SPURS POSTCAST: That one STUNG! | Red-hot Hornets stave off Wembanyama and Spurs’ rally

Casey Viera and NBA champion Devin Brown break down the Spurs’ 111-106 in snowy Charlotte against the Hornets, having their rally from 20-points-down fall short.

Victor Wembanyama scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds. De’Aaron Fox added 11 points and seven assists while Stephon Castle chipped in with 16 points and nine assists.

Rookie Dylan Harper netted 20 for San Antonio (32-16) who returns to the Alamo City to host Paolo Banchero and the Orlando Magic on Sunday.

Charlotte (22-28) recorded their sixth-consecutive win for the first time since March of 2016. Brandon Miller scored a game-high 26 points in the win.

  1. Soft team ! Only reason beat the rockets was because they were just missing easy shots !! Spurs fans over reacted like they actually did something great but they are still soft

  2. That's the best game i've seen Sexton have in YEARS!!!! Wemby and Fox…need to play a lot better! Hopefully a consolidation trade is coming! Olynik/Sochan and picks….for needed help! Gotta wonder if Barnes is being shopped..with his expiring contract!

  3. The last 5 minutes of that 2nd quarter..were as bad as it gets! Spurs will be fine…even KJ did not look like himself!

  4. You'll probably never win a championship with Wemby, sorry to say it. This guy's going to leave at 26 for another franchise, but he won't risk an injury. What happened against the Knicks traumatized him. He doesn't grab any rebounds, he's soft.

  5. Too much small ball once again too many offensive rebounds and second chance points

  6. This loss was on Wemby. everybody else did their job from Mitch to the rest of the team. Wemby got outplayed by Diabate and that's the game. Stop trying to blame everybody for Wemby's no show.

  7. The Hornets were too good for the Spurs and should have won by a greater margin. Wemby was often as slow as the slowest NBA player, unable to block any shot; Fox didn’t play well at all and KJ was just bad. The Hornets are the better team. Individually, Diabaté was better than Wemby, and Miller better than Fox and Castle. The end of the 2nd quarter was decisive. The Spurs were also outrebounded 51-36, which is bad considering that the Spurs have giants with Wemby and Luke. Just hire Moussa Diabaté.

  8. Every time Wemby wears his signature Alien shoes, his movements become slow and he always loses every game. It seems there is a problem with Wemby's signature shoes.

  9. Fox messed up going to spurs , he fell for the over hyped Wemby stuff . Wemby is good as a defender and occasionally dunk or open shot but he isn’t anywhere near what he made out to be

  10. Wemby is decent but dude seriously needs to put on some size. I’m tired of seeing him fold to more physical bigs. We also need to pick up the tempo on offense.

  11. Wemby has the right idea for the game, but sometimes I think he is a bit slow, I think thats the problem with all these super tall players.

  12. As a Hornets fan good game. Your team is very impressive especially defensively. Wemby will definitely learn in the future but i cannot express how happy i was when he took that shot at the end 😅

  13. I strongly disagree with Casey's take that Mitch has a good read on the team's hot hand. HELL NO HE DOESN'T. Carter Bryant recently got the Spurs back into a game and doesn't see a single minute in the 4th qtr. Now we got Dylan Harper 20 pts in 23 min gets 1 min in the 4th qtr?? What are we talking about here???

  14. Mitch is not a good coach and I cannot believe people continue to defend him. Only reason Spurs are winning is because of their sheer talent. Mitch only sticks to certain favorite players and have tendency to close the game out no matter what situation the team is in. Taking out Harper so that just to have he can have closing unit, taking out Wemby when he got going just because he has to take Wemby out for the sake of taking him out cost us more than 80% of loss.

  15. Spurs are turning into the Wolves. For 3 season now, Wolves look like they cant decide if they want to win or want to lose.

  16. I write the same comment win or lose. We have a terrible half-court offense! I watch every team we play set screens and we refuse to set them ourselves. When our ball handlers have the ball, set them a screen so they can get down hill.

The hornets were doing it, Rockets did it, Utah, N.O. Most teams set screens in the half-court. Coming back from 18 points down is due to a trash offense the leads to a 20-4 run. Or being up 20 and losing the lead. It happens too much to not be someone’s fault. There is too much talent to go more than 2 or 3 possessions without a bucket. Mitch call a play to get us off of 98. Get Wemby off the 3 point line asking for the ball. He should run to the block and the ball should find him. Also Wemby big ass need to set a screen and roll. Sets him up for rebounds and lobs or stop and pop.

You ever see the Spurs give Kornet the ball and then he wastes 5 seconds looking to give someone else the ball? That’s coaching too cause it happens every time. Pass him the ball and then run to it and get it back.

They’re gonna waste Wemby’s rookie contract. Mitch can stay the coach but what offense are we running? Set some damn screens! Get your rotations set, the season is half over! And stop that terrible drop coverage it gives offensive players downhill momentum. Leaves Miles Bridges open for 3 and then Wemby’s falls. Oh and now we are in 3rd place for all those people using what place we are in as an excuse. Look at the standings, we might fall out the top 6 with a 3 or 4 game loosing streak.
