The 2026 NBA Draft Class, featuring freshmen phenoms including Kansas Darryn Peterson, BYU AJ Dybansta, Duke Cameron Boozer, and UNC Caleb Wilson, could set OKC up as cheat code. A high pick can keep OKC out of salary troubles during the duration of SGA, Chet, and JDub’s max extension.

Cooper Flagg situation will not repeat for OKC… Total opposite. The NBA wanted Luka in LA but don’t want OKC to land a top pick like that.

If Embid continues his current level of production, the absence of PG won’t matter.
The problem I have with OKC getting these protected pics is that the way that the NBA is set up now, these teams can skate around having to give up their pics either by losing or winning whatever, for example what the Utah Jazz are doing this year purposely losing so they don’t have to give us their pic. I don’t think Presti should ever trade again for protected pics only unprotected pics. There’s just too many ways and too many loopholes to get around giving up those pics
