal to the inside. Vanderbilt with the steel [Applause] to the paint. Here’s Reeves. Puts it up. That one’s in there. The Warrior lead is cut down to four on the bucket from Vincent. Always ready to put the team first. Reeves wants the ball in the hands of the most ready scorer. [Applause] And so Curry will bring it up for the Warriors. Pass to Santos to the middle. He with the bucket. He’s got six. They’re getting on a roll inside. Their last three field goals have come from the paint. Lakers trail by six and with it and here is Vanderbilt. He has six and a wide open look for James. James making it look easy from deep. Just zero hesitation from James trusting his shot. And here are the Warriors now. [Applause] Now here’s Curry beyond the arc. That’s a basket. His eighth from the field. Eight of 14. He’s going to force them to have to make adjustments. That’s number four in terms of triples in the half. James with it. He had 25 points in the win against Boston. And equally impressive on the backboards. I thought his rebounding was huge. Oh, Curry is so dangerous in transition. Yeah, and their shooting really starting to pick up here in the second. And while we’ve got a moment, let’s send it over to our terrific reporter, David Aldrich. David, Kevin, thank you very much. LeBron James is still dominating at an age where most players are well into their retirement. How does he do it? He said, “Show up, put the work in, and then go out and trust it.” I’m just trying to push the limit. See how far I can take this thing. It’s me versus father time. Kevin, back to you. And David, that’s one you’re always going to win against father time. Hey, thank you for the report. And so Steve Kerr calls for the timeout. Wants to talk some things over. Might be seeing some things to adjust. Heat. [Applause] Heat. [Applause] Green, he’s checked in for the Warriors. Jimmy Butler comes in for Moody. The Lakers also changing it up. Hayes, he’s checked in for Vanderbilt. Janette comes in for Austin Reed. And Donic is subbed in for Vincent. [Applause] Horford finds Green and Curry has it in the corner. [Music] And it’s Luca with the rebound. And got to like what they’ve been doing down low in the post. Here’s Connect. 20 points for him last game against Boston. And he’s good on the three ball. Now just a two-point Warrior lead. The defense a step slow. You can see the results. Healed outside, misses the three. And even without that three ball dropping for him, the defense should have done more on that last play. to the left wing down low. Curry with the steel in the corner. It’s healed. Here’s the three. It’s rebounded by Donic. Definitely a situation you want to make sure you don’t give him too good of a look. The score now all even. That’s seven points for Dalton Connect. And certain guys dictate the pace of the game. Donic as much as anyone. Golden State’s gone three of five beyond the arc since the start of the second quarter. [Applause] Outside Curry Curry through traffic. Count it. Oh, this quarter has been all his. I suggest they keep the ball in his hands. So, it’s the Lakers now. Pass to Hayes and he could not get that one to go. A lot of contact and he’ll go to the line for two and it goes on Draymond Green. It’s his first trip to the line. And of course, we’d all like to see his percentage at the line improve, but he just does not have the touch right now. He’s in the 60s. [Applause] That free throw no good. [Applause] And he’s good on the second. Golden State’s gotten a lot of looks from outside tonight. Five of 12. Green kicks to Horford. Off target from outside. And so it’s Dunic with it. He brings it up for Los Angeles. That’ll be off to Charlotte for a game against the Hornets. That will be their second of six road games for the team [Applause] from 11 ft away. And a little luck that time, but it drops. Eight points for him. Butler is smart and knows to take what you give him if the mid-range. Oh wow, that is powerful. And guys, I don’t know that this is the time for that kind of flare in a close game. The important thing is to get the two points, not necessarily the dramatic. Oh, come on. He had to go for that, didn’t he? My goodness. Here’s healed. It’s rebounded by Hayes. Lakers have gone eight of 13 in the second quarter. Well above the 50% mark from the field. LeBron, no luck. They timed up the layup perfectly. The D saw it develop and got there to B the shot. And so it looks like the Warriors will retain possession here. And we have to take another glance at that powerful rejection. And this is why coaches stress the importance of defense. Big block there in this close game. Pajki, he’s checked in for Curry. Aton, he’s checked in for the Lakers. Austin Reeves comes in for connect and so Steve Kerr calls for the timeout looking for a breather and maybe just one or two things to talk about. [Applause] Heat up here. [Applause] A chance now to check out how the Allstar voting is shaping up. And I tell you, the excitement starting to ratchet up a little bit as the tallies start coming in. Well, you look at LeBron James. He stands at number two in the Western Conference. The fans giving him the backing he deserves. No doubt about it. And and it’s been an outstanding campaign for him. And he’s got to be a part of that starting lineup. And it seems like the anticipation just continues to build each year around this time of the season. going to be a fantastic weekend. It didn’t take long for Pajki to establish himself as an elite charge taker. The funny thing about the game of basketball is that some things can’t be taught. Pods clearly has the it factor when it comes for the timing that it takes to draw charges. He can steal a few possessions for you every single game. First free throw is good. Gabe Vincent, he’s checked in for Donic. Kimky hits them both. Lakers trail by three. Pass to Vincent. Now here’s Aton. Now Hatchima five on the clock from deep LeBron. It falls for his fifth field goal of the night. Now shooting five for eight. When you’re guarding LeBron, you have to give him something. So the King, well, he’ll take a three-point basket. Here’s Green. He has yet to score. Pass to Heield. [Applause] Back to Green to the paint. Orford high post. Golden State moving the ball around. Goes up from the top of the key. Reeves with the rebound. And boy, have they been hitting the backboard in this game or what? Kind of surprising. It’s such a tight game. [Applause] Eighton sets the pick for Himemer. [Applause] That doesn’t go in. Had a chance though to take the lead. Golden State’s gotten half their shots from three-point range to go down in the second quarter. Three of six from downtown. Pass to Pensky. Picked by Horford. Takes a three. The rebound by the Lakers. Eightton’s got five rebounds tonight. Reeves with it and he gets the whistle. Two free throws coming up. And here’s what the schedule looks like for the Los Angeles Lakers. On Monday, they’re off to Charlotte to face off with the Hornets. And then on Tuesday, they’ll be facing Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers. And you know, for that Knicks game, it’s a chance for them to come out and knock off the top dog in the league. A win there can be a big step forward for this team. And that one falls. And that puts him up by one point. Connect. He’s checked in for Los Angeles. That one is no good. Shooting it quite well. 52% from the field in the second quarter. Pass to Horford. There’s 48 seconds left now here in the second. Green against Hatchim three-pointer heel. Reeves with the rebound. Okay, so if I were to say this was a disaster of a period for him, it would be an understatement. But hey, sometimes you got to shoot your way out of the slump, even for him. The Lakers have attempted 11 free throws today and converted eight of them. You’ve got to appreciate their ability to make free throws. 81% as a team. [Applause] And he knocks down the first one. And they’re really getting more points at the free throw line here in the second quarter. [Applause] Payton hits from both. Some big guys struggle at the line. Not him. He’s put in the work to defy that assumption. We’ve got 22 seconds left in the first half of the game. Back to Pajki. Nailed from three-point land. Pompeki’s got 10 points in the game. And getting going here in the second quarter. His second three-pointer of the game. Here’s He doesn’t hit that one. It’s been all about Stephen Curry for the Warriors. A grand total of 28 points for him in the game. Now they have no answer for him defensively. It’s time now to go courtside as we send you over to David Aldridge from the sideline. David, take it away. Thanks very much with Steve Kerr. What did your team show you in the first half? Well, they played hard, but that’s expected at this point. That’s who they’ve proven to be. Well, we got to be smarter. We got to play better, especially transition. Uh, defensively, I don’t think we’re ready to to defend in transition. So, we got to get better with that. Well, we’ll see how fast you can get back as the game continues. Back to you. All right. Thank you, David. And folks, don’t go away after the break. We’ll see you right back here for the start of quarter number three. [Applause] Since we got a little time on our hands here, uh, you guys got any, uh, big plans for tonight? Not me. I’m just going to take it easy. I’m pretty worn out. Yeah. You’ve been burning midnight oils, man. You’ve been hitting the clubs or something? Nah, just putting up with you guys. It’s And now revisiting that first half for Steph Curry. He was lights out. Well, he’s not letting the defense chase him away from the shots he wants. He’s dictating the action and he has the team in a good spot because he’s been so efficient with his scoring as well. That’s a good way to maintain your lead. And that’s a halftime wrap. Let’s get back to the second half with the call by Kevin Harlland and the crew. And we’re halfway through this one. Plenty of basketball left in a game that’s been fairly even so far. Curry has been sensational. Yeah, he’s just been raining down on him from deep here. Talk about dialed in. If I’m his teammate, I keep feeding the hot hand, especially since he’s been on fire from deep also. And so Green will bring it up for Golden State. Taking a look at Los Angeles outside the wings of Reeves and James. Hatimura out there with Eightton and it’s Donic in at the one. James finds Hatchima and Aton throws it down. What goes upon will throw down. They knew just when to pass him that ball. The Warriors trailing. Healed outside. [Applause] Some nice passing by Golden State to the middle. [Applause] And there’s the whistle. 3se second violation. Taking a look here at the numbers for Curry. The past month has been surreal. Averaging about 27 points per six assists and four rebounds. And he does so much for this team. But it starts with the way he leads the offense and he’s willing to take on the scoring load. And look, he is more than capable of delivering. Los Angeles has gone seven to 15 from three-point range tonight. They’re not afraid of that shot. Here’s Donic. And there’s another one for the Lakers. And when Lucas sees the mid-range open up, he he takes the shot. Keeping things simple. [Applause] And if you’re just joining us, we play it over a minute here in the third. Curry laser guided shot from deep range. And that’s backto back threes, but D just seems to be slacking off a little bit. Eighton the pass to Donic. [Applause] Locket six. Al Horford with the rebound. Horford’s got rebound number five here tonight. Heel kicks to Green. Eighton against Horford. Pass to Curry for the lead. Lakers with the rebound. Reeves left side. And that one good. Reeves has got 12 in the game. And this has been a nice start to the second half. They’re three out of four in a rhythm on the offense right now. And now around two minutes gone by in this half. Curry dishes to Horford. Reeves against Teal. Green up on top. Hasn’t made one yet. Five to shoot. Green with a screen for Heel. No good. That would have tied it. They are losing because he is struggling so bad and he has not looked comfortable all game. And finished off by LeBron. The veteran smarts of James understands how to absorb the contact and still finish. And Richard, you’ve watched LeBron James over the years. His approach never waivers. It never changes. He is all business all the time on the court, off the court. The consistency of his focus and mental toughness is unbelievable. [Applause] Well, Richard, you were a teammate of LeBron James’s, winning a title in Cleveland with him, playing with LeBron. What was something you learned about his game and about him? Well, I learned that he takes the greatness that has been bestowed upon him as a gift and it is a curse, but he understands how to handle both. And we’ve got a timeout called by Steve Kerr. He’s made the decision he wants to huddle up with his guys. Heat [Applause] up here. Here now is the 2K leader. board. Over the past month, these teams have tortured opponents defensively. In third, the Warriors. What a month they’ve had defensively. I mean, they’ve really gotten after it on that end of the floor. A touch over two and a half minutes of basketball played here in the third quarter. Pass to Curry. Fires the three. Burries the long range jumper. Curry’s got six points in the quarter. And this has become expected from Curry. Everyone knows how dangerous he is at getting to his spots and capitalizing. Lakers leading by three. Now Donic. He’s got seven. Eight is Freon Kirk. And here is Hatche Murray. Here’s Aon. Shot clock at six. And here’s LeBron outside. Jimmy Butler pulls it in. Golden State’s gone two of five with the three-point shot since coming out of the break. And James will bring it up for Los Angeles. Their defense has only allowed six points in the second half and the shot is good. They are just killing them on the interior in the third quarter with just over three and a half minutes off the clock. Healed the pass to Green. Now Curry lets the three fly. Good. And it’s Green picking up the assist. Curry’s got nine points now in just the second half. That’s a dozen straight points coming off the triple. Dichic finds Hatchima and the rebound goes to the Warriors. Green’s got his fourth rebound with that last one here tonight. Healed outside. Outside Curryford sets a screen for Curry for the lead. Honic grabs the miss. Lakers have gotten five of eight shots to fall for them in the third quarter. A nice 62% from the field. That’s the kind of aggressive and assertive play they need as we get closer and closer to crunch time. Warriors trail by four. And here is Curry. 37 points for him. That shot off. Some solid defense from Aton [Applause] Reeves against Teal. And we’re going to have a jump ball. It’s tied up there. You two [Applause] back to Donic. 20 ft out and the jumper is good. Donic has got the lead up to six now for the Lakers. And right there you see the decision making ability of Hachimura sets his man up perfectly and the Warriors with possession here outside Horford. They kick out to heel. Corford with a screen on Reed. Six to shoot. Two free throws coming up and they call the shooting foul. This guy plays tough in close. Horford. Oh, this man’s a beast. The Warriors have gone nine of 10 from the line, so making the most of their chances. The first one falls. The Warriors making a switch here. Jackson Davis has checked in. So after making the first, he goes one for two. Lakers leading by five. LeBron outside. [Applause] Pass to Eightton. Good. And the assist goes to LeBron. Aiden’s got 14. I’d love the confidence. Aiden knows he must continue to hone his jumper, especially shooting it off the catch. Outside, Curry. Lorford sends a screen for Curry. Good on the three-point shot. Curry’s got 40 points. And even though they’re down, it’s not on him. He’s been lights out on offense for them this quarter especially. Curry against Donic. Eight. A screen on Curry. Anj passes to Reeves. The Lakers moving the ball around. Tried to come right back with a three of his own. It’s no good. In the corner. It’s healed. Back to Curry. over Donic and that one hits back iron. Los Angeles leading by four. Here’s Hatchima. And the dunk by Hatchima. Oh, what a finish. Rury showing off that athletic ability. Golden State’s gone to the three-point shot eight times already in the second half and hit four of them. out to the wing and that one clearly a foul. Gets the whistle and two shots coming up. Let’s quickly check out the scoring breakdown here for the Lakers. Ah, they’re moving the ball around. So, well, guys, quick passes, letting the next guy do the work if you don’t have a look. Another place they’ve had the upper hand tonight is in transition. They’ve gotten a bunch of their points off the fast break. First free throw is good. And free throws have never really been an issue for Butler. Makes a living at the line. Los Angeles making a switch here. Loravas checked in. Good on both. [Applause] Lakers leading by four. Pass to Eightton. Now Reed. Here’s Lorravia. Oh, good with the triple. And they had some boxed coverage that turned into no coverage. Butler loves the three-point look. The defense is far too slow to close out on those three-point attempts. LA’s gotten blank from three-point land so far in the third. Still 0 for three. The three for Donic. Gets it to drop. And now he’s shooting at a five for eight clip. And there’s no shortage of fight in Donic. He’s a counter puncher. Hit him with a three and he is coming right back at you. Healed outside looking to get back on track. He count it and the foul. That one on Aton and giving up some inches inside but makes up for it with an aggressive style. Yeah, you can give up some size but that shows you how fearless he is willing to attack the basket no matter who is in front of him. [Music] [Applause] [Applause] And so it’s Donic with it. He brings it up for the Lakers. They lead by one. Here’s Reeves. Good. And the assist goes to Donic. Donic has got five assists tonight and obviously his momentum from the last game has carried over here tonight. He’s just riding the wave of momentum right now getting to his spots and keeping things simple on the offensive side. And let’s check out some stats for Horford. He’s been a factor for them over the last month. He’s around 14 points per game, six rebounds, and three assists. He’s been making the right decisions and and letting the game come to him. Solid play all around. Yeah. Not playing outside himself, but finding lots of chances to do his thing and affect the game. No good on the free throw. Vanderbilt’s checked in free. Make sure you get the good on the second free throw and the Lakers have possession. A two-point game. Pass to Labraia. Donic feeling it out. Here’s Lorabia. Down to five on the shot clock. Vanderbilt. The pass to Donic. And it’s sent back by Horford. Still a tremendous player. Al Horford using Yes. Okay. Wow. Old man LeBron James getting acrobatic, putting on a show. I see you, big fella. And that’s life above the rim courtesy of our AT&T 5G Slam Cam. Outside Horford [Applause] outside Curry from the arc. A rebound by the Lakers. LeBron’s got his seventh rebound of the game with that last one. [Applause] shooting foul. As the whistle blows, he’ll shoot two free throws. Yeah, easy call. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. [Applause] and he knocks down the first one. Smarts checked in for the Lakers. [Applause] And he makes both free throws. [Applause] Warriors trail by six. Pajki with it. 10 points for him. Here’s Post. Vanderbilt defending. Just five to shoot and Post gets it to go. It it really does make the game easy for your teammates when you can lead them to the rim that well with a pass [Applause] outside pass to Vanderbilt. He lobbs up the Elliot pass. Reeves gets the bucket. Reeves has got 16. The Warriors have gone seven to 15 from the field here in the third quarter. We’ve got 148 left here in the third quarter. Jimmy jumping his way through. A legendary competitor. Butler with no fear taking it hard to the hoop. There’s a minute 40 left in the third quarter. Here’s Reeves and good. He got the English that time as it falls. 18 points for him. Okay, let’s throw out the analytics for a moment. When he’s taken the mid-range, it’s a winning shot. Pass to Moody. Outside. Curry fires from deep. Vanderbilt with the rebound. Vanderbilt’s got six rebounds in the game. Reeves the pass to Labraia. The shot no good. Warriors trail by six. [Applause] Pop top. Moody still scoreless. Curry against Reeves. Back to Moody. A three. Good. And Curry gets the assist. Curry’s got four assists now tonight. And perimeter scoring. I have to imagine it was a topic of discussion at halftime. And you see this so much more nowadays in the NBA. Teams putting a larger emphasis on jacking up threes. Vanderbilt setting the pick for Donic inside and the dunk by Vanderbilt. He he’s just adept at gutting the defense in these sets. Give Donic a passing lane and he’ll thread the needle. The Warriors shooting here about 46% for the game. 8sec difference between the shot clock and the game clock. Here’s Curry with the three. Drills it from outside. Curry’s got 43 points. And he has been on fire this quarter in terms of his scoring. Hopefully that fire spreads to his other guys and they can rally. Curry against Don. Vanderbilt a screen on Cer and here’s Dage from the Art. And that’s when they say you can’t teach tall. This is where size helps you owning those rebounds on the defensive end. We’re at the end of the third and we’ve still got a close one. Lakers lead by two. Live from Chase Center, you’re watching 2K Sports. While we have the chance now, folks, let’s go to our State Farm assist of the game. Yeah, and I I like the fact we get to see this pass one more time. A magnificent feed. And you love to see your offguard taking over the playmaking duties with this much skill. Not just playing selflessly, but also making a smart decision with the ball. Three tanks quarters behind us. One more to go. Thanks for being with us as we begin the fourth. In the back court, we’ll see Curry and Pajinski. Moody is out there with Trace Jackson Davis. And it’s post in at the center position. That’s the Warriors five. One shot. [Applause] impeccable from the line since halftime. Warriors trail by five. Here’s Pajki. Here he goes. Pass to Jackson Davis. Oh, good on the triple. And it’s Smart with the ball for the Los Angeles Lakers. On the wing, James. Wow. The athleticism of LeBron James. Now, look, a coach is going to trust LeBron James to just put up monster numbers cuz that’s who he is. But it is nice to see him get into a nice groove like this. [Applause] Here’s PMski guarded by Smart. And two free throws coming up. Unable to get that one to go with all the contact. Rui Himura picks one up. No question he got bumped on that shot. [Applause] No good on that one. and he sinks the second. Los Angeles leading by six. Pass to Labraia. And here’s Smart. He’s defended by Pajki. Draps in the train. He can really stroke it from deep. You have to keep better tabs on him. We played just over one minute here in the fourth quarter. [Applause] And here is Moody. Golden State moving the ball around. Jackson Davis with it. And Hatchima picks him up defensively. Curry good. Such a quick release. As soon as the ball touches his hands, it’s gone. Lakers have gotten all three of their shots to drop here in the fourth quarter. They came out of the break on a roll. Pass to LeBron and he can’t extend the lead to double digits. Well, after the show he put on in the first half, you thought it would continue, but he’s cooled off a little bit here now. Here’s Pachki. Trains it from beyond the arc. Yeah, that’s too good a look to give him from behind the arc. Here’s Laorabia. Hatchima with it. Fires from the corner. It’s hauled in by Jackson Davis. Jackson Davis has got his seventh rebound of the game with that last one. And the call on the shot that sends him to the line. [Applause] And he can’t get the first one. Buddy heel. He’s checked in for the Warriors. and the second free throw. Good. Los Angeles leading by three. Pass to Labraia. [Applause] We’re in the fourth quarter here. Just under 2 and 1/2 minutes gone. Lock at six. And the Lakers with another miss. And they’re up right now. But it hasn’t been because of him. He’s really struggled on offense. Finished by Stephie Curry. And this offensive explosion has narrowed the gap. LA’s gone one to three from outside the arc since we’ve reached the fourth quarter. Smart deciding where to go with it and that’s off the glass and in. Smart’s got his first basket of the night from that in between range. They’ve been the much better team. Pass to Moody. Here’s Post Curry with it to tie it up and it’s LeBron James with the rebound. James has got rebound number eight now on the night. Here’s Laorabia. [Applause] Now Vincent LeBron passes to Smart. Just five on the clock. Now here is Himura. [Applause] And the rebound goes to the Warriors. Jackson Davis has got his eighth rebound here tonight. And even though he hasn’t been himself, it hasn’t affected his team too much, they’ve still got the lead. And you want him taking big shots for you in big moments. That one was as easy as it gets. Yeah, it’s clear why they go to him in these moments. They know he’s going to deliver for him. To the inside. Here’s Vincent. Had a hand on it. out to the right wing to take the lead and good as it just snugs right down through the net. Look at He’s unselfish approach. He’s working to find everyone to look, not just himself. And so it’s Smart who brings up the ball for Los Angeles. Down low. Here’s James and the dunk by James. It’s been a tight one so far. Very close game and matchups. It’s really what it’s all about. And these two teams are really equal. Here’s Golden State now. They’re on a 12 to4 run right now. Here’s Jackson Davis shooting foul as the whistle blows. He’ll shoot two free throws. The first one falls and the Warriors making a change here. Pompeki’s checked in. Second free throw. No good. I know he’s kicking himself for not snatching the lead, but look, he tied things up. Donic right side. [Applause] Shoots it. misses the jumper. Warriors have gone five of seven from the field since the beginning of the court. Strong work at that end of the floor. I mean, the range is just unreal. Curry can make even the toughest shots look easy. Now Reeves [Applause] pass to Hatchima. [Applause] Now here’s Donic. Oh, Donic long range. This is his second three this half. He’s getting even more bold at that arc. Vajky with it. [Applause] Here’s Moody. He’s covered by Hatchima. Goes up on the wing and again and he’s up to 52 points. Yeah. Making a GA look all too easy right now. [Applause] Reeves outside [Applause] and they double up. Donic. Pass to Hatchima. Clock is at three and the three off target. Here’s Golden State. They’re on an 18-7 run. And here is Curry. Back to Pajki. Moody. The pass to Curry and he’s fouled pretty hard on that shot, but he’s got the chance to pick up the points at the line. This just demonstrates how fearless Curry is. Look, he knows how to get inside and draw plenty of fouls. And a chance to catch up on some numbers here. The hustle stats for the Warriors. Great heads up defensive play tonight, creating offensive opportunities for themselves by forcing deflections. And I’ll tell you, the energy they’ve shown in the open floor, boy, it has been terrific. Doing a phenomenal job converting in those situations. First free throw is good. And you know, with Curry, what impresses me most is his efficiency. That’s not something we normally see in a high volume jump shooter. Looking at who’s out there now for the Warriors, Al Horford. He’s checked in for Trace Jackson Davis. Green comes in for Moses Moody. And it’s Jimmy Butler in for Brandon Pajki. And so he makes both from the line. A multipletime champion and relentless competitor. Curry’s drive to be an all-time great. Well, he’s pretty much there. Pass to the Warriors pull it in. You can’t look at the result of that shot. They’ll take that whenever they get it. Yeah, it’s a great look for him. One they’ll try and manufacture again. Those are the shots you want him to take. Let’s take a second look at that fantastic block. Yeah, quick thinking pays off big. What a block. Los Angeles making a switch here. Hatchimz checked in. Curry. Here’s Heield outside. Curry. Golden State moving it around. They kick out to Heel. Connects from three-point range. And the Warriors lead by seven. And certainly they are not hesitating letting it fly from deep here in the second half. Here’s Hatchima. And the dunk by Hatimura and proving to be effective around the rim. Hakimura leaving no doubt about that one. And it’s Curry with the ball bringing it up for the Warriors outside. Green [Applause] back to Curry. [Applause] And he makes the first. [Applause] Stephen Curry hits them both. Lakers trail by seven. Pass to Eightton. [Music] Reeves with it. Here’s Hatchima. And so the ball’s out of bounds. Hachimura touched it. Lance. Horrible mistake right there. You hate to see unforced turnovers like that. Warriors leading by seven. Healed outside. Back to Curry. and he drops in the way up off the glass. Curry’s got 58. He’s been the guy tonight. Really impressive performance. Now, Donic, [Applause] Reeves outside. [Applause] Donic against Curry. [Applause] This is as good as it gets from the charity strike here in the second. Shooting two. [Applause] And that one misses. The all-around game of Donic is impressive. A walking triple double threat every night. [Applause] And he’s good on the second. Warriors leading by eight. [Applause] Outside Green. Curry against Donic. Corford with a screen on Donic. Curry outside. Here’s Horford. Off target there. That would have pushed the lead to double digits. Really surprising to see the huge edge they have in rebounds given what the scoreboard says. Good. Oh, you expect Ruie to finish that play, but when a guy is this open, he makes a quality pass. [Applause] Donic against Curry. Right side. Green. Pass to heal. off the mark there with the three-point shot. Lakers trail by six. Here’s Reeves. Yes, and it’s LeBron picking up the assist. James has got three assists in the game. A guy who will do what it takes to get his team what they need. Reeves steps up and the Warriors with possession here. Healed outside. Green with a screen for Heield. Sinks the three-pointer. He’s got eight points in the quarter. Three-pointers are killing them at this point and they haven’t been able to respond at the other end. It’s stolen by He’s Green. It’s hauled in by Los Angeles. Donic has got six rebounds in the game. Reeves in the corner and the Lakers turn it over again. And we’ve got a timeout called by Steve Kerr. And clearly an important junction. He’s going to have some choice words with his team. [Applause] Heat. [Applause] Heat. [Applause] With a short break in the action gives us a chance now to send it over to David Aldridge. Hey guys, I was able to catch the message Steve Kerr gave to his team. Now, coach told his team, “We’re up. Take care of the ball. Don’t give them the game. Playing smart basketball will clinch a victory for us, guys.” Thank you, David. I think burn some clock if they want to and get a little breather as well. Here’s Curry and good. There’s another 60 points. This guy cannot be stopped. They’ve had no answer for him in this one. [Applause] And so Donic will bring it up for the Lakers. They trail by nine points. It’s stolen by Green. And here we go. Fast break. Curry’s got it. Horford dishes to Curry. [Applause] A minute 15 left here in the fourth quarter. The anticipation is there for Luca on defense. Pass to Reed and he could not get that one to go. Lot of contact and he’ll go to the line for two and it goes on Draymond Green. Yeah, the defender all over. [Applause] heads the first and that brings them within eight. [Applause] and Reed drops them both. 141 left to play in the final quarter. Curry against Donic. [Applause] Shoots from the elbow. Curry can’t get it to go. Lakers trail by seven. [Applause] Now here’s Donic. shoots over Curry, takes the 12-footer and hits. Donic has got 15 points in just the second half. Golden State’s gone four and seven with the long ball here in the fourth quarter. [Applause] Curry against Dun. Curry can’t get it to go. LA has gone two of five on three-point shots since the end of the third quarter. And here’s James outside. It falls and he has brought them to within two points. And you can’t get a bigger bucket than that. What a huge play coming through when it matters most. Up top, Curry by Donic. And the Lakers have possession to take the lead. Al Horford with the rebound. a chance here to possibly put it out of reach. This is when you really need to maintain your focus. And Butler no stranger to these pressure situations. A big time gamer who knows how to take over on key possessions. And JJ Reick is called timeout. Pivotal moment in this game. He’s not taking any chances. He’ll call time. Heat. Heat. [Applause] [Applause] 27 seconds left in the game. Donic and he overdid it there. Too much force it looked like on the foul and he’s called for the flagrant. Boy, a very hard foul that time and the officials had to slap him with the flagrant. I mean, you can’t let him get away with that kind of contact. Yeah, G. That’s an easy call for the officials to make when there’s that much contact. The league is really cracking down on those sort of plays. He hits the first one and that narrows the lead down to just three. All free throws good from Donic in a tight game. He is exactly who you wanted at the line. [Applause] 24 seconds left in the fourth quarter. James finds Hatchima. Pass to Aton inside. Here’s Oh my goodness. What a play. Oh my. Oh, that’s an oldfashioned rim wrap. Just a remarkable jam. These fans jaws are on the ground right now. And so Steve Cerr calls for the timeout. This is a huge moment, folks, in this game. And he wants to be prepared. [Applause] Heat. [Applause] Heat. [Applause] Heat. Heat. Here’s Curry outside. Green. Count it. And JJ Reick is called timeout. No doubt he is feeling the importance of this moment right now. What do you think we’re going to see here? Well, you need the three here. A quick one. I mean, very quick. Has to be catch and shoot. One fluid motion. A very difficult shot, but it’s it is definitely not impossible. [Applause] Heat. [Applause] Heat. [Applause] And here’s Donic from the arc. Oh, he couldn’t make that shot go to force overtime. So, it’s a narrow victory for the Warriors pulling out the W. What a show they put on here at home tonight. I mean, these are those games that feel so great to win and and really it’s like a knife in the gut to lose. You You got to love being on edge of your seat and just wondering what’s going to happen. How is this thing going to play out? And now, let’s catch up with David Aldridge who’s standing by from the sideline. All right, Dave. Thanks very much. Draymond, when you look at the stat sheet and why things work tonight, what are you looking at the most? Turnovers. That’s the key to the game. Look at turnovers and how many free throws they shot. They weren’t able to set their defense. We didn’t turn the ball over. We were able to set ours. Those are the two things I look at. Certainly sounds like the foundation to victory, man. Congrats again. Back to you, David. Thank you as always. And that’ll do it, folks. And so for Richard Jefferson, Greg Anthony, and our reporter David Aldridge, I’m Kevin Harland. Thank you for tuning in to watch the NBA on 2K Sports. But first, let’s reveal our player of the game, Stephen Curry.
