The Kevin Durant Trade Was NOT Supposed to Go Like This
The Houston Rockets traded for Kevin Durant from the Phoenix Suns right at the end of the NBA Finals this summer in a move to try and compete for a championship. Instead, the Rockets are playing bad basketball over the last month and a half while the Suns are thriving with Devin Booker and Dillon Brooks at the helm and have overtaken them in the West standings. It’s a crazy twist on the trade that nobody was likely expecting.

The rockets are a developing team , they thought by getting kd they could skip the development phase, but you can’t , this is our timeline not kds
I thought it was a mistake to trade brooks he is younger a leader and a defensive player things kd is not. I also thought suns would be the same and the rockets would get worse but that both became more balanced
It was a massive mistake. Thank you Houston. 😅
and jalen green has only played 5 quarters this year, he's coming back soon…
As a Suns fan, I enjoyed watching KD play. He’s graceful and very artistic on the court. But his game can be likened to paintings by someone like Leonardo da Vinci. Beautiful on the outside, but when you peel back the layers and look at it real close, you see the small cracks and the wear of age. KD turns the ball over way too much anymore and only plays defense when he really feels like it.
KD has proven to not be a leader and the #1 since OKC. He was too young and maybe if he stayed and don’t jump toGS I’d see him different and I think that team if not blown up does at least get one ring. For Houston I do blame him. Man would get credit if they were good…He needs to find a way to inspire the team and help change the culture. Crazy that brooks inspires the suns more than KD did. You also didn’t mention that we (suns) are doing all this without Jalen Green. Not saying he makes us better cause we have yet to see! But his is taking up salary cap space that could be used for two more players or another solid #2 or #3.
I always tell the young ones the Rockets example of the importance of having a point guard.
This guy is so unbiased, it’s obvious that he’s an OKC die hard fan an he’s not showing any hate to KD, giving props to Jokić and Denver and congratulating Suns to beating his team. Maturity at it’s finest, hope we will see you in WCF coming from a Nugs fan
This is why team construction is important, I don’t blame kd for the way that team was constructed they had no center for the longest can’t win like that but rockets really need a pg
as a nets fan It’s never suppose to go like this.
Excited to see the team with Jalen Green for more than 30 minutes
At this point it’s no coincidence that every team KD has played on has underachieved and every team he’s left has been better off. It’s time people stop defending KD and start having some serious conversations..
Suns played more games than the Rockets and eventually win more games in the end. People really underestimate how much Fred VV impacted this team and was supposed to be a key to the team with KD.
I was very skeptical about Ott as our new head coach but he’s proven to be an amazing hire. Could be our best coach since Monty.
think of the different levels houston would be if they got curry instead of kd tho? its not kds fault its just not the seemless fit a playmaking guard wouldve had
4:31 I heard that so wrong
I disagree with your point at 11:35 sorry.
I feel like so many teams rush their young core and it ruins their chemistry and shortens their timeline. I’ve seen this over and over again. Last year okc won the championship, and pacers made the finals, arguably both those teams “just sat around” (I think being patient is a better term).
I was concerned when they traded for KD (not thinking he is worse than Jaylen Green or anything), just concerned what the impact would be to a successful young team that introduced a new star of the team. I would have preferred they run it back a couple seasons and let them grow together
why do people think trading good young assets for kevin durants, russel westbrooks, james hardens, carmelo anthonys is a good thing. like i always thought it was a nba casuals thing but analysts, nba youtubers, avid nba enjoyers legitimately think doing this will result in a chip
What team has gotten meaningfully better with Durant since GSW? Or lived up to expectations?
I think he has been on 3 “contenders” since the good old days.
Idk about anyone else, but when they had that early success in the season i was definitely surprised, i always knew this wasn’t going to work
I knew the suns would be better soon as they got rid of KD’s whiney ass
