Comment Section Rules
Respectful Dialogue Only: Disagreements are welcome—encouraged, even—but keep it mature and thoughtful. Ask questions, spark conversation, and debate in good faith.
No Lazy Takes: Don’t just shout into the void. Comments like “X player sucks” bring nothing to the table. If you’ve got a take, back it up. Explain your perspective so the discussion can actually go somewhere.
Collaborate, Don’t Demean: This space values smart and constructive basketball conversations. No insults, trolling, or toxic behavior.
Keep It Civil: Avoid profanity, hate speech, and inflammatory remarks. Treat everyone with basic decency, even when you strongly disagree.
One Strong Preference (Read This):
Take some pride in how you write. A few typos are fine—we’re all human—but if your comment looks like it was written with your eyes closed, I’m calling it out. If English isn’t your first language, no problem. But if it is, let’s raise the bar. A good coach helps you get better on and off the court—same deal here.

What moves do y’all want to see Dallas make?
They need a big guard that will orchestrate their offense. I suggest trading AD + Max + a 1st for Luka, a win-win trade. 😂
Trade AD as soon as you can get ANY VALUE
Could we trade Gafford and get the Hornets to give us back dallas's 2027 first draft pick?(If it's not enough plus LAL 2029 first)
If this year's draft position secures them a reasonably high pick, I think they'll focus more on winning next season.
At that point, their center seems a bit weak.
So I haven’t finished watching yet but a disabled player exception doesn’t give a team an extra roster spot. It just gives them a salary cap exception
As a Mavs fan trading AD should definitely be the way forward. Not just for his funky on-court fit next to Coop, but mainly due to his impending extension. I already don't feel confident with AD's contract moving forward, but adding even more years at a high price point to it completely turns me away from the AD business. It's a shame, he's extremely talented, but with the way he landed for us it was never going to work out sadly.
Also, I think the majority of Mavs fans would rather trade away Caleb Martin than Naji Marshall. Caleb Martin has been atrocious since coming him, although he's been dealing with injuries since coming here, and has only started to look like an NBA player in the last few weeks. Naji however has arguably been our best overall player since the Luka trade, and the culture and energy he's brought into the locker room has been great. I hope he stays here for a very long time.
I might be in the minority or I may be missing something. But I'm not sure why the Hawks would want to move on from Porzinigis for AD for the same reason the Mavs prefer Porzinigis. (I'm typing this mix video, so you may come to the conclusion the trade won't happen)
Paying so much luxury tax for a team which won't be competitive in the next two/three years, this is non-sense. I would start blowing the team to decrease the salaries by trading the players who won't be in the timeline of Flagg. The main goal would be to get some assets from all these veteran players.
As a lifelong fan thank you for this post. And apologies cause I’m gonna post a lot here. This is one of those rare moments where it’s not weird to talk about all this stuff. Lol
3 parameters to look at for discussion. As you said Mavs do not have control of their pick again until 2031 so blowing the team doesn’t make sense. Second, we are going to be a second apron team next year if we don’t pick up some expiring contracts in mid season trades. Third, if Flagg is the future then this roster is poorly constructed and not aligned to his timeline. We need youth, potential and players who compliment Flagg better. In my mind that’s 3&D floor spacers and upgrade playmakers.
Right from the start I want to move AD at all costs. We have 25% of our team salary wrapped up in a guy who is likely to play 30 games per year with an agent playing hardball to get him an extension and a raise. I fully acknowledge the talent of Anthony Davis but at this point in his career his contract demands and his reliability are really not close enough to work for Dallas.
Next, do not trade Kyrie unless he tells management he wants to move. God willing he retires a Mav, we name a street after him, put his name up in the stadium and he either goes into broadcasting or front office after he retire. Dude is an all time great. Dude is beloved in Dallas. Dude has been very good to us. And dude is going to be a really positive influence in Flagg’s development.
Gafford, Washington and Marshall are good players on good contracts. Considering we don’t control our pick for 4 years, we only move them if we get really good value in return. This is not a fire sale.
Love lovely but 7 footers with chronic foot injuries usually don’t bounce back and at the end of next season Lively is up for an extension. Love the guy but the math isn’t good. Unless you have insider info with team docs I’d be really careful with Lively.
Move Klay for an expiring if it gets him to a contender. Not because he’s worth nothing but because he is an all time great and deserves a better final chapter to his career.
I like Max Christie but side doesn’t shoot much. He isn’t aggressive. Either coach him up to be more aggressive with his shot or don’t fall in love with potential.
They have to much talent to tank making trades is the only way to get bad
I follow guys like Windhorst and Shams and all the usual suspects in the nba trade rumor mill. The Atlanta and Toronto trades seem to have the most legs. Pistons need floor spacers more than AD and the warriors don’t have the contracts.
With Hawks If take expiring. Contracts of zkzp and Kennard, Asa Newell and the Hawks second #1 this year which will probably be around 20. Hawks won’t give up their 2027 pick still, this makes us better. Newell is an exciting young player who played high school ball of some sort with Flagg. There will be some really interesting guys available around 20. And freeing up 40 MM+ in cap space frees up some really interesting possibilities for us. Not talent for talent but I still think it makes us a better team.
Toronto would be 2 of Poetel, Barrett or Quickly. If we could trade one of the two we take to someone like the lakers for expiring contracts I’d do this deal too. Worse option than the Atlanta scenario but better than keeping him.
FYI if we do a deal with the Bucks (huge long shot) then get Jericho Sims in the deal. I know he is an end of the bench guy but I’ve always believed he could be a contributor in the right situation. Probably not a starter but I think there is more to him than we’ve seen so far.
