I don’t even know how to attack this at all but I’ll do my best, I suppose lol. Cade not a “pg” talks in 2026 is just factually incorrect. He’s literally top 3-4 at his position in the entire league. Does he need a secondary ball handler/playmaker? Yes. But Cade not being a “pg” has just been proven wrong atp. Also, any offensive issues this roster faces has more to do with roster construction then it does with Cade running the show. We’re one of the better offensive teams in the league when Cade is on the floor. He’s like a +10 net swing when he’s on the floor as the lead guard. The fact that Cade can even function as the lead guard with the spacing limitations this roster has is a testament to him as an offensive player, which includes being the primary ball handler and primary decision maker. I’m all for criticism of players or the team but this just feels misguided and just factually incorrect too.
That Suns game was an aberration because they haven’t played in 5 days Cade was super rusty coming back from injury I wouldn’t use that as a measuring stick. I do believe Cade is a point guard and I do think Jenkins runs the show really well so we’ll see how things get handled going forward. No need to panic the Pistons are waaaaay ahead of schedule.
Cant no eastern conference team beat us 4 out of 7. Not one. Not new york, not boston, not Cleveland, not Toronto. Non of those teams can beat us. Now the west is different.
Team ranks 11 at assist so we're above average. We don't need point guards. We have no problem passing the ball to the open guy. We have a shooting problem. What good is it when you pass the ball to Holland at the corner? Opposing team knows he can't shoot. Ausar can't shoot. The only shooter Duncan is guarded heavily. What do you expect Cade to do besides lobbing to Duren or score himself? We need reliable shooters.
Cade has been playing point guard since he was 7 yrs old, literally. Now does he need to be better, & cut turnovers, yes. He’s a point guard and his processing of the game is one facet of his game that will guaranteed get better with more time. Trust
I disagree, Cade is a point guard. Played the position his whole life. But the reality is his game is not as well rounded as we would like it to be. Two holes in his game: He has too many turnovers and he doesn’t finish well at the rim. He can and will get better in both those areas in time. What we’re going to have live with is he’s a volume scorer; not a shooter. His touch is not great. He would be all world if he could become a 38% 3 pt shooter and be a consistent 90 % free thrower. But 5 years in , he is what he is…but it can be good enough to get a chip with the right pieces around him!
