Spurs are BEST team in NBA right now with Victor Wembanyama & De’Aaron Fox | Spurs-Thunder Reaction

Jason reacts to the San Antonio Spurs beating the Oklahoma City Thunder on NBA Christmas Day for the second time in a row and third time this season. He explains why Victor Wembanyama, De’Aaron Fox, Stephon Castle, and Dylan Harper are such tough matchups for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Oklahoma City Thunder and why the Spurs are best in the league right now.

  1. I hear you. And you're my first point of reference for analysis BUT I don't think they're better than OKC. I think they're having a good run. They're great but OKC are apex predators, they'll figure it out. I concede I will possibly be wrong, just my gut feeling.

  2. knicks beat them recently. And wemby was pushed around by mitchell robinson on the boards. I dont see why the knicks are not the best team right now, honestly.

  3. MAILBAG: I asked this question a few weeks ago and I didn’t see a response so I’ll ask it again now that it’s more obvious lol. With Wembys (And The Spurs) huge leap this year. Is this potential the last chance KD BRON & 30 have to win a championship?

  4. By the end of the year we will realize the Nuggets, Spurs, Wolves, Thunder and Pistons are all nearly evenly matched. The outlier is the Nuggets because they lack youth and athleticism. But all the other teams are very similar. Athletic perimeter defenders that can clunk up the other teams offense all game long.

  5. Are we starting to see a shift in how to Win in the NBA due to the new salary rules? Get yourself a max veteran player and you are shackled in this market. There are enough good younger players that are two way players so that if you pay that veteran, your simply depleted. Before last year, it was VERY rare for young teams to win in the regular and the post season, now we are seeing youth win outside of Denver where the greatest player of this age is making that team a competitor. But the best teams are all young, which was not the case in the past.

  6. No, they're not lol. They're just the worst match up for the thunder right now. Its all about match ups, thats all🤷‍♂️ They are good and fun to watch tho. Bright future if healthy.

  7. Jason loves to jump to conclusions, he had Denver as the champs this year. Regular season wins don’t matter in the playoffs. The wolves dominated the Thunder in the regular season and got destroyed in the playoffs. The lakers dominated the wolves in the regular season and got dominated in the playoffs. Huge point differentials are still the best indicator of playoff success.

  8. soo we just going to forget about the final cup match? Also the Knicks were down 2 important players

  9. I guess the Knicks dont exist in the NBA. Lol.
Spurs went all out. Knicks played terrible and still won. Lol
But lets not facts interfere with the point we're making.

  10. If my Spurs can finish the season with top 10 3pt efficiency they'll be in the inner circle of contenders. That's their biggest weakness and while they're built to generate great looks, so far it is tough to tell if they can consistently knock them down or have just run hot. The second biggest weakness is turning it over, but with more health and continuing to mature that's improved tremendously and I feel good about them sustaining that growth.

  11. I also believe that it's overreaction on Spurs. I know they are cooking right now, but I just don't think they are offensively that much equiped.

  12. As a lifelong spurs fan of 28 years now i can honestly tell you WITHOUT A SHADOW OF A DOUBT that we did NOT see this coming for at least another 2-3 seasons. Im ultra positive about my spurs every single year and even I had them as a bottom 6-8 seed this year, as did everyone here in San Antonio we thought this would be the year we ended our playoff drought not potentially end our 11 year Championship drought…for sure a shocker but i couldn't happier about being wrong.

  13. True spurs fans like myself knew we were going to be the best. It's the naysayers that said oh spurs have a guard lock, oh spurs have years to go before contention. Spurs called the bluff and are just showing what we all saw here in San Antonio

  14. Weren’t you on the side of 🦊 being overrated ? The spurs shouldn’t have traded for him? Wasn’t tht you ?😂

  15. De'Aaron is probably going to be remembered in a similar way to Wemby that Robinson did for Duncan. Different positions granted, but as far as an old head that helped elevate the new rock of Spurs teams that are on the way. Robinson had a more storied career in the city but I doubt many outside of San Antonio will care much as the years go on because they never even made the finals before Duncan's second year.

  16. …i had them at a top 3 seed…i had the lakers as a 7-8 warriors 8th or play in…denver okc top 3… Rockets wolves and clippers 4-6…sunsva play in team…and after November i knew the spurs could beat the thunder…i thought the spurs would lose on Christmas by 10…the spurs are as deep as okc they're just as good on defense the difference is we have more scores…and they're making it a point not to foul sga or get to close to him so he wont pull his foul bating tricks… and the refs see through that already…

  17. The question is whether other teams can replicate anything the Spurs did against the Thunder. There are ways to beat this team, but you gotta play a certain type of basketball

  18. Here we go again okc was the team who was going to win the championship just because they had a good record not even 25 games into the season now it’s the spurs

  19. You must talk about Lu Dort OkC.

Some NBA referees have either become outdated or are simply incompetent. How can we tolerate Lu Dort's (OKC) criminal calls? It's appalling and shocking. This guy should be kicked out of the NBA immediately

  20. If the Spurs make some more gradual improvement (Steph Castle's 3PT shooting, Wemby's offensive decision making, etc) they are going to be even scarier than they are now.

  21. Crazy thing is Wemby is 21, Castle is 21, Dylan Harper is 19 and the Spurs are developing behind the scenes Carter Bryant who’s also 19

  22. On Dec 1st there were 4 teams ahead of the Spurs. Well, the Silver & Black have beaten each of them – Houston, Denver, LA, and the Thunder (3 times)! Let there be no doubt, the rebuild is over. San Antonio is back!
    GO SPURS GO!

  23. Its 2014 spurs again. But the big difference is the team is younger… just teamball and no egos

  24. OKC can play much better and Spurs can’t. Spurs fans don’t even know that wemby off the bench playing 2nd string players has optimised them.

  25. Can't wait for the Knicks game at San Antonio. Knicks better bring it or spurs gonna snatch their championship hopes. Make them question themselves.
