@benrogers brook lopez or gafford dont work. they make too much money. it defeats the point of getting under the tax, it puts the raptors more into tax. which means they dont get their mid level exception and Mamu walks for nothing in free agency at the end of the season because the raptors cant afford him. lopez is 37 also and is washed and has back problems of his own that kept him out most of last season.
gaffords 14 million salary is too much to cover without gutting your bench. mavs also want a young player (cmb) and a first for gafford.
magic wont trade goga also, so you can forget that idea. goga is their reliable back up with mo coming off acl surgery. why would the magic trade away their reliable back up center?
Jay huff would be nice. He’s quick for his size and could easy play starting minutes but Indiana is one of these stubborn teams to trade with. They would likely ask for some kind of package around Walter or Dick instead.

Raps were NOT over. But they were very close to it. Just under 150k under. Sandro and Garret were signed with exception use. Bamba has them over if he isn’t cut by the tax calculation date as he’s non Gauranteed. RAps have natural options to get under. It’s one of the limitations of Hoopshype and other salary lists – they can’t know exception usage and lots of reporters just look at the chart and make assumptions.
They are shopping Ochai because they cannot resign him. He’s an RFA at the end of the season. They won’t have room to keep him and he’s at a position of duplication.
I want to see JV for Ochai. Denver is in a better way to use Ochai anyway. And Jokic and JV are currently out. If they were Healthy I say Denver doesn’t move JV – but there’s some wiggle at the moment.
also suns want to trade nick richards for less money to get under the tax. so they wont take ochai. so gradey and a 2nd for richards wont work even. he makes too much. it would have to be jakobe walter and a 2nd for nick richards for the trade to work.

Raptors has targeted him before he was traded to Portland for Anfernee Simons.
There was a rumour of Barrett and the 9th pick (CMB) for Holiday when he was with the Celtics. Glad they turned that offer down.
Chauncey Billups wanted Jrue but since he is not there (legal issues) I think he can be had for IQ plus Agbaji and a first rounder. In terms of their contracts, they are comparable. IQ is also 9 years younger so Portland may be interested in him.
