  1. Scotty is a genius to keep this potial trade under wraps. Great move for both teams especially with an aging Westbrook. 3 more than solid point guards now with young bucks finally getting in the rotation. Not a single word from the Kings commentators that it could be Deandre we were targeting all along. I’m impressed. Scotty is building Doug’s fantasy defenders team. I love it. Can score and play the perimeter the way Doug asked for. I know Doug’s cheering. Fair trade for Keon too. New start and he will definitely jump over Dennis with Dennis’s contract not being an issue. Gets to play with a dominate big still yet to hit his prime in Mobley and a prime Donavan and company too. Keon must be so excited to be guarenteed to play ball in the postseason. I bet Dennis gets traded again or more than likely waived. But Dennis belongs in the east. The west doesn’t fit Dennis style or tempo. Keon will thrive in the east and be their stopper at the guard 1 &2 back up initially. By next year Keon could be the starter if garland is really hurt this bad too. I can see the cavs trading garland after this too bc they can now do it comfortably to avoid going over the luxury second level cap. Smart by both teams. Cavs get that tweak to get a push and Sacramento gets rid of a bad contract that allows them to keep everyone and everyone can finally know what to expect mins wise.

  2. If we were a good team this year, I would be all for this trade. Hunter is by far the best player in the trade, but how does that work for this year, and are we really trying to compete next year? 🤷‍♂️

  3. This is a good get for the Kings. Hunter, despite his down shooting this year, is a bigger more accomplished player than Ellis and is only two years older than him.

Averaged 17, 4 last year on the best team in the east on 47, 40, 86. 6’ 8” with a 72 inch wingspan and until this year has been a very good shooter his entire career.

Like the stock market, you have to take advantage when the value is down on a quality player for one reason or the other – given his salary and the improvement of Tomlin and Tyson this makes sense for the Cavs also.

Would’ve been nice to receive some draft capital but second round picks especially late ones are overrated and the king 2nd round pick they gave up is likely to be in the 50s given it’s the least favorable of the Knicks, Bucks, Pistons in 2029.

Kings arguably receive a better package for Schroeder and Ellis than the Hawks did for Trae Young. This is a good low risk high reward move that relieves the glut at the guard position and gives them a very good player at a position of need.
