  1. I never stopped playing, aside from breaks due to injury. I really couldn't play confidently or competently until I reached my 20's. Basketball is my ultimate stress reliever. For however long I play I completely flush out everything else that's going on in my life and just focus on the game.

  2. As someone that has played with Chris since 2012, 2013-14 Chris beats all other Chris variants. Dude was at the peak of his athletic powers with well-developed passing skills and defensive smarts and had fully recovered from the hip injury.

  3. I'm about to be 33, Diagnosed with small cell lung cancer. I hoop when I can. Usually 3x's a week. I'll ride my bike to the gym to get a warm up in instead of driving. It's my safe space also. Been playing since I was 4 years old. Even with all the treatment I've still found a way to just get to the court and be able to shoot. Granted it would take a lot out of me but I never want to not have the game. It's a healing thing mentally.

  4. Crazy! People who have seen me play over the last 20 years say that im so much better now on the court which is true! I too would give my younger self the business!!!

  5. Great review. X-Plate is actually top loaded. You can feel it if you take the sock liner out. But I totally agree. These transition and flex so much better than the issue 6. Much more natural.

  6. Been watching since around 2013-14 ish. I was around 15 then. I'm 27 now. Man it's been a ride. Like you said, 27 isnt that old. Still in my mid 20's. But my shin has just been killing me. And i cant move like i used to. Its hard when your the type of player who's the "hustle man", the "defensive stopper". I cant keep up as much as i used to. My mind keeps up with the play but my body just wont. Even still, i enjoy the game. Its an outlet like most of us here. Its where everything else fades. I just hope getting much more older wont suck as much as being 17 to 27 physically. One good thing about aging is i can now afford to get shoes and stuff. Got my collection now. Lets just keep loving the game until we cant. Love from the Philippines.

  7. When I was freshman in HS, I was watching your videos since the Jordan 28th. Although I didn’t get them, I always enjoyed watching videos like they were comfort videos. Now I got adult money, I hoop in 2 Kobe 6s lol. Appreciate you pumping content over the years.

  8. QOTD: I wish I was 27, too. General fitness always helps, no matter the sport. Check out the Javorek Barbell Complex #1—you'll find it easily by searching for it by name. And everyone should learn how to warm up, stretch, cool down, and recover.

Personal preference and how a shoe interacts with each individual wearer's foot and body will always be the defining factors for best performing shoes. One of the things Chris loved about the Don Issue 7 (the glove-like fit from the zip-up upper) is an immediate disqualification for me, because I'll get blisters easily from a shoe with poor breathability. I also dislike any kind of full-length structural overlays on the upper because when they crease, it causes irritation on the top of my foot. My dream shoe is something with a sock-like upper and a dorsal retention strap. I look for zero heel slippage (but the design of the collar at the heel can't irritate my Achilles), excellent traction, and a balance between bounce and shock absorption—but not too much of either, because I'll feel like I'm running in quicksand and losing energy on each foot strike. Those are the characteristics of a shoe that allows me to forget that it's there and move efficiently and confidently, and that may be totally different from what someone else is looking for.

Thanks for the video! Seven thumbs up for the algorithm. See you soon.

  9. I’m also 27 and stopped years ago bc of injuries ( to this day I still have more ligaments torn than not) now I’m 40lbs + and probably my lowest point both mentally & physically. Thanks to therapy I learned the biggest hurdle for me is accepting I’ll never reach the athlete I was, but there’s some level that’s still obtainable. I’ll probably never dunk again but being able to job for a few minutes without taking a few days to recover would be pretty dam nice. Hope you all can hold on to the game as long as you can🙏🏾

  10. For the algo! Guess the D.O.N made an offer you couldn't refuse. Love his models and they are very easy to get in many sizes due to him not being as popular of a player (I say that with him having a 7th model lol). Hoping they make a version of this that has the Harden 9 "Molded Leather" typer material, now that would be crazy. For the QOTD, what keeps me motivated to play is I don't think there's ever a good time to stop dreaming or believing that you can't make life worth living. Hitting the court is so much fun, I feel like a youth again, it just invigorates my drive and keeps me centered despite what is going on around me in life. Plus it helps keep me fit. Thanks for the vid!

  11. I played rec league ball until I was 29, broke my elbow playing. Got back into rec league ball in 2023 at the age of 42. Tore my ACL last year and plan to get back into rec league ball at the end of the year. Wouldn't have done it any differently. Can't wait to get back at the end of the year and ball.

  12. I’m a sucker for gradient colors and ombré colors. I’ve been playing in these the last 2 days and they’re awesome! The fact that the zipper STAYS UP is the icing on the cake.

  13. Seems like every hooper stopped or took a break when their first kid was born😂 Completely agree on the keep going part, great video as always!

  14. basketball was a passion of mine during my teens through early 20s. I stopped playing when i was 26 cause i was dealing with a lot at that time and felt that i wouldn’t play again. Started shooting around in my early 30s during the pandemic, instantly felt that joy and excitement i had back then. basketball has always been a safe space for me. Im 35 now and still playing with guys that are 10 years younger. Same with Chris, i may be slower and less athletic, but im a better player now than i was before.

  15. I had a 20 year gap of playing, actually started again when my kids were born as surfing was no longer an option (dont have a spare 4 hours). Unfortunately my body didnt match where my mind still thought I was – a 17 year old super fast springy ball of energy. So it was quite an adjustment playing a slower, more intelligent game. Then for my 40th birthday I had the diagnosis of osteoarthritis in my hips so was told to never, NEVER, play any impact sports (exercise bike, pool swimming and cross trainer were the most extreme things I was allowed to do) . Talk about getting old quick. I didnt accept that advice though and after years of strength and mobility work am now able to play actively again, although any aerial acrobatics have been grounded. I'm currently wearing through a couple pairs of Puma TRC Blaze which I got off the back of Chris' review. I'd definitely buy a third pair if they were still available they are that good. So thanks Chris, your journey through bad knees and getting older has helped my get back into my game.

  16. I have seen these but wasn’t sure if I’d like them. If I get another pair of ball shoes I just might give them a go. Thanks
