Kareem was the world's best player from his rookie year in 1969 through 1982 when Moses in 1983 was the world's best player and won Dr J a ring. Kareem really deserved the season MVP every year in MKE. Wes Unseld, Dave Cowens and Bob McAdoo are all HOF'ers but they're not better than Kareem was. I was young and saw KAJ at UCLA and the NCAA wouldn't allow KAJ to power slam the ball. Yes it was ugly the same as it would be ugly if in the 2000's the NCAA wouldn't allow the college players to slam the ball , it would make the fans angry and reduce tv ratings and ticket sales plus the the other arena revenue would be diminished too.

Tickets were cheap back in the day and I used to go to the Chicago Stadium to see the Bull games. Chicago and Milwaukee had a great rivalry going though one that the Bulls usually came out on the bottom of. I have said over many years, if you didn't see Abdul-Jabbar when he with Milwaukee, you don't know what great means. Seeing this feature is reminding me of how fluid young Kareem was. Even by the time he got first got L.A., he wasn't the same guy anymore, and sorry about that. Time and gravity get to everyone, and sooner than you think. Kareem was 28 when played his first game with Lakers.
If the Bucks would have been allowed to sign Dr.J to go with Oscar & Kareem he may never have left the Bucks and they may have had a run like Jordans Bulls , but they the NBA veto the signing and Why they wanted Kareem in a bigger market

No one wins an NBA title alone and neither did Kry Baby Kareem (stopped, threw his arms around and whined over every single foul ever called on him!!!). One title in MK and none in his first five years with the Lakers – so one title in his first ten years in the league. Then along comes Magic, Worthy, Wilkes and other great role players, while playing in the weakest Division in NBA History. Lakers basically had a bye into the Finals for a decade while in the East, teams like MK, Philly, Boston, Atlanta and Detroit had to kill one another to reach the Finals where a rested Lakers team waited on their exhausted and injury-riddled opponent. No sports caster ever talks about this!!

In the 1968-69 season Wilt Chamberlain had season highs of 66 points,42 rebounds and 23 blocks, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar over the next five years and playing at the peak of his career and against the same cast of characters in the NBA never came close to matching those numbers. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is the greatest centers of all-time; despite playing just 6 seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks is amazing. He basically gave the Bucks their first ever NBA title in franchise history. However, I will say today’s centers still can’t do his signature hook shot in a game literally. The Bucks did retired his number in the rafters forever, so no player will ever wear his number ever again. He helped his teammates and always put the team first.🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀
He did not produce better number s than Wilt. Please be honest. No one put up numbers like Wilt. What is unfortunate is blocks and steals were not tracked throughout Wilt's entire career. He would have averaged quadruple doubles in multiple seasons.

As a kid in Los Angeles, Jerry West was my first NBA idol. I saw Kareem as Lew Alcindor dominate the NCAAs at UCLA, and then terrorize the NBA from day 1. He became my favorite player when Jerry retired.
Although he didn't win 3 MVPs in a row, like Russell and Wilt before him or Bird after him, or 4 out of 5 seasons like Russell and LeBron, he won 5 in 7 years. He was simply greater than great. Few know just how great his first 10 years were. Right up there with the highest peak of anyone, and as a two way player.
Wilt Chamberlain said he was 'the most potent offensive force I ever saw.' Enough said.
