The Mavs are STUCK with AD. Basically traded Luka for nothing
It is foolish to stay in a bad marriage. The AD situation is the same. Get the best deal you can by the trade deadline. His trade value will continue to decline with each season. Waiting for a monumental return is foolish.
Let's hope if he isn't traded this year that next year when we have a totally healthy team that he might have an injury free season like KP had when Boston won the finals. When he plays he is an All Star.
No Marc, there's no way the Mavs get a reasonable return for AD. Therefore – trade AD for anything offered is what I would do…. Keeping him makes no sense either, but my guess is the Mavs (Mark Cuban – and yes, he is back) will keep him and "HOPE" AD gets healthy and will opt out of the last year to sign an extension that makes more financial sense. thanks for the video.
Just shut him down for the year. Organically tank and come back next year with AD Kyrie, Flagg and a new draft pick.
I would take anything that includes first round picks. You have to move on from him while you can, because otherwise you are stuck overpaying him for him being injured all the time.
MAVs don’t want KP. He’s hurt more than AD.
Stein that's the Sunk Cost Fallacy.
AD needs to be traded for anything. He's not going to help build for the Flagg future. The Luka trade was for AD and Flagg. We all know the lottery was rigged for making that trade.
Trade him for even a single 1st. Trade Washington, trade every respectable veteran and restart the team.
Im hoping bro is traded and we just saving him
Stein nailed it… they have to stay in the lottery. It's their only controlled pick for the next 6 years. That has to be their number 1 priority. That is more important than "getting a perfect return" for AD.
With that being said, if you cant get anything of value for him… rest him. If he's sore, he dont play for 3 more games. Limit his minutes when he does play. Play more of your younger players for experience. You dont bring Kyrie back at all this season. You have to tank. The lower the ranking the better. If successful, you get your top 10 pick in a loaded draft. Then Kyrie & AD comes back healthy. Flagg has a year under his belt in the Mavs system. You come back next season, healthy, hopefully another star rookie, and try to win as many games as possible. Nembhard backing up Kyrie. Lively & AD back & healthy. Flagg & your top 10 pick.
If anything, I would like to see them made trades this season for next season… like can they get a pick or young player for Klay. How bad does Indiana want Gafford?
This team with AD, Kyrie and Flagg playing isn’t finishing in the lottery. If they get healthy and crawl up to the 7 seed they could make the 2nd round.
Take what you can get. It’s a net loss. He is unreliable. Yes you do just trade him. Get KP and a couple future picks and move on. You lost the Luka trade. Don’t try and win or salvage it. Just dump him. They only have their pick this year. That’s it. Nothing for 4 years.
Delaying the decision to the off-season makes absolutely zero sense. You are going to try and win in a season where you have a pick just to dump him in the offseason and be bad in a season you don’t have your pick. That’s how the Kings run their front office.
Flagg, a quality young guy from the 2026 draft, Christie, Nemby, PJ, Lively, etc……AND 100/M IN CAP SPACE IN THE SUMMER OF 2028 IS THE DREAM!!!!
That is the template for a team that will be really good in October 2028.
I know it’s three years and watching AD AND KYRIE limp off the court for the next 2 1/2 will be depressing but hold fast and stick to an intelligent, patient plan that makes sense.
Here’s the definition of patient again.
It describes every mavericks fan.
able to accept and tolerate delays, problems and suffering without becoming annoyed and anxious.
That is me and most of Dallas lol.
BTW there is no way in hell either KYRIE OR AD is opting out of their 2027-28 option years. NO F***ING WAY!!!
So let’s make the best of it over the next 30 months and reassess in the summer of 2028. When Flagg is an MVP candidate and the Mavs are relevant again. It could still work out. Keep the faith. One day we will be celebrating Klay, AD and Kyrie’s induction into the hall of fame.
He has got to play for a sustained stretch this season before we decide to do anything. I can't believe he may not play tonight, unreal.
When ad plays he is an all star and he is healthy and plays close to 65 games. He is a superstar!!
People just ignore that they him next year because tanking isn’t an option.
Cut your losses. If you can get expiring contracts & some combo of picks, do it. The best return for AD hinges on him being healthy. When is he consistently healthy? There is no PERFECT AD trade. Move on, financial flexibility is plenty good & allows u to reset & add to the core of Coop/PJ/Max/Lively/Naji/Nembhard/Cisse. & picks are picks. Even "bad" ones have value
I think a young contributing player now is more important than the draft pick. All these people saying trade ad for anything will be the first to turn on this trade next year when Cooper drops 40 in a a loss and they look at the box score and Ad in Atlanta had 35 and 12. Fans are still in their feelings about the Luca trade and want a tank. But when the clock starts the next season people going to be looking around saying where the players at. And if there's not a squad around Cooper this fan base with riot, just like they did with Luka.
Trade AD if and only if deal is good, no reason to give him away just for the sake of it.
