Really bad Victor game

Who been on tear recently. Why? The OKC one their pick so we want em in the play in then hopefully in playoffs do they can at least give OKC some kinda fight in the first round. Otherwise they missed playoffs they could literally give top 5 lottery pick to OKC in a loaded 2026 draft.
If they're taking that many 3's then add some good jump shooters….Champagnie is rhey only one we really have

Man, Vassell was missed this game… wished Mitch a dominant strategy driven coach who'd call a timeout and check these players to drive in the paint/shoot the mid-range n boxout for the offensive rebounds. The transition points n second chances completely killed any chance of staying/keeping the lead. Until the spurs fix these growing problems n coaching woes… let's just say a final is far out of the horizon.

I don't understand why Mitch didn't use the challenge. There were couples of bad decision from the referees. We should not lose this match.

Against really good teams we seem to default to mass bad basketball IQ. Our collective shot selection doesnāt help. Tighten it up already.
Don't understand why the Spurs continue to post Victor up at the elbow or higher, that first game against Dallas he was posting up at the box. He made Dallas pay for not doubling him and when they would double he made the correct passes to open teammates. We have yet to see that again this season or after he returned from his injury. The Spurs allow opponents to guard Wemby with a smaller defender, which is fine for our opponents out at the three point line or the elbow. Wemby also needs to stop falling to the floor all the time, I believe he was on the floor more than 8 times tonight. It gets old and makes him and his teammates look soft. The refs get tired of the non stop dropping to the floor bit by Wemby. We didn't play tough in the fourth quarter against Houston. We have done this same song and dance several times this season, weak offensive shots late in the game and not very physical on defense. We have better find some toughness somewhere, because all the shooting in the world is not going to lead to victories if we are as soft as we have been many times down the stretch of games this season..

I hate losing to Houston!!! Smh this game was bull shit after the 3rd smh. Wemby went cold and too many bad turnovers and bad defense.
This is becoming a concerning pattern for the Spurs…they're CONSISTENTLY giving up big double digit leads and it's leading to bad losses…it's to the point, where I CRINGE when we get big leads, especially in the 1st half bc I know the Spurs will take their foot off the gas instead of STOMPING on their throats…this is becoming a UGLY pattern/bad habit…
We have seen it get like this before, many times and the problem is that they either find a way to squeak out the win or lose. Itās too many blown leads the same way regardless of how well or poorly Wemby plays, Iāve said this for over a year stop letting them just settle for 3ās down the stretch regardless of how well youāve been shooting in the first half. You have to slow it down move the ball around milk some clock and get quality shots not just 3ās. But Mitch upsets me just because there may be a 15-20+ point lead the team has going into the second half and he just allows the team to do whatever until theyāve just about shot themselves out of the lead then with about a 4-6 point advantage he calls a timeout.

Victor just doesn't have a go-to move. It's really just that simple. Every super star has a go to. KD's mid range, Steph's 3pts, SGA, push off mid range, Michael Jordan's mid range, etc.. He needs a go to

'No' shooting is not the problem. The problem is shot selection…we do not need to be takeing 50 3 pointers in a game. It is ridiculous! The other part of the problem is that the refs are amatures who do not respect Wemby, not to mention all the other non calls. The NBA product has looked better.
We're at the bottom of the NBA in 3pt% yet we are firing 3's like we are the Celtics. And can we please get flashes of the Wemby from the 1st game of the season where he was dominating in the paint offensively??? His 3's are nice but if they ain't falling he needs to be able to get easy shots in the paint. Speaking of easy shots in the paint, it still feels like Castle and Fox aren't finding him consistently when he gets a good position down there. The man's 7'5", but it feels like Kornet gets more lobs than he does. Coaching is also a problem with too many blown leads coupled with questionable rotations. They need to get all these issues addressed before the Playoffs or it'll be a short run.
I donāt understand why Mitch isnāt calling plays for Wemby like Coach Pop called for Timmy in crunch time of games.
How many times when we needed a basket, Pop called ā4 downā which was Timās play to post up on the block so that the offense went through Tim in crunch Tim and Tim would either take his man one on one or if the opponent doubled or triple teamed him, he would kick out to an open teammate.
Instead, we keep settling for long 3 point shots when the shot isnāt falling. We shot the ball well from 3 in the first half thanks to Julian but once the shot didnāt start falling and we started forcing 3 point shots causing Mitch to have to take multiple times outs we still keep shooting 3s. You would think we would change our approach and try to take all our shots in the paint especially posting up our truly unguardable F/C Wemby.
Totally agree. Devin Vassell is sorely missed. The last three loses where we gave up a big lead and lost, Iām convinced we would have won had we had Devin in crunch time.

The Spurs take way too many 3 point shots. I can understand it if weāre stock piled with consistently good 3 point shooters. The reality is that we have 3 good 3 point shooters (Champagne, Barnes and Vassell) and a whole bunch of average but streaky shooters at best. And one of those 3 point shooters has been hurt leaving us basically with just with 2 and one of those two (Barnes) has been struggling lately.
On nights when the shot is falling from deep for all, we look amazing with that kind of 3 point shot volume but we die by the same 3 point shot on most nights.
The majority of our points need to come from the paint and thereās no reason it shouldnāt with the athletic guards/wings we have and Wemby and Kornet.
As soon as teams start packing the lane by playing a zone look to try to take away our drive and kick game, we get away from our attack mode and start just throwing up shots from way outside.
Whereās our motion offense? Why is the ball movement stopping? Why arenāt we posting up Wemby on the block? Why arenāt we running high/low offense with French Vanilla? Thereās so many different things we could be doing to continue to attack and get to the free throw line but we stop doing those things and just hoist up long shots.
Yes, it's gonna happen. Especially when you do not have a true Post player ending the last minutes of the game. We are gonna go dry even with Wenby, from time to time.

I warned about this same thing…Wemby playsbsoft too often, amd the more he does, the more teams will know all they have to do is play him physically and he won't attack the rim, block shots, nor rebound anymore…he will stick to taking jumpers and hoping the rebounds go to his teammates…this can be fixed by Mitch having wemby go in the low post when they put wing players on him and TELL him to attack the rim (you know…be an actual coach)…if this isn't fixed, Wemby will simply end up being a soft player

I totally agree with you on the Wemby part. He's supposed to be the guy who can contribute both ends even when he's missing the 3s. But to me now, it looks like we are gambling on the three-point line (especially Wemby). For any 7'4 guy, it should not be like this.
No oneās talking about it. Vassell is injury prone. This is becoming a problem. When he comes back from injury. His shooting is way off. Itāll take him the whole regular season to get his shot back
