Castle made rising stars family he will be just fine.
Not to make you excuses but despite our horrendous play since the OKC ass whippings in reality OKC N esp the NY Bricks have not been the same team. Also will history repeat itself? Meaning Da New England Patriots won their first Super bowl 2002 the Spurs front office called em to congratulate em who for those who do not know the Patriots called up Spurs to congratulate em when we won our first in 1999 N since they had a tradition of calling each other after the big win. Spurs just like Patriots have sucked since they started rebuild N now Patriots R on verge of surpassing Da Steelers for most Superbowl wins. We our on verge of surpassing the Bulls N Warriors if we can start a new Dynasty. Who thought Patriots b title contenders just previous year?
Coaching problem
Bro ngl im sick of Hb get him out of here he hasn't been doing anything AT ALL, and the fact he's STARTING 🤦🏿♂️
I will be extremely surprised if Spurs don't make use of the Trade deadline
Hey Keenan, D Fox has to share the ball more than what he did sacramento & mainly playing out of position not giving him the chance to pick and play with Wemby. Players ate dictating & not the coach.
Right now, Mitch rotating lineups are awful!!! Players dictate the game and you can't win that way!!!
You all freaking out over some writer writing that we dropped 1 spot in the rankings not that the rankings mean a damn thing. Nobody here not even the guys talking on this broadcast thought that we would be where we are right now we're more than halfway through the season: the west is tight it's gonna be a tough pool and we damn sure didn't think that we had a shot at staying within striking distance of Oklahoma city either. If this team is gonna make a trade we have got to get something where we don't have to give up the ranch everybody's talking about training our draft picks how we gonna build our future ? Anybody ? Anybody got answers for that Anybody
All we need is more minutes for Bryant and SOCHAN instead of Barnes in the starting five and we will be fine.
It was inconsiderate not to mention that Jones Garcia was selected to participate in the Rising Stars. He is a Spur, you know. Did you not even read the headline?
Excellent show and great analysis of the team’s and Castle's problems. I am convinced that if the Spurs collectively decided to cap their 3s at 25 per game, they would win many more games provided that they have a good backup plan with their 2s:
1) pick and rolls Fox/Wemby
2) way more midrange shots
3) more simple efficient layups
4) more KJ, Harper and Bryant and less Barnes/Champagnie)
5) more presence around the paint with Kornet and Wemby TOGETHER
It reminds me of the strategic choice that the Nuggets had to make to crush Miami in the 2023 NBA finals: they shot less than 25 3s per game and relied primarily instead on their greatness at 2s with Jokic, Murray and Gordon. It’s the example the Spurs need to inspire from because their offensive strength and greatness derives from 2 pts shooting, not poker 3s.
Need to let Keldon and Castle run the second unit
Why do you think Sochan is not getting minutes at all? Wemby doesn't like playing with him?
We get out rebounded and the Spurs are not physical enough when teams play aggressive defense and offense. Our players are just not physical enough, they need to play Sochan and Carter Bryant. They are physical and get to lose balls, rebound and get nasty when needed.
Castle played better before Wemby came back. The answer is obvious. Bench Wemby. ( :
This is coaching FFS. Too many threes and still using the 7’5 cheat code you have standing there like some sort of mid role player. Frustrating.
Seriously, Castle and Wemby have not been able to get area51's since he came back. I just haven't been able to discern why, but it is definitely a large factor. The Team feds off that highlight reel area51 hookups. As do Wemby and Castle. Also, I feel that Castle is somewhat lost when Wemby's on the floor. Beginning of season they were rocking and rolling. Wemby gets hurt, Castle steps up and gets his own. Now, being what I believe a great teammate and leader on his own (quiet strength), defers to Wemby and Wemby's getting doubled and tripled constantly, Castle is becoming hesitant, indecisive. That is anathema to him. It's a shame but I truly think it's two great teammates who are a bit young and Castle as the younger is trying too hard to get Wemby's his flowers. That's Castles motivation. He'd much rather assist than shoot. That's just the dude, and I love it for him. They'll figure it out in the next 20 years I guarantee.
If you look at the top 6 in the west over the last 10 games, the spurs are 6-4, the rest are 7-3, 7-3, 6-4, 5-5, 4-6. The Spurs are doing slightly better on average than the other 5 teams. The consensus was at the beginning of the season the Spurs would win 44-45 wins and some had them at 41. They are still on pace to win 55 games. They started out with a very easy schedule, but taking the whole schedule to this point they've had one of the hardest schedules. Google strength of schedule so far. Click on RPI to order them and that gives you a rating of a team. Its based on won lost % for a team, won-lost record for it's opponents, and won-lost record of its opponents-opponents. It's second in the west by a comfortable margin. All you whiners should put your big boy pants on, on stop screaming like a bunch of Chicken Littles "the sky is falling the sky is falling". It's not falling. When Vassell gets back up to speed they should move Castle to the bench. His poor shooting and excessive tovs and fouling are really hurting the team. I'd say his most valuable talent right now is his versatility. They can make better use of that bring him off the bench as SG, SF, and PG.
Spurs need to play faster and focus on their transition game. They struggle in the half court because they lack physicality and are below average shooters. They are young and should turn the game into a track meet and just run run run
Harper/Fox needs to run point and castle at 2. Have Barnes come off the bench. Wemby needs to get better in the paint and Mitch needs to learn how to use Sochan when other teams get more physical.
these are my take away from last month's Spurs performance:
1. Castle & Harper are sharing the same problem. They both can't finish in the rim. Foul baiting needs to be stop which sometimes affecting the efficiency on how they finish the shot. They need to be wise in using the pick and roll and avoid foul baiting. They also both committing too many unforced turnovers specially when they trying to defend a lead.
2. Low 3point shooting %. I believe it is more of rotating the players who are hot or not. Yes, we have Barnes as our starting 4. But when he is cold, we need to check on the other guys.
3. Wemby is falling in love again with 3. I think it is more of him avoiding any injuries while Spurs is trying to position in the rankings. But hopefully they can integrate some plays which give some space with Wemby as come playoff times. Teams would play physical defense against him and wouldn't give him enough room to operate. One vital thing for stopping him from being an offensive force is his physical strength. Hopefully next season he can gain more strength specifically lower body.
4. Coach Mitch's ability to make in-game adjustments. Perfect example was the last game against Pels. Zion keep on attacking the rim and obviously they need to clog the driving lane. The adjustment only has been implemented within single digit lead in 4th qtr.
5. Improve perimeter defense. Start of the season. It has been the obvious flaw of Spurs defense. They trying to create a funnel for players to drive in the paint and leaving Wemby as the rim protector. But the thing is they need to badly anticipate the kickouts.
I think the fact that Devin has been out a month is huge in this debate but certainly we need another shooter. Kevin Huerter, Luke Kennard, aj green, Malik monk etc, someone to help the spacing. Once we get back to league average 3PT shooting Steph, Dylan and Fox will be so deadly in attacking the paint
castle needs to be traded now before he loses value. he's overrated and jus plays hero ball
