BAD HABITS: Orlando Magic BLOW 21-Point Lead—Why the Magic failed in CRUNCH TIME
The Orlando Magic seemed set to celebrate a big win and Paolo Banchero’s return to form. Then they went silent on offense in the final 7.5 minutes and fell to the Toronto Raptors 107-106. The same bad habits that have plagued the team in the last few weeks since injuries set in continued to haunt them as they got outworked on the glass and in transition, setting up their collapse down the stretch.
Can the Magic regain their momentum to finish this road trip and avoid letting their progress slip away?
Right now, inconsistency is winning the day for the Magic as they struggle to build their defense and offense and get contributions from key players every night. The Magic are not displaying the effort that has defined their program.

Congrats to Paolo for playing off the ball and having a good game, however the coaching staff is to blame for this loss. The Magic played good defense in the 1st quarter holding Toronto to just 18 points. After that the Magic just started to slack on defense and got worse as the game went on. They were giving up fast breaks and allowing Toronto to get 2nd and 3rd chances to make missed shots by allowing them to grab numerous offensive rebounds. My question is what the coaching staff do to try and fix this problem. Absolutely nothing, they kept the same rotation and did not look at others on their bench to help solve the defensive and rebounding problem. Noah Penda outside of Mo Wagner is an excellent offensive rebounder, yet the coaching staff did not use him much at all. In addition, Jonathan Isaac and Jet Howard were not even looked at as an option, what is going on with this coaching staff, they are so inconsistent in coaching and are out coached more than they out coach opposing teams. Shaking my head
Like all contenders the Magic understand that the season doesn't really start until the playoffs.
Paolo starting to finally figure out how to play in this offense we might start to see paolo getting triple doubles on the regular, sucks we loss I know ppl like to crap on JI cause of his offensive struggles but his defense and rebounding would had been huge for us tonight..
That's how u separate good players from great players great players close out games not disappear in clutch time
The vibe seems off with the team, something might be brewing………🤔
Not Wagner nor Suggs will solve our coaching problem… They might sweep it under the rag for a while, but when it matters the most, it will show again. And then, unfortunately it will be too late… I hope I'm wrong, but Mose is the real problem of this team…
As always Magic can’t get out of their own way. P5 isn’t getting paid to be in his feels…he just got a bag…play ball!
No excuses, this comes back to coaching. Not holding guys accountable and making adjustments. We wasted 7 of the 13 seconds left in the 4th, just for Paolo to do a step back 3. We blew a lead, if guys do not execute you pull them out and hold them accountable. I’m tired of it Phillip, we have the talent. No excuses, injuries are not an excuse. Injuries didn’t matter when we went up 20
Funny when we lose it’s Mose fault and when we win nobody got nothing to say. Mose didn’t give up 20 offensive rebounds and blowing 20 pt leads. The players need to hold themselves accountable they lost this game and should’ve lost the game against the Jazz.
I'm so fucking sick of this shit!
I think the Magic needs to use Poalo in the post on half court sets. during the games sometimes he will naturally get foul calls we can kick ball out to shooters or cutters
Paolo claimed to not have his joy, sounds like some Jimmy Butler stuff! Should we worried?
I was in disbelief watching that 4th quarter, amazing throw by us
Our offense hasn’t been consistent since Mosley took over. Yes, defense and energy are important but so is PUTTING THE BALL IN THE BASKET.
If we could replace as many finger rolls, trick shots, “seeking contact” shots, and fall away scoop shots with straight forward dunks as possible that would be something. Go hard to the hole with two hands. Same thing goes for rebounds.
that last play should have been a drive to the basket. No excuses. either Mosley called a tough fade away three, or Paulo didn't execute.
What happened to Bane or any of the star Magic players down the stretch? Oh Yaaa The Rappppss tencious Defence and aggression !!! I love the Magic's physicality but The Raps (CMB + Scottie) gave them a little taste of their own medicine
That was one of the harder 4th quarters to watch we most def could’ve won, We should went for a drive instead of a pull up 3, but i put that on everyone tho we gotta to score way more smartly rather than run P&Rs we had plenty of time and chances to run a play but went for quick plays
🚨While the outcome of a game often rests on the players execution, the coaching staff is ultimately responsible for the loss because they failed to adjust their offensive strategy during the fourth quarter collapse, allowing the team to abandon the ball movement that built a 21-point lead in favor of predictable isolation plays. Furthermore, the loss falls on the coaches because they drew up an ineffective final play that forced a contested shot in a clogged lane, proving that poor late game management and a failure to stop the Raptors' momentum were the deciding factors in the defeat. 🚨
When a pro team only scores 4 points in the final 6 minutes of a game resulting in a loss, the head coach's sorry excuses are inexcusable. Look in the mirror Mosley. He was the problem last night. I do not remember one free throw in the final 6 minutes, I did not see moving the ball around much and much, too much dribbling, I did not see player movement, I did not see open 3 pointers. This is Mosley's offense. Mosley's offense, or lack thereof, lost this game. Paolo had a bad last 6 minutes, possibly worse than AB but both were by- products of a coach's bad offense. Mosley may be a players coach but we have seen that does not necessarily translate into victories. Better shooting, especially 3 point shooting will produce victories but this year has not shown much, if any improvement there. I have very little confidence Mosley will ever have an offense that is championship caliber.
Paolo was paolo and I'm glad he was willing to take the shot. He settled into bad habits in the 4th and that's what lost us the game. He just gotta be consistent with his new playstyle and we will roll.
Why has P5 been playing with no joy? Is there an injury maybe a sickness? He looked like he could cry in the post game conference. How do you not box out YOUR man. It's nuts.
Philip, never forget that blatant illegal basket by Ingram that the refs NEVER OVERTURNED. Their explanation? They missed it. HOW COULD THEY MISS THAT? Not saying we lost only because of that but it made A difference in the final score after all.
Mo Mo's, Mo Problems
Banchero is shooting 3's at 22%… and much worse on step-backs and other forced threes, so no, it was NOT the right shot. It is the shot we ALWAYS lose on.
As a raptors fan I would say the magic played great the entire game. But not so much that they were missing shots in the fourth it’s more so that the Raptors put out their best defensive players and there was no weak link from PG to Centre. Just a bunch of dawg that sits down on defence. Hopefully next time both teams will be healthy.
